First, it sketches the concept of entangled history and entanglement, an evolving transcultural historiographic approach. Second, it canvasses how entangled history can assist in appraising implications of Griffith’s recently contested legacy as Premier of Queensland. In this paper, the pore opening and closure on the giant unilamellar vesicle GUV membrane are studied under different theoretical schemes. The opening process is considered as a dynamics process; while the closure process is considered as a quasi-static process. The opening criterion is set based on an energy release rate theory, similar to the Griffith theory for crack initiation. On the other hand, the closure process is described by a non-equilibrium thermodynamic theory. When the size of initial pore is smaller than a critical value, the pore is stable, and followed by the closure process.

Abstract:
A new class of constrained variational problems, which describe fluid-driven cracks (that are pressurized fractures created by pumping fracturing fluids), is considered within the nonlinear theory of coupled poroelastic models stated in the incremental form. The two-phase medium is constituted by solid particles and fluid-saturated pores; it contains a crack subjected to non-penetration condition between the opposite crack faces. The inequality-constrained optimization is expressed as a saddle-point problem with respect to the unknown solid phase displacement, pore pressure, and contact force.

AbstractFluid extraction from sandstone reservoirs leads to reservoir compaction, potentially inducing surface subsidence and seismicity, as observed in the Groningen Gas Field, Netherlands. Such compaction is partly elastic, but can additionally be caused by instantaneous plastic and rate/time‐dependent processes, such as subcritical crack growth, meaning that compaction may continue even if production is stopped. Despite the need to evaluate the impact of post‐abandonment reservoir behavior (10–100 years), few mechanism‐based, rate/time‐dependent compaction laws exist. Compaction due to grai

AbstractInjection of fluids during wastewater disposal and geologic carbon sequestration causes induced stress and changes in rock’s elastic and failure properties, such as elastic moduli and fracture toughness. An accurate understanding of such changes in the response requires modeling and analysis of fluid-induced changes in rock’s stress and deformation states for which core-scale mechanical loading tests are often employed. Antarctic marine organisms are characterised by a significant level of endemism. This is due to geological, climatological and oceanographic reasons, such as the break-up of Antarctida from Gondwana during the Cretaceous; the formation of a circumpolar current; the extremely low water temperatures (close to freezing); the short summer seasons. The South Shetland Islands (West Antarctic Peninsula) are one of 29 known biogeographic areas in the Southern Hemisphere (Griffiths et al. 2009). It is funded, run, and directed from Bundoora (Melbourne). The word ‘regional’ simply describes the situation. In addition, state, commercial enterprises, and various community groups overtly resist challenges to Australian meat-eating norms and to the intensive animal husbandry practices that underpin it.
