Abstract:
This study explores Porter’s diamond of national competitiveness, by critically examining both the analytical virtues, the extensions, and the criticisms it has received over time. The aim is to analyse the stage in which the study of the diamond is currently in, about twenty years after the introduction of M. Porter, suggesting that its analytical contribution focusing on the industrial dynamics (meso-competitiveness) is still relevant even though significant analytical repositioning and improvements are possible. This research attempts to integrate a set of evolutionary socioeconomic dimensions into the “diamond’s” analytical perspective, ending up with a proposed “competitiveness web” conceptual model.

Abstract:
Michael Porter offered a model that allows examining why some states are more competitive and why some industries within states are more competitive than others are. In this way, Porter’s diamond model of national competitiveness was detected as a model with which to assess the sources of competitive advantages of an industry in a particular country and it can help realize the competitive status of a nation in global competition. This model consists of four national determinants of competitive advantage: factor conditions, demand conditions, related and supporting industries, and firm’s strategy, structure and rivalry. The Porter’s theory is that these factors interact with each other to form conditions where innovation and competitiveness occurs. As the purpose of this study is to apply porter’s theory about national competitiveness on the Palestinian economy, the well known model in the literature developed by Porter was used. In this study, the competitiveness of the main sectors that have an important place in Palestine was investigated by using Porter’s Diamond model. To achieve the aim of the research both primary and secondary data collection techniques were used. The collected data was analyzed and evaluated according to the diamond model. So, we grabbed at an opportunity to evaluate the current situation according to the factors in the model and to detect areas that provide facilities to improve the competitiveness of the sectors.

Abstract:
The study's purpose was to investigate through empirical research the moderating role of government in the relationship of porter diamond factor conditions attribute and firm’s performance in the automotive industry of Pakistan. The research methodology used positivism philosophy, a pilot study carried out to determine the reliability and validity of the instrument. The descriptive and inferential statistics constituted an integral part of statistical analysis. 194 samples selected through random sampling, a self-administered questionnaire was served to them, 166 responses received and studied. For moderation macro, PROCESS v3.0 (model 1) used to test the hypothesis. The findings of the study indicate the absence of such a study in the auto industry of Pakistan. Government policy influenced the firm’s performance in the automotive industry. Government policy did not play a moderating role in the relationship of porter diamond factor conditions determinant and firm’s performance. Theoretical implications reflect that the government's role as a moderator between the relationship of porter diamond factor conditions and the firm’s performance remained not significant. Practical implications indicate that government policy has influence over the firm’s performance, nonetheless, government policy’s mediating role between porter’s diamond factor conditions and firm’s performance have no effect. Moderation results provided a theoretical and practical context for academia, industry players, and policymakers

Abstract:
The competitiveness of university graduates is largely determined by its capacity to create and maintain competitive advantage. Based on the Porters' Diamond model, this study measures the competitive advantage of universities in Indonesia, especially the master's level of education. This model has almost never been in educational institutions, except for economic / business sectors. The data were collected through a survey and interpreted by the Porters' Diamond Compatibility Analysis. The competitiveness of master of education graduates in Indonesia is already in good level but is still considered low in the Southeast Asian level. Four factors of Porters' Diamond competitiveness have low supporting capacity so that it leads to the less competitiveness of the graduates. Strengthening the supporting capacity of demand conditions, educational relevance, and educational strategies are then becoming top priorities, including strengthening specific skills and developing sector-based competency.

This study aims to examine the competitive advantage analysis through the Porter’s diamond model in Agrotourism Ngringinrejo Bojonegoro. The research method used is descriptive with qualitative approach. Data collection techniques are done by interview, observation and documentation. The results showed important determinant in the competitive advantage of Agrotourism Ngringinrejo Bojonegoro, in accordance with the diamond porter model, consist of factor conditions; demand conditions; firms structure, strategy and competition; related and supporting industries; and government roles. The difference of each determinant of competitive advantage has implications for sustainability advantages which based on four main dichotomies, consist of government involvement, ownership structure, market (which is entered by the industry), and expansion of other areas that are not controlled (urban sprawl). The generic strategy formulation that is suitable for Agrotourism Ngringinrejo is a focus strategy, by building capacity to carry out innovations and research beyond increasing agricultural productivity, as well as building artificial tourism facilities to support competitiveness. Keywords: Tourism Competitive Advantage Models, Sustainable Competitive Advantage, Generic Strategies
