Providing an overview of grounded theory (GT)'s approaches to information systems (IS) research to IS researchers who are now interested in applying GT is the goal of the chapter. Also, research contributions about the application of GT in IS, qualitative perspectives on IS research, the types of GT approaches used in IS research, and the GT study guidelines in IS are presented in this chapter. Examples of GT in IS research, which provide a description of the methodology and references to more detailed presentations, are also included, especially from the field of software engineering and system development. It should be noted that using the GT methodology is time consuming and requires high accuracy, and it starts with a phenomenon that the researcher finds is not well explained by existing theories. In such research, data sampling should provide a broad, in-depth, and pluralist view of the phenomenon under study, and a literature review on the phenomenon should be provided.

This study presents a theoretically-based model for economic analysis of electronic commerce in developing countries. The Porter diamond model is adopted for proper economic examination of the factors that affect e-commerce. The model not only captures the factors as the driving forces of e-commerce, but also facilitates the assessment of e-commerce and identification of the global competitive advantages of the firms. The new model can be used as a framework for better policymaking by the public and private sectors and to predict changes in the rapidly expanding e-commerce in the global environment, especially in developing countries.

Abstract:
E-commerce definitions allow us to understand the digital environment beyond a simplistic view of packaged products being delivered to one's home. Content, services, and experiences digitalization also became consumption options, having strong representatives such as Netflix, Spotify, and LinkedIn, among other digital services with revenue coming from recurring payments, here referred as digital subscription services (DSS). Freemium business model has gained prominence in recent years, although much of the literature considers it under a dualistic view (free vs. paid version), though there's no impediment to more than one paid version (levels). Taking advantage of the global reach, freemium DSSs usually have standardized purchase options (number of paid versions and benefits of each), turning the flexibility to set local prices fundamental to adjust the paid version(s) value perception according to the economic, market, and consumer expectations in each market. This chapter proposes price positioning strategies in global freemium DSSs, having Cutler and Sterne's conversion digital consumer lifecycle model in the background and potential scenarios in premium levels management based on the premise of price flexibility for local adaptations. Such proposals will allow global freemium services' managers to make price adjustments according to the analysis of the consumer distribution among service's paid versions, and to future studies to seek a possible quantification of the price change due to the asymmetry of consumers' distribution.

The global online shopping market has exhibited consistent growth, exceeding an annual average growth rate of 10% from 2006 to 2010; however, the online shopping market in Taiwan demonstrated an astounding growth rate, surpassing 35% during the same period. In the current competitive and rapidly expanding market environment, shopping website providers must establish effective methods for measuring and improving service quality to increase customer satisfaction levels. In this study, four service quality dimensions of the e-core service quality scale (E-S-QUAL; efficiency, system availability, fulfillment, and privacy) were used to measure the service quality of shopping websites. Subsequently, the simultaneous importance-performance analysis (SIPA) method and analytical Kano model were integrated to analyze the market competition strategies adopted among members of the shopping website industry. Finally, suggestions are provided regarding potential management methods for the case companies.

Abstract:
In order to build a successful strategy for any type of business, a strategic analysis needs to be performed. A strategic analysis consists of multiple elements, but it always starts with environmental scanning. This research focuses on that very first step by conducting an environmental analysis. It is a strategic tool that identifies all the external and internal elements, which could possibly affect the organization's performance. The aim of this research was not to provide all the final and conclusive answers. It was merely to explore the research topic with varying levels of depth. Additionally, this research tended to tackle new problems on which little or no previous research has been done by combining and elaborating well-known models, such as PESTEL, Porter´s 5 forces, and SWOT. The research problem of this chapter can be described as to determine the possibilities of starting a successful commercial business within the social welfare sector of Portugal.

Abstract:
The purpose of this chapter is to describe the methodology and present some initial results in our efforts to understand the role of spatial organization in ethnic economies of the Los Angeles garment industry. Our research goal was to provide a spatial dimension to our database in order to test theories maintaining that space is a critical component of economic transactions. To this end, we created analytical grids of various resolutions using three GIS functions: address matching, polygon generation, and identity overlay. The grids were then transformed into matrices and tested for spatial autocorrelations using Statistical Analysis System (SAS) routines proposed by Griffith (1992). The following section presents brief arguments for the importance of space from the perspectives of industrial district and ethnic economy theories. The third section describes the research site and data sources. The fourth section outlines the analytical concerns of spatial autocorrelation and the modifiable areal unit problem (MAUP), which leads to a discussion of the relevant GIS operations in the fifth section. The sixth section presents spatial autocorrelation measures that show a direct relationship between spatial concentration and economic success in the Los Angeles garment district. The concluding section summarizes the importance of GIS as an analytical tool. Both industrial district and ethnic economy perspectives are based on assumptions about the importance of space. Business economists and geographers show that arrangements within spatially concentrated, tightly integrated industrial districts are critical to globally competitive industries, rapid information flow, lowered transaction costs, and increased control over production, permitting quick and flexible responses to changing market demands (Scott and Mattingly 1989; Piore and Sable 1884; Storper and Walker 1992; Storper and Christopherson 1987). In particular, Porter (1990)—a Harvard Business School economist and member of former President Reagan’s Council on Competitiveness— emphasizes that geographic concentration increases local competition as well as fostering such “emotional factors” as trust, pride, and bragging rights. Spatial concentration, while less prominent in discussions of ethnic economies, remains an underlying factor in providing a venue for the exchange of cultural capital.

Abstract:
This chapter aims to detect the differentiating factors of the accessible e-travel agencies that enable them to be competitive in the market and, therefore, to promote the development of accessible products in the tourism sector. With this objective, an analysis of 14 accessible travel agencies' websites has been carried out. The analysis was guided by theoretical frameworks of competitiveness and accessible tourism. Taking into account the specific needs of people with disabilities, accessible e-travel agencies offer a wide range of specialized and tailor-made products and services with great quality while finding efficiency formulas to contain prices: being receptive in a specific destination; having a network of contacts in different parts of the world that can verify the specific requirements of the client; or being specialized in a specific destination/s, offering tourist packages that have previously been tested by other people with the disability for which it is offered.

Abstract:
Well-managed information is the basis of any successful enterprise. The current increase in information management capacity generates opportunities for a new stage of development, making it critical for companies to significantly increase information, intelligence and technology management competences to successfully exploit these new opportunities. However, information technology (IT) development has, in many cases, not been balanced by an enhancement of information management competences within organizations. One way of successfully exploiting opportunities is through the business philosophy of Enterprise Systems (ES), defined as organizational arrangements that combine management science and IT to enhance a company’s decision-making capabilities. ES have helped streamline business processes and improve the overall performance of organizations. This chapter presents an overview of the development of ES from the 1970s to the present day, and presents an S-curve analysis of the diffusion of ES innovations. The sources of ES innovation are then discussed in terms of enablers (technological, entrepreneurial and venture capital) and drivers (developers and innovators). The differences between vendors in terms of their ES solutions are then briefly presented, and the role of ES in creating a competitive advantage is discussed.

Abstract:
‘Researching ICT: The Scholars’ Alienated Experience’ examines the experience of academics researching the ethical and societal aspects of ICT. The chapter asks how effective Marx’s theory of alienation would be when applied to what could be described as a relatively ‘benign’ experience since it is generally assumed that researchers have some autonomy over their work. The chapter opens by describing the conflictual and constantly changing conditions that shape the scholars’ working environment with its attendant stresses and contradictory pressures including a neoliberal management environment, problems associating with publishing including peer review and the wider contexts of demands s at universities including those of teaching and administration. The author uses Sarah Mann’s application of Marx’s theory of alienation to students' lack of engagement to bring into focus this other contributor to the alienated condition of the academic arising in Higher Education. Important factors contributing to the alienated feelings of researchers expressed through the research included commitment to a subject, creativity (or lack of), collaboration and/vs competition and academics’ lack of control over ‘process and product’ when it comes to research funding and publishing the results of it. The analysis concludes that pressures arising from the competitive research environment are the focus of much concern for researchers and that the analysis of alienation as presented by Marx is helpful in understanding their condition.

This is mainly due to increasing awareness among politicians, academics and the wider population on the importance of environmental aspects in daily life. Consequently demand for environmentally friendly solutions is expected to grow continuously in the next decade. The present study is part of a broader research project which examines the long-term science and technology (S&T) agenda in Russia up to 2030. The project's results were approved by the Prime Minister of Russia in early January 2014. Researchers from the National Research University Higher School of Economics carried out the research project at the request of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science between 2011 and 2013. The research comprised six interrelated spheres: ICT; biotechnology, medicine and public health; new materials and nanotechnologies; environmental management; transport and space systems; and energy efficiency and energy conservation. For each sphere, the project explored in-depth the global emergent challenges and opportunities, the risks, and their degree of influence on Russia. The authors analysed the most important potential market niches, products and services that are capable of radically shaping world markets and highlighted their competitive advantages. Within the framework of these priority science areas authors emphasised several spheres of particular potential value and compared the level of research carried out in Russia and the leading countries. The current chapter also covers the analyses the natural resources sector made within a project aimed at integration of national and sectoral S&T Foresight studies funded by the Russian Ministry of Education and Science. Findings show that the potential applications for environmental products and services are manifold. The study is based on a thorough analysis of expert opinions and their assessment of future applications and the development of demand for these applications. However the authors note that the expert opinions included in the assessment of prospective products, services and markets, despite being based on rigorous assessment, still reflect expectations. Their opinions incorporate a degree of uncertainty especially with regard to how and when (or whether) the markets, technologies, products and services will develop in the expected ways.

Since the beginning of 1980's advancements in studies on competitiveness and clustering in global scale have also affected the manufacturing sector in Turkey at the beginning of 2000's. In several debates, it has been strongly emphasized that measurement of both competitiveness and clustering in regional level is a necessity for analyze and implementation processes. This study aims to investigate clustering tendency of footwear manufacturers and to analyze competition power of firms in Konya province in Turkey. For this purpose, footwear industry in the province is analyzed by Porter’s Diamond

The study of industrial games of innovation is often associated with dominant theories representing various generic forms of organizational design and dynamics. The dominant theories in this area were traditionally Schumpeter’s destructive innovation, Porter’s five-force competitive analysis and Nalebuff’s value net. Other frameworks for analyzing industrial behavior include game theory and its derivative innovation games theory. For regulated high-technology industries, theoretical frameworks that do not account for interfirm coordination are often insufficient to understand or predict the in

Purpose: Nowadays, not only the research but also coaching is focusing on decision making in basketball. Decision making is critical in basketball, especially in relation to offensive skills (with ball). Generally, the players have to decide what to do with the ball (make an appro-priate decision) and in the shortest time possible. From this point of view, the study aims to identify the factors which can affect the decision making of offensive skills of female basket-ball players. Methods: Eight semi-professional female basketball players participated in this study. Basket-ball players played

Product-service system (PSS) approach has emerged as a competitive strategy to impel manufacturers to offer a set of products and services as a whole. A new three-domain PSS conceptual design framework supporting engineering design methodology is proposed in this research. Identification of the critical parameters in these domains plays an important role. Engineering characteristics (ECs) in the functional domain, which include product-related ECs (P-ECs) and service-related ECs (S-ECs), are identified by translating customer requirements (CRs) in the customer domain. With the rapid growth of renewable energy sector, vertical axis wind turbines are finding their applications in the small-scale distributed wind energy system, particularly in rural areas. These turbines are simple in construction and easy to install with comparatively lower cost. However, the efficiency of these turbines is not competitive to that of horizontal axis wind turbines. In this paper, an attempt has been made to improve the efficiency of a Savonius-style vertical axis wind turbine under concentrated and oriented jets through installation of deflectors at different positions ahead o
