Abstract Introduction The overdenture is an alternative to fixed implant-supported prosthesis for its relatively low-cost and in clinical cases where it is impossible to place multiple implants with appropriate number and arrangement in the arch to support a fixed prosthesis. In implant-supported overdentures, many attachments such as bars, ball, and magnets can be used. The anchorage system affects the retention and stability of the overdenture as well as the load transfer to the implant and the bone. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the exerted stresses on implants and implant–abutm

In this paper, dynamic mechanics analysis was performed, in order to investigate the maximum forces acting on the crankshaft under working conditions. Then, three dimensional, finite element analyses have been conducted, in an attempt to predict the fatigue crack-initiation locations and lives. The maximum loadings, used in finite element analyses, were analytical obtained, which correspond to the five critical rotational angles of the first crankpin, i.e. = 40 º, 110º, 185 º, 255 º, 325 º. SummaryExtracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) has expanded from the original uses of human urinary calculi treatment to veterinary orthopaedic applications. This paper investigates the feasibility and efficacy of treating dogs with osteoarthritis of the stifle joint with ESWT. In this study, dogs with persistent stifle lameness despite previous surgical or medical treatment were either treated with ESWT or served as untreated controls. The more lame rear limb of each dog was determined by force platform analysis. The range of motion (ROM) of the stifle joints was assessed by goniometry. Force

This research takes place in Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua Beach Resort. It aims to analyse the marketing and competition of Sofitel Bali as a tourist attraction. This is achieved by using the concept of marketing mix and Porter ?s Five Forces. The research of a hotel as a tourist attraction is conducted, because a hotel does not only serve as a place to sleep, rather does it serve a bigger role in the destination by giving the tourist an experience based on the product offered. AbstractA decline of surface wind speed (wind stilling) has been observed in many regions of the world. The greater Beijing metropolitan area in China is taken as an example for analyzing the urbanization impact on wind stilling. This study set up five scenarios with different urbanization ratios and the same atmospheric forces and then simulated wind speed under each scenario using the next-generation Weather Research and Forecasting model. The results suggest that the correspondence between the regional average wind speed ratio of decrease Δu and the ratio of urbanized area δurban (%) fits t

Although potentially analytically useful, a global empirical model of the myocardial isotonic curve, L(t), has not been described. We propose the following relation: L(t) = C(t/A)B-1e-(t/A)B, where A, B, and C are global parameters, L is length, and t is time. We evaluated this model in nine in situ canine papillary muscles studied with a servo-system to produce isotonic twitches at different isotonic forces (F). For each twitch, the parameters were determined by nonlinear curve fitting. The model fit the observed curves of L(t) closely, with the coefficient of determination being 0.995 +/- 0.

BACKGROUND: Aircrew-aircraft compatibility is important in military aviation for flight safety. Anthropometric aircrew selection standards in RAFO were embedded from the selection standards of western defense forces as the aircrafts were imported from there. Henceforth efforts were made to fit local native aviators into aircrafts not initially designed for them. In view of this, this study was carried out to obtain the anthropometric data of Oman aircrew recruits and compare these with published western and eastern data with a hope to understand and highlight the aircrew-aircraft mismatch issu
