Abstract:

Abstract:
This dissertation work is dealing with developmental markers of predictors of reading and writing among the children at the end of preschool age and at the beginning of school entry. Diagnostics of these predictors and intervention can reduce children's difficulties in the process of acquiring reading and writing abilities. First four chapters are theoretical. They describe general concepts of reading and writing. These school abilities are considered in relationship to the literacy development. Psychological nature of reading and writing and developmental predictors of their progress are also discussed. Current trends in early recognition of developmental deficits causing difficulties in acquiring reading and writing are introduced. Test rizika poruch čtení pro rané školáky (Test of risk of reading difficulties of children of early school age) is a method that can help to find children with future reading and writing difficulties and to provoke the need for an early intervention in the school environment. The first aim of the empirical part of this work was to create and standardize this screening method. Abstract:
Chronic sensitization of dopamine D2/D3 receptors by agonist quinpirole (QNP) induces compulsive checking behaviour in rats, which is considered an animal model of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Previous study revealed deficit in cognitive flexibility in QNP sensitized rats. This thesis focused on determining if this cognitive flexibility deficit is ameliorated by co-administration of clomipramine (CMI), risperidone (RIS) or combination of both (CMI+RIS) to QNP treatment. Aversively motivated active place avoidance task on a Carousel maze with reversal was used. The number of entrances into a to-be-avoided shock sector was evaluated as measure of performance. Six treatment groups were used: control group, QNP group, CMI group, QNP/CMI combination, QNP/RIS combination and QNP/CMI/RIS combination. Surprisingly, when compared alone, significantly worse acquisition was observed for QNP group compared to control group. However, similarly to previous study, QNP group had a worse performance in a first reversal session compared to control group. When all groups were compared, only QNP/CMI group had worse initial learning compared to control group. In reversal learning, only QNP treated group had a significantly more entrances than control group in first reversal session. Results suggest that co-treatment...

My thesis "Geography teaching of students with a specific learning disabilities" is concerned with specific learning disabilities related to lessons of Geography. It presents the ways of manifestation of the issue in educational process and, subsequently, the effective solutions in a form of recommendations usable in lessons of Geography. The practical part is based on the assumption of displays of certain learning disabilities that may occur in lessons of Geography. The ways how the disabilities may be displayed were estimated through studying available literature in question. Based on the above Frame Education Programme for Elementary Education was analysed. Certain proposals have been worked out for the items that seem to be problematic for pupils with dyslexia and dyscalculia. The proposals are presented in a common format usual in Geography lessons and, subsequently, in adjusted format to be checked if it is easier to understand to the corresponding pupil's. The practical part contains adapted tasks, pupils work description in Geography lessons, and analysis of results. The results represent comparing success rates of both the versions, and potential additional information acquired from pupils. Abstract:
This thesis deals with specific learning difficulties (SLD) in the context of teaching geography in upper primary schools and secondary schools, trying to figure out whether pupils and students have (or may have) specific learning difficulties when learning geography, whether such problems exist. If so, how can be these problems avoided or at least mitigated. To meet stated goals, it was necessary to answer fundamental questions about the specific learning disabilities. What SLD are? What type of SLD are known? What causes SLD? And what are the typical symptoms? After that, based on the findings from answers to these questions, qualitative research was realised through in-depth interviews. Respondents of these interviews were eight people with learning disabilities - dyslexia, dysgraphia, dysorthography, dyscalculia, and a combination. All interviews were recorded on a tape recorder, transcribed and analyzed using the methods of clustering and capturing patterns (so- called gestalts) using open and axial coding. The results of analysis of these interviews were summarised and provide some insight into the SLD related to teaching geography. Abstract:
Obsessive-compulsive disorder is a chronic psychiatric disease. It seriously limits the quality of life of patients. Treatment of OCD is not yet fully successful and still many patients are left with debilitating symptoms without functioning medication. Animal models of genetic, behavioral, pharmacological, and optogenetic origins are beneficial in the achievement of new understandings of the disease. Chronic sensitization of serotonin 1A and 7-receptors with an agonist 8-OH-DPAT ((8- hydroxy-2-(di-propylamino)-tetralin hydrobromide) induces perseverative and compulsive behaviors, which is considered to constitute an animal model of OCD. In this thesis, the 8-OH- DPAT model has been tested in the active place avoidance task on Carousel maze to provide information about the model on learning. Second, this model is used to determine, whether co- administration of memantine or riluzole alleviates the cognitive and learning deficits of this model. To uncover these effects, an active place avoidance task on a Carousel maze was used. Measured criteria were total distance, entrances to the shock sector, total number of shocks, and median speed after the shock. During habituation, the animals were sensitized to 8-OH-DPAT (with a control group that did not receive 8-OH-DPAT but only saline). In an...
