Abstract:
Since the early 1980s the conversion of land to non-agricultural use has been arguably the most widespread and intense in China's history. The recent increase in non-agricultural land use has been caused largely by the rapid expansion of urban settlements and the construction of roads and stand-alone industrial sites. Among the factors contributing to these changes, rural–urban migration, urbanization and accelerating development are among the most important. Analysis of land use data from three coastal provinces suggests that variations in the share of land occupied for non-agricultural use a

This paper thoroughly examines the regulation and implementation of post-mining land use in Indonesia and China. This study employs a statutory and comparative legal approach to examine both countries’ regulations and utilization of post-mining land. The research findings indicate that Indonesia lacks legal rules for post-mining land utilization. The Mineral and Coal Mining Law in Indonesia and other legislation solely governs the transfer of post-mining land from companies to eligible parties via the Minister, Governor, or Regent/Mayor. Therefore, this research aimed to investigate the physico-mechanical properties and anatomical structure of pendulate oak (Quercus robur L.) wood—specifically focusing on the trunk’s cross-section—in post-agricultural areas compared

Achieving food security and resources sustainability have a high priority in agrarian policy that universal for all economies. Today modern agriculture has many complex challenges, so a sustainable agriculture approach is needed. Agriculture now must produce more food, using available natural resources efficiently and sustainably, including a reduction of post-harvest losses and waste, and developing agriculture more resilient to climate change. The Republic of Serbia has a good quality of agricultural land, favorable ratio of available land per capita, and favorable climate conditions for agr

The rate and direction of the post-agrogenic succession are determined by the features of agricultural land development in the past. After intensive application of organic fertilizers, as well as cattle grazing, the restoration of woody vegetation slows down, as well as the rate of appearance of forest species resistant to acidic conditions and low enrichment in nutrient elements in the grass. With the intensive application of organic fertilizers, nitrophilic herbal phytocenoses with low floristic diversity exist for a long time. Each year, more than 10% of the U.S. population experiences food insecurity.1 Historically, many faith-based organizations have focused on alleviating hunger as an expression of their values. As these organizations are some of the largest non- governmental landowners in the world,2 some of their less productive land holdings could be repurposed to directly address food justice. In Jewish practice, Biblical literature outlines laws providing agricultural support in the form of fallen grain and fruit available for post-harvest gleaning.3 Two associated projects, Abundance Farm and the Food Secur

Integrated climatic change adoption is essential for agricultural sustainability, especially with the current extreme whether occurrences posed by the global warming. Recurrent flooding has negative effects on agriculture as farmers encounter land, crops and animal losses post every rainy season, a consequence of unpredictable weather pattern. The objective of this paper was to carry out a desk review of Nyando topography in relations to floods, examine farmers opinion on implementation of floating agriculture on waterlogged lands and to investigate the sociodemographic characteristics of farm

Abstract:
This study investigates land use and land cover (LULC) change in the Stung Chrey Bak catchment, Kompong Chhnang province, Cambodia, over the period 1989–2008. Using a mixed-methods approach that combines satellite remote sensing (Landsat and ASTER imagery) with field interviews and participatory mapping, the research identifies significant transformations in forest cover, rice field expansion, and land tenure dynamics. The findings reveal a decline in evergreen and secondary forests, largely due to logging, agricultural expansion, and land speculation. The Khmer Rouge era (1975–1979) played a

Water is central for a variety of livelihoods, development, economic growth, and food production. It is also very important in the large deltas of South and Southeast Asia. Yet, water is turning into a scare resource and global climate change is making its availability more unpredictable. Commercial interests and infrastructure development are also competing for water resources, sometimes at the expense of local smallholders. This report, which is a desk study combined with stakeholder interviews, aims to map out the issues and the previously unknown challenges to efficient water and land mana

The Southeast Coast Network (SECN) stream habitat monitoring protocol collects data to give park resource managers insight into the status of and trends in stream and near-channel habitat conditions (McDonald et al. 2018a). Wadeable stream assessments are currently implemented at the five SECN inland parks with wadeable streams. These parks include Horseshoe Bend National Military Park (HOBE), Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield (KEMO), Ocmulgee Mounds National Historical Park (OCMU), Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area (CHAT), and Congaree National Park (CONG).
