Abstract:
Adhesive anchors are widely used as post-installed fasteners in civil engineering. A typical steel-to-concrete connection includes multiple anchors which are commonly subjected to combined moment and shear loading. Based on the assumption that all anchors take up shear load, a revised method is developed for the design of ductile anchors, which considers that only the row of most stressed anchors in the tension zone are needed to meet the elliptical interaction of tension and shear capacity requirement during the design process of anchorage group under combined shear and moment loading. Fire design of cast-in place and post-installed anchors in concrete under fire is covered by EN 1992-4, Annex D, allowing steel- and concrete-related failure modes of anchors to be calculated. This informative annex of EN 1992-4 is limited to cast-in place or mechanical anchors, whereas post-installed adhesive anchors remain out of its scope. This paper presents a study of the applicability of the more flexible resistance integration method (RIM), proposed originally for the design of the pull-out resistance of post-installed reinforcement (PIR) by Pinoteau, on bonded anchors in uncracked conc

Adhesive anchor is an effective tool for a steel-to-concrete connection combined with the way of post-installed anchorage. However the bond strength of adhesive will decrease at elevated temperature which has a negative effect on anchorage behavior. In this paper a numerical analysis with 3D FE model has been carried out to investigate the tensile performance of adhesive anchor in a steel-to-concrete connection subjected to fire and the results show that high temperature have significant impact on bond strength of anchor even with the protection of fire resisting coating covering the surface o

Flats slabs became a common solution for buildings because they are easy and fast to build. In the last few years, some building that constructed using flat slab system required strengthening for column to slab junction due to either some imperfections during design, construction or due to increase of the design load in case of change of the building function. The common strengthen methods against punching shear (column heads, drop panels) leave an obvious trace which in most cases conflicts with some extensions parts and may reduce the height of the story considered, thus it can’t be applied

Currently, the determination of the shear capacity VRk,s0 of post installed adhesive anchors is already included in the current standardization and approval documents. Considering that EAD 330499-00-0601 allows for determining the shear resistance of a fastener only based on the characteristic steel ultimate tensile strength fuk determined from the material tensile tests, and without considering the actual ductility of the material used, this leads to a severe underestimation of the actual steel shear resistance. Abstract As thermoset polymers find frequent implementation in engineering design, their application in structural engineering is rather limited. One key reason relies on the ongoing curing process in typical applications such as post-installed adhesive anchors, joints by structural elements or surface-mounted laminates glued by adhesive polymers. Mechanochemistry including curing and aging under thermal as well as mechanical loading causes a multiphysics problem to be discussed. For restricting the variety of material models based on empirical observations, we aim at a thermodynamically sound
