Artikeln undersöker människors förhållningssätt till uppslagsverk och encyklopedier i ett livshistoriskt perspektiv under en period när encyklopedier har genomgått dramatiska förändringar. En frå- gelista som skickats till fasta så kallade meddelare knutna till Folklivsarkivet i Lund har använts som metod. Svaren har analyserats med hjälp av posthumanistisk teori. Analysen visar de sätt som tryckta encyklopedier har spelat en roll i meddelarnas liv. Verken var dyra och fungerade som försäkringar för ett gott medelklassliv för familjen. Att makar ibland hade olika syn på uppslagsverks värde visar på förändringen som skett både av kvinnors ekonomiska villkor och av bokpriser. Böckernas materialitet är väsentlig i berättelserna även om de ofta skrymmande verken idag är svåra att husera när information kan nås online. Encyklopedier associeras till tryckta verk även om de flesta meddelarna idag använder Google. De tryckta verken har flyttats till källare eller sommarhus där deras oföränderlighet gör dem aktuella på nytt.

Posthumanistic Another, or challenges for contemporary humanities: Sketch around the theory of Achille MbembeThe text is a critical essay about Achille Mbembe’s poshumanistic theory of identity and answers the question of why we should read about postcolonial theory today, adjusting it to local European relations. The author proposes a specific kind of reading Mbembe’s essay as a call to create an involved identity. Involved identities are a form of resistance against European and many other authorities.

Denna undersökning angriper Nationalmuseums skolmaterial ”Omöjliga kroppar – om skönhet, mode och genus” utifrån ett posthumanistiskt/ nymaterialistiskt perspektiv. Genom analysmetoden diffraktion identifierar jag hur dessa perspektiv skulle kunna ges utrymme i detta material. Syftet med detta är ett antagande om att de genererar kunskaper och förståelser som är viktiga för en långsiktig hållbarhet. Syftet är inte att finna brister i materialet, som förhåller sig till existerande kunskapsparadigm, läroplan, och konstsamlingar och fyller sin funktion i den kontexten. Snarare att belysa vad som kan uppstå i mötet mellan det som redan existerar, det som utifrån ett visst behov och funktion är under utveckling, och teorier som kan tyckas vara kontrasterande, komplexa och avlägsna. Detta har genererat följande frågeställningar: Vilka möten och brytningar framstår genom diffraktion av posthumanistisk/ nymaterialistisk teori och undervisningsmaterilet ”Omöjliga kroppar”? Samt: Vilka nya möjliga sammankopplingar framträder i dessa möten och brytningar mellan posthumanistisk/nymaterialistisk teori och undervisningsmaterialet ”Omöjliga kroppar”?Jag har här avgränsat mig till tre teorier: den decentrerade människan, den uppluckrade tiden och den materiella agensen. Dessa förklaras här och jag undersöker var de möter (dvs. förstärker) formuleringar i studiematerialet, och var de bryter mot det (dvs. presenterar ett kritiskt eller avvikande perspektiv). I dessa möten och brytningar har jag identifierat möjliga sammankopplingar mellan teorierna och studiematerialet, i bemärkelsen omformuleringar av text eller förskjutningar av fokus som kan bana väg för nya tankar och samtal. Resultatet visar att en decentrering av människan i detta material är utmanande, då vi förknippar ”skönhet, mode och genus” med mänsklig kultur, men kan åstadkommas exempelvis genom att i text och samtal beskriva människor som en art bland andra, och inkludera dessa andra i diskussioner om exempelvis makt. En uppluckring av tiden låter sig göras om man frångår materialets linjära, kronologiska organisation och söker andra mönster eller ingångar. Studiematerialet erbjuder även flera möjligheter att betrakta materiella föremål som i besittning av en egen agens. Denna metod att applicera filosofiska begrepp och teorier på konkreta undervisningssituationer skulle sannolikt, om den tillämpandes i fler sammanhang, kunna leda till en förändring i tankemönster och förgivettaganden, förändringar som på sikt kan generera mer ”hållbara” kunskaper och förståelser om världen och vår plats i den.

In order to strengthen the importance of melodically instrumental play in Early Childhood Education it appears essential to design a simplified, structured system as an outset for future users. The purpose of the present study is to examine and analyze how children’s and pedagogue’s altered usage of melodic instruments appears after linear musical activities. Notions used for analysis are derived from a posthumanistic perspective, of which the theoretical recourses of this study are based upon. Generation of empirics was collected with video and photo during three weeks and a total of five observations with two pedagogues and eleven three to five year-old children. A structured system with color-coded markers appears to give meaningfulness to play with melodic instruments as it tends to add an alternative focus of attention to children’s use of the piano. Colored symbols provided a unified starting point for the construction of individual melodies for both children and pedagogues, which altered how they used the piano. The understanding of the colored markers and symbols was linked together and made visible through our participants when sheet music were used during non-linear situations and activities. Various forms of interactions between material, children and pedagogues was emitted during the process, such as the piano without colored markers initially invited the children to play together, yet the structured system tended to make the participants more protective of their play.

The subject music is only mentioned twice in the curriculum for preschool Lpfö98 and since other subjects such as science are mentioned much more often, there is a risk that music as a subject possibly may be under-prioritized in preschool. The purpose of this study is to plan, implement and analyze transdisciplinary teaching with focus on musitur (musence), a fusion of the subjects music and science, based on posthumanistic theory. From this purpose, the following questions have emerged; What characterizes musitur in transdisciplinary teaching in preschool and How can intra-actions be visualized at musitur-sessions? The project itself is a student-initiated development work involving transdisciplinary teaching. The empirical material was collected at a preschool in the center of a city with the help of video documentation and the material is meticulously transcribed. The result is analyzed and based on posthumanist theory and includes rhizomatic learning, transdisciplinary learning, bodymind and intra-action, which is described and explained with the help of, among others, the theories and concepts of the researchers Barad, Lenz Taguchi and Palmer. The result of the study shows that the combination of the subjects music and science can lead to the production of musitur. A transdisciplinary learning can thus possibly contribute to broadening insights regarding the two subjects. Furthermore, the result shows that materialities both can slow down and increase interest that may affect the learning in a positive sense.

Studiens syfte är att undersöka hur posthumanistisk teori kan bidra till måluppfyllelse och kvalitet i förskolan genom att synliggöra relationer mellan aktörer i ett tematiskt arbetssätt. Forskningsfrågor som ämnar svara på detta är; hur samverkar pedagoger, barn samt icke-mänskliga ting i förskolans temaarbete? Samt vilka handlingar möjliggörs därigenom för det systematiska kvalitetsarbetet? Problemområdet beskrivs utifrån stora skillnader i kvalitet mellan förskolor samt att undervisning i samband med den reviderade läroplanen tar stöd i nya teorier. Data har samlats in genom semistrukturerade intervjuer vilka analyserats med aktör-nätverksteori. Resultatet visar att icke-mänskliga aktörer som miljö, material samt läroplan kan vara utgångspunkt för ett utforskande arbetssätt. Med detta som utgångspunkt i arbetsprocesser för systematiskt kvalitetsarbete kan en samverkan med ett målinriktat arbetssätt skapas genom pedagogers stöttande förhållningssätt. Slutsatsen är att posthumanistiska teorier kan bidra till förskolans måluppfyllelse och kvalitet genom en rörelse mellan olika teorier.

Uncontainable Life: A Biophilosophy of Bioart investigates the ways in which thinking through the contemporary hybrid artistico-scientific practices of bioart is a biophilosophical practice, one that contributes to a more nuanced understanding of life than we encounter in mainstream academic discourse. When examined from a Deleuzian feminist perspective and in dialogue with contemporary bioscience, bioartistic projects reveal the inadequacy of asking about life’s essence. They expose the enmeshment between the living and non-living, organic and inorganic, and, ultimately, life and death. Instead of examining the defining criteria of life, bioartistic practices explore and enact life as processual, differential, and always already uncontainable, thus transcending preconceived material and conceptual boundaries. In this way, this doctoral thesis concentrates on the ontology of life as it emerges through the selected bioartworks: “semi-living” sculptures created by The Tissue Culture and Art Project and the performance May the Horse Live in Me (2011) by L’Art Orienté Objet. The hope is that such an ontology can enable future conceptualisations of an ethico-politics that avoids the anthropocentric logic dominant in the humanities and social sciences.
Otyglat liv: Biokonst och biofilosofi undersöker hur biofilosofisk praktik och biokonst, alltså tänkande genom samtida hybrida konstnärliga-vetenskapliga praktiker, kan bidra till en mer nyanserad förståelse av liv än vad vi vanligtvis möter i akademiska diskurser. Med utgångspunkt i ett feministiskt deleuzianskt perspektiv, och i dialog med samtida biovetenskap, pekar biokonstnärliga projekt på det otillräckliga i att ställa frågor om livets innehåll. Projekten tydliggör istället hur det levande och det icke-levande, det organiska och oorganiska, precis som liv och död, är sammanflätade. Istället för att sätta upp fasta kriterier för liv undersöker och framställer biokonstnärliga praktiker liv som en differentiell process, i sig omöjlig att fastställa och därmed något otyglat, som överskrider uppsatta gränser mellan det materiella och föreställda. Följaktligen fokuserar föreliggande avhandling på livets ontologi så som den framträder i ett urval av biokonstnärliga arbeten: ”semi-levande” skulpturer skapade av The Tissue Culture and Art Project, samt performance-konstverket May the Horse Live in Me (2011) av L’Art Orienté Objet. Förhoppningen är att en sådan ontologi kan möjliggöra framtida begreppsliggöranden av en etisk politik som undviker den antropocentriska logik som dominerar humaniora och samhällsvetenskap idag.

The text is concerned with informational privacy in infosphere. Infosphere according to Luciano Floridi presents a new type of techno-scientific ecology in which western societies organize themselves and operate. Privacy is conceptualized as a labor of division in the infosphere, where every (quasi)subject is mobilizing various actors in order to protect her outer boundaries and resist objectification. The labor of division in infosphere is then compared with similar types of labor in different ecologies and societies (i.e. Amazonia and Mongolia) in sake of identification of crucial agents carrying out this labor of division based on negotiations of categories such as human/non-human or self/non-self. The text distinguishes three types of actors of division according to three interconnected intruders; traders, overseers and criminals. The argument then is that through mobilization of various dividing actors depending on the type of intruder, different (quasi)subjects emerge, thus subjectivity in the infosphere is a political project co- constructed by non/human dividing actors. The last chapter than proposes general ethical directions which might be helpful in the future, when considering the problems of lack of privacy.
