Abstract:

Lange Zeit schien der Kolonialismus im Geschichtsbewusstsein der Deutschen eine nebengeordnete bzw. beiläufige Rolle zu spielen und die Beteiligung Deutschlands am Kolonialprozess wurde wenig Achtung geschenkt. Erst die Entstehung einer schwarzafrikanischen postkolonialen Literatur in Deutschland hat dazu beigetragen, die Kolonialerfahrung als gemeinsames Erbe zwischen Deutschen und Afrikanern sichtbar zu machen. Im Mittelpunkt von Texten afrikanischer Autoren in deutscher Sprache steht das Zurückschauen auf vergangene Ereignisse, die aus verschiedenen Perspektiven thematisiert werden. Der vorliegende Beitrag untersucht am Beispiel von zwei kamerunischen Texten die Erinnerung an die deutsche Kolonialvergangenheit. Diese postkoloniale Aufarbeitung der Kolonialerinnerung, wie sie von Daniel Mepin und Philomène Atyame dargestellt wird, kreist um Vergangenheitsbewältigung und gegenseitige Kulturannäherung. Um dieses Ziel zu erreichen, bieten Jan und Aleida Assmann mit dem Begriff „Kulturgedächtnis“ theoretische Grundlagen, die meine Überlegung plausibler machen können.

Abstract:

Seit den 1990er Jahren wird die Grenzregion zwischen Mexiko und den Vereinigten Staaten von Amerika – insbesondere Ciudad Juárez – von Hunderten von Feminiziden erschüttert. Es handelt sich um Morde an Mädchen und Frauen, deren geschändete und verstümmelte Körper später in der Wüste in der Umgebung der Stadt oder auf Müllhalden wiederauftauchen, während die Täter ungestraft davonkommen. Diese Leichname sind nicht nur Ausdruck verschiedener Arten von Gewalt, sondern verweisen auch auf bestimmte soziale und kulturelle Strukturen, die zu den beschriebenen Morden führen, auf Korruption oder auch auf (postkoloniale) hierarchische Machtstrukturen. In den letzten Jahren haben die Medien den Feminiziden in der Grenzregion immer mehr Aufmerksamkeit gewidmet, sowohl von nationaler, als auch von internationaler Warte. Der vorliegende Beitrag analysiert die literarische Darstellung der Feminizide im Roman 2666 (2004) von Roberto Bolaño und möchte Perspektiven und Möglichkeiten einer solchen literarischen Darstellung von Gewalt beleuchten.

Abstract:

W artykule przedstawiono narracyjne strategie oporu literatury postkolonialnej w kontekście stworzonego przez Gilles’a Deleuze’a i Félixa Guattariego pojęcia literatury mniejszej. Przedmiotem rozważań jest też pytanie o łączliwość Deleuzjańskiej myśli z problemami teorii postkolonialnej. Na to pytanie odpowiedzi udzielone zostały między innymi w książce Deleuze and the Postcolonial pod redakcją Simone Bignall i Paula Pattona. Mniejszościowe użycie języka omówiono również w związku z rozważaniami Jacques’a Derridy na temat przywłaszczania cudzej mowy i jednojęzyczności. Celem szkicu jest refleksja nad tym, dlaczego literatura postkolonialna może być ujmowana jako „mniejsza” w znaczeniu zaproponowanym przez Deleuze’a i Guattariego oraz jak wykorzystuje potencjał języka do manifestowania doświadczenia i tożsamości podporządkowanych.

Przedmiotem artykułu są wybrane polskie narracje migracyjne powstające na Wyspach Brytyjskich po wstąpieniu Polski do Unii Europejskiej. Autorka analizuje tę prozę przez pryzmat psychoanalizy i teorii postkolonialnej. Szczególnie zwraca uwagę na stosowalność kategorii „hegemona zastępczego”, zaproponowanej przez Ewę M. Thompson. Historia Polski od czasu rozbiorów po późne lata komunizmu stwarzała warunki, które sprzyjały wciąż ponawianemu doznawaniu przez członków podbitej populacji wstydu i upokorzenia. Odcisnęło to trwały ślad na psychice polskiego podmiotu, który uciekał w utopijne wyobrażenia na temat Zachodu. Przemiany społeczne, między innymi globalizacja i otwarcie granic, sprzyjały masowej migracji Polaków na Wyspy Brytyjskie. Tym samym fantazmat został zrealizowany – polski postkolonialny podmiot, znalazłszy się w wymarzonym miejscu, mógł dokonać konfrontacji oczekiwań z rzeczywistością. W referacie autorka poszukuje odpowiedzi na pytanie o to, w jakiej mierze w narracjach polskich migrantów na Wyspach Brytyjskich postkolonialny resentyment, ufundowany na „pamięci ofiary” i wzmagany aktualnymi doznaniami wstydu, upokorzenia i onieśmielenia w miejscu przemieszczenia, determinuje kształtowanietożsamości podmiotu wypowiedzi.

Dyskurs postkolonialny we współczesnej literaturze rosyjskiej jest uwarunkowany specyfiką rosyjskiej kolonizacji, którą najciekawiej scharakteryzował Alexander Etkind w swojej koncepcji kolonizacji „wewnętrznej” i „zewnętrznej”. Koncepcja ta stanowi podstawę przedstawionych w artykule analiz powieści Spiaszczije ot pieczali [Śpiący ze smutku] Very Galaktionovej. Akcja powieści rozgrywa się w małej wiosce w północnym Kazachstanie, zamieszkanej głównie przez Rosjan. Percepcja powieści oparta na koncepcji kolonizacji „wewnętrznej” i „zewnętrznej” pozwala wyjaśnić związek postkolonialnej traumy z kryzysem moralnym i religijnym, który dotyka nie tylko mniejszość rosyjską w byłych republikach sowieckich, ale również Rosjan w samej Rosji. Between “Internal” and “External” Colonization. Vera Galaktionova’s Novel Sorrow Sleepers Postcolonial discourse in modern Russian literature is conditioned by the peculiarity of Russian colonization, which was most interestingly characterized by Alexander Etkind in his conception of “internal” and “external” colonization. This conception became the basis of the analyses of the novel Sorrow Sleepers by Vera Galaktionova presented in this article. The action of the novel takes place in a small village in Northern Kazakhstan, inhabited basically by Russians. The perception of the novel based on the conception of “internal” and “external” colonization allows to explicate the connection between the postcolonial trauma and the moral and religious crisis, which hits not only the Russian minority in former Soviet republics, but the Russians in Russia as well.

Abstract:

The article explores the relevance of postcolonial studies for critical social analysis. It introduces core themes of postcolonial studies as well as their critique as a basis for an exploration of postcolonial perspectives on resistance and transformation, feminism and globalisation. The authors demonstrate the thematic variety of postcolonial studies and the ways in which they combine investigations of material and discursive aspects in their analyses of colonial inflections in past and present power relations. Drawing on foundational anticolonial as well as current postcolonial literature, the article points out the implications of epistemological and methodological innovations/ reconceptualisations within postcolonial studies for critical social inquiry.

Abstract:

Neopoganizm postrzegany jest zwykle jako zjawisko marginalne pod względem skali społecznegooddziaływania. Rzutuje to nie tylko na atrakcyjność jego praktyk, ale również na kwestię nośnościeksponowanych w nim treści światopoglądowych. W artykule podjęta została próba ukazanianeopoganizmu w szerszej perspektywie historyczno-kulturowej, uwzględniającej tak ogólnezagadnienia jak tożsamość kulturowa czy kultura pamięci. Autor stawia przy tym pytanie, czyneopoganizm, z jego marginalnością i utopijnością, można uznać za zjawisko wpisujące się w problematykę postkolonialną (postzależnościową). Uważa, że w przypadku takich krajów jak Polska neopogański konstruktywizm może być traktowany jako sensowna próba poszerzenia bazy symbolicznych odniesień dla refleksji nad własnym usytuowaniem na osi centrum – peryferie.

There are practically no comprehensive studies on the history of Flemish postcolonial literature.A new book by Luc Renders, which was published in 2021 under the title De mislukking van debeschavingsmissie. Het Nederlandstalige Congoproza van 1960 tot 2020 and is a continuation ofKoloniseren om te beschaven. Het Nederlandstalige Congoproza van 1596 tot 1960 (2019), aspiresto fill this gap. Renders’ pioneering work is the very first such detailed exploration of Flemish postcolonialliterature. Here, Renders provides a subjective view of postcolonial literature in Dutch, andestablishes his own hierarchy of what is valuable and important in this literature. One of his mostinteresting (and controversial) reevaluations concerns the work of Jef Geeraerts and the status ofthis writer within the postcolonial Flemisch literature about the Congo.

Abstract Der Beitrag untersucht anhand von Jurij Brězans Roman Der Gymnasiast, wie sich die deutschsprachige Literatur der Sorben nach 1945 des literarischen Musters der Dorfgeschichte bedient, um interkulturelle Konflikte und Marginalisierungserfahrungen darstellbar zu machen. Mit einem postkolonialen Ansatz wird dabei gezeigt, dass Brězans sorbisch-deutsches Provinzerzählen die Lausitz nicht nur als einen Ort entwirft, der Formen der Kolonialisierung ausgesetzt ist, sondern auch als kulturell hybriden Raum neukonzipiert.By analyzing Jurij Brězan’s novel Der Gymnasiast, this article investigates how German-language literature of the Sorbs after 1945 appropriates the genre of Dorfgeschichte to depict intercultural conflicts and experiences of marginalization. A postcolonial approach shows that Brězan’s Sorbian-German rural storytelling not only conceives of Lusatia as a place that is subject to various forms of colonization but also reconceptualizes the region as a culturally hybrid space.

Abstract:

Literary hybridity necessitated by cultural differences is a distinct feature of Postcolonial Europhone African Literatures. This is evident in Chimamanda Adichie's Purple Hibiscus (2000). This paper examines the hybridity in the source text (ST) and their translation from English into German. Instances of hybridity in the source text and their translation were identified. This highlights the translation strategies in the process of analyzing the translation choices and their implications, especially in transferring culture-specific elements in the source text into the target text (TT). Some challenges of intercultural translation are discussed in relation to the reflection of the author's style in literary translation. The paper reveals the consciousness of the translator to preserve the culture-specific elements that portray the author's culture and purpose through the adoption of ethnocentric strategies. Nida's equivalence theory was adopted to examine the translation of cultural phrases to determine how they were transferred to German language, and also discuss the implications of some choices made by the translator in propelling intercultural dialogue through translation. The study concludes that the translator's effort to strike a balance between the source and the target text was challenged as a result of inability to provide explanation for some unexplained culture-specific terms of vernacular origin in the source text.

Abstract:

Zusammenfassung Anhand konkreter Beispiele wird das Konzept glokaler Literatur skizziert und gezeigt, wie sich damit im Fremdsprachenunterricht arbeiten lässt. Dabei werden deutschsprachige und internationale Werke und ihre Übersetzungen einbezogen. Glokalität wird darüber hinaus als literaturdidaktischer Ansatz im Kontext von Inter- und Transkulturalität entfaltet und mit postkolonialer Theorie in Verbindung gebracht. Glokal verweist auf die Wechselwirkung zwischen globalen und lokalen Handlungen und Entwicklungen, Ideen und Entscheidungen (vgl. Schubert/Klein 2011) und nimmt im Kontext politischer Bildungsarbeit weltweite und innergesellschaftliche Machtverhältnisse in den Blick. Es stellt eine Fokussierung des globalen Lernens auf die Reflexion von Interdependenzen zwischen dem Globalen und dem Lokalen dar, wozu auch die historisch entstandenen und bis heute nachwirkenden Verflechtungen der Kolonialisierung als einer frühen Form heutiger Globalisierung bis hin zur Gestaltung eines nicht-pseudo-paternalistischen, gegenüber westlicher Hegemonie kritischen Nord-Süd-Dialogs gehören. Teza. Astrid Roemer, pisarka pochodząca z Surinamu, mieszkająca przez wiele lat w Holandii, należy do tzw. pisarzy postkolonialnych. Badacze literatury wskazują na trudności z określeniem, kim są tacy twórcy. Problematyczna jest także kwestia przypisania Astrid Roemer do konkretnego pokolenia imigrantów. Pisarka adresuje swoje utwory do czarnych kobiet, pisze je jednak w języku niderlandzkim, który w Surinamie jest wyłącznie językiem urzędowym, co sprawia, iż jej powieści czytane są przez niewielki procent tej społeczności. W artykule autor stawia tezę, że twórczość Astrid Roemer należy zaliczyć do literatury wielokulturowej. Omówione koncepcje. Autor odwołuje się do koncepcji socjologicznej pierwszego i drugiego pokolenia imigrantów oraz studium historycznoliterackiego Urszuli Topolskiej (2009), poświęconego pisarzom o podwójnych korzeniach kulturowych, tworzących w języku niderlandzkim. Przywołuje także koncepcję transkulturowości Wolfganga Welscha (1994/1995) oraz tożsamości wielokulturowej Jerzego Nikitorowicza (1995). Wyniki i wnioski. Zarówno w biografii, jak i twórczości literackiej A. Roemer można odnaleźć znaki transkulturowości oraz hybrydyzacji kulturowej. Oryginalność/wartość poznawcza podejścia. A. Roemer jest laureatką P. C. Hooft Award, holenderskiej nagrody państwowej, uważanej za najważniejszą nagrodę literacką w Holandii. Pomimo tego jest autorką niszową. Jej nazwisko znalazło się w zaledwie jednym podręczniku do nauki literatury niderlandzkiej ( Topolska, 2009).

W artykule analizuję koncepcję postkolonializmu w konflikcie, zaproponowaną w pracy Polska literatura postkolonialna. Od sarmatyzmu do migracji poakcesyjnej (2020) Dirka Uffelmanna. Nawiązując do najważniejszych prac badaczy polskich (Hanny Gosk, Doroty Kołodziejczyk, Magorzaty Zduniak-Wiktorowicz, Ryszarda Nycza), staram się pokazać założenia myśli niemieckiego slawisty, a także zrozumieć pozycję, jaką chce zająć tą pracą wśród innych badaczy postzależności kultury polskiej. W tym celu śledzę historycznoliteracki porządek przyjęty przez Uffelmanna w książce, próbuję także opisać jego poszczególne części. Szczególną uwagę zwracam na pojęcia samoorientalizacji, autoindianizacji oraz autoproletaryzacji, za pośrednictwem których autor ujmuje literaturę XIX, XX i XXI wieku (m.in. Henryka Sienkiewicza czy migrantów poakcesyjnych) w dychotomię ofiara – kolonizator. Pułapki tej dychotomii i sposób jej omijania bądź zaostrzania w dyskursie akademickim polskich badaczy postzależności omawiam w ostatniej części artykułu.

Abstract:

In this article, Paulina Wójcikowska-Wantuch analyzes the presence of postcolonial discourse in A Volga Tale, a novel by Guzel Yakhina, a Russian author of Tatar origin, whose fiction is concerned with themes of history and identity. Yakhina focuses on the tragic events of the Soviet period shown from the perspective of a single person and her fictions represent the post-memory trend in literature. She stresses the cultural and linguistic distinctness of the German minority, which ultimately fell victim to Stalin’s imperialistic policy. Yakhina exposes the destructive mechanisms of the imperial power, but refrains from unambiguous assessments of historical reality. She focuses on the problem of responsibility for one’s neighbors, emphasizing the importance of the characters’ individual choices. In the light of the ethical issues raised in the novel, the problem of national identity is of secondary importance. In connection with the above, A Volga Tale and also other novels by Yakhina elude any unambiguous assignment to postcolonial literature.

Ausgehend von ambivalenten Narrativen in religionsbezogenen Erklärfilmen von MrWissen2go alias Mirko Drotschmann fragt vorliegender Beitrag nach Perspektiven einer aktuellen Didaktik der Kirchengeschichte: erstens bezüglich Kirchengeschichte als Zugang zur religiösen Deutung der Wirklichkeit in säkularer Zeit, zweitens hinsichtlich postkolonial revidierter Ansätze und drittens in Bezug auf die Herausforderungen der Digitalisierung. Abstract:

Abstract In the history of Curaçao, the 30th of May 1969 plays an important role. On this day, black workers of the Dutch company Shell decided to strike against unfair wages and racial inequalities that dominated the company. The day ended in a tragedy: two people got killed by police bullets, parts of the capital Willemstad burned down in flames and the Dutch military was called into action. Since then, this day has functioned as a starting point for political debates on Dutch colonialism and as a catalysator for movements of black awareness on Curaçao. This article shows that the Dutch cultural memory of the 30th of May 1969 has been ‘compartmentalized’ and is therefore an ‘emerging memory’. It argues that the date seems forgotten in Dutch cultural memory, but has in fact reappeared in fragmented form through literature. An analysis of Dutch literary remembrances of the 30th of May 1969 shows that the Dutch cultural memory of Curaçao conflicts with a national self-image. Therefore, the colonial past of Curaçao is still not considered as a part of national history.
