Abstract:
The main topic of the doctoral dissertation Intersubjectivity and postmodern society: On the phenomenology of the Other is the problem of intersubjectivity. The work discusses the question of the other with the particular part of phenomenological thinking which does ask how we experience the other. Our starting point stems from the context of postmodern society, which we discusse in the first chapter ("The paradox of atomicity"). The aim of the second chapter ("Tacitness") is to enable us to phrase the question of the other properly. The third chapter ("Searching for the other in dialogue with Edmund Husserl") at first introduces selected fundamental concepts of the Husserl's phenomenology related to our topic (e.g. epoché) and then discusses the understanding of the other in Husserl's works Ideas Pertaining to a Pure Phenomenology and to a Phenomenological Philosophy - Second Book and Cartesian Meditations. The fourth chapter ("Breaches of harmony") is focused on such types of experience that problematize and disturb the altogether harmonic world of Husserlian intersubjectivity. We deal with the phenomenology of the blindness (Jana Moravcová) and the phenomenology of emotions (Jean-Paul Sartre). The fifth chapter ("Strange, weired eyes") uses the them of exile in the poetry of Josef Straka to...

Abstract:
(in English): This Diploma work is examining the relation between contemporary social conceptions and aims of education how these are expressed by curriculum documents mainly in Czech Republic. But this relation is not the case of easy and unidirectional impact of social knowledge to educational science. That is why the first part of this thesis is focused on four important postmodern philosophical and sociological concepts differently delimiting as distinct from modern society. General overview of contemporary society change characteristics proceeding from these analyses is the basis of rather different ways of pedagogical thinking followings. With three pedagogical conceptions simultaneously present in nowadays pedagogical discourse, but originally emerged in different eras and different social backgrounds I am trying to point to considerable antinomy demands on present aims of education. I am delineating which phrasings of social reality the contemporary Czech educational policy is rising from. I am stating that the reduction of social reality as background of education in general can lead to formation of ambivalences in suggested educational policy solutions. Finally this diploma work is trying to put forward brief proposals for solution of these new problems of education.

Abstract:
This diploma thesis polemizes with the relationship of human and smart technologies on a background of problematic of a postmodern society and aims to formulate a conclusion in that the use of smart technologies, given their current form and the current state of affairs in general, with its side effects may affect the form and nature of the whole society. By analyzing fundamental aspects of a postmodern society, particularly by reflecting on the processes of globalization, individualization, rationalization and relativization, complemented by illustrative examples of the effects of the use of smart technologies by ordinary and lay users, it is relating to the basic characteristics of current society. Its aim is to demonstrate imaginary spectacularness, in terms of the use of smart technologies and also in terms of the unfulfilled ideal of modernity, and it also aims to relate this imaginary spectacularness to the question of scientific and technological progress and also to the question of human nature as these are questions of the future development of the current postmodern spectacular society.

Abstract:
The main pillar of the family has become the couple's relationship: to satisfy individual needs and allow the possibility for self-realisation, for men and women alike. This gender position has become relevant with its influence on the whole society. Post-modern society has offered people more individual freedom and choice. The average age of groom increased from 24.6 to 28.9 and the bride from 21.8 to 26.5. In the town of Mirošovice during the period of 1974 - 1989 the average age of bride was 21.64 (period of 1990 {--} 2005 was 25.89) and groom 24.55 (period of 1990 {--} 2005 is 29.29). This confirms the assumption of hypothesis H1: Age of engaged couple entering marriage in the period of 1990 {--} 2005 is higher than in the period of 1974 {--} 1989. The aim of this dissertation is to map out the situation during the period of 1990 - 2005 and its comparison with previous years (likewise for a 15 year period, from 1974 - 1989). I have chosen a quantitative type of research and analysis of actual realities - primary and secondary data analysis, taken from the noted data files of permanent inhabitants from the town of Mirošovice. In the observed file (127 couples) there are married couples included, who have permanent addresses in Mirošovice, and whose marriages have lasted up until the 31. 12. 2005. Since the 1990s, the age difference between husband and wife has increased. There was also a rise in the number of couples where the woman was older than the man. In Mirošovice the total average age difference between engaged couples (not considering the gender of the older partner) during the period 1974 {--} 1989 was 4.49 years and during the period 1990 {--} 2005 was 3.92 years. Thus hypothesis H2 is confirmed: Age difference between partners who were married after 1990 (during the period 1990 - 2005) is less than the period 1974 {--} 1989. Also hypothesis H3: Age difference (more than 5 years) of engaged couples does not have any direct relation to the age difference of their parents, has been proved. Hypothesis H4: Age difference of engaged couples where the older partner is a woman, having direct relation to the age difference of bride or groom's parents, where the mother was older than father, has not been proved. The individualisation characterising current changes in the family bring with them, mainly to the most elderly lonely women, but also men, many social, economical, health and psychological problems.

Abstract:
The thesis deals with the study of issues of escape, nomadism and territorialisation with regard to postmodern society. These concepts are explored on the basis of works by two French postmodern authors: Giles Deleuze and Michel Maffesoli. However, the analysis of seemingly similar ways of telling about these topics is to prove their considerable difference with respect to their understanding of life, world and society. In the theoretical part, the research focuses on Deleuz's concepts of becoming, multiplicity and division of space into smooth and grooved and Maffesoli's concepts of postmodern society associated with neotribalism, its desire to wander and dynamic rooting. The analytical part of the thesis is based on these concepts to interpret the documentary cycle "Kmeny", which relates to the topic of urban subculture within the Czech Republic.

Abstract:
This thesis examines contemporary street art and its exhibition in galleries and museums in connection with Walter Benjamin's concepts of aura and authenticity in the postmodern period. Street art is posited as a marginal art evolving out of the tradition of 1970's New York graffiti that can be made to function as a type of anti-spectacle within the spectacle of the mainstream. Situationist theory and concepts within the agenda of Unitary Urbanism (psychogeography, the dérive, and détournement) are used to evaluate contemporary street art as anti-spectacle. Photography, as a primary method of documenting street art, is considered as a mechanically reproduced medium bringing into play discourses of repetition and originality, which are in turn related back to Benjamin's concepts of aura and authenticity. Andy Warhol, his Pop Art iconography, and practice of seriality are also considered as an influence on contemporary street art's imagery and underlying practice. Warhol's promotion of an "art star" persona is also related to such contemporary street art "stars" as Banksy and Mr. Brainwash.

Abstract:
In my master thesis I deal the with specific creation of communities on the Internet. The aim of this essay is to contribute to the debate about the problematics of the Internet and its role in the postmodern society. The basic idea is that the physical and virtual world leads to formation of communities. I believe that association with communities can be considered as a natural human phenomenon. Internet is perceived as a space, which provides the opportunity for its users to organize themselves into virtual communities. The question is if the creation of virtual communities is the goal of postmodern society. On the one hand Internet can be seen as a space of strengthening personal individuality, because of freedom and authonomy it provides. But on the other hand communities could place demands on their members, thereby they represent certain limitation of thein member's individuality. In this thesis I verify the hypothesis that the Internet is a space that leads to formation of virtual communities at the expense of developing one's own individuality.

Abstract:
The thesis "Searching for today's education" deals with a dynamic relationship between contemporary postmodern society and school institution, which is the heritage of modern period. This relationship is conceived in two different ways: theoretically by the approach of postmodern philosophy (represented here by the interpretation of works by Jean-Francois Lyotard, Michel Foucault, Jacques Derrida and Roland Barthes) and practically by the evaluation of high-school seminar Understanding contemporary situation that has been held for last year students of a grammar school in Prague. After the introduction and overview of past discussion on this topic the analysis of three basic values of modern school on the concept of indoctrination and neutrality were offered. Those values are education for the truth, education for the freedom and civic education. At the same time a certain tension between the truth and freedom on one hand and the civic education on the other hand occurs. In the next chapter I try to characterize contemporary society by plurality (de/legitimisation, fragmentarisation), relativising relationship to the reality (virtualisation, technologisation, medialisation), and problematising of the subject (problem of identity and marginalisation). In the main part of the thesis I interpret the...

Abstract:
This thesis intends to introduce Israeli folk dance from a number of different perspectives. In the first part, based on literature review, the author presents the origins of Israeli folk dances in Israel as well as their roots and the way they further function in a current Israeli society. Special attention is given to the problematic labeling of Israeli folk dance as "folk". The second part of the thesis is based on the author's own field work and describes the ways Israeli folk dances are practiced in the Czech environment. Whereas in Israel these dances are mostly connected with demonstration of Israeli identity, they get different meanings in the Czech environment. Firstly the author attempted to reconstruct the history of spreading of Israeli folk dances in the Czech environment and to map the different groups involved in these dances. Collection of these facts can be further used as an information source for all researchers wishing to conduct studies on Israeli folk dances in the Czech Republic in the future. Secondly the author concentrated on the ways of practicing Israeli folk dances in a Prague group called Besamim. Based on participant observation and interviews with the dancers the author attempted to illustrate the significance of these dances in the lives of people, who practice them...

Abstract:
The performance of the world{\crq}s biggest economies is slowing down and young people are the most affected as shown by the rising numbers of unemployment, especially among the youths. The aim of this thesis is to identify and map the impact of the global financial crisis on the unemployment of graduates in the South Bohemian Region. My intention was to test the hypothesis of my previous thesis topic ``Life targets of the unemployed graduates in České Budějovice`` and the data obtained by thos investigation/research is to be put into context with reference to the current state of the labour market. In this thesis, I have used the form of quantitative research. As a method of data collection, I have chosen to use interviews and document analysis. The technique, in this case, is the secondary analysis of data from the questinaire. The questionnaire was developed in two forms: on paper (printed copies) and on the Internet (the electronic form) in order to increase data. The questionaire consisted of 22 questions which are well related to the total psycho-social and economic well being of the unemployed and, in as much following the current set hypotheses: {\clqq}The most prefered goals in the lives of the unemployed graduates is to find a well paying job``, most of the graduates still remain in a period of unemployment and hence they are still living with their parents`` and {\clqq}Most of the unemployed graduates tend to adopt an active approach in finding a job``. I contacted the respodents through the job centres in South Bohemia Region. The first hypothesis proved to be wrong whilest the second and third hypothesis proved to be correct and hence the aim of the thesis was fulfilled. This is a very practical topic in connection with unemployment and this work can serve as a basis for further research, especially with subsequent use in schools. This work may also be used as a supplement for specialised courses focusing on issues of unemployment.

Today's architecture is distinguished by projective character which enables higher participation of users than former architectural traditions. New interconnection of society and architecture appears. It is characterized by higher degree of interaction. At the same time, higher relativization, individualization and virtualization of meanings emerge. Currently, architecture is cool medium through the lens of Marshall McLuhan theories. It is characterized by low definition. On the other hand, former architectural traditions were hot mediums with high definition. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

The thesis on the topic of "The Czech Societ and Maternity" is a micro-probe into the opinions and attitudes of Czech women in the early 21st century towards the questions of maternity. The theoretical part of the thesis provides basic characteristics of the Czech society position on the question of maternity from the point of view of currently valid legislature, demographical behavior of the population, and statistical data over the last two decades. It further presents basic sociological research results on this topic in 2004-2007. The focal point of the thesis is its empirical part which includes the analysis of the author's personal qualitative research carried out on an enclosed sample of women - mothers frequenting the X Maternity Center in the South-bohemian town of Pisek in the period of January 2007-February 2008. The thesis evaluates the subjective reflection of the women on how the Czech society and State assess maternity today, and how the question of maternity is approached by communal policy. Abstract:
Za téma své diplomové práce jsem zvolila historickou proměnu sociální role intelektuálů na pozadí sociologického konceptu transformace společnosti moderní ve společnost postmoderní. Základní teoretické východisko, resp. osnovu práce, pro mne představovala kniha polského sociologa Zygmunta Baumana "Legislators and Interprets" vydaná v roce 1989. Daný sociologický koncept analyzuji z několika hledisek, zasazuji ho do historického kontextu, a doplňuji o teorie jiných autorů, které Baumanovy postuláty potvrzují či s nimi polemizují.

Abstract:
The thesis is focused on subcultures as a specific form of postmodern collectivity as well as one of the important frames for identification and socialization processes in the postmodern society. The relations between these three fundamental themes - postmodernity, subcultures and identity - are examined from the perspective of symbolic interactionism, post-subcultures theory and cyberethnology. The basic argument is that specific (social) conditions of postmodernity influence (amongst others) the creation and the nature of new forms of scoiality (e.g. subcultures, neo-tribes, youth cultures), as well as the identity of these social groups and of individuals. Postmodern identity must be searched for, chosen, built-up and represented by the individual in a continual process. Due to the transparency of postmodern society, this actualisation of the self-identity depends on outside conditions, personal life politics and achieved status rather than on the ascribed one. Largely, the origin of the subcultural collective identity is based on a tendency remain in opposition to the commercial and passive mainstream. The borderline between subcultures and the dominant culture is not fixed but influenced by postmodern processes and consequently blurred. Rather, the difference between them is constructed and expressed...
