RNDr. Pavel Beneš, CSc. ABSTRACT: The research presented in this thesis completes the data with the information about so far neglected vocational schools students' attitudes towards chemistry. After the curricular reform, impact put on general education, including chemistry, brings considerable changes in this area. The questionnaire used was focused on three spheres: students' attitudes towards chemistry, didactical facilities used in chemistry education and students' attitudes towards particular chemical topics. The questionnaire was submitted to students (N = 959) at the beginning of the school year after they entered secondary school. That way the results reflect students' attitudes constructed at primary schools. The results show negative students' attitudes. They are mostly affected by the difficulty of the subject and also by students' low interest in the topics. It was also proved that topics close to students' lives play a vital role. Abstract:
1 ABSTRACT The diploma thesis deals with the attitudes of university students, who will become chemistry teachers, to chemistry and their views on various areas related to chemistry. This work follows the author's bachelor thesis, in which the public's opinion to chemistry was ascertained using a questionnaire survey. In the diploma thesis we focused on finding out attitudes of a group of future chemistry teachers through interviews. The theoretical part deals with the role of chemistry in today's world, chemophobia and the topic of attitudes. The practical part is based on interviews with respondents. This part contains basic information about the research - selection and number of respondents, questions used in the interview, the procedure for data collection and data analysis. One of the key findings was that respondents often lack the perspective and vision of chemistry in context. These are important qualities and skills that a chemistry teacher should have. Furthermore, the importance of teachers in the process of forming a relationship/attitude to chemistry was confirmed - teachers with a broader perspective lead students to a positive relationship to chemistry and they are able to enthrall pupils by chemistry. Key words: chemistry, opinion, attitude, chemophobia, interview, chemistry teachers

Abstract:
This master thesis investigates attitudes of pupils aged 13 to 15 to visual arts. The work is divided into two sections. Within a theoretical section, the focus is on pupils from the point of view of developmental and social psychology. The following section is dedicated to attitudes from the perspective of general and social psychology. Afterwards, the issue of educational institutions and their curricular documents concerning visual arts is discussed - whether the output of the subject fulfils particular goals of visual literacy. The theoretical section also mentions methods, forms and actions which can be used to mediate visual arts. An empirical section researches an answer to the question: "What are the attitudes of pupils aged 13 to 15 to visual arts?" In order to find out the answer, a quantitative research combining questionnaires and a method of semantic differential is conducted.

This diploma thesis deals with the attitude of pupils and teachers towards Russian as the second foreign language in the Czech school environment. The theoretical part of the thesis focuses on the role of Russian in the contemporary world, the history and the current position of teaching the language at Czech schools. What is also described are the linguodidactic and psycholinguistic aspects of foreign language teaching. The practical part of the thesis analyzes the data gained via a questionnaire survey focusing primarily on the aspects of the pupils' motivation to studying Russian and their expectations. It also deals with the attitude of teachers towards teaching Russian as the second foreign language. The main aim of the thesis is to clearly prove or prove false statements about what types of pupils choose Russian and why. The thesis discovers that the most frequent reasons for the choice of Russian as the second foreign language are the simplicity of Russian (resemblance to Czech) and its euphoniousness and language attractiveness. The analysis of the gained data proves false the statement that Russian is chosen primarily by the pupils who dislike foreign languages. On the other hand, it proves the statement that it is often chosen by pupils with special educational needs. The survey also...

Katedra sociologie. Vedoucí diplomové práce PhDr. Ing. Petr Soukup. Abstract This thesis focuses on civic participation of Czech pupils in the realm of civil society. The main task is to find out which factors influence civic attitudes and engagement of youth in current society. There has been an increased interest in concept of civil society since the fall of Communist regimes in Central and Eastern Europe with respect to political, economic and social changes. These changes resulted in a need to rethink the content of civic and citizenship education. Firstly the author describes civil society as a context for civic participation with special emphasis on Czech civil society and then she deals with the theory of political socialization, which helps her to identify the key determinants of civic engagement. Family, school, peer groups and media are seen as the main agents of this socialization. Using data from the International Civic and Citizenship study the author concludes that context of schools and classrooms and motivation are the most important direct factors in civic engagement.

This thesis explores the different types of primary school teachers' attitude towards inclusive education of pupils with behavioural problems. Three main goals were attempted through interviews with teachers of different qualification. The first goal was to understand the differences between teachers' attitudes and opinions. The second was to identify the major reasons for said attitudes. The third goal was to review bill no. 27/2016, which deals with the issues of education of pupils with special needs and of exceptionally talented pupils. The respondents, who participated in this research, are currently employed as primary school teachers, as well as the Waldorf elementary schools and practical elementary schools. The research has shown that all respondents viewed the inclusion of pupils with behavioural problems as disadvantageous. This attitude can however be influenced by the type of school, or additional education in this particular field. This research concludes with a comparison to a U.S. research of similar goals. Understanding of students' attitudes is important in supporting their interest toward a particular subject. Students' attitudes toward science have been extensively studied and it has been showed that their interest decrease with age. In the Czech Republic, there are studies concerning pupils' attitudes towards biology at primary school, but high school students' attitudes towards biology are less known. Thus, the aim of this study focuses on high school students' attitudes toward biology and variables (such as gender, age, the most favourite subject and out-of-school activities) which affect them. In addition, the thesis focuses on the students' view of the particular biology fields taught at high schools, from the point of view of usefulness for life, difficulty and the level of attention given to them by teacher during the biology classes. The research was done using a questionnaire survey at high schools in the Czech Republic and the total number of 192 students took part in the survey. The results of the diploma thesis show that the attitudes of students towards biology are neutral. A more positive attitude towards biology was found in girls and younger students. The thesis describes, in the theoretical part, the origins of speech as the main means of interpersonal communication and presents development of reading literacy in students' ontogenesis with the emphasis on pubescent students. The thesis defines the phenomenon of reader socialisation and its development in time. The work addresses reader competence, its relation to contemporary education system and its significance in the present-day reality and the media society. In the end of the theoretical part, a contemporary level of reading literacy at secondary school students in the Czech Republic is presented. The practical part explores the development of reading literacy at secondary education students during their life with accent on the change in approach to reading when moving to a higher level of the education system and how the students themselves percieve these changes. Factors influencing the development of the participants' relationship to literature and motivation towards reading are also the subject of the research. The thesis explores respondents' attitudes towards school reading and the position of literature on their system of values in...

Abstract:
The aim of this work is to investigate, which behaviour at school is perceived by early adolescents (age average 14-16 years) as cheating, whether it is possible to classify this behaviour into specific types (factors) and whether these can be linked with individual student variables (sex, GPA, number of missed classes, student goal orientation, worry, self-efficacy, and achievement value), as well as with the contextual variables (parents goal orientation, teachers goal orientation, satisfaction with the school, neutralization, peer cheating behaviour, and cheating punishment). The obtained data were statistically evaluated (N = 401). Using exploratory factor analysis based on students self-reporting the frequency of the behaviour classified as cheating, two types of dishonest behaviour were extracted: cheating (copying, hinting) and falsification (forgery of signatures, absences). Two student factors, school approach (motivation) and to school avoidance (amotivation) orientation, and two context factors, teachers and parents goal orientation, were extracted as predictors of cheating. Results showed that neither parents nor cheating punishment had significant influence on cheating and falsification. The structural model confirmed that a positive relationship with teachers goal orientation and GPA had the highest influence on falsification. Student avoidance to school, student approach to school, and teachers goal orientation had the highest influence on cheating. Cheating and falsification were well correlated. The values of regression coefficients remained similar after removing the parent factor from the model. The structural equation model explaining the relationship of latent endogenous cheating and falsification variables with the three latent exogenous variables (avoidance to school, approach to school and teachers goal orientation) and the three manifest variables (sex, GPA and peer cheating behaviour), fitted the data well. The model explained 42% of cheating variance and 39% of falsification variance

Abstract:
This diploma thesis concerns the analysis of data from student, teacher and school questionnaires for PISA 2015 survey conducted in the Czech Republic. The conceptual framework of PISA 2015 questionnaire survey and characteristics of previous PISA and TIMSS surveys are briefly described in the thesis. As far as the student questionnaires are concerned, we have mainly focused on teaching methods used in scientific subjects and the attitudes of Czech students to these subjects. We have also taken interest in students' feelings at school, their satisfaction with life, their school ambitions, their interests, and the use of ICT. As for the teacher questionnaires, we have particularly chosen questions focused on teaching methods used in scientific subjects, teacher education and the relationship to their profession. Furthermore, we have processed questions from the school questionnaires focused on general information about the school, size of the school, school equipment and management, teaching staff and phenomena hindering the learning of students. The obtained data are presented in graphs and tables. If a question was part of any previous PISA or TIMSS survey, we compared the development of responses throughout the surveys. To evaluate these changes in the responses, we have used statistical methods. All...

Title: Using online tools to assigns and assess the work of secondary school pupils in mathematics Author: Jiří Vančura Department: Department of Mathematics Education Supervisor: doc. RNDr. Jarmila Robová, CSc., Department of Mathematics Education Abstract: Despite the long-term trend of technology implementation in mathematics education, there is not much research that would empirically and long-term monitor the impact of technology on pupils' knowledge. The presented three studies examine the potential benefits of using Khan Academy as a tool for assigning and assessing homework in mathematics at upper secondary schools. The studies deal with three groups of research questions. What is the attitude of pupils towards the Khan Academy implementation, and what benefit do they see in the online practice? Can pupils transfer acquired knowledge from Khan Academy to the school context? In addition to procedural knowledge, does Khan Academy develop a deeper understanding of the underlying concepts? At the time of the research, the author was the mathematics teacher of some of the participating pupils. Based on the results of these studies, the consequences and recommendations for teaching mathematics at upper secondary schools using online platforms are discussed at the end of the thesis. Abstract:
The thesis "Attitudes of Parents of Intact Children and Children with Disabilities to Inclusive Education" deals with the new paradigm in education, which is a model of inclusive education. The theoretical background focuses on factors influencing the formation of attitudes, including the socialization process, the influence of the environment, families and social stratification, the consequences of social exclusion, racism and xenophobia, ethnocentrism, stereotypes and prejudices. The factual basis of this diploma thesis is focused on the definition of key concepts that are closely related to inclusive education. In this section I looked at the differences between the concepts of integration, inclusion and inclusive education, the legislative framework of inclusive education, the definition of attitudes, health and social disadvantage, and the possibilities of educating disadvantaged pupils. In the empirical part of this diploma thesis were used qualitative methods of research. The key issue was to find out what attitudes are for parents of healthy and disadvantaged pupils, what is the difference between the attitudes of parents of healthy and disadvantaged pupils, what factors affect parents' attitudes and what is their awareness. Half-structured interviews were used to collect these data,...

Aim: The aim of the thesis is to find out if there is a possibility to change the pupil attitude towards the physical education at the primary school while involving the outdoor activities. Methods: All the data have been gained by the non-standardized questionnaire made for this purpose. It contains closed, opened and semi-closed questions. The questionnaire has been targeted at pupils of 5th and 6th grades of the primary school. Moreover the interviews have been taken to evaluate the classes. The data have been analyzed and evaluated in graphical and written form. Outcomes: The gained results have been compared with the assumptions formed before. The results show that part of the girl's experimental group reached the change in terms of the negative intensification. On the contrary in case of the boy's groups it came to the change in terms of the positive intensification of the attitude to physical education classes. Abstract:
The presented diploma thesis deals with the use of formative assessment in the educational area Man and His World. Its outcome offers a possible way of solving the shortcomings of the area in question which negatively affects pupils' attitudes towards the school subjects of this educational area. The theoretical part presents findings about the assessment in general, namely its definition, presentation of functions, types and forms of assessment. It also emphasizes the relationship between the objectives and assessment which will be a pivotal one in the educational area in question. It also discusses the specifics of this educational area in relation to the impact on pupils' attitudes. Findings about formative assessment are focused on the definition, analysis of advantages and methods of implementation into teaching. The empirical part is based on the findings from the theoretical part and is carried out by a mixed research design. Questionnaire, interview and observation was used as methods to conduct the research. The aim was to find out whether the pupils who are assessed formatively have a more positive attitude than the pupils, who are assessed only summatively. The established hypothesis assumes that the pupils who are assessed formatively would have a better attitude towards the subject,...
