Purpose: The aim of the article is to show the modified method of calculating the economic potential on the example of territorial units of the Upper Silesian Metropolis. Design/methodology/approach: Economic potential is a measure of a region's strength compared to other regions. In economics, potential is a substitute for socio-economic development. The methodology of calculating the modified economic potential of territorial units was discussed in the first part of the article, and an empirical example is presented in the second part. AbstractThis paper aims to provide a functional assessment of a country’s dynamics at a regional power level, through the development of a tool which shall examine the working hypothesis of a given country’s “candidacy” to emerge as a regional power. The power equation applied in order to have such an evaluation has been formulated in a visually enriched and prototype format, given that particularly the geopolitics activate systems of interactions dynamically changing into many dimensions. The scope also includes the criteria verifying the achievement of the regional powers’ objectives as well

Ease, comfort and efficiency are assumed desirables; they form the established norm of unquestioned values in commercial product design. The norm shapes our everyday. Those daily things considered mundane and commonplace, form how we go about our daily doings. How we actually live our lives. Design needs to be there to defend human interest; to approach the user differently than a passive consumer, to create space for human qualities in contemporary everyday life.  I have been exploring the potential of designing for effort, and argue for its value by giving examples. Abstract Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) is a powerful technique that can detect and provide information about different phenomena that occur on the corroding surface using alternating current signals. Several electrochemical reactions and associated phenomena, such as mass transfer and chemical reactions happening at and near the metal surface, occur simultaneously. Therefore, the EIS data conducted at a specific DC potential often contain mixed information about several of those reactions, while at other potentials the EIS data are dominated by a single electrochemical reaction.

Full text
Abstract:
The performance of 26 PVT-Systems was analysed and compared in IEA-SHC Task 60. The systems are located in countries with different climatic conditions. The applications range from direct domestic hot water production and heating of public swimming pools to heat pump systems with PVT as the main heat source of the heat pump. The Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) determined for the different PVT solutions give the possibility to compare the systems despite their diversity. The goal was to show the potential of PVT collectors in different fields of application. The results show that the integrat

Abstract:
Climate change is predicted to exacerbate agricultural losses from crop pests and pathogens by 1) expanding their geographic ranges, 2) reducing winter die-offs, and 3) increasing the number of generations produced per year. For example, numerous crop pests and pathogens have expanded their range northward since the 1960s due, in part, to warming annual temperatures.

Full text
Abstract:
This brief outlines the challenges of noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) and the pivotal role of individual decision-making in healthcare. It highlights behavioral biases influencing decisions and proposes a user's journey methodology rooted in behavioral economics to identify biases at key decision points, including the decision to be screened, appointment setting, attendance, and habit formation. By showcasing examples and research conducted by the IDB and other institutions, this note demonstrates how behavioral interventions can sometimes overcome these biases and bolster health programs by,
