These potential corrosion risks are mitigated by continuous application of a corrosion inhibitor and regular pipeline pigging to remove the solids. This report provides an up-to-date overview of Russian domestic and foreign policy issues related to the oil and natural gas markets. We also discuss the potential role of hydrogen in Russia’s short-term energy strategy. We present a succinct overview of the domestic determinants of Russian energy policy and then describe Russia’s ongoing and planned energy infrastructure projects. In doing so, we particularly focus on Russia’s recent efforts to bring its new hydrocarbon resources to global markets. We also discuss recent developments related to Russia’s dialogue with its key energy partners.

Abstract:
This paper employs a simple methodology to estimate the potential economic damages of the 2021 earthquake in Haiti. The country registered a magnitude 7.2 earthquake off the South Coast on August 14, 2021, that resulted in 2,248 deaths, 12,763 injured and substantial damages to houses and other infrastructure. An additional 329 persons remain missing. We estimate economic damages using econometric techniques and a dataset on natural disasters across a wide range of countries and over an extended time period. Based on this analysis, damages for the 2021 earthquake in Haiti are estimated to reac

This evaluation examines the IDB's Country Program with Haiti for the 2007-2011 period. IDB's strategic positioning in Haiti during this period was affected by the materialization of risks identified in the 2007 Country Strategy. The 2007 Country Strategy called for the continuation of support to Haiti's nascent recovery, noting political fragility, macroeconomic instability and natural disasters as the main potential risks. IDB's response to the 2010 earthquake was timely and relevant in operational and financial terms, although it lacked a clearly articulated long-term strategy. OVE conclude

The 2008-2012 Country Program Evaluation (CPE) concludes that the Bank's program was programmatically aligned with Government's National Plan for Human Development and addressed five areas essential for growth and poverty reduction. The one significant omission in the Bank's program from a development perspective was the lack of attention to governance an area identified as a priority for future strategies by the previous CPE. The Bank played a central role in financing the country's fiscal gap over the CPE period, reflecting increased country demand in the context of the global financial cris

Innovation has been shown to be a key factor in determining a country’s competitiveness and economic growth potential. Through investments in education and research and development, many developing countries have tried to avoid the “middle income trap” of stagnation by working to create high-value employment opportunities. To better understand country-level readiness to innovate, we have compiled a set of publicly available data indicators and created a data tool to illustrate innovation capabilities and infrastructure by country. Our approach builds on and advances existing national innovatio
