Afforested lands are different from natural forests in terms of hydrologic conditions, runoff generation potential, and sediment generation rate. These differences emerge due to changes in soil structure and vegetation density, litter amount, trees heights, and so on. In this study, a comparison has been made between natural forests and afforested lands in Kasilian – a watershed located in Mazandaran province, Northern Iran. China feels that by being the second world economy it has the moral obligation to actively contribute to a new conceptual model of world economic development. China proposes to develop global value chains led by Chinese companies. Investment and trade cooperation is a major task in implementing this initiative and the removal of investment and trade barriers as well as the opening up of free trade areas are targets to unleash the potential for expanded cooperation. In physical terms, it is a huge logistical and infrastructure project to link Europe and China with six land routes and one maritime silk road, but it is much more than this, because this vision comes embedded into the Confucian ideal of harmony and no uniformity abiding by political consensus with moral content on how different ethnic groups and different states can coexist and cooperate peacefully in a global project, fulfilling the Chinese dream of a harmonious world and a harmonious society.

This chapter focuses on the nature and consequences of a passion for leadership. The construct of passion for leadership is presented, as is a model of its potential behavioral and psychological consequences. More specifically, drawing from the dualistic model of passion, the chapter explains how harmonious and obsessive passion for leadership may affect high-quality and poor-quality leadership behaviors, respectively. Furthermore, the chapter examines how the two types of passion may influence leaders’ well-being differently. To advance the conceptualization of a passion for leadership, an agenda for future research is provided and the applicability of this new construct for practitioners in the field is explained.

We explore the relationship(s) between the design of artificial systems and the existence/form/implementation of democracy; and from the key perspective(s) of individual and collective freedom-of-thought/action. A basic premise is that humans are increasingly disadvantaged as a result of, or slaves to: unfettered automation, objectivity, abstraction and fragmentary thinking; as promulgated/aided by computers/systems/machines. Teachers who are charged with the role of collaborating learners' affairs require guidance and support for effectively discharging their responsibilities. However, their initial training does not empower them to handle this challenge. Providing an in-service training that incorporates structured mentorship program when in practice presents them with an opportunity to harmonize relationships, oversee learner activities for good cooperate governance, and enable the school to yield conducive teaching and learning environment. Drawing from social learning approach whose essence is action, reflection, communication, and co-operation, the benefits of a mentorship program have a potential of enhancing learner activities in schools. Accordingly, making provision for both formal and informal mentoring can empower and inspire courageous acts of contributing towards a sound school social order.

Abstract:
This chapter exposes how the realization of digital transformation (DT) derives from the decisional communication of rule-making “chosen” alternatives, which originate in the self-referenced informational space, according to the dual perspective of reality adopted in evolutionary economics. Based on a critical analysis of scholarly literature to identify key proposals that support the definition of DT strategies, this research establishes the relevance of the fundamental tenets of autopoiesis theory, such as operational closure, structural coupling, and languaging, in the context of digitalization, to harmonize such DT strategy proposals to the structure of the organization in terms of decision premises. The internal availability of these decision premises determines the type of digitalization potential that can be self-observed by the organization, reinterpreting the attributes of DT in a framework that recognizes the sets of DT alternatives as decision premise dichotomies, with implications for theory and practice.

Abstract:
This chapter provides a complex narrative of biblical translation in Protestant scholarship. It draws attention to Protestant efforts to produce a universal Latin translation as an intermediary between the original languages of Scripture and the vernacular. Despite the tendency to associate Protestantism with personal reading of Scripture, the multiple levels involved in biblical interpretation complicate any straightforward relationship between reformation, text, and individual reader. The Latin Bible translation also held the potential of unifying Protestants by becoming the basis of all vernacular translations. The attempt to harmonise Protestant theology through a single Latin translation, however, ultimately exposed deep divisions in Protestant biblical scholarship. The chapter also notes that Archbishop Cranmer not only extended hospitality to continental scholars fleeing from the restoration of Catholic worship under the Augsburg Interim, but solicited their work on the Latin Bible translation and laboured to bridge divisions between them.

Croatia has more than a thousand islands, a small number of which are inhabited and provide for a good livelihood throughout the year. Some of the islands are only occasionally inhabited, while others are uninhabited and have no or poor traffic links. Nevertheless, the islands are resources of exceptional value to Croatia. To date, little has been done to tap their potential: their authenticity and development have been poorly protected and fostered, and even hindered. Sustainable development, the harmonious union of people and nature that ensures that natural resources are used only to limits that are neither threatening nor causing depletion, is particularly important for islands, which is why they require the highest level of environmental protection. To ensure this, only activities that do not conflict with these guidelines should be especially encouraged. This chapter proposes measures for revitalizing islands. The chapter identifies opportunities for furthering island development by implementing low energy model.

Abstract:
Ubuntu is an African moral force and worldview that has held its primal societies peacefully together. It is interesting to observe that contemporary awareness of this concept in scholarship particularly associates Ubuntu with potentials to inspire global dialogue and peace efforts aimed at achieving harmonious human coexistence. Surprisingly though, this irenic dimension of Ubuntu has not received any systematic discourse as the literature on the concept shows. Accordingly, employing the human relations approach, this chapter draws on the pervasive literature on the intersections of Ubuntu and dialogue and particularly explores the intrinsic dialogic dimensions of Ubuntu for global peacebuilding efforts. Its basic presupposition is that the emphasis placed on the value of human relationship and peaceful coexistence by both concepts not only requires a systematic discourse, but also shows that indigenous cultural resources are available and viable for local and global conflict resolution efforts.

INCEFA-PLUS stands for INcreasing safety in nuclear power plants by Covering gaps in Environmental Fatigue Assessment. It is a five year project supported by the European Commission HORIZON2020 program that commenced in mid-2015 and in which sixteen organizations from across Europe participate. Specifically, the effects of mean strain/stress, hold time, strain amplitude and surface finish on fatigue life of austenitic stainless steels in light water reactor environments are being studied, these being issues of common interest to all participants. The project will develop proposals for improvem
