Full textIn the first part of this paper, the author examines the way the classical approaches of unemployment induce us to consider the unemployed solely from negative categories characterized by lack and handicap, and simply omit the daily practives and ways of life. In this outlook, labour is considered as un unsumontable horizon which is not questionned by classical approaches. In a second part, we should try to understand how and why labour has become a fundamental anthropological category and also to question the "virtues" usually given to it. Finally, the third part of this research explores the field of unemployment, detailling the same mine, resourceful practices, the way of acting, consumption forms, autonomy activities, sociabilities, times conceptions and self identity's construction of young unemployed and precarious people, through life stories. Taking the whole of the young unemployed's daily life into consideration, this brings us to break off with the prevailing stereotypes and with a sociology of labour, which makes of the latter, the key point of sociality
Lacroix, Anna. "Le pessimisme en littérature pour la jeunesse : le cas des dystopies pour adolescents." Master's thesis, Université Laval, 2018. http://hdl.handle.net/20.500.11794/33431.
Full textThis master’s thesis aims to analyse the pessimism in children’s literature, focussing particularly on its manifestation within dystopias for young adults. Children’s literature is traditionally regarded by many as an inherent optimist genre, as shown by the censorship to which it is regularly subjected, principally by the editorial process. In this context, it seems hard to explain the massive popularity wave that the dystopian novels for young adults experienced in the wake of the XXI century. This genre, displaying an usually futuristic fictional society in which evolves a character who suffers and who desires to revolt against it, is indeed characterized by a pronounced pessimism. This master’s thesis questions the way authors of dystopias for young adults harmonise the inherent optimism of children’s literature and the pessimism of the dystopian genre, while posing the hypothesis that the said pessimism is presented to the young target audience in a much attenuated state. A comparison between a corpus of novels intended to teenagers and another one that has an adult target audience was used in order to study our hypothesis within two main aspects, the character and the society, as well as other mitigating factors that can be seen throughout the book. We think these various elements all contribute to reduce the pessimism in dystopias for young adults by creating a familiar feeling for the readers and by lightening the burden that is resting on their shoulders and on those of the protagonists.

Full textThis research is a linguistic study of the french language in contemporary literature for young readers. The comparative works, based upon the contrastive analysis of "Vendredi ou les limbes du pacifique" and "Vendredi ou la vie sauvage" of Michel Tournier, is structured on rand two mains lines: 1. Textual components (narrative, descriptive, poetic, referential, intertextual and argumentative). 2. Syntactic, lexical and rhetorical levels. The aim of this analysis is to show, by the means of linguistic criterions, if does exist or not a specificity of the language of the literature for young readers

Full textThe arab military defeat of 1967 resulted in the emergence of a new type of children's literature in the arab world. The subject-matter of this literature is more topical, the sources more diversified, the themes more appealing, the form more modern, the substance richer. Hense the need for us to analyse its specific features. This investigation has made us aware of the necessity of throwing into relief the social conditions, the psycho-educational and aesthetic aspects which contribute to weaving a relation between discourse and society, author and child. The study of sources and themes has led us to identify the historical influences: the impact of islam, that of the nationalist ideologies and the values they propound as well as the social imperatives. Our research confirms the following hypothesis: children's literature is a literature made-to-measure. It further shows a discrepancy, a "lopsidedness" between the author's intention and the child's response. In order to circumvent censorship, the writer resorts to fantasy, to a symbolic bestiary or to an antropomorphic presentation of nature. As a conclusion we can venture the following exploration: besides its more overt and numerous objectives, arabic children's literature has been produced essentially for the purpose of giving a convenient alibi to authors. They entrust their readers with a mission which they, adults, have been unable to fulfil : i. E. Building up a great motherland and a new modern democratic arab society
Acerra, Eleonora. "Les applications littéraires pour la jeunesse : œuvres et lecteurs." Thesis, Montpellier 3, 2019. http://www.theses.fr/2019MON30106.
Full textThis dissertation focuses on a very recent and still unestablished digital artifact: children’s literary applications. From a perspective that combines literary education and digital literary theory, we develop two research lines, aimed at defining both the structures of the apps and their potential role in promoting young readers’ multiliteracy competencies. Two main objectives are thus pursued: describing and analyzing the apps, by questioning them as literary “technotexts” [Hayles, 2002] intended for a specific audience; analyzing their actual reception and, more particularly, their comprehension and interpretation among children, observing both their actuals manipulations on the screen and their retrospective recalls of the stories. Therefore, the first part of this study offers, on the one hand, a broad view on the editorial offer and, on the other hand, a close reading of its main features and literary “figures”. The second part is dedicated to the observation of five groups of empirical readers and is aimed at verifying how they approach and understand digital literary works, thereby responding to their interaction requests with an “actualized interpretation” [Jeanneret, 2000] that results from a subjective reception of the text

Full textChildren's literature nowadays asserts the predominance of an iconic logic and clears away the former conception of the illustration subjected to the text. Today the whole book presents itself as a visual object and requires to be analyzed as such. This is no episodic characteristic, but rather a phenomenon to be linked with the evolution of media practices in the post-modern videosphere, and an echo of certain questionings in modern art. What are the direct consequences within the book of the several moving, multimedia and interactive images society targets at children? In becoming more and more aware of the psychological specificities of its readers, children's literature explores the ways to get an even more direct, immediate and attractive contact with children, re-using the modes of representation of other artistic fields, notably theater's apparatus. Picture books thus turn out to be a perfectly apt base to adjust to such alien apparatus and adapt it to their own codes, always highlighting the importance of communication. Their pages show the world to the children while mirroring their personal experience and emotions, and invite them to explore and people the image. The image thus becomes a mental landscape, a protective frame screening the relationship between the self and the world, and adapting its shape to the children. Paradoxically, the image is most visually powerful when its visibility is slightly altered and its own disappearance carefully staged. It thus gives birth to new forms of writing such as traces and clues, requiring great attention from the young investigator-reader

Full textThe results of our studies demonstrate the complexity of the infancy and childhood litterature - and clearly with the french expression reunioneese also – which disagrees with the simplistic prejudices that obviously are intense. This emergence of this litterature reveals the specialist’s growning interest for the young for whom social recognition has been late. Far from being an infralitterature, the infancy and childhood litterature has to get on well with individual’s needs in constant evolution: a long initiation takes place from the moment of the album reading to the preadolescent novels. Meanwhile, it is essential to offer him a material which calls for his personality and develops his reflexives capacities. The adult is influenced by his opinions and moreover by the cultural managers advice of whom the study reveals a system which doesn’t subordinate the cultural to the economic aspect of the book. However, the economic point of view partly explains the successive island literary perceptions. The reunioneese litterature is torn between exotic demand and the will to reflect a more authentic reality. To insist on the complex infancy and chilhood reunioneese french expression literature, we’ve demonstrated that G. Genette’s theories apply to our books then we’ve determined its specificities. The general complexity of the infancy and childhood litterature defines it and raises it up, in our opinion, at the adult litterature level. Far from being a sublitterature, it’s a full litterature

Full textThis thesis will look at juvenile delinquency and the protection of children in moral danger in late nineteenth century France. Following the studies relating to the history of penal administration, it will examine the workings of repressive action led against juvenile deviants or offenders at that time. The aim of this approach is to throw light on the juridical rationality of juvenile correction. Between the rise of the first juridical apparatus of correction in the 1830’s and the creation of specialized juvenile courts by the 1912 law, legislators, administrators, and philanthropists sort to reform the Penal Code of 1810. The Penal Code was founded on the basis of moral responsibility while the preoccupations of the governments of that period were to eliminate the causes of public disorder. Consequently, the Governments did not target the repression of juvenile offence for the danger of juvenile corruption was greater. The very term juvenile offender changed to include children who were victims of parental moral deviance, tramps and child beggars. The public action led against this ‘irregular youth’ began to make provision for risk prevention and promote family management, re-education by social workers, substitution of parental authority by correctional institutions and public assistance. This thesis shows how the criminal law was reviewed and changed in order to make better provision for children at risk and act in their interest and respect. Ultimately, a new form of law emerged at the crossroads of science, social expertise and justice

Full textThis work tries to explain the way how the historical novel for children appeared and evolved during the nineteenth century. Moral novels appeared within the “Œuvres des bons livres” and with the Catholic publishers who created collections specialised in moral education. Historical novels turned “classical” novels were considered at this time as subversive and were published for the youth rarely and with a great number of precautions. To tell history in a novel – as Augustin Thierry did for example - was badly considered among educational circles, even if the romantic movement and the taste for history were finally victorious. The first youth historical novels told about the Middle Ages and the chivalrous ideal: this ideal applied to the Revolutionary period. Successive political régimes played a part in the development of the genre, fostering some ideologies and practices. Many books had a great longevity, as one can see in the general editorial production of the time. The appearance of the idea of Prehistory, coinciding with the establishment of the Republic, was the ground of a new look upon the past. However, one can say that the past was dealt with during the century in a stable way, born with the divergent trends resulting from the French Revolution

Full textThe novel for young people has evolved since the 80ies toward a rich and complex relationship between the authors and their readers, perceptible in literary works. The ambivalent functions which have defined for long the specific novel style for young people, i. E. To untertain and to educate, are questioned nowadays. The writers are anxious to get away from a too simplistic reading agreement and to commit themselves to a wider social and artistic search concerning a larger audience. Starting from the two main objectives which however persist unsaid ( and which corresponde to the srong expectations of those who publish and prescribe). The thesis studies how the authors modify the rules of this style for young through subtle compromises and determined transgressions in order to make their own voice heard. .

Full textThis thesis studies fifteen Italian novels for young readers, published between 1900 and 1925, and narrating fantasy journeys. Some of these works were addressed to children and others, given their prolix content, could have been addressed more to teenagers. In our analysis of these works, we have associated a narratological approach to a sociological approach. First, we have reconstructed how the Italian culture between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries considered youthfulness, and additionally, we took into consideration the influence of the educators and the editorial markets of that time on children’s literature. Secondly, we studied the presence of the theme of voyage in this type of literature, the ideological contents and the literal dimension of our fifteen texts. The combination of these approaches allowed us to understand the narrative functioning of those works, while placing them in their first historical context upon publication

Full textThe narratives for children by pierre gripari show that the production for children is a real work and a work inseparable of the writer. In effect, they express the thought of a man, his judgment, his life. For some narratives, pierre gripari use stories and traditional's themes, but he don't hesitate to remove them. For the most, the use multiple ideas taken in his life of every day. For all, by some stylistics methods, he look systematicaly for the vitality, the variety and some aspects of realism. Pierre gripari is, like this, a proof of the everlasting renewal of the story
