The main method for large-scaled preparing powder superalloys in the production process is inert gas atomization, particularly vacuum-induced gas atomization (VIGA). A novel technique called electrode-induced gas atomization (EIGA) with a crucible-free electrode was proposed to prepare non-inclusion superalloy powders. In this study, a Ni-based superalloy of FGH4096 powder was prepared using both the VIGA and EIGA methods, while blanks were prepared through direct hot isostatic pressing (as-HIPed) near-net-forming method. This thesis introduces a novel aeroelastic approach to the design of blades for large-scale wind turbines. Larger blades driven by the demand for cheaper energy may incur aero elastic issues in design. A current blade is used as a reference for an aerodynamic analysis that maximises the turbine's yielded power at different wind speeds via optimisation of the blade's twist distribution. By noting that the total twist is the sum of pre-twist, elastically-induced twist and blade pitch, a distribution of elastic twist is identified. This distribution is induced by the blade bending so that it adap

The wind power industry is one of the fastest-growing renewable energy industries in the world. Since more energy can be extracted from wind when the density is higher, a lot of the investments made in the wind power industry are made in cold climates. But with cold climates come harsh weather conditions such as icing. The icing on wind power rotor blades causes the aerodynamic properties of the blade to shift and with further ice accretion, the wind power plant can come to a standstill causing a loss of power, until the ice is melted. Abstract. The tool tempering method is used to manufacture the functionally graded components. In the manufactured combined tool, one side was enhanced with cooling channels to perform the press hardening process, and the other side of the tool included heating cartridges to practice warm forming. Hybrid additive laminated tooling is used to manufacture the combined tool in a short time, while conventional subtracting methods, such as milling, are costly and time-consuming. Initially, the cooling rate and the heat transfer coefficient of the laser metal deposited area by Ferro55 powder are det

Abstract:
The objective of this project is to provide information about a problem material found in gas pipelines called "black powder". It is a mixture or a chemical compound of iron sulfides, iron oxides, dirt, sand, salts, chlorides, water, glycols, hydrocarbons and compressor oils, mill scale, or other materials. The most common constituents, iron compounds of sulfur or oxygen, are corrosion products. In addition to chemical formation, black powder can be formed by microbes normally found in gas pipelines. This material causes machinery, measurement, and pipeline maintenance problems. This research

Abstract:
Local elections are often contested on the grounds of public safety, but do elected officials have any power to curb crime? Black mayors have particular interest in the issue because Black communities are victimized by high levels of crime and fragile police-community relations. Using data on elections of first-time Black mayors, I find that police forces add more Black officers, a finding that is especially true for mayors with executive authority. Officers arrest 48 fewer potential Black offenders per 10,000 Black residents for crimes where they have the ability to exercise discretion, a fin

Beside carbon black, silica powder is the other important filler used to reinforce various colored rubber products. In order to improve the compatibility between silica particles and rubber phase, this work has focused on preparing an NR composite, reinforced by silica generated inside the NR matrix or ‘in situ’. The silica particle was formed by a sol-gel process of tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) dispersed in NR latex. The latex used was concentrated latex having 60% rubber content, and already contained water and ammonia, two ingredients needed for the sol-gel reaction. The conversion of TEOS to s

Abstract The demand for energy-efficient, real-time computing is driving the evolution of neuromorphic computing and edge AI systems. Traditional silicon-based processors struggle with power inefficiencies, memory bottlenecks, and scalability limitations, making them unsuitable for next-generation low-power AI applications. This research report explores how 2D materials, such as graphene, transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs), black phosphorus, and MXenes, are enabling the development of neuromorphic architectures that mimic biological neural networks for high-speed, ultra-low-power computat

The original objective of this research was to investigate means of controlling materials ingested into compressors in pipeline, refinery, gathering, and storage services. After an initial industry survey, it was determined that "Black Powder" (various forms of iron sulfide mixed with contaminants) is the least understood and most prominent contamination problem in pipelines and their compression equipment. The information documented in this report was gathered from technical literature, the Internet, researchers, experts, practitioners in the natural gas industry, field experience, and equipm
