Additive manufacturing is an increasingly popular industry that has gained significant traction in the last decade. Today there exists no way to predict how a powder will spread in a powder bed additive manufacturing machine or how well it will form into thin layers. This is important because major costs can be saved by using a test that predicts the spreading behaviour of powder. This ability to be spread will be given the name spreadability. To test the spreadability of powder, a machine that mimicked the pushing of the powder in powder bed additive manufacturing was used. Since there exist

Abstract:
Recently, closed cell cellular metals have been gaining a very high interest due to their unique characteristic applications in various technology domains. They combine the advantages of a metal with the structural advantages of foam. Among these, aluminium foams have created a great interest due to their light weight structure and their various applications in the automotive, aerospace and allied industries. Aluminium foam possesses high stiffness and low density, it has good energy-absorbing properties making it good for crash-protection and packaging and it has attractive heat-transfer prop

Abstract:
The consumption of turmeric supplements is increasingly popular and is reported to provide numerous health benefits including antioxidant, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, anticarcinogenic, chemopreventive, chemotherapeutic, antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal and antiplatelet activities [1]. However, in recent months there has been a number of reports of hepatotoxicity linked to the consumption of these supplements. Such reports and scientific publications led to a review of the safety of turmeric and curcumin by the UK Committee on Toxicity of Chemicals in Food, Consumer Products a

Abstract:
Our overall, long-term goal is to exploit the genetic diversity present in cereal wild relatives for the development of cultivars with durable disease resistance. Our specific objectives for this proposal were to: 1) Utilize Association Genetics Resistance Gene Enrichment Sequencing (AgRenSeq) to identify and clone powdery mildew and leaf rust resistance gene complements in wild barley and 2) Conduct comparative sequence analyses of the cloned resistance genes to elucidate the basis of their specificity and evolution. The deployment of resistant cultivars is the most effective, economically ef

Abstract:
The objective of this project is to provide information about a problem material found in gas pipelines called "black powder". It is a mixture or a chemical compound of iron sulfides, iron oxides, dirt, sand, salts, chlorides, water, glycols, hydrocarbons and compressor oils, mill scale, or other materials. The most common constituents, iron compounds of sulfur or oxygen, are corrosion products. In addition to chemical formation, black powder can be formed by microbes normally found in gas pipelines. This material causes machinery, measurement, and pipeline maintenance problems. This research
