Abstract:
For developing a reliable Power Line Carrier Communication (PLCC) system, it is extremely important to know the characteristics of different subsystems in PLCC and power lines. The circuit used to superimpose carrier signal from the transmitter with high potential power lines is termed as line tuners. The design and simulation of a capacitive type line tuner meeting IEC 60481:1974 and IEEE Std C93.4-2012 are included in this article. The wave trap allows the power signal to pass through but blocks the high-frequency carrier signal to reach terminal equipment which works at 50/60 Hertz. Three types of wave traps are studied as part of this paper: single frequency, dual frequency, and wideband wave traps. Impedance characteristics obtained in simulation show effective rejection of carrier signal as desired. The distribution power transformers are an inevitable part of the power line network which offers high attenuation to carrier signal as being inductive it functions as low pass filter. To overcome this problem a bypass circuit which could be incorporated in future power transformers is proposed in this article. The Resistance, Inductance, and Capacitance (RLC) parameter of the power line cable used in the simulation model are derived based on the experimental values observed on an actual 11 kV underground cable and thus replicates actual field conditions. A complete PLCC system with all the above components is presented in this article and can be used as a testbed by designers to validate the MODEM for communication in different topologies by modifying the elements according to actual field conditions.

Abstract To verify the advantages of deterministic matrix applied to power line carrier communication (PLCC) based on compressed sensing (CS). This article analyzed the research status of commonly used deterministic measurement matrices, and made simulation comparison. It is found that different types of deterministic measurement matrices generated based on chaotic mapping had higher reconstruction accuracy and higher reconstruction efficiency than Gaussian random matrix. Then, according to simulation results and the characteristics of PLCC signal, the Chebyshev sparse circulant (CSC) measurement matrix was designed by combining eighth-order Chebyshev chaotic and the idea of sparse and circulant. Actual circuit measurement shows that when compression rate was 40% and 60%, the reconstruction loss of CSC is 0.72dB and 0.49dB higher than that of Chebyshev chaotic measurement matrix and Chebyshev circulate measurement matrix, respectively. Obviously, the CSC measurement matrix designed in this paper can effectively improve the reconstruction accuracy.

Abstract:
In this paper, a comprehensive power line test bed for the automatic meter reading (AMR) system is developed. Such a test bed builds a 220[Formula: see text]V power line environment in which the intensity and types of simulated noise can be configured very flexibly. It facilitates the fast analysis of the running condition of AMR system and power line carrier communication (PLCC). In particular, a new simulation technique, which is dedicated to modeling the power line cyclostationary noise, is proposed in this paper through analyzing many unique power line noise characteristics. It is further integrated with a noise simulator which handles the controllable noise replayer and time-varying loads to make the whole simulation system more salient. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed simulator is highly effective. Our simulator can handle the communication tests with a wide frequency range, from 10[Formula: see text]kHz to 500[Formula: see text]kHz with high accuracy.

With the growing demand for access to broadband data networks, there is a need to integrate the various data communication technologies. In this scenario, PLC networks can o er a viable alternative as a provider of network access, since they use the infrastructure of the transmission lines. However, the electrical network is a hostile medium for data transmission, presenting impedance mismatches, noise interference and signal propagation in multipath, characterizing the PLC channel model. With the objective of increasing the data transmission rate, as well as to obtain a better utilization of available bandwidth, the present work proposed to replace the OFDM technique by FBMC in PLC networks. For this, a study of the channel model was carried out to obtain the necessary parameters for the computational simulations through Matlab software. The OFDM and FBMC techniques were implemented according to IEEE 1901 standard technical speci cations. With the results obtained in the simulations, it was veri ed that the FBMC is more robust the channel interferences, presenting gains of up to 8 dB in the bit error rate, and an increase in the data transmission rate and spectral e ciency of up to 25% in relation to OFDM. Therefore, the FBMC technique can be implemented at the physical layer of the IEEE 1901 standard, replacing OFDM.<br>A presente dissertação apresentou uma análise comparativa entre as t_ecnicas de modulação OFDM e FBMC, aplicadas na tecnologia Power Line Communication (PLC), considerando modelos realísticos de canais.

The theses is focused on the use of PLC technology. The aim of the thesis is creating device which communicates in a narrowband transmission frequency band. Transmission of communication between plc elements runs through the low voltage distribution network. The frequency and phase modulations are used in order to change the character of data signal. Transmitter and receiver parameters are subjects to the CENELEC standard. The theses gives more attention to the area of hardware build communication element rather than the area of programming.

AbstractPhase Data Concentrator (PDC) is an important part of Wide Area Measurement System (WAMS) and is widely used in transmission systems. WAMS technology will also be applied in smart distribution network, which has many nodes, complex architecture and various types of data transmission services, and a single communication mode cannot meet its needs. In order to solve this problem, this paper first introduces the composition of WAMS system, communication network mode, and discusses the access layer communication network mode. According to the main station, sub-station interaction process design a synchronous phase data set device that can carry out up-down communication and mix network by various means of communication. Finally, the experimental environment of Power Line Carrier (PLC) and twisted pair network communication is set up to verify.

Abstract:
Power Line Communication (PLC) uses the available power line as a communication medium. The purpose of this chapter is to present the salient features, current trend and future scope of PLC with emphasis in the Indian context. Unlike other channels available, power lines are harsh media for data transfer and require efficient modeling and simulation techniques to propose and implement suitable mitigation schemes for achieving acceptable performance. Designed equipments have to adhere to strict mandates at the national and international levels to account for issues related to electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). In spite of this, PLC is expected to occupy an important place in the networking market in applications of smart grid and as a component of heterogeneous/hybrid communication system. The chapter is also backed by results from experiments carried on a typical power line in a test site with a presentation of noise, transfer characteristics, modeling and an estimate of the channel capacity.
