This thesis describes the research of a new transformerless three phase PWM converter for uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) applications. The removal of the bulky three phase transformer in larger power UPS can provide a significant saving in weight and cost of the overall system. The converter consists of a new four-wire rectifier coupled with a four-wire inverter via a dc bus. The supply and load neutral may be connected together without any neutral current flowing into the utility regardless of the load on the inverter. This allows the load to be at the same potential as the utility. The

Abstract:
Conventional single phase AC/DC converters use a two stage power configuration to provide a regulated DC power supply at high input power factor. Elimination of one of these stages can reduce the cost, weight, size, complexity and increase the overall reliability of this converter. This thesis proposes a single stage power factor correction converter circuit. This proposed converter circuit uses the traditional non-power-factor corrected circuit configuration with only few additional components. These are: an additional winding on the high frequency transformer, a small high frequency inductor

碩士
國立臺北科技大學
電機工程系所
102
As generally acknowledged, energy saving has two methods. One is to upgrade the efficiency of the product; the other is to improve its power factor and reduce its harmonic distortion. In the power electronics product, the harmonic current affects the power factor and creates the undesired noise and the additional power loss. Therefore, the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) released IEC 6100-3-2 harmonics standards in 2001, and accordingly the harmonic limits were described in detail. In these standards, if the electronics product has the output

abstract: As the world becomes more electronic, power electronics designers have continuously designed more efficient converters. However, with the rising number of nonlinear loads (i.e. electronics) attached to the grid, power quality concerns, and emerging legislation, converters that intake alternating current (AC) and output direct current (DC) known as rectifiers are increasingly implementing power factor correction (PFC) by controlling the input current. For a properly designed PFC-stage inductor, the major design goals include exceeding minimum inductance, remaining below the saturation

Due to increase in modern power electronic systems the more emphasis is put on power quality. Nowadays, DC power supplies are widely used in most electronic equipment such as computers, battery chargers, variable frequency drives, and switch mode power supplies. The most commonly used AC-DC power supply configuration is diode bridge rectifier with bulk capacitor. This configuration involves substantial harmonics into the input side current resulting in poor power quality due to low power factor and high harmonic distortion. In fact, the substantial harmonics does not meet the regulatory standa

The PFC has slow system response because it has low one third or one sixth bandwidth smaller than 20 Hz. The low bandwidth is designed to reject AC interference of 60Hz coupling which could deteriorate system reliability in case of output load transient. This dissertation proposes the triple loop modulation (TLM) in PFC system to improve as fast transient response. When system is in steady state,

The derived circuits are obtained from the integration of a dual-switch boost-type or buck-boost-type power factor corrector (PFC) into a half-bridge resonant converter. With symmetrical topology, the circuit is simple and the voltage and current stresses on the two active power switches are identical to each other. The PFC is operated at discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) to achieve unity power factor. The re
