Abstract:
Power limits on future high-performance computing (HPC) systems will constrain applications. However, HPC applications do not consume constant power over their lifetimes. Thus, applications assigned a fixed power bound may be forced to slow down during high-power computation phases, but may not consume their full power allocation during low-power I/O phases. This paper explores algorithms that leverage application semantics-phase frequency, duration and power needs-to shift unused power from applications in I/O phases to applications in computation phases, thus improving system-wide performanc

The objective of this thesis is to develop a GIS-based simulation tool for optimising the size of 100% renewable electricity grid by utilising flexible electricity demand and generation. Different technology options are presented for load-shifting; electric water-heaters and air-conditioners from the residential sector, and wastewater treatment and desalination plants from the industrial sector. The impact on renewable electricity grid due to the shifting of electricity demand from these loads is described, and several options are highlighted that might be feasible from a policy point of view.

This study demonstrates that the prevailing approach to globalization and union power, the market pressures approach, cannot explain why labor unions lost power in Mexico. Power Quality (PQ) is an umbrella term that encompasses all the aspects connected with amplitude, phase and frequency of the voltage and current waveforms existing in a power circuit. Adverse Power quality environments refer to the transient conditions developing in the power circuit and eventually affecting the load and the source. Power Quality Monitoring refers to the task of detecting the disturbances in the system which leads to the deterioration of the Power Quality and the immediate execution of measures to compensate the same. The various disturbances that adversely affect the quality

abstract: In contemporary Indian literature, the question over which sets of Indian identities are granted access to power is highly contested. Critics such as Kathleen Waller and Sara Schotland align power with the identity of the autonomous individual, whose rights and freedoms are supposedly protected by the state, while others like David Ludden and Sandria Freitag place power with those who become a part of group identities, either on the national or communal level. The work of contemporary Indian author Aravind Adiga attempts to address this question. While Adiga's first novel The White T

Abstract:
At present, 12-pulse rectifiers with electronic phase shift are known. Unlike classic rectifiers, they do not use phase-shifting transformers and have a unit power factor. Increasing of the rectifier’s pulse makes it possible to improve the harmonic composition of the input current. This article is devoted to the study of the operation of an 18-pulse rectifier with an electronic phase shift. The use of the principle of electronic phase shift leads to different levels of constant voltage at the output of the rectifiers. The introduction of pulse-width modulation contributes to equalizing the ou

However, under UV and n-UV illumination, most of the electron-hole pairs are generated near the device surface and consumed easily through the recombination with surface defects, which is responsible for inducing rather poor performance. In addition, the high contrast of refractive indices between air and silicon also causes a high Fresnel reflection loss (~40%) at air-silicon interfaces and limits the performance of silicon-based photo

This research work deals with the application of the phase shifting transformer in improving the steady state performance and voltage stability of transmission network that has transmission lines at different voltage levels running in parallel to each other. Transmission power system networks are usually developed using lines built at a certain voltage level initially. As power demand requirements increase, building of the new lines at the same voltage level becomes necessary. However, lesser and lesser improvements in transfer capacity are realised when the additional lines are built. This pr

How to ensure the speed and ride comfort of the gearshift is an important index in the design of the gearbox. The successful application of ADAMS in system dynamics simulation can not only improve the simulation accuracy, but also shorten the product design cycle because of its kinematics and dynamics characteristics.
