Tuberculins purified protein derivatives (PPDs) are obtained by precipitation from heat treated mycobacteria. PPDs are used in diagnosis of mycobacterial infections in humans and animals. Bovine PPD (PPDB) is obtained from Mycobacterium bovis (Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex), while Avian PPD (PPDA) and Johnin PPD (PPDJ) are extracted, respectively, from Mycobacterium avium and M. avium subsp. paratuberculosis (M. avium complex). PPDB and PPDA are used for bovine tuberculosis diagnosis, while PPDJ is experimentally used in the immunodiagnosis of paratuberculosis. Although PPDs date back to

Pyruvate phosphate dikinase (PPDK) catalyzes the reversible conversion of AMP, phosphoenolpyruvate (PEP) and pyrophosphate (PPi) to ATP, pyruvate and inorganic phosphate (Pi). It is a key enzyme in gluconeogensis and photosynthesis that is responsible for reversing the reaction performed by pyruvate kinase in Embden-Meyerhof-Parnas glycolysis. A cDNA clone for the Dunaliella parva PPDK was isolated by sequencing. Then the 3'-RACE and 5'-cDNA amplification were conducted based on the obtained sequence. Bioassay-guided fractionation of one isolate led to the isolation of the known compound unguinol, which inhibited PPDK with a 50% inhibitory concentration of 42.3 ± 0.8 μM. Further kinetic analysis revealed that unguinol was a mixed noncompetitive inhibitor of PPDK with respect to the substrates pyruvate and ATP and an unco

Direct targets of the bZIP transcriptional regulator encoded by o2 include pdk1 and pdk2 that specify pyruvate phosphate dikinase (PPDK). This enzyme reversibly converts AMP, pyrophosphate, and phosphoenolpyruvate to ATP, orthophosphate, and pyruvate and provides diverse functions in plants. An evaluation of the parallel parent and daughter classes (PPDC) algorithm for solving population balance equations (PBEs) by discretization is presented. By using this technique, the discretized form of the PBE, accounting for breakage and agglomeration, can easily be split into aggregation and breakage part. Numerical solutions of the PBE on simultaneous aggregation and breakage processes with different kernels, obtained by using the PPDC technique, show good agreement with solutions obtained by standard method of classes, on a linear grid, and by the quadrature method of moments (QMOM). Abstract:
This study explored the current provision of information on allergenic ingredients by food businesses to consumers for non-prepacked food, and how this has changed since legislative changes came into force in 2014. The study also provides a new baseline on information provided for food prepacked for direct sale (PPDS).
