I review the evolution of Shakespeare’s value in formal education as literary heritage, and the tension that persists between his roles as literary icon and living artist. Peter Brook warns that Shakespeare is particularly in danger of becoming ‘deadly theatre’: admired and respected, but not alive to the moment of its production and reception. Abstract The effect of Sulfate Reducing Bacteria (SRB) upon the cathodic protection of XL 52 steel was determined, in order to identify if the potential value of -0.950 V vs. Cu/CuSO4 is good enough to protect the metal surface. During the experiments, different operational parameters were monitored: H2S production, iron concentration, electrolyte alkalinity, microorganisms population, as well as the metal surface damage. At the same time, the corrosion rate was determined using two electrochemical techniques: Polarization Resistance (PR) and Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS).; Acco

Non-isothermal suddenly expanding annular pipe flows of a shear-thinning non-Newtonian fluid are numerically studied within the steady laminar flow regime. The power-law constitutive equation is used to model the shear-thinning rheology of interest. Heat transfer from a wedge to fluids at any Prandtl number can be predicted using the asymptotic model. In the asymptotic model, the dependent parameter Nux/Rex1/2 has two asymptotes. The first asymptote is Nux/Rex1/2Pr→0 that corresponds to very small value of the independent parameter Pr. The second asymptote is Nux/Rex1/2Pr→∞ that corresponds to very large value of the independent parameter Pr. The proposed model uses a concave downward asymptotic correlation method to develop a robust compact model. The solution has two general cases. The first case is β ≠ −0.198838. The second case is the

A previous PRCI project (PR-015-084510, 2009) identified distributed temperature sensing (DTS) and acoustic emissions as potentially viable technologies for the detection of small leaks in liquid pipelines. Much of the assessment that led to this conclusion was based upon manufacturer-generated literature. However, there is a lack of existing, publicly-available test data on these technologies as they relate to detecting small leaks in liquid pipelines. Such data are needed by pipeline operators in order to determine the value in supplementing their existing leak detection systems with one of

This is a final project report which documents the attempts to find a field useable hardness tester that could be used to predict the risk of cracking in the heat affected zone. Only one instrument was identified that performed with reasonable consistency. The maximum hardness value below which the researcher considered the risk of cracking to be minimal is provided. The Welding Supervisory Committee is not completely convinced of the validity of that hardness value. Because the report endorses one manufacturer, it is designated for member only use.
