Abstract:
The starting point of this research is the observation that tutors in the Computing Sciences (CS) Department at NMMU require more support than they currently receive in order to be effective. This research project investigated how technology could be used to support tutors during practical sessions. Focus group discussions with tutors in the CS Department revealed that challenges exist which hinder them from effectively assisting students during practical sessions. This research explored the learning experiences of pupils during literacy intervention sessions in English primary schools, by examining the moment-by-moment interactions between teaching assistants and pupils. Teaching assistants have taken increasing responsibility for teaching and learning, including the teaching of group intervention sessions aimed at supporting those pupils not making expected progress in literacy. The effectiveness of any intervention is reliant on the moment-by-moment interactions as social-constructivist theory indicates that it is in these interactions that shared mea

While more robust authentication mechanisms exist, most of them fail to address the scale and security needs of these large-scale systems. These fields, I argue, offer testable frameworks with which composition instructors and scholars can teach and study writing practice.
