Abstract:
This study aims to describe perceptions, practicum results, and students' creative thinking skills in online and offline practicums. This research is ex post facto. The subjects of this study were 70 students of the 2016 and 2017 batches of the Department of Biology Education, University of Muhammadiyah Malang. The two batches experienced different treatments; the 2016 batch took offline practicums, while the 2017 batch took practicums online due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The research instruments consisted of (1) student perception sheets, (2) tests, and (3) creative thinking skills assessment instruments. Data were analyzed descriptively and inferentially using one-way ANOVA and Hotelling's T2. The study results show students' perceptions of offline and online practicum. Students tend to understand the material better in offline practicum than online, and students also think that offline practicum is more interesting than online. Other findings indicate that students find it difficult to understand procedures in online practicums compared to offline ones. In addition, students experience technical problems in offline practicums, especially those related to networks. In contrast, technical issues can be overcome in online practicums because students can consult directly with practicum assistants. Analysis of student practicum results shows no difference between offline and online practicum results from the aspects of understanding and activeness. Meanwhile, from the aspect of report value, the online practicum is better than the offline one. This study also shows that students' creative thinking skills in offline practicums are higher than online in terms of the four aspects of creative thinking and three aspects of assessment, namely data analysis, work methods, and lists of references. In general, student perceptions, practicum results and creative thinking skills in offline practicums are better than in online ones.

Abstract: This study aimed to analyze the relationship between practicum and student learning outcomes in the pre-pandemic and during the Covid-19 pandemic. The research method applied is descriptive quantitative research which is supported by data collection techniques in the form of interviews, observations, and documentation. The research subjects are students of Biology Education, University of Borneo Tarakan. The results of data analysis showed that most of the practicums were carried out in the pre-covid-19 pandemic but only a few practicums were carried out during the pandemic with different practicum forms. This indicates the occurrence of learning loss in learning that practices science. Practicum is closely related to student learning outcomes. The relationship tends to be linear where student learning outcomes can increase in line with the quantity and quality of the practicum. Keywords: Learning Outcomes, Learning Loss, Practicum

In Library and Information Science (LIS) courses, practicums serve as a specific bond between theory on the one hand and practical work and the profession on the other. In seeking to prepare graduates for the profession and for professional work, LIS programmes use practicums as a model to enhance the library school curriculum. During the traditional LIS practicum, one already makes use of the many advantages online tools provide, building online portfolios or keeping student work diaries online while undertaking the practical part of one’s practicum. This enables easy and constant communication among all three stakeholders: host institutions, educational institutions, and students. Whilst it is important to engage actively with industry to provide students with opportunities to participate in ‘experiential learning’ and in building practical skills and knowledge, it is also important to ensure this is done in a systematic manner, and with a genuine desire on the part of the employers for a collaborative partnership. Striking similarities regarding practicums and placements between geographically distant countries such as Australia and Slovenia, and the opinions and attitudes that all three stakeholders – students, host institutions and educational institutions – share, indicates that traditional practicums, undertaken in a physical workplace, are still a key component of an LIS education. In Library and Information Science (LIS) courses, practicums serve as a specific bond between theory onthe one hand and practical work and the profession on the other. Abstract:
Background and Objectives: The coronavirus disease pandemic is ongoing. Infection-prevention measures in nursing education (practicum) are essential. However, there are few studies on infection-prevention behaviors among nursing students participating in practicums. We aimed to clarify the effect of practicums during the coronavirus disease crisis on infection-prevention behavior in Japanese nursing students. Materials and Methods: We conducted semi-structured interviews with 13 third-year nursing students in Osaka City within one week of their clinical placement training. From the results of the interview analysis, we compiled a questionnaire and surveyed 90 third-year students. We conducted qualitative and quantitative analyses. We used descriptive statistics for the quantitative analysis and the chi-squared test for binary variables. Results: From the qualitative analysis, we identified five categories regarding the awareness of infection-prevention measures: <Acquisition of knowledge and skills in infection-prevention measures during nursing practice>, <Defining the experience in infection-prevention measures>, <Changes in attitude towards infection>, <Changes in infection prevention behavior>, and <infection-prevention measures-related issues>. In the quantitative analysis, the practicum students who attended at least three pre-practicum orientations continued wearing masks during lunch breaks and avoided the three Cs. Conclusions: Students could recall the knowledge and experiences gained from pre-practicum orientations/practicums. This experience created a new awareness of infection-prevention and change of infection-prevention behavior. Infection-prevention education using practicums is important for infection-prevention behavior during this pandemic. However, there should be a much larger-scale study to support these findings in the future.

Abstract:
Practicum is one of the academic activities that must be carried out by students at Gunadarma University. It's not just one department that does practicums, but all majors do practicums. One of the practicums that students must do is the Informatics Engineering Laboratory which is intended for students of the Faculty of Industrial Technology. In practicums in several majors, including practicum in the Informatics Engineering Laboratory, if the practitioner does not take part in the practicum for any reason, except for getting a special case, they must make a memo as the practitioner's identity to take part in the practicum again. To make a memo, the practitioner must come to the Informatics Engineering Laboratory Staff room to make a memo. The practitioner can make memos if the practitioner follows the specified time to make memos. Not only does the memo maker have to comply with the time the memo is written, but taking memos also must comply with the time the memo is taken. It can take quite a long time to get the memo because you have to come on time to the Informatics Engineering Laboratory Staff room and wait to pick up the memo. Therefore, the author took the initiative to create a mobile application called "Online Memo Application (E-Memo) Android Based Informatics Engineering Laboratory". With this application, the practitioner can make memos anywhere and anytime and also the practitioner can come to the Informatics Engineering Laboratory Staff room to validate the memo which is useful for checking the authenticity of the memo. This application is made with the Dart programming language with the Flutter framework. This application is also made using Android Studio and Firebase as a place to accommodate data on practitioners who have made memos. This application runs on Android Version 5.0 with the code name Nougat and above.

Abstract:
Practicum placements in schools are keystone features of preservice teacher education, yet inconsistencies in their nature and quality are pervasive. This phenomenon was explored in two cultural contexts, with a focus on ‘belonging’, which the literature reveals may impact practicums and commitment to the profession. Interviews were conducted with six primary school preservice teachers in Australia and Scotland, about their lived experience of belonging/non-belonging during practicum. Hermeneutic phenomenological analysis revealed four themes in both cultural contexts: 1. Being welcomed; 2. Settings and procedures; 3. Interpersonal interactions; and, 4. Strategic behaviours. This study indicates belonging as crucial to preservice teachers’ cognition, wellbeing and learning during practicums, with ‘non-belonging’ inhibiting their development. Preservice teacher and mentor preparedness for practicums is highlighted, alongside challenges for initial teacher education programs and schools in addressing the fundamental need to foster a sense of belonging for preservice teachers during this crucial aspect of their teacher preparation.

Abstract:
This study examined the influence of teaching practicum on preservice teachers’ sense of self-efficacy during the covid-19 pandemic. In particular, the study sort to establish if both online and school-based teaching practicums have the same influence on the preservice teachers self-efficacy. A questionnaire was used to collect data from 40 preservice teachers, 2 of them were also interviewed for further insight into the answers provided. It was found that the preservice teachers’ sense of self-efficacy was at best “average” during the pandemic time, with online-based practicum teachers showing a slightly stronger self-efficacy overall. However, school-based practicum teachers showed higher self-efficacy in classroom management and student engagement. The slight differences in efficacy levels were found not to be statistically significant to cause a difference in opinion between online teaching practicum and school-based teaching practicum. Possible reasons for general low levels of self-efficacy were discussed, and causes for slightly higher efficacy for online-based practicum also suggested.

<p>Practicum has an essential role in learning biology, especially during online learning. Various forms of online practicum are sought, one of which is in the vertebrate anatomy course practicum. As a form of evaluation, it is necessary to know student perceptions of the online practicum process. The purpose of the study was to determine the quality of the online practicum process for vertebrate anatomy courses based on the perceptions of students participating in the practicum. This research is qualitative descriptive research. The data collection instrument used a questionnaire containing 12 statement items with a Likert scale using five choices. The study involved 34 students of the 2020 Biology Education Study Program, FKIP UAD, who had completed the online practicum for the vertebrate anatomy course. The results showed that students' perceptions of understanding, aspects of practicum media, and aspects of the online practicum process for vertebrate anatomy courses gave a positive response. However, every aspect had to be improved again. The positive response of students' perceptions shows that the quality of the online practicum for the vertebrate anatomy course has met student expectations. Abstract:
The article is devoted to the analysis of development and testing of experimental practicums for foreign students based on modern techniques. It is of special importance for programs in chemical engineering and material’s science as respective practicums provide students with opportunities to learn more about cutting-edge interdisciplinary methods used for development and investigation of modern materials properties. The purpose of the article is to develop an interdisciplinary experimental practicum on microfluids for a Master’s degree program «Smart Materials» in English. Methods. The analysis was carried out on the basis of Kazan National Research Technological University (KNRTU). The development of the experimental practicum was carried out on the basis of the KNRTU international partners’ experience: the University of Regensburg (Germany) and Carnegie Mellon University (USA) through a comparative analysis of master's programs at KNRTU and international partners, as well as teaching materials of relevant educational programs. It is concluded that microfluidic systems such as «lab-on–a–chip» devices are a promising technology for the implementation of various chemical and chemical-technological processes for the end user or group of users as well as an actual experimental environment for students studying natural sciences. The practicum was tested on Bachelor’s and Master’s students. The practicum was analyzed for its potential to be implemented as a component of short-term academic programs such as summer schools. The practicum aroused greater interest among students compared to traditional laboratory work due to the possibility of self-design and manufacture of microfluidic devices and control of the process of obtaining nanoparticles using a computer.

Abstract:
Many conventional science courses contain subjects embedded with laboratory-based activities. However, research on the benefits of positioning the practicals within the theory subject or developing them distinctly from the theory is largely absent. This report compared results in a physiology theory subject among three different cohorts of students: those taking the theory subject alone, those taking it concurrent with a physiology practicum subject, and those who previously took the subject when it had practicums embedded within the one subject. The path model shows that students taking both physiology theory and physiology practicum attained a significantly higher result in online tests compared with those who took the theory subject alone ( P < 0.05) and that this translated to a significantly higher result in the end-of-semester examination. Similarly, students taking both physiology theory and the physiology practicum attained a significantly higher end-examination result compared with those who took the physiology subject in previous years when the practicums were embedded within the theory subject ( P < 0.05). In both cases, this increase was largely attained in components that tested critical thinking and deep learning (short theory application questions and extended written questions). We conclude that students undertaking both physiology theory and the physiology practicum likely performed better in the theory subject due to better problem-solving skills and a more developed understanding of theoretical content. We suggest that consideration be given in all science curricula to the separation of theory and practicum by developing two subjects with clearly defined different learning outcomes.

The model used to achieve this research’s goal was called the adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) model, which was coupled with principal component analysis (PCA) feature selection. The use of PCA in data grouping performance aims to improve the performance of the ANFIS model when predicting energy needs in accordance with the standards set by the campus while still taking students’ confidence in conducting practicum activities during campus operating hours into consideration. After some experiments and tests, very good results were obtained in the training: R=1 in training; minimum RMSE=0.011900; epoch of 100 per iteration; and R=0.37522. In conclusion, the ANFIS model coupled with PCA feature selection was excellent at predicting energy needs in the laboratory while the comfort of the students during practicums in the room remained within consideration.</span>

Abstract:
The education process for science student teachers in Indonesia must continue, even in a pandemic situation with an unclear end. The research aims to find the most appropriate science practicum method during the Covid-19 pandemic for science student teachers. The method used in this research is mix-methods. The research design chosen by the researcher is the Pre-Experimental One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. Participants in this study were 140 science student teachers who did distance practicum on basic biology practicum courses. Basic biology practicum is a practicum course that practices biological science, including respiration, photosynthesis, nutrient content of food, and pollutant testing. Based on gender, the participants were 62 male students and 78 female students. The value of N-Gain d > 0.58 (moderate effect) means that practicum activities can be continued as a practicum solution during the pandemic. Student activities during a practicum at home apply new adaptations different from a practicum in the laboratory. Independence in preparing materials and tools, preparing worksheets, simplifying materials, and modifying tools is a new way for students. The study concludes that a new practicum method that utilizes the environment potential is a solution in the implementation of science practicums as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia. The environment can be explored to find resources that can be used as practicum materials and the manufacture of basic biology practicum tools.

Abstract:
Community-based learning (CBL), which provides opportunities for undergraduate students to develop disciplinary and work-related knowledge and skills, is increasingly becoming an integral component of higher education. Similar to other countries, there is a widespread belief among employers in Kenya that there is a mismatch between university programs and labour market demands. In order to enhance the employability of graduates, many departments at a Kenyan university have incorporated work-integrated experiential learning opportunities such as practicums in the educational experience for undergraduate students. The aim of this article is to describe the expectations of field supervisors in host organisations participitating in a community-based human services program at a Kenyan University. Fifteen purposively sampled field supervisors participated in individual face-to-face interviews that included questions about their understanding of the department’s expectations of student learning activities during practicums, knowledge of the academic preparation of students in the program and challenges associated with the supervisory role. Six field supervisors exhibited some level of understanding of the expectations of their role in working with practicum students, while nine field supervisors indicated unclear expectations of the students’ practicum experience. Thematic analysis revealed key themes related to: (1) student abilities, learning goals and their contributions to the host organisations, and (2) the academic program of study and academic support available from the university faculty or staff to field supervisors. The results of our study revealed a lack of clarity around practicum expectations for most of the field supervisors interviewed and insufficient preparation of the community-based organisations to host a practicum student. Several recommendations are identified to clarify the expectations of community partner organisations and the staff providing student supervision to ensure benefits for both students and the host organisation. Results from this study can be used to inform the development or improvement of practicum opportunities focused on producing a skilled workforce.

Abstract:
Teaching practicum performs a crucial role in initial English language teacher preparation programs in that it offers pre-service English-as-a-foreign-language teachers a great chance to put the pedagogical content knowledge they have acquired through the coursework into practice by teaching real students. Due to the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic, pre-service English-as-a-foreign-language teachers in the context of the present study, had to do more than half of their teaching practicums via distance education. This qualitative case study explores 25 pre-service English-as-a-foreign-language teachers’ conceptions of the influence of distance teaching practicum on their preparedness for the first year of teaching. The data collected by emailed questionnaires were analysed adopting inductive content analysis. The results indicated they did not believe distance teaching practicum was effective in enhancing their professional learning and preparing them for the first year of teaching. In addition, they did not think teaching practicum conducted face-to-face could be replaced by distance teaching practicum.

Abstract:
The novel exigencies of the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic caused a shift towards online learning environments and teleconference platforms, which have also affected teaching practicums. The impact of this approach on teacher preparation is yet unknown and may render pre-service teachers (PSTs) more vulnerable to the challenges of early professional learning through practice, especially when implementing a methodology they have been insufficiently introduced to. Following three students of primary teacher education who opted for a practicum in a CLIL class at a Finnish teacher training school, this case study examines how the online practicum affected these PSTs’ emotions and understanding of CLIL. The case study is based on the analytical categories of teacher identity and emotion and draws on essay, diary, and interview data. The thematic analysis of the data suggests that the online practicum met participants’ expectations for building confidence and was perceived as an overall instructive experience, which was improved by the quality of mentorship and peer support they received. However, feelings of frustration or dissatisfaction accompanied moments of conflict with incoming expectations, principally related to using English in CLIL. The analysis further suggests that the online practicum strengthened participants’ earlier conception of CLIL as a language-oriented teaching tool. Regardless of whether online CLIL practicums remain a future option, acquiring disciplinary and language knowledge alike are important aspects in teacher preparation for CLIL, which could be an optional part of teacher education programs for PSTs who are aware of or sensitive to language as a tool for learning.

Abstract:
As the pandemic has brought in a paradigm shift in the way we educate and interact with our students, it has also had profound impacts on the practicum of pre-service teacher education. Focusing on the case of 14 South Korean student teachers who completed their teaching practicum in Spring 2020, this paper explores how the new form of teaching practicum, triggered by the current outbreak, affected student teachers’ professional development and their views on teaching practice and profession. In particular, it examines the ways by which teaching practicums conducted under unpredictable circumstances negatively or positively affect student teachers’ professional identities as teaching practitioners and their motivation to become a teacher. The findings of this study show that the teaching practicum conducted in times of crisis enabled pre-service English language teachers to develop a positive image toward teachers and teaching profession, and realize their potential as innovative and inspiring teachers in the post COVID-19 era.

Abstract:
As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, teaching practicum has been conducted in online learning settings in Turkey, which, in return, has made pre-service English language teachers do their practicums online. The lack of research into the effect of distance teaching practicum on pre-service English language teachers’ practices of giving feedback prompted the researcher to carry out this research. This instrumental case study aims to investigate the changes in a pre-service English language teacher’s feedback giving practices in the English lessons she taught in the distance teaching practicum and her views about how the distance teaching practicum affected her skills of providing feedback. The results obtained from the analysis of the data collected from the researcher’s notes on the pre-service English language teacher’s provision of feedback in the four online lessons she taught, post-lesson telephone interviews and end-of-study semi-structured interview indicated her teaching experiences helped her make a considerable progress in her skills in giving effective feedback. The findings pointed to the significance of distance teaching practicum in developing pre-service English language teachers’ feedback giving practices.

Abstract:
The changes taking place in the schooling landscape because of the coronavirus are real and meaningful and have implications for the training of preservice teachers, especially the teaching practicum component of their initial teacher education programs. The havoc caused by COVID-19 forced many faculties of education into a state of ‘panic-gogy’ to ensure that student teachers could complete their teaching practicums. In this paper we argue that consideration should be given to core teaching practices and practice-based teacher education pedagogies (i.e., representations and approximations) that can be used in alternative “placement contexts” that will supplement and harness the authenticity of school-based experiences. We provide two conceptual tools, collaboratively developed by teaching practicum educators and mentor teachers, that can be used as heuristic by other university-school partnerships when considering teaching practicum redesign efforts.

Abstract:
This research was conducted to find out how students’ perspectives on Microsoft Teams were used as an alternative in the implementation of science practicum. The type of research used is a qualitative approach with 35 students taking natural science practicum courses. The instrument used is a survey questionnaire which is presented through a google form and distributed to students. This study uses descriptive data analysis techniques. The results of this study found that 94.3% of students understood the use of Microsoft teams, 94.3% of students said that the learning objectives of science practicum were achieved by using Microsoft teams, 82.9% of students said that the use of Microsoft teams was effective in the implementation of science practicums, while 17, 1% of students think that Microsoft Teams is less effective in implementing science practicum. Constraints faced by students in the implementation of science practicum using Microsoft Teams are caused by several factors, namely there are several students living in the 3T area (lagging, leading, widest) which has an unstable internet network and electricity network as well as natural conditions (rainstorms, winds). fast and others) that affect the strength of the electricity network and the internet network. The opinion of students on the implementation of science practicum for the future is that students have hope that in the future the implementation of science practicum can be done face-to-face or offline. However, there were some students who gave their views that the implementation of the science practicum using Microsoft teams had a positive impact and innovation in the implementation of the science practicum during this pandemic. This is because students have new knowledge about how to use Microsoft Teams that they never knew about this application.

Abstract:
The 2020 COVID lockdown provoked the early childhood team at Manukau Institute of Technology to radically rethink how practicum was assessed. The usual approach of an “in-centre” observation followed by a triadic discussion was replaced by weekly “virtual” meetings and an online triadic. A reflective framework was developed to guide students to think about and articulate their understanding of the assessment of practice criteria. At the conclusion of the virtual practicums, a small qualitative research study was conducted with the aim of examining the impact of these changes. Thematic analysis of the online questionnaire sent to students, associate teachers, and visiting lecturers revealed many students had experienced deep learning, had developed personal confidence, and had taken greater ownership of their learning. These findings informed practicum assessment in the newly developed Bachelor of Education (early childhood teaching) programme.

Abstract:
<em>Constructing teacher identity is important for pre-service teachers, especially when taking part in teacher training practicums in school. Nonetheless, they faced many adversities, such as passive students, negative emotions, and anxiety. Therefore, pre-service teachers need to be aware of their capacity for resilience. This study aimed to discover the resilience factors pre-service teachers had in coping with the problems found in teacher training practicums in schools in constructing their teacher identity. A mixed-method study from questionnaires and semi-structured interviews was employed to gather quantitative and qualitative data. The participants reported that they faced hard times but displayed high resilient ability. It was influenced by their perseverance, ability to reflect, adaptive help-seeking, responses to the negative affect, and emotional regulation. The resilient ability supports the teacher identity construction after conducting a teaching practicum in school. Further research needs to consider the number of participants, gender, age, and the school levels where the teaching practicums are conducted to gain more perspectives on pre-service teachers’ resilience.</em>

Abstract:
Education is a concius effort to develop the potential of human resources (HR) through teaching activities. To be able to create conducive teaching and learning activities and be able to develop effective learning outcomes is the duty and obligation of the teacher as an education teacher. Therefore, teachers directly seek to influence, foster and develop students abilites to become intelligent and skilled human beings. In essence, practicum is a proof of theory, buht because students only refer to teory without any strengthening of uhnderstanding trough practicum, the understanding gained through practicum is usually more memorable and lasts longer, because students are direcly involved in practicum activities and can prove the theory given by the teacher themselves. Thus the Pyhsic Education laboratory Assistant Team intends to carry out an activity with the title Student Laboratory Work Application (AKLAM) at the Integrated Islamic Junior High School (SMPIT) Al- Fityan School Gowa – Kab Gowa, which is designed as a creative response to increasing wise values towards educational professionalism in learning situations. This activity was carried out for four days of implementation by helping the Head of the Laboratory and the Science Laboratory Manager to improve and complete administration related to the laboratory. And be able to increase students knowledge about global warning symptoms, physics practicum in primary schools, coordination of data collection for school practicums, and completion of school laboratory administration as well as improving the quality of practicum learning for the Phyhsics education laboratory assistant team at UIN Alauddin Makassar at the S-1 level to comply with national education standards, in order to improve the quality of education for students of Physics Education Faculty, Tarbiyah and Teacher Training at UIN Alauddin Makassar in the future.

Abstract:
As interprofessional education (IPE) continues to grow as part of social work programs, it is important to evaluate how best to engage students in understanding this material and explore possible barriers. With this in mind, researchers conducted qualitative interviews and focus groups to explore perceptions of three cohorts of social work students (n=29) participating in short-term interprofessional practicum experiences. Perceived benefits included improvements in communication and client care. The study also uncovered various barriers with implementing IPE-focused practicums such as time, scheduling and role uncertainty. Students shared the impact their experience had on knowledge and perceptions of the social work role in interprofessional collaboration. Even so, students were able to observe important elements of interprofessional practice from these relatively short practicums, indicating they may be a viable option for programs looking to expose students to real world interprofessional experience.

Abstract:
Various studies have demonstrated that the role of mentor teachers in helping pre-service English teachers (PSETs) develop their professional experiences in school-based practicum is undeniably fundamental. Considering that mentor voices are still underrepresented in studies, this study aims to investigate the mentor teachers’ voices and beliefs to help the professional learning of pre-service English teachers (PSETs) in their school-based practicums. This is a qualitative study which involves seven mentor teachers who teach English in senior high schools in Indonesia. Data was gathered through questionnaires and unstructured interviews carried out in the participants’ school setting and analysed using NVIVO 9 (qualitative data analysis software). The findings reveal the mentor teachers’ beliefs in guiding PSETS during the school-based practicum. The mentor teachers viewed that PSETs need to learn and experience more fundamental aspects of teaching, namely interpersonal skills and emotional engagement in teaching, including their leadership. Implications for teacher education to improve the quality of relationship between PSETs and mentor teachers are addressed.

Abstract:
On March 13, 2020, Mount Royal University responded to the pandemic declaration of the World Health Organization (WHO) and local health directives by stopping all face-to-face learning, including practicums. This sudden cessation was done for reasons of safety and liability. Rapid shifts were required, presenting functional, ethical, and privacy challenges for students and faculty who recognized that practicums are vital for social work students preparing to enter practice. Using a theoretical framework of compounding complexity, the paper considers eight key learnings from the authors’ experiences managing a social work practicum program, contemplating implications for current and future crisis-oriented fieldwork. This paper goes further to challenge a re-evaluation of social work as a result of the pandemic, social movements including the Black Lives Matter movement, as well as the changing socio-economic factors that influence service users’ lives. These conversations have emerged within the pandemic context and afford a moment to reflect on the place and role of social work.
