As praias Grande (Barcarena) e Beja (Abaetetuba) ocorrem na foz do rio Tocantins, sendo influenciadas pela forçantes fluviais (vazão de 382,11 m3 s-1), mesomaré semidiurna (altura e corrente máxima, respectivamente de 3,4m e 1,93 m.s-1) e meteorológicas (chuvas > 2.500 mm.ano-1, ventos média > 5,1 km.h-1). My experience revealed what I have come to consider unwarranted theoretical assumptions in the anthropological literature that flow naturally from notions about reason deeply ingrained in our cultural orientations and the vernacular forms that express it.
