Natural assemblages show large variability at multiple scales in space and time as a consequence of several abiotic and biotic factors. This study was conducted in the surf zone of Arraial do Cabo (22º 58'S, 42º 01'W) and tested the hypothesis that the ichthyofauna composition and structure differ according to the tidal variation at three beaches with different morphodynamic characteristics. Fish living in coastal waters present behavior patterns ruled by environmental light levels. Diel variations in fish community structure were investigated at Arraial do Cabo surf zone (22º58'S, 42º01'W). Three exposed sandy beaches were selected to compare fluctuations in density of the most abundant species, and to verify the influence of spatial and temporal variations on the community structure. Sampling was carried out every three months, from June 1993 to May 1995, on Fora, Prainha, and Boqueirão Beaches. The first two beaches were classified by Dean's morphodynamic index (Ω) as intermediate, and the last as reflective. We report the first record of Pontoporia blainvillei (Gervais & d’Orbigny, 1844), Franciscana or La Plata River Dolphin, along the coast of Arraial do Cabo, southeastern Brazil. On 8 October 2017, a newborn was stranded in the surf zone of Prainha Beach and was returned to the sea. Although an occasional record, fills a distribution gap of the species’ occurrence on the coast of Rio de Janeiro state and, consequently, helps clarify the distribution pattern of P. blainvillei along the coast of the Brazil.

Beach sand may act as a reservoir for numerous microorganisms, including enteric pathogens. Several of these pathogens originate in human or animal feces, which may pose a public health risk. Nosso trabalho compara um conjunto de redes de segmentação semântica aplicados na detecção de pessoas em imagens de praia, como parte de um sistema de rastreamento automático para evitar que banhistas ultrapassem a região segura do mar. Em nossa análise, comparamos as redes de segmentação U-net, X-net, Linknet, e Unet++ usando os backbones prétreinados VGG-16 e VGG-19.
