The criticism of the eighth ode of Horace's fourth book has been bedevilled by three major uncertainties: probable interpolation in its text, confusion about the identity of its addressee, and doubt as to its literary quality.1 These issues will form the central concerns of this discussion. Earlier critics have been consistently scathing in their view of Odes. 4. 8: some editors have even gone so far as to deny Horatian authorship,2 many have made dismissive judgements, following the verdict of Wilamowitz (‘really very bad’), and a recent commentator has classed 4. 8 as ‘the least lyrical of t

While Accra's zongo communities are considerably diluted in their Islamic orthodoxy, they are nonetheless distinctly Islamic in tone, witness the mosques, Qurʼānic schools, flowing robes and diaphanous prayer veils, and a general cultural orientation that is strongly influenced by the Hausa and distinct from Christian southern Ghana. Largely because the processes of transmission have been unkind, the religious hymns sung by the Greeks during worship of a god on a public or private occasion have received less than their due attention from modern scholars. We summarise the efforts of one Māori tribal group (Ngāti Maniapoto) to challenge the knowledge and authority claims of the settler-colonial-state and draw attention to the pluralistic dimensions of Indigenous environmental (in)justice. Furthermore, we highlight that since settler colonialism is not a historic moment but still a ongoing reality for Indigneous peoples living settler societies it is critically important to critically evaluate theorising about and environmental justice movements through a decolonising praxis.

AbstractIncluding the voice of the father in research related to fathering is essential. This chapter describes efforts to establish a new public health surveillance for fathers in the United States. The ultimate goal of this research is to study fatherhood to support healthy child development by collecting valuable information on father health and experiences in the perinatal period. Understanding fathers is key to learning about and improving family health, since fathers impact mothers and babies’ health. Studying the health of fathers during the transition to fatherhood can also provide a window into the overall health status of men, expanding the field of public health to include more specifics on the health of fathers and their impact on families. Currently surveillance systems are lacking in including the fathers’ perspective in measurement of paternal health and the transition to fatherhood. To address these issues we utilized a multi-pronged approach to inform development of a public health surveillance system for fathers: (1) review of the current literature to identify gaps in knowledge on the role of fatherhood in male and family health and identify current national-level surveillance data on fathers; (2) assessed feasibility of identifying participants to implement a surveillance system for fathers; (3) conducted formative research to develop methodology; and (4) piloted a public health surveillance system called the Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System for Dads or “PRAMS for Dads.”

Abstract:
Dies gilt

Wright, Kirsten. Collecting Plant Phenology Data In Imperiled Oregon White Oak Ecosystems: Analysis and Recommendations for Metro. Portland State University, 2020. http://dx.doi.org/10.15760/mem.64.

Abstract:
Highly imperiled Oregon white oak ecosystems are a regional conservation priority of numerous organizations, including Oregon Metro, a regional government serving over one million people in the Portland area. Previously dominant systems in the Pacific Northwest, upland prairie and oak woodlands are now experiencing significant threat, with only 2% remaining in the Willamette Valley in small fragments (Hulse et al. 2002). These fragments are of high conservation value because of the rich biodiversity they support, including rare and endemic species, such as Delphinium leucophaeum (Oregon Depart

A survey of the levels of Campylobacter spp. contamination and prevalence of selected antimicrobial resistance determinants in fresh whole UK-produced chilled chickens at retail sale (non-major retailers). Abstract:
Campylobacter spp. are the most common bacterial cause of foodborne illness in the UK, with chicken considered to be the most important vehicle for this organism. The UK Food Standards Agency (FSA) agreed with industry to reduce Campylobacter spp. contamination in raw chicken and issued a target to reduce the prevalence of the most contaminated chickens (those with more than 1000 cfu per g chicken neck skin) to below 10 % at the end of the slaughter process, initially by 2016. To help monitor progress, a series of UK-wide surveys were undertaken to determine the levels of Campylobacter spp. on
