The first chapter describes the candomble, social practice of religious nature and this structure and dynamics. The second one infers to the modern aspects of the black culture. Then the following chapter gives the psychological, psychiatric and psychoanalytical interpretations of candomble that were already done in brazil. Full textThe writing of a will, far from being limited to the distribution of material assests on the side of the testator, provided him with a last opportunity to express his sentiments and to accomplish his duty towards parents, relations and friends. The expression of these judgements and the material goals pursued in the last will's clauses were however strongly conditioned by the testator's concern about conforming himself to the accepted moral and social standards, in order to benefit of a positif judgement on the part of the public opinion

Full textThe fortified medieval areas of the Velay (medieval diocese of Puy-en-Velay) are analysed in their constitution and their use. The survey concerns a corpus of castle sites, fortified towns, fortified houses, priories and fortified churches in 145 communes, mostly in the department of Haute-Loire (France-Auvergne). The changes that these fortified spaces operate during the 13th-15th centuries are highlighted: spatial morphology and choices of occupancy of these areas, evolution of individual seigneurial habitats and enclosures in rural and urban context. The nature of the relations between the different social groups building this fortified territory is mainly documented by texts : relationships between the lords and the bishop of Le Puy or the king, relationships between the lords and the urban or rural communities, emergence of new social groups (the small gentry). The purpose focuses on the articulation of these areas and the social and symbolic relationships that each of the social groups has with fortifications. Thus, the intentions of domination and the resistance of each of the medieval social groups are revealed by analysing the plots, the buildings and the form of the fortification
Schlegel, Vianney. "Question sociale, question médicale : la professionnalisation de la prise en charge des personnes sans-domicile en France." Thesis, Lille, 2019. http://www.theses.fr/2019LIL1A014.
Full textWhile the number of homeless people keeps rising, homelessness has been tackled as a specific issue since the 1980’s. In order to study the political response that has been drawn to solve it, this dissertation analyses the professionalization of health and social care to the homeless in France. It relies on an ethnographical inquiry within various medical and social institutions, which is completed with statistical and archival materials as well as interviews (n=77). The dissertation first details the making of a multidisciplinary field addressing the issue of homelessness. It highlights the specific role of health professionals in the making and development of such a field. The study then focuses on the day-to-day medical and social work that takes place within dedicated institutions. Through a specific division of labor, medical and social workers are involved in relations of both cooperation and competition in order to solve the problems that they face. Eventually, the study addresses the issue of regulation and harmonization of professional practices and representations. Such processes depend on the making and diffusion of a common professional culture which both facilitates the exchanges between professionals and reminds them of the limits of their own expertise. Drawing on the sociology of professional groups and the sociology of social policies, this dissertation highlights the various mechanisms and processes that participate in the professionalization of health and social care to the homeless. Homelessness forms a shared jurisdiction within which social and medical workers cooperate, coordinate and compete through various ways and temporalities

Full textThe thesis relates to the intervention of artists in the workshops of social integration. A theoretical anchoring interactionnist makes it possible to show in what the traditional model of insertion is destabilized by the presence of artists. The material collected is of a qualitative nature. The questioned actors gather tribunitiens (carrying change), the ambivalents (oscillating between tradition and innovation) and of the conservatives (being opposed to the change). The first part shows in what the tribunitiens disturb the values and the standards of traditional insertion. The second part shows in what they disturb the practices and the modes of control. The third part is centered on the type of innovation proposed by the carriers of the change. While the ambivalent ones propose the development of a cultural insertion perceived like a new hopper, the tribunitiens propose the emergence of a citizen insertion. But if this last proposal opens alternatives to the statics of the system, it is also carrying a utopian form which, if it passed in a state of social practice legitimate, could reinforce the process of marginalisation of the recipients of the social assistance

Full textThe aim of this thesis is to describe and analyse and analyse the pratice of personal wirting in a diary among no writers persons of French contemporary population (1994). To guide the analysis we have one question and three sub-questions : (1) by what functions and mediations the practice of personal writing in a diary, the diary himself, among no writers persons, have link with the social (society) and what is the nature of this link? (2) what's the mode of the practice of the personal writing in a diary ? (3) which kind of socialisation the practice of personal writing in a diary produce ? (4) which dialectic exist between the diarist, his diary and his objective and subjective social reality? Exept the description of a not well-known pratice, the analesis contens some reflesions about the construction of socials representations, the place of the person and his practice in the social dynamic, the question of the writing memory and patrimony, of the time and the intimity

Full textThe aim of this thesis is to work, at one and the same time, on specialized educators' concrete practices and on the purpose of this practice according to social, institutional, political context. We describe and analyse professional activities admittedly complex and ambivalent, not to say ambiguous, but which can be understood in a more general process of bureaucratic control and regulation of social connections established by the modem social State. Thereby we have to primarily re-build the «practical sense» of specialized educator by means of ethnographic observation method. Then we have to understand social trajectories that predispose to this activity and finally rethink those observations in the historical frame of their appearance and evolution

The textual analysis of six fictions a rebours and en rade de joris karl huysmans, mr venus of rachilde, le dr pascal, l'oeuvre and la bete humaine de zola allowed us to defend the following thesis : the topic of madness is constitutive of a kind of rupture and reconstitution of social order. Full textThe interactionnist and inductive perspective of the grounded theory adopted as the compebensive observation in various institutionnal segments of the system for social action enables us to bring out multiplicity of contractual figures as they have been outlined by social workers in their relationship with the clientele. The off the record (or invisible) contract pertaining to the settlements fixed by the professionnals with their clients and the ex situ (underground) contract negociated behind the scene rub shoulders with the institutionnal contract. The professionnal primacy which is granted to off the record or underground rules or even the activation of an artefactual system partake of the organization of a contactual matrise based on an assessment of merit, demerit, fragility and/or institutionnal loyalty. Better still, the ethico-social etiology of social workers towards recipients builds up a distinctive social order. Waking together the social workers' ethical economy and their cognitive economy underlies they will link their sensitive and their normative commitments. The equivocal association of social workers' sensitive statuory self with their normative statuory self partakes of the production of numerous professional subjective and ethical dilemmas. Hence, the practical axiology of the members in the various worlds of the social work (incorpored professionnals, confirmed professionnals and mavericks) can achieve three figures of client social inclusion : the primary inclusion and the secondary positive or negative inclusions which depend on the. Degree and the nature of the client's subjectivation and the professionnals' itdentity judgement. Thus, the latent strengh of the weak bonds tied by the professionnals with their clientèle as well as the autority of underlying rules supports the foundation of a welfare state regulated by an invisible law
Acone, Ludmila. "Théorie et pratique sociale de la danse noble en Italie centro-septentrionale au XVeme siècle." Thesis, Paris 1, 2013. http://www.theses.fr/2013PA010596.
Full textDance, a fully historical subject, is a 'total social fact' at the interface between body and soul, between individual and collective, feminine and masculine, religions and profane, and between technique and spontaneity. In the fifteenth century, Domenico da Piacenza, Antonio Cornazzano and Guglielmo Ebreo da Pesaro represent the rise a new intellectual, artistic and technical figure, that of the master of dance, thus promoting dance as a liberal art. The construct the aesthetics of a noble dance in opposition to those of the so-called popular dances, by creating artistic as we as social and gender norms in conformity with courtly ethics, and by offering a response to religious anathemas. Dance vector of a courtly ideology and a communication between courts and society, remains the instrument of evolving corporeal disciplines, and even a therapy founded on conceptual harmony between body and soul. The philosophical technical and pedagogical foundations of noble dance are inscribed in the culture of Italian courts from the end of the Middle Ages and create a new language of the moving body, innovating it and making it part of the humanistic culture those times. An attentive reading of the sources -literary, iconographical, theatrical and musical- makes visible what seems invisible even hidden, and enables us to understand and interpret, as well as summon up the richness of the chorographical activity of a certain period. This is not a history of dance but a history of dance in history, or rather the illumination of an aspect of late-medieval civilization, thanks, also, to what the body and movement are capable of revealing to us
Camus, Christophe. "L'Architecture d'entreprise décrite et racontée : de la thématique technique à la négociation sociale d'une pratique." Paris, EHESS, 1994. http://www.theses.fr/1994EHES0095.
Full textThis research investigates the relationqship between speech and reality, analysing the place and the function given to reality (and its objects) within speeches. Debates on architecture as well as the rhetoric of some architectural projects have incited us to study the architectural speech and its thematical technique. This comes down to the way architects summon up the technique but also economical and social issues in their argumentation and in their negociation to achieve architectural projects. Therefore, we investigated the written corporate architecture by studying a set of articles reporting architectural realizations, in order to compare the descriptive and narrative logics. Within these texts, we identified the tensenesses between the logic of the objet and the logic of its causes, the narration of space and the narration of events, the thematic of creation and the thematic of usage. As it questions the ways to describes and tell, non only buildings but the enterprise as well, its products, its machines and its men, this research fits into a pragmatic approach to architectural design

Fournier-Schill, Marie. "Analyse d'une pratique sociale en construction : le cas du tri des déchets dans la famille." Thesis, Lille 2, 2014. http://www.theses.fr/2014LIL20004/document.
Full textToday, consumption is enlarged to all stages and includes recycling. Explanations on performance given so far still remain unsatisfying. Two specificities characterize recycling : it is supported by the family (and not the individual) and its rules are imposed by public policies. This research is anchored in social practice theory that allows the study of a consumption routine at the crossroads between micro- and macro-social levels. The aim of this research is to highlight the building up of recycling’s social practice in families. The methodology is qualitative, based on participant observations, semi-structured interviews and mimes. Results highlight : (1) practice structure organized around doings, objects and engagement ; (2) links unifying those elements through appropriation, realisation and reinforcement and (3) practice dynamic, that allows families involvement into it. The main contribution of this work relies on the understanding of the building process at a familial level of the recycling practice at a societal level

Full textThe research project presented in this document enriches our understanding of these questions by unbundling the micro-level activities and socio-material dynamics underpinning the use of control tools in CSR implementation. Its key originality comes from a long-term ethnographic study in a French gambling company, which provided an in-depth empirical knowledge about what happened in this organization as a CSR policy was executed. Through spending one year with the CSR team, interviews with managers organization-wide, participant observations and access to documents, I was able to grasp a detailed insight into the multiple facets of organizing dynamics surrounding CSR, such as the everyday activities of CSR managers, the development and use of CSR control tools by various actors, CSR's impacts on managers' practices and at the organizational level, and collective dynamics spawned by this new organizational practice. This dissertation also brings novelty to the management control for sustainability research area by adopting a practice-based perspective. Although its potential for understanding control processes has been put forth in previous research (Ahrens and Chapman, 2007; Nama and Lowe, 2014), this lens remains relatively unexplored in the study of management control for CSR1 (Bebbington and Fraser, 2014). Yet, this approach can shed new light on this question because it foregrounds the performative role of artefacts. Its inquiry can highlight how tools are enacted to construct and maintain practices, and how this affects organizing processes. Therefore, it appears fruitful for the study of CSR implementation dynamics because it accounts for the relationality, complexity and ambiguity of organizational phenomena (Feldman and Orlikowski, 2011). The purpose of this introduction is to present and problematize the various literatures articulated in the project (namely, CSR, management control and practice-based perspectives). It clarifies the research question and the angles through which this research has tackled it. It exposes the structure of this document and introduces its constitutive chapters

Full textThe subject of social practice (be it at an individual or collective scale) continues a remarkable field of research. Although we are interested in the way they were elaborated and set in the daily work of the practitioners, our goal is to understand how and why such practices can go on for more or less long times in the life of people and establishments; in the contrary how and why other practices are more prone to evolve. We chose a more than hundred year old medical centre as a ground for our study (former sanatorium). We considered professional action as well as organisation system. We soon realized that we had to go far back to grasp the mechanics involved in the process of continuity/change of the practices carried out by different employees in the centre. Since its origins, it has transformed its facilities, equipment and staff so that it could provide healthcare corresponding to the shifting needs of the population. This implies that the staff had to think about new working strategies. We noticed that the different members of the centre have not forgotten about the past which generated a rich heritage (property, tools and customs). The employees claimed that the legacy of their predecessors and experience helped them to establish new professional practices. Theses changes are substantial compared to the legacy inherited from the sanatorial period (external appearance of the building) which is still present today. Through the study of this case, we asked ourselves about the weight of past habits and the difficulties that the practitioners have to leave old items, even when the latter have proved to be of no use

Full textThis work on social philosophy aims at understanding the specificity of capitalism as a historical form of social organization and transformation of the world. It presents a descriptive and normative reflection on the capitalist social practice in order to better understand the complexity, diversity and plasticity of capitalist dynamics. Our starting point is Marx’s understanding of the logic of capital as a real abstraction. This enables us to grasp the capitalist practice by way of an abstract normativity, a “duty” which sets the idealisation of an infinite surplus value as a “suprasensible” end. Marx provides valuable theoretical resources not only to understand capitalist abstraction, but also to determine the form in which it operates and restructures concrete reality through the action of capitalists. It does so by making explicit the tensions related to such restructuring. Moreover, we contrast the Marxist conceptualization with more contemporary currents of interpretation of capitalist dynamics such as the macroeconomic and the institutionalist analyses of Regulation Theory and psycho-sociological studies on the neomanagement organization of labor and consumption. In this way, we show that the theory of capitalist practice must not only reflect the diversity and plasticity of the trajectory of capitalism but also reveal how it manages to reproduce itself (at least so far) even among so many crises and obstacles. That is why we propose an outline of a model of capitalist practice inspired by certain aspects of Kantian practical philosophy (especially the concept of imagination). With this model we intend to create a concept of capitalist imagination, which helps to understand the constant openness to new embodiments of capitalist idealizations. This conception of capitalist practice finally leads us to rethink the immanent critique of capitalism on a more creative and imaginative basis

Full textThis work is the result of empirical research conducted on a French network for an alternativeeconomy named REAS and its defenders. The aim is to study the origins of its program usingthe history and backgrounds of its campaigners as a starting point. From 1990 to 1998, theREAS has tried to bring together various initiatives of solidarity-based economic systems inorder to push its political program to the forefront of the public debate. We have wondered whether this program and the militancy which characterizes it were butthe translation of a propensity for activism truly Christian in origin or whether it ratherstemmed from the coming together of various traditions of militancy.A reconstruction of the individual backgrounds of activists from the REAS was possiblethanks to field research, based on a close study of the archives and the periodical which thenetwork published but most importantly on about sixty interviews held with members of theREAS. The research has proven that each age group (under 35, aged 35 to 45 and over 45years old) was characterized by its own specific dynamics and form of militancy. The older members bring with them a leftwing Christian dimension which the intermediateage group politicizes while the younger members contribute to daily awareness and localintegration. The political program of REAS and its members’ militancy can therefore bedefined as an elective affinity bringing together three originally distinct groups. Therefore, ifthe influence and dynamics of each group may be felt, the program for REAS can only bedefined through their combination. Nevertheless, elective affinity theoretically only happensbetween two elements. The possibility of elective affinity happening between three elementsseems unprecedented and would deserve closer inspection

Full textThis work closely follows the historical evolution of the principal architectural styles in the contemporary epoch and the technical discoveries concerned. But it treats in particular the manifestations of the architectural polychromatics (wich constitutes the focus of the research), and it refers, first; to the classical antiquity in its contemporary interpretations, thereafter studying the eclecticism, the employment of materials like brick and its derivatives, and modern'style, movements that have confered chomatical diversities upon the urban space, up to the birth of the colourless functionalism (with finds its active contestors, the folleowers of the coloration of the facades). Passing in review are the movements of modern art, where the principal preoccupation has been the integration of colour in architecture. This development has led to a new artistic (and social) practice of architectural polychromatics, exercised by plastic artists who have elaborated new operational methods for colouring the built environment

Full textThe place games hold within social life and the consequences of their practice upon the processes of socialization are analysed through the prism of the group of chess players. From a socio-anthropological perspective, studying of the characteristics of the game of chess allows both to understand the causes of its specificity and to explain the reasons for its suggestive power. A study of the French chess players' circle throws into light the existence of an autonomous anthropological space possessing its own hierarchy, language, ritual practices and cultural references. The analysis focuses on several aspects : amateur players, chess clubs, social relationships created during tournaments and professional chess players whose employement, private life and leisure behaviour show how the play-practice rebounds on all aspects of their existence. The study of the place chess players hold within society also calls for a study of the representation of the chess game in literature, films and mass-medias. This symbolical perspective is further enriched by a research on the social status on players, linked up together with the concept of deviance

Full textAt the crossroad between sociology of knowledge, sociology of education and political sociology, this thesis examines certain social practices of collective work by public speaking of members, described as democratic. In this study, Freemasonry constitutes a revealing field of research. Historically characterised by a very elitist recruitment mode, Freemasonry has gone through a process of democratisation during the last century. As a result, Freemasonry shows much more social heterogeneity then before.. Considering Freemasonry as tacit pedagogic device, this research examines the sociological processes at work in the social appropriation of a practice based on abstraction and transferability of symbolic relations. The data analysis (interviews, written productions of masons, official texts) allows highlighting some specificities of this apprenticeship: election, déprofanation and improvement, which are built through the cumulativity of collective work and the possibility of revision. As a matter of fact, the interest of this study goes far beyond the Masonic lodges themselves. Using the concept of a tacit pedagogy, what is at stake is apprenticeship as production and reproduction of knowledge, including the fundamental issues of the right to improve within pedagogic structures and the elaboration of a collective normativity

Full textThis research focuses on the social and linguistic integration of primary school children as they interact with each other and their teacher in class. The analyses are based on collected linguistic gatherings taken during an inquiry of one year in three primary schools in Paris: observations of interactions between the children starting from the point when a class work was proposed by their teacher: an individual presentation about a foreign country chosen by the child. The objective of the exercise was to understand how the children express themselves in French on the subject of the country chosen by them according to the teacher demand. Would they be seeking self-assurance? Would they be breaking the rules of the classroom? Are they taken by emulation? The connection with the country presented is then verbalized inside a giving context, that of the school, which imposes specific forms of behaviour and expression

Full textThis study deals with travels to England from' 1660 to 1789. This work is not about the things seen by travelers in England; it is a history of what they want readers to see through their travels. The emphasis is on the uses and discourses of this travel phenomenon. Throughout the century, travels to England are a workshop for ideas and an opportunity to defend or refute the major Ideas, of the time. When France rediscovers England after 1660, it is by no means any special destination to the numerous Visitors, except for the newness of the Royal Society. Ideological momentum gathers after the double crisis of 1685-1688 as part of the Huguenot community becomes a panegyrist to the country. We also insist on the role played by the SWISS, who create on their own an England as anti-France. In France, the period of the Regency brings about a major opening towards England. Voltaire, Prevost and Montesquieu achieve the transformation of England as a destination. Many French people go to England to find there an idealized "elsewhere"; they combine philosophical pilgrimage and pleasurable journey. After 1763, the phenomenon gains such proportions that tourism becomes a relevant concept sources mention "hoards" of French VI sitars. Anglophobia and anglomania confront in travel accounts, as in other fields of society. The conflicts of the American war of independence bring forth the decline of the English reference in France. England as a destination, previously an Ideal country, now offers a major, but not unique, point of comparison to the French. By generating massive Anglophobia after 1792, the French Revolution represents the final point to this phenomenon

Full textThe practice of excluding and segregating people who suffer from disabilities is now being condemned more widely. Developped countries pride themselves on trying to incorporate disabled people into society. We propose to study what is said about "integration" in political and ideological discourses. We chech what is actually being done with the help of an activity which is acknowledged as helping disabled people to become integrated. We intend to study the relation between discourse and reality. The research consist of the following three stages: 1. To investigate the concepts of handicapology and the new ways of dealing with handicaped people. To specify the options of sporting and physical activity adapted to disabled people. 2. To establish variables for a survey showing how heath and social workers view the process of integration. 3. To create a workable system to monitor the interaction between the specialized and the non specialized sectors. The indicators obtained will illustrate a personn's social integration. Sporting and physical activity is used to assess a personn's progress

Full textThis work is based on the concepts of « singularity », « universal », « collective » as much as it is a subversion of them. Introducing the dimension of the subject of the unconscious, we question the very foundation of clinical approach: "what do we mean by talking"? "What do we mean by « clinical approach » ? After having set up a certain number of invariants in the nature of language: the network of signifiers, the place of the Other, the Name of the Father and object "a", so many items that are revealed in their pure form in the clinic of psychosis, we try to show how a singularity can emerge in a writing workshop and in psychoanalytic treatment. We isolate a number of structural entities in our practice, just as we emphasize the clinical validity of hallucinations

Full textUsing the Seine department as the analysis framework, this thesis intends to put in perspective the development of football, from its first appearance at the end of the 19th century up until 1940. The strong links it enjoyed with Great Britain, the quality of its teams’ game and the dynamism of its leaders all explained the sporting and institutional hegemony of Parisian football until the late 1910s. During the interwar period, as football gained visibility and legitimacy in French society, the supremacy of Parisian football gradually eroded, although Paris and its inner suburbs remained the venues for the most attractive events of the country, and their teams always enjoyed a certain amount of prestige. The aim is, therefore, to understand how an initially marginal cultural practice developed in the capital of a highly centralised state, and to assess the importance of the Seine department in the historical trajectory followed by French football. In order to do this, the thesis will successively examine the institutional development of Parisian football, the modalities of its progressive spatial anchoring in Paris and the suburban communes of the Seine department and, finally, the manner in which football was able to acquire strong social legitimacy in less than five decades

Full textSport is one of the most important ways to be physically active. The decline in sports participation in some contexts and for some populations has various political, educational and health implications. This problem particularly concerns teenagers. This thesis therefore studies the phenomena of continuation and abandonment of organized and unorganized sports practice by teenagers. Using a comprehensive approach, we aim to describe and understand the diversity of what people refer to as “sport”. The first study concerns the evolution of adolescents’ preferred sports. Comparison of the results of two quantitative surveys conducted in 2001 and 2015 in the French département of Bouches-du-Rhône makes it possible to describe sports preferences and their evolution according to the sex and the socioeconomic status of the participants. The second study explores the reasons why teenagers drop out from sports in the same French département. Using a qualitative methodology, we develop a framework for understanding drop-out. Individuals progress through the different circles of their social life. Their pathway implies constraints, and decisions. This interpretative framework could also be applied to engagement in or resumption of sports practice. Thus, describing the activities that teenagers prefer and understanding why they leave the circle of sports practice can help prevent drop-out. To promote long-term sports participation, it appears essential to listen to adolescents. Knowledge of their reasons for dropping out and the practices they enjoy should help to suggest activities and ways to practise them that are as close as possible to their aspirations

Full textThis work represents an analysis of ideological positions in solidary economy. It attempts to answer the following question : could the solidarity economy resolve the crisis of modern societies ? To answer, we tried to establish the idealogical consistency of the solidary economy since his birth in the 19th century. A solidarity and associative imaginary was born at this time in the first cooperatives. It disapeared during a century before being revived firstly in the alternative economy and secondly in the solidary economy. After having studied contemporary forms of this imaginary in a second part, we show in a third part that this ideological coherence is pervaded by oppositions wich divide associations according to four topics of argumentation. Because these associations have not found adequate compremises between these argumentative topics, the hope that the solidary economy might help solving the modern crisis remains moderate

Full textBetween 1987 and 2017, the German philosopher Axel Honneth - inspired by the model of the struggle for mutual recognition developed by the young Hegel - wished to breathe new life into Frankfurt's critical theory, wanting to go beyond the aporias of the habermassian model of « communicative action », which had in no way shown itself to be operative, to counteract the logics of social domination anywhere in all spheres of capitalist societies. Doing so Honneth has developed - over three successive periods - three different paradigmatic forms for his concept of «recognition». If - during these three periods covering the last thirty years - Honneth has remained logical and rigorous in his descriptive tools, if likewise the permanent enrichment of his « moral grammar of social conflicts », has remained the main tool of his analyses, the epistemological and conceptual aims of his model have changed By moving from the first model of « the struggle for recognition » to the second model of a «democratic ethics of recognition» and finally to a third (normative) model of the « recognition paradigm », Axel Honneth has effected a radical change on three levels, considered as epistemological invariants of the Frankfurt critical theory. Our research - by chronologically and rigorously deconstructing each successive model - will seek to identify between conflict (epistemic), detour (conceptual) and third (methodological), both aporiaes and limits of the last model, which paradoxically therefore assigns to his social philosophy, a more normative than emancipatory dimension
