Abstract:
Research is a form of effort to achieve truth. Research is divided into several methods, namely qualitative, quantitative, and mixed method. Each of these research methods includes several research techniques, one of which is experimental research. Experimental research including quantitative research methods. Broadly speaking, experimental research is divided into pre-experiment, quasi experiment, and true experiment. Many studies still use a one-group design. This study aims to assess the feasibility of one group design using a literature study. The result is that the experimental design of one group is considered less suitable for use in research due to several factors, namely the minimal number of groups, no control group, not random, and low validity.

Abstract:
The results of previous researches indicated that there were problems with the mental model and students’ conceptual understanding of the action-reaction law (Newton’s third law, NTL). This research aimed to reveal the effect of a simple approach in teaching NTL. The research was conducted in the first-year of pre-service physics teachers at the Physics Education Department of Tadulako University. Research designs for three consecutive years were (1) one-group, pre-test, and post-test design, (2) a static group comparison (pre-test for the experimental group), and (3) a quasi-experimental. The approach used was an interactive demonstration that consisted of five phases, i.e: eliciting an intuitive argument, demonstrating a continuous force: pulling, demonstrating a continuous force: pushing, demonstrating impulsive force: collisions, and refining the concept with Elby’s pair. Data were collected using a multiple-choice test developed in previous research. The results of the data analyses showed that the approach could improve students’ understanding of the action-reaction law, supporting conceptual change by exhibiting N-gain in the moderate and high categories. The instructional design can be considered for implementation in learning in high schools, lecture on pre-service physics teachers and basic physics lecture, in general..

Abstract:
Group guidance services are a way of providing assistance to counselees/students through group activities. In the implementation of group services, group dynamics must be created to foster a sense of belonging in the group. The method in this research was bytreatment in which was used a pre-experimental design. The design used was a one-group pre-test post-test design. Assertive training counselors try to give courage to clients in overcoming difficulties with others. Therefore this research resulted in the effectiveness of group guidance (assertive training) to improve student communication skills at SMK Kesehatan Nusantara. Pre-experimental design is a new method used to find the effect of treatment on others under controlled conditions. Based on the results of the paired sample t test analysis, it is known that the P value of 0,014 is less than α=0,05, so there is a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test mean results. This is supported by the t value of -2,853 greater than t table 2,16. The result of testing the correlation value of 0,937 proves that there is a strong correlation between group guidance services (assertive training techniques) in improving communication skills.

Abstract:
The results of an earlier empirical research study on modifying ‘step-by-step’ instructions to practical activities requiring one or more steps of the experiments to be designed by students initiated a longitudinal study to investigate the effectiveness of the approach for younger students and over a period of time. The longitudinal study that followed took the form of a four year research project that began in September 2016. Over 900 students have been involved. All were 12–13 years old in the beginning of the study. Each year they spend six lessons carrying out practical activities using worksheets we provide. This paper reports the findings of the first year, when the participating classes were allocated to one of three groups. Group 1 was the control group. Students simply followed the step-by-step instructions. Groups 2 and 3 were experimental groups. Group 2 students not only followed the same instructions, but also had to complete experimental design tasks on paper. Group 3 students followed the same instructions, but one or more steps were incomplete and students were required to design these steps. The impact of the intervention on the students’ experimental design skills, disciplinary content knowledge and attitude toward chemistry is measured by structured tests. After the first school year of the project it was clear that the type of instruction only had a weak significant positive effect on the results of the Group 2 students’ disciplinary content knowledge. No significant effect of the intervention could be detected on the changes in the students’ grades and attitudes toward the subject, which only seemed to depend on the ranking of their schools. This paper provides the interesting details of the results of the first year (pilot) of the research and discusses changes to the approach that have been made for the remaining three years of the project.

Abstract:
This research sought to improve students' science reading comprehension ability and marine ecological conservation learning interest through the implementation of an inquiry-based learning course. A Triggered situational interest-Reading-Inquiry-Presentation (TRIP) model was proposed to guide the course design. The quasi-experimental design was adopted in this research. Experimental teaching activities were conducted with two classes of second graders (50 students in total) in southern Taiwan. One class served as the experimental group, and the other served as the comparison group. The Science Reading Comprehension Test (SRCT) and Marine Ecology Conservation Learning Interest Scale (MECLIS) were used as instruments. Data were analyzed using the Johnson-Neyman Technique, analysis of covariance, and qualitative analysis. The results showed that the students with lower pre-test scores on the SRCT in the experimental group had better scores on the post-test than those in the comparison group, while the students in both groups with higher pre-test scores on the SRCT had no difference in their post-test scores. Furthermore, the experimental group students had better MECLIS scores than the comparison group students, and the difference had a moderate effect size. Overall, this research suggests that the TRIP model may assist science teachers in designing science reading courses. Keywords: inquiry-based learning, learning interest, reading comprehension, reading literacy.

Abstract:
This research examined the effect of a course designed with different content on pre-service science teachers’ self-efficacy beliefs and knowledge about organizing curriculum-based trips. A pre-test post-test quasi experimental design was used in the research. One-hundred and thirty pre-service science teachers participated in the research. The research was carried out within the context of an elective course called “Informal Learning Environments in Science Education” and was conducted over 14 weeks in total for two hours per week. The research data were obtained by means of a questionnaire, self–efficacy scale for designing curriculum-based field trips (CFTSES) and semi-structured focus-group interviews. As a result of the research, it was found that the course content which included in-class and out-of-school setting practices in the 3rd group was the most effective. This was followed by the 2nd group which included only in-class implementations. The first group which was supported with visuals and theoretical related presented information was the group which was the least effected. The results of the research revealed that pre-service science teachers had mainly different concerns about safety, but that this did not deter them, as they still continued to design curriculum-based field trips for learners. Abstract:
Research in primary health care (PHC) is underdeveloped and scarce, especially in developing countries. It is important to understand the attitudes and aspirations of PHC physicians for the promotion of research. The aim of this study was to determine the attitudes of PHC physician managers toward research in Qassim province and to identify barriers that impede performing research in the PHC system. The study was based on social cognitive theory framework, and was pre-experimental with a ‘one-group pre-test–post-test’ design. The study participants were physician managers in PHC administration, Qassim. The participants’ attitudes were measured by adapting statements from the Attitude Towards Research scale. The intervention was the 1-day training program ‘Introduction to Research in Primary Health Care’. A total of 23 PHC physicians participated in the study. The mean age of the participants was 45.4 (±1.6) years, and the mean years of work experience was 16.2 (±2.2) years. Only one participant had an article published in a peer-reviewed journal. The results of the study showed that PHC physicians had a baseline positive attitude toward research that was further enhanced after participating in an introductory research-training program. During the pre-test, out of the total score of 63, the mean score on attitude toward research was 48.35 (±6.8) while the mean total attitude score in the post-test was 49.7 (±6.6). However, the difference was not statistically significant at P < 0.05. The item with the highest score regarded the role of research in the improvement of health care services, while the lowest-scoring item was about support from administration to conduct research. The participants recognised lack of skills, lack of training and inadequate resources as major barriers in conducting research. Our study results suggest that the PHC physicians’ positive attitudes toward research can be further improved through in-service training. To promote research in PHC in Qassim, regular research-training programs and incentives for conducting research should be provided to the PHC physicians.

Abstract:
A positive attitude correlates to successful learning; while a negative attitude leads to poor learning. The present study aimed to compare the pre-service biology teachers’ attitudes towards learning biology and assessing their attitudinal change before and after being taught by resource-based instructions (RBI) in Rwanda. A survey-research design was used, in combination with a quasi-experimental control group, and the equivalent time-series designs. Pre-service biology teachers were taught at a public university in three separate groups, with one control group and two experimental groups. Each group received a pre-attitude and a post-attitude assessment. In contrast, at a private university, they were taught as a single group, in a series of instructions, starting with the lecture method, followed by animation-based instruction and small- group laboratory activities, in which at each stage, the pre-service biology teachers received the same assessment. The biology Attitudinal Scale showed a Cronbach alpha reliability of 0.625 before its use. The data were analyzed quantitatively; and the results revealed no statistically significant difference between the public and the private pre-service teachers’ attitudes before learning microbiology. After the teaching interventions, the results revealed that both the traditional and the resource-based instructions improved the pre-service biology teachers’ attitudes towards learning biology, as a result of their improved maturity and their anticipated future teaching career.

Abstract:
In the current work we aimed to detect the incubation effect using between-subject and within-subject design. We compared the performance rate of solving Remote Association Test in incubation (with a break) and no-incubation conditions. During the incubation phase participants were listening to the audio record of the science-fiction novel. No significant differences were found in the performance level in incubation and no-incubation conditions, neither in within-group nor in the between-group tests. Nonetheless we found the indirect indicators of the processes that are encountered during the incubation period. The discrepancy in the absence of raw performance indicators of incubation on the one hand, and the presence of the difficulty indicators changes on another hand, is discussed in the context of the activation paradigm and the model of awareness of implicit solution.

Abstract:
In welcoming industry 4.0, teachers in vocational education are required to be able to make students be ready to enter the industry. However, the ability of vocational teachers to replace industry 4.0 is not optimal yet. One of the reason is unavailability of learning media to support IoT-based learning. We use an IoT training kit to make teachers easier to understand the Internet of Things. This trainer kit is equipped with an Arduino, some input devices and communication devices. These features are expected to improve teacher understanding of IoT, making it easier to implement it in the teaching-learning process with their students. The methodology used in this journal is quantitative research, with experimental research designs. The type of experiment used is the type of pre-experimental design, in the form of one group pre-test-post-test. The results of this training can improve the learning outcomes from the cognitive realm is 31.45%.

Abstract:
The function of the crossword puzzle itself is to develop brain nerves that have a refreshing effect on memory, allowing the brain's work function to return to its optimal state because the brain has become accustomed to continuously learning in a relaxed manner. The design of this study is a pre-experimental research design of the type One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design, which is used in pre-experimental research. Because the outcomes of the therapy may be compared to the circumstances before to treatment, the results of the treatment can be known with more accuracy in this research (treatment). The percentages of student learning objectives that were acquired are: low at 6.67%, moderate at 16.67%, high at 40%, and very high at 16.67%. Based on the data gathered, it can be stated that, on the whole, adopting the Crossword Puzzle learning method has a notable effect on students' learning outcomes, as 36.67% of students achieved this level, and 46.67% of students attained this level

Abstract:
In this study the authors attempt to evaluate a stereotype reduction workshop conducted with students from three South African universities. Pre- and post-measures in the form of the stereotypes produced for salient outgroups, and responses on a scale designed to measure constructs related to the aims of the workshop, were gathered from an experimental and a control group. Results were encouraging. The experimental group produced significantly fewer negative stereotypes for one of the outgroups after attending the intervention than they did before the intervention, while the control group's pre-intervention negative stereotypes still existed afterwards. Significant differences in the ratio of negative to total outgroup stereotypes produced before and after the intervention were also found between the experimental and the control groups. On the scale that was used, the post-scores for the experimental group were significantly higher than for the control group, but only at the 90% confidence level. Weaknesses in the design are indicated, and suggestions for further research are made.
