Every investor knows of precious metals - they have been reliable asset classes for years and have been a means of payment for centuries. Most popular and widely known are gold, silver, platinum, and palladium. But there are in fact eight precious metals. Today we will introduce you to the latest and rarest of the precious metals, osmium. Its outstanding characteristics have catapulted it from out of the shadows of its famous siblings right into the spotlight. And for good reasons: being the densest of all non-radioactive elements on earth, osmium is absolutely unforgeable. This, combined with

Abstract In this study, the volatility spillovers from the S&P 500 to the precious metals (gold, silver and platinum) are investigated. By using the TGARCH and DCC GARCH model, the evidence is found that there are spillovers between the S&P 500 and these global commodity markets. However, there are some differences in times of crises which have occurred during the observed 15 years (global economic crisis, debt crisis and corona crisis). In the case of gold, despite extreme volatility, there is no clear evidence of the specific influence of the crises. In contrast, silver and platinum

This paper aims to determine how to combine the Serbian stock index, BELEXline, with four precious metals - gold, silver, platinum and palladium, in order to minimize risk. In the process of portfolio construction, we use the theoretical concept of Markowitz. In particular, we first determine a portfolio of five assets, then exclude an asset with the lowest share and repeat the procedure till we reach a portfolio of two assets. In this way, we construct four portfolios of five, four, three and two assets. In the five-asset portfolio, the portfolio optimization process determines a zero share o

Exploring the hedging ability of precious metals through a novel perspective is crucial for better investment. This investigation applies the wavelet technique to study the complicated correlation between global economic policy uncertainty (GEPU) and the prices of precious metals. The empirical outcomes suggest that GEPU exerts positive influences on the prices of precious metals, indicating that precious metals could hedge against global economic policy uncertainty, which is supported by the inter-temporal capital asset pricing model (ICAPM).
