Abstract:

A mathematical formula used in finance to calculate the theoretical price of an option and ascertain its option premium is known as the Black Scholes option pricing model, which aids option traders in making informed decisions. This article estimates the option premium of various call and put options using the Black Scholes Model. The three distinct option chains chosen for this essay are all Mid-Cap companies that are listed on the Indian National Stock Exchange. The companies are Suzlon Energy, Kalyan jewellers India, and Exide Industries Ltd. The analysis demonstrates that the options are expensive because the Black Scholes model's computation of the option premium is lower than the actual premium in the market. Abstract:

CAPM theory is the core of the modern financial theory. As time went on, more and more people began to invest in CAPM research, many of the contradictions of CAPM have emerged, not least the highly idealistic assumptions and harsh implementation conditions. Different from CAPM, which only has a single factor of market risk beta, The inclusion of size premium and book-to-market ratio premium in this model can effectively explain stock market results. By introducing the model concept of CAPM and FF3 and comparing the empirical evidence in Sattar, M., this paper explains why the explanatory power of CAPM factors is weak. By referring to previous scholars' articles, this essay contrasts and elucidates how the market factor, size premium, and book-to-market ratio premium may all effectively account for stock market returns. According to the study's findings, the three-factor Fama French model has a stronger capacity for explanation than the CAPM model.

Abstract:

This study discusses two discount systems, namely, the insurance pre- mium discount system, where the policyholder’s valuation is objective, and the book price discount system, where the policyholder’s valuation is subjective. The main pur- pose of this study is to compare these discount systems and show the conditions under which each discount system is chosen by an insurance firm. The main conclusions of this study are as follows. First, the insurance firm chooses the book price discount (insurance premium discount) system if the policyholder’s disutility of loss prevention effort is relatively high (low). Second, the insurance firm chooses the book price discount system when the initial wealth and maximum subjec- tive valuation of the book price discount are large. The insurance firm also chooses the book price discount system when the insurance premium, the amount of damage and effect of the loss prevention effort are small.

This research simulates the use of QuillBot Grammar Checker in assessing students' writing errors in English essays. This research is descriptive qualitative. QuillBot announces the availability and accessibility of a new grammar checker. QuillBot's grammar checker can help users (teachers/lecturers) check writing errors in grammar, punctuation, and spelling. The analysis shows that two examples of students’ essays are evaluated by QuillBot Premium. The 1st student’s essay shows 209 words with 21 errors. It consists of grammatical errors (word class) such as nouns, pronouns, prepositions, conjunctions, and adjectives. The 2nd student’s essay shows 161 words with 20 errors. It consists of grammatical errors (word class) such as nouns, pronouns, prepositions, conjunctions, adjectives, and interjections. Users can choose two options (replace or ignore). Replace means change the error words, while ignore means keep maintaining the words In using QuillBot, users type Quillbot in the Google search engine, log in if needed, several menus will appear, and click Grammar Checker. Write or copy the English essay that we want to check. Errors in writing will appear with red underlines completed by many words and the number of errors in an essay. If we want to click repair, select Fix All Errors. QuillBot utilizes Artificial Intelligence (AI) to automatically scan text for grammatical, punctuation, spelling, punctuation, and capitalization issues, highlighting them and allowing users to correct them individually or in bulk with a single click. Teachers/lecturers can use corrective evaluations by using QuillBot as an alternative online tool besides the popularity of Grammarly. Regarding the accuracy level of using QuillBot in evaluating students' writing errors, it may need to be improved. However, other online grammar check applications can be considered and tried besides evaluation manually.

As the global product packaging market is predicted to soar to $1.1 trillion in 2024, the challenge for retail marketers is “How I can make my packaging stand out on a retail shelf?” 1 And a related question, relevant for all packaged products, is “Can my packaging help not only increase customer acceptance, but also a customer’s willingness to pay?”, implying that the product can command a premium. Recent research by Lan Anh N. Ton, Rosanna K. Smith, and Julio Sevilla suggests that for most product categories, packaging simplicity enhances a customer’s willingness to pay, as it emphasizes perceptions of quality, purity or other benefits.2 However, the research also uncovered an exception to the rule: consumer-indulgent products. Abstract:

In the 1960s three major sociopolitical movements, the New Left, Black Power, and feminism, arose in the United States. All three represented assaults on older ideas about the nature of authority, especially as expressed in a hierarchical fashion, all attached a premium to a sense of community, which was defined narrowly to include only members of each group, and all actively sought empowerment for themselves. The present essay examines this matrix. It begins by considering briefly the common historical background and early civil rights activity that influenced and to some extent linked all three movements. The essay then traces in turn each movement's beginning, development, and situation at the end of the Sixties. It explores how these movements shared certain values, expressed those ideas in different settings, and were interrelated in myriad, shifting ways. The overall complex interaction of these three movements suggests a common social critique that was greater than the sum of its parts.

Abstract:

This essay raises a number of theses in support for a more liberalised approach to EU Net Neutrality rules. It offers a graded system of levels of regulatory intervention, arguing that soft Net Neutrality rules are capable of meeting all positive objectives of regulation without causing the problems generated by hard Net Neutrality rules, such as those currently in place in the EU. Hard Net Neutrality rules prevent Internet Service Providers (ISPs) from making disruptive innovations. Meanwhile, they enable some Content and Application Providers (CAPs) to monopolise many markets via (disruptive) innovations, resulting in newly established dominant positions which have, in many instances, been abused. The hypothesis of the essay is that loosening the rules on Net Neutrality would create competition between ISPs and CAPs as well as (which is even more important) between different CAPs for limited premium speed traffic. Such newly established competition could remedy some antitrust conundrums faced by EU competition enforcers and sectorial regulators vis-à-vis disruptive innovators in the area of electronic communications.

AbstractThis essay critically examines T. O. Elias's international legal scholarship, especially in so far as he sought to reclaim, or claim, a place in international legal history for Africa. Having found that Africa contributed to the formation of international law, Elias argued in favour of reforming its rules so that they could serve the interests of the newly independent African states. In this respect he influenced many contemporary international lawyers in Africa and elsewhere. In particular, his singling out of sovereignty as a barrier to reforming international law is shared by generations of international legal scholars who have criticized states for placing too high a premium on their sovereignty, thereby placing insuperable barriers to their acceptance of egalitarian goals, expressed by, for example, the international bill of human rights. The essay also contrasts Elias to scholars of international law who took the colonial legacy of international law as a barrier to reforming it so that it was consistent with the interests of so-called post-colonial African states.

As people become increasingly concerned with their health, the market for sports beverages is rapidly expanding. Beverages are evolved into more practical vitamin and food supplement items. This essay intends to explore whether the acquisition may increase Coca-Cola’s profitability by entering the sports drink industry. Due to the magnitude of this deal on a worldwide scale, this article mostly used secondary research as research approach. BodyArmor and Coca-Cola's finances are first being analyzed to access the deal's premium. Meanwhile, the united conglomerate's future development potential is analyzed using the 4Ps: price, product, location, and promotion. Overall, a cost-benefit analysis is performed to see whether this acquisition transaction will actually allow Coca-Cola to develop over time by entering the sport drink industry. The study suggests that the acquisition provides a lot of diversification benefits in terms of the synergy formed.

Abstract:The Wire, which aired on premium channel cable HBO from 2002 to 2008, is one of the most acclaimed series ever produced for the medium of television. Set in Baltimore, The Wire examines American bureaucracy and ruminates on the shortcomings of public institutions. Notably, more than half of The Wire's ensemble is African American, and while this accurately reflects Baltimore's racial demographics, such diversity remains a rarity in American dramatic television. Thus, The Wire provides a unique opportunity for scholarly research on cultural representations of race and gender in popular media, particularly regarding how they intersect. The goal of this critical studies essay is to determine if The Wire perpetuates or challenges popular notions of hegemonic masculinity, and how they differ across racial representations. The study aimed to investigate Virtual Writing Tutor (VWT) on students’ writing skill at writing class. The study involved 30 participants taking writing subject at English and Literature Department, Language and Art Faculty, Universitas Negeri Medan. The qualitative method was conducted in this study. An observation sheet, questionnaire, and interview guidance were the instruments of study. The findings of the study showed that 100% of students are interested in using the media in practicing their writing skills. However, 45% of students stated that the choice of essay types was limited. Furthermore, 15% of students stated that there are features that cannot be accessed for free because they must have a premium (paid) account. Thus, , it is still necessary to be highlighted that using VWT is not the only way to get better at writing. It ought to be utilized in conjunction with classroom instruction and lecturer directions.

With the promotion of the "Belt and Road" initiative, the scale of China's overseas FDI has been growing exponentially, and the exposure of Chinese enterprises to overseas investment to political risks has also been on the increase. It is common for major capital-exporting countries in the world to safeguard themselves against overseas investment risks by creating an overseas insurance system for such investments. Amongst them, the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA) is a representative insurance system, which is also a modality that China can learn from. At this moment, the China National Export and Credit Insurance Corporation (Sinosure) is the exclusive domestic commercial enterprise that covers overseas capital investment insurances in China. There are still some deficiencies in the scope of coverage, insurance premium regulations and underwriting conditions in the field of insurance. This essay investigates the issues of collection on insurance for Sinosure 's overseas ventures, learns from MIGA's insurance system, and puts forward suggestions for improvement.

The paper aims to present the results of the experiment in applying the online writing assistant Grammarly.com to evaluate ESP students’ essay writing skills. One hundred master students’ papers were processed by the application to identify persisting errors at a master’s level. Quantitative and qualitative methods enabled the researchers to analyze the essays by setting five parameters: audience, formality, domain, tone, and intent. At the other end, the application broke down the outcome by five measurable factors: correctness, clarity, delivery, engagement, and style issues. The representative number of the essays fed into Grammarly.com provided a vivid and reliable picture of which lexis, grammar, structure, or style issues still need addressing. The most common mistakes detected by Grammarly.com were punctuation, wordy sentences, redundancy, and the abundance of personal pronouns in a formal style. They show that the gaps in students’ academic writing need a remedial course. Another objective of the research was to explore the potential of the online writing tool for students’ self-study. Grammarly.com cannot do work for students: it cannot think for them, neither can it write for them, but it can help learners identify the reoccurring writing problems, eliminate them, and monitor the progress. The application could be particularly useful for advanced students. The functionality of the Grammarly premium version allows for a choice of styles, type of addressee, tone of writing, and many other nuances, which could be beneficial not only for studies but in future professional life. Nonetheless, despite Grammarly’s advanced features, it only suggests a better variant, sometimes it errs, and in no way is it a substitute for a teacher.

Abstract Any scholarly description of Hungarian dialects may only be possible for the time period after the settlement of the Hungarian-speaking population in the Carpathian Basin. Research in historical dialectology has primarily focused on the phonological characterization of 11th-14th century conditions, while in terms of sources, scholars have so far relied primarily on early data related to tribes’ names, historical data recorded in charters, today’s dialects, as well as evidence provided by related languages and elements borrowed from others. My paper sets out to establish the value of various sources in historical dialectology in view of our current knowledge in language history and calls attention to related methodological pitfalls. As most of these source types may also greatly contribute to the better understanding of the history of other languages, these methodological issues are relevant not only for Hungarian historical linguistics and dialectology but also more generally. There is a premium placed on the maintenance of our privacy and confidentiality as individuals in society. For a productive and functional doctor–patient relationship, there needs to be a belief that details divulged in confidence to the doctor will be kept confidential and not disclosed to the wider public. However, where the information disclosed to the doctor could have implications for the safety of the wider public, for example disclosures with potential criminal implications, or have serious consequences for another individual, as is the case in genetic medicine, should doctors feel confident about breaching confidentiality? This essay firstly explores the legal rulings regarding cases in which confidentiality has been breached where there was risk of significant harm to others following the patient’s disclosure, and secondly, focusing on the evolving legal position with regard to confidentiality in contexts where information sharing would be beneficial to others, for example the evolving case of the implications of genetic diagnosis on families (eg, ABC v St George’s Healthcare NHS Trust; 2017).

As a reminiscent prose, The Sight of Father&rsquo;s Back was written by the modern writer, Zhu Ziqing, in 1925. A wave of warm current floods a large body of readers since this essay describes, in earnest, love of father. This research performs a contrastive analysis of interpersonal function between the Chinese and English versions of The Sight of Father&rsquo;s Back in terms of mood, modality, and evaluation meanings. We find that mood and evaluation meanings display parallel distribution. Declarative and exclamatory moods occur most frequently in both the Chinese and English versions, whereas interrogative mood is at a premium. Besides, various evaluative adjectives and adverbs are used in both versions. However, modality shows remarkable discrepancies. The English version tends to adopt modal verbs with median-and-low value, while most median-and-high value modal verbs are presented in the Chinese version. In our view, the exercise of median-and-high value modal verbs reflects the thoughts more directly. While the selection of median-and-low value modal verbs might be concerned with the need for politeness. Besides, diverse choices of modal verbs are incident to various modal meanings along with research purposes.

The gaming industry has seen acquisitions big and small. In recent years, Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard topped the list with a total value of 68.7 billion dollars. This paper focuses on the deal as a case study, with reference to the value of both companies and potential risks. It aims to explore the motivation of both parties based on their perceived pros and cons of this acquisition, so as to delineate the logic behind this gigantic acquisition. After conducting multiple studies on both companies, this paper finds the deal worthwhile indeed for both sides, despite the higher potential risks imposed on Microsoft. Activision Blizzard has seen its public image tarted in recent years by rampant sexual harassment rumors and the resultant massive outflow of employees. This decreases its leverage over Microsoft and weakens its position in negotiations. On the other hand, appreciating the profit-making potentials of several big game IPs owned by Blizzard, Microsoft is willing to make a general purchasing offer at a premium (Activision Blizzard market value of about $61.6 billion, but Microsoft acquired with $68.7 billion). This is despite relevant concerns raised about the potential risks of digesting the latter’ s bad reputation. Overall, the paper argues that such compromises are cost-efficient for Microsoft, since the deal helps it gain a firm foothold in the gaming industry. Based on the study findings, the essay also brings into discussion many other factors required to complete a successful acquisition.

Its preparatory handwritten and typed versions, however, have been used to support the study of the work rather than being considered as objects of study. Full digitisation of the corpus offers new perspectives. The aim of this article is to demonstrate the value of an extensive approach of the archives of the ‘Essay’ as a method of reinterpreting the text from an internal, comparative reading, which could reveal new versions of the article, give a more nuanced approach to it and, consequently, adjust its author's intentions in respect to previous critical readings. L’‘Essai sur le don’, texte majeur de la sociologie française du premier XXe siècle, est aussi un des plus commentés. Toutefois, ses versions préparatoires, manuscrites et dactylographiées, ont servi d'appoint à l’étude de l'article plus qu'ils n'ont été considérés comme des objets d’étude. Abstract. Much recent scholarship explores the consequences of Heidegger's transformation of philosophic thinking for our understanding of political theory at the edge of modernity. In a response to recent readings, this essay argues that the contemporary literature on Heidegger fails to account for two fundamental concerns: the ontic/ontological distinction and the importance of moods, particularly anxiety and boredom. Utilizing these moods, this essay explores the ways in which Heidegger's thought escapes politics through a privileging of the ontological, or object-less, experience, relying on a reclusive reflection as the way to authenticity. Instead of fostering a strong community or strong liberal sense of self, Heidegger leaves us with the nothingness of anxiety and the emptiness of boredom as our alternatives. By transcending the ontic in favor of the ontological, Heidegger divorces himself from politics in the everyday sense and posits an existential response to political theory that is unable to foster authentic collective life.Résumé. Une part importante de la littérature récente explore les conséquences de la transformation de la pensée philosophique amenée par Heidegger et ses effets sur notre compréhension de la théorie politique à l'aube de l'ère moderne. The Essar v. Norscot decision rendered by the High Court of England and Wales in 2016 has opened the door, or at least a window, for the recovery of the full fees of third party funding arrangements in international commercial arbitration. The recoverability of the success fees or premiums payable under a third-party funding (TPF) agreement as costs in arbitration can be criticized on three fundamental and overlapping bases. First, the distinction between funds actually advanced by the third-party funder and a premium is crucial. Secondly, the arbitrator’s discretion is defined and limited by law and should focus primarily on the allocation of costs rather than the definition of the recoverable costs. Finally, an award for the full recovery of third party funding fees should only be made on a clearly defined legal basis. In addition, there are a number of policy considerations which point against the recoverability of the full costs of TPF. The authors recommend modifications to institutional arbitration rules and national arbitration laws to clarify issues related to the recoverability of third party funding costs in arbitration. In the meantime, commercial parties may consider including more detailed contractual provisions to avoid any unforeseen or undesired liability for the costs of TPF.

Abstract. An analysis of international arbitration indicates that, prima facie, certain crucial differences between the continental approach and common law practice exist. The main differences relate to the general hearing (written/verbal), the position of the parties in relation to the arbitrator, the proof-taking procedure, the duty to give reasons for the decision, and the division of competences between the judiciary and the arbitrator. On the other hand it must be pointed out that the main trends in international arbitration lead to a blurring of these differences. In particular mention may be made of the lex mercatoria, reduction in judicial control, and the evolution towards transnational arbitration. Résumé. Quand on étudie l’arbitrage international, on s’aperçoit au premier abord qu’il existe des différences essentielles entre l’approche continentale et la pratique de common law. Ces différences se manifestent spécialement en ce qui concerne les règles générales relatives aux auditions (écrites/orales), la situation des parties à 1’égard de l’arbitre, le droit de la preuve, la force obligatoire de la décision et la division des compétences entre le judiciaire et l’arbitre. D’un autre côté, on doit constater que les tendances fondamentales en matière d’arbitrage international contribuent à l’effacement de ces différences. On peut spécialement se référer à la lex mercatoria, aux restrictions misus au contrôle judiciaire et à l’évalution vers un arbitrage transnational. Zusammenfassung. Analysiert man das internationale Schiedsgerichtsverfahren, bemerkt man auf den ersten Blick wesentliche Unterschiede zwischen der Methode des continentalen Rechtskreises und der Praxis im Bereich des common law. Diese Unterschiede treten besonders in Hinblick auf die allgemeine Anhörung (schriftlich/mündlich), die Stellung der Parteien im Verhältnis zum Schiedrichter, das Beweisverfahren, die Pflicht, die Entscheidung zu begründen, und in Bezug auf die Aufteilung der Kompetenzen zwischen der Gerichtsbikeit und dem Schiedrichter auf. Auf der anderen Seite muß man feststellen, daß grundlegende Tendenzen in internationalen Schiedsgerichtsverfahren dazu beitragen, die Unterschiede zu verwischen. Diesbezüglich kann man inbesondere auf die lex mercatoria, die Einschränkung gerichtlicher Kontrolle und die Entwicklung zu transnationalen Schiedsgerichtsverfahren hinweisen.

Cet article vise à rendre compte des figures exemplaires de la Franco-Amérique présentes dans l’oeuvre de François Paré afin de témoigner de l’évolution de la pensée de l’essayiste. Il s’agira de traiter, dans un premier temps, des plus importantes que l’on retrouve dans son premier essai, Les littérature de l’exiguïté, et, dans un deuxième temps, de celles présentes dans son dernier essai sur le sujet, Le fantasme d’Escanaba, qui prolonge et cherche à dépasser les visées du premier. Conscient des limites de sa notion fondamentale, Paré restreint son corpus dans Le fantasme d’Escanaba pour mettre en lumière les auteurs phares de la Franco-Amérique en laissant de côté les littératures de l’exiguïté de par le monde. Par ailleurs, un des enjeux poétiques du parcours essayistique de Paré devient dans le dernier essai le glissement vers un « je » nostalgique dont le parcours individuel reste intimement lié à son objet d’études. En analysant le panthéon des auteurs marquants pour François Paré, on tentera de mieux circonscrire les convergences, les contradictions et les « dérives obsessionnelles » qui habitent l’essayiste.

Un travail récent (VEYRET, 1978) portant sur les phénomènes glaciaires dans le massif central français a obligé à une mise au point terminologique. Les notions de cirque glaciaire, de drift, till, moraine, de drumlin, de kame et esker, de sandur et de valley-train, de glacier noir ont été envisagées. Dans chaque cas, on a tenté de retrouver le premier sens du mot évoqué, puis on a voulu dégager d’une bibliographie très volumineuse la définition couramment admise des différentes notions étudiées. Dans le détail, la genèse des formes analysées fait l’objet de beaucoup de divergences entre les auteurs et bien des points qu’il convenait de rappeler demeurent incomplètement éclairés. Cette étude n’avait pas pour but de discuter l’appelation des formes et des dépôts considérés et elle n’a pas cherché à suggérer de nouveaux termes français pour les substituer à ceux d’origine étrangère déjà existants et souvent bien introduits dans la littérature scientifique.

Résumé Cet essai présente quelques-uns des résultats obtenus dans un projet de recherche à long terme sur le risque moral entrepris par l’auteur et Joseph Stiglitz. Le message central est que la présence du risque moral modifie radicalement les propriétés positives et normatives de l’équilibre concurrentiel. En particulier, le risque moral peut générer des courbes d’indifférence non convexes et un ensemble de possibilités non convexe. Principalement à cause de ces non-convexités, la définition de l’équilibre concurrentiel devient subtile. Selon la définition choisie, à un extrême, l’équilibre peut ne pas exister et, à l’autre extrême, il se peut qu’il y ait une infinité d’équilibres. De plus, l’équilibre concurrentiel peut être caractérisé par le rationnement des achats d’assurances, des profits positifs, de l’inactivité du marché même s’il y a des gains à l’échange, et/ou de l’assurance aléatoire. Finalement, sous le risque moral, ni le premier ni le second théorème de l’économie du bien-être ne sont valides et les prix du marché ne reflètent pas les coûts d’opportunité sociaux.

Trois aspects sont considérés : 1 ) l'ouverture des rangs (1 900 en 1835,12 000 en 1948) ; 2) l'occupation des rangs qui suit une courbe concave-convexe avec un maximum d'environ 6700 rangs habités au cours du premier quart du XXe siècle ; 3) la fermeture des rangs. L'évaluation des trois phases de ce cycle met en perspective la situation actuelle : plus de deux rangs sur trois ne sont plus occupés et, en 1980, la Plaine de Montréal constitue la principale région à rangs du Québec.
