Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a multifaceted inflammatory autoimmune disease characterised by the infiltration of leukocytes into synovial joints leading to the destruction of articular cartilage and bone. Autoreactive CD4+ T cells producing inflammatory cytokines are implicated in disease pathogenesis. The clinical efficacy of B cell-depletion therapy is not dependent on clearance of autoantibodies suggesting a critical role for B cells as antigen presenting cells (APC). To elucidate the role of B cells in activating CD4+ T cells in RA, this project examined B cell- mediated antigen presentati

The dendritic cell system of antigen presenting cells is the initiator and modulator of the immune response. The principle function of the dendritic cells is to present antigens to resting naïve T lymphocytes: these cells are the only APCs that prime naïve T cells and only mature DCs can carry out this function.Previous studies done on dendritic cells showed that bacterial peptides can induce the maturation of dendri

Throughout evolution, mammals have co-existed with many harmless organisms such as saprophytic mycobacteria. These "Old Friends" have helped the hosts' immune system to evolve immunoregulatory mechanisms that prevent inappropriate immune responses. Exposure, once a common occurrence has now become increasingly rare. A revised version of the hygiene hypothesis proposes that this reduced exposure may be a contributing factor to the recent increase in allergic diseases in developed countries. Couple psychotherapy extends the work of the psychotherapist to the patient’s most significant committed adult relationship, yet the therapy is difficult both conceptually and technically. One major reason for this difficulty is that in every couple’s treatment there is a confusing array of psychological defenses as well as regressive and nonregressive couple object relations-as distinct from the object relations that each individual member brings to the couple. Further, many of these processes are occurring outside consciousness and at the very same time. This book is an attempt to clarify al

Abstract:
The state of musculoskeletal system incidence of pupils of secondary schools remains a pressing problem in all regions of Ukraine, in spite of significant achievements in this direction. The determination of the readiness of teachers and senior students of pedagogical college for implementation of health-keeping technologies, which are aimed at creating a physiological posture of schoolchildren, to the educational process was conducted by our questioning method. 95% of teachers and 77.6% of students (according to polls) need methodological assistance for effective use of health-keeping technol

More transportation options such as transit, walking and biking are good for the environment, economy, and social equity. • A system with improved transportation options and reduced driving could save up to $175 billion in energy infrastructure and $125 billion in public health costs through 2050, presenting a more effective climate solution than the current car-dependent model. • The auto and oil industries have a vested interest in car dependence, currently receiving more than 75% of public and private transportation spending and have lobbied for decades to prioritize cars over a more comple

Abstract:
This technical note describes the physical and numerical considerations for developing an idealized numerical wave-structure interaction modeling study using the fully nonlinear, phase-resolving Boussinesq-type wave model, FUNWAVE-TVD (Shi et al. 2012). The focus of the study is on the range of validity of input wave characteristics and the appropriate numerical domain properties when inserting partially submerged, impermeable (i.e., fully reflective) coastal structures in the domain. These structures include typical designs for breakwaters, groins, jetties, dikes, and levees. In addition to p

On the basis of scientific analysis the article authors develop a scheme that allows planning and organizing the process of learning foreign languages with the use of dialogic didactic means during foreign language training of future miners. The article gives a definition of „educational dialogue‟, observes its structure, and defines its stages: modeling (a future educational dialogue model designing and ways of its implementation at a lesson); motivational (identifying problem, task for solving which encourage further active learnsearch activity of educational dialogue participants); searchin

Multiple jurisdictions have adopted or adapted paid sick leave policies to reduce the likelihood of employees infected with SARS-CoV-2 presenting to work, which can lead to the spread of infection in workplaces. During the COVID-19 pandemic, paid sick leave has been associated with an increased likelihood of workers staying at home when symptomatic. Paid sick leave can support essential workers in following public health measures. This includes paid time off for essential workers when they are sick, have been exposed, need to self-isolate, need time off to get tested, when it is their turn to

Abstract:
The Value-Added Tax (VAT) is the most prevalent consumption tax globally, yet it is frequently deemed highly regressive. To address this, we propose a Personalized VAT (PVAT) devised in conjunction with a distributional policy. We aim to achieve three objectives: increase revenue collection, achieve progressivity, and disrupt the intergenerational dependency of low-income households. We use Mexico as a case study, showing that eliminating all special VAT regimes and standardizing the rate at 16% could contribute an additional 2.2% of GDP to fiscal revenues. However, such a reform could have se

Abstract:
We introduce a quantum neural network, QNN, that can represent labeled data, classical or quantum, and be trained by supervised learning. The quantum circuit consists of a sequence of parameter dependent unitary transformations which acts on an input quantum state. For binary classification a single Pauli operator is measured on a designated readout qubit. The measured output is the quantum neural network’s predictor of the binary label of the input state. We show through classical simulation that parameters can be found that allow the QNN to learn to correctly distinguish the two data sets. W
