This diploma thesis addresses globally discussed topic of potential development co-operation effects on conflict prevention in Africa. After theoretical and historical analysis of the roots and development of conflicts in 11 selected Sub-Saharan African states, this thesis points out through several real examples different and often unexpected results of development programs. From partial conclusions, which have clear geographic connection, the thesis uses simple induction method to evaluate and to recommend further proactive changes in development policies.

The dissertation is devoted to the notion of preventive diplomacy. In the first part, various theoretical approaches to the term are discussed, especially regarding the position of preventive diplomacy in the cycle of conflict, and its instruments. A brief overview of regional arrangements and their role in preventive diplomacy is provided, too, since the second main part of the work focuses on the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) and its proclaimed intention to introduce preventive diplomacy in the region. Nonetheless, as the study shows, the ARF participants have not yet resorted to the development of preventive diplomacy. The objective of the dissertation is twofold: besides providing a synthesis and systemization of theoretical approaches to preventive diplomacy, it aims to identify the main obstacles hindering the ARF to implement effective measures of preventive diplomacy. In this respect, it is argued that it is both the set of norms also known as ASEAN Way and the Chinese negative stance that constitute the major reason of ARF's inability to proceed to the stage of preventive diplomacy.

This diploma thesis deals with the problems of insurance fraud in our society. The thesis is divided into several relatively separate sections. The theoretical part describes a basic characteristic, classification and origins of insurance fraud and it deals with a general description of perpetrators of fraudulent actions. An analysis of fraudulent actions in life and non-life insurance is carried out in the theoretical part of the diploma thesis. This work characterises the importance and the mutual relationship between detection and investigation of fraudulent actions. It also highlights the facts which aid and abet insurance fraud. The aim of the practical part of the diploma thesis was to carry out an analysis of various insurance fraud cases in the realm of motor insurance according to the subject, object and the most frequent variants of fraudulent actions and consequently create a profile of the perpetrator of insurance fraud on the basis of the evaluation of the analysis. The practical case study of client’s expedient behaviour enables us to look on detection of the particular insurance fraud. The end of the diploma thesis deals with recommendations for the measures which should be taken to fight insurance fraud.

An objective of this diploma work is to make out, what pupils' lifestyle at second-degree of elementary schools in town district of Prague 10 is up to date and how this acquirement can be applied to create primary prevention program in the Authority of Municipal Part Prague 10 and elementary schools, which settlor Municipal Part Prague 10 is. Another aim of the work is to introduce in what form a contemporary program of primary prevention by the Authority of Municipal Part Prague 10 is being applied. In the theoretical part, there are outlined causes of social-pathological behaviour of children and teenagers, stated features and occurrence quantity of the wrongful behaviour; the work involves a family treatment of group of children and teenagers. The prevention problems are included in whole scope, from determination of prevention designation, kinds of prevention programmes as far as to particular institutions of public administration, which pay attention to these problems. The aim of the diploma thesis is to describe the system of cooperation between the NGOs and Prague 7 City district on the field of providing the services of anti-drug prevention. In September 2008, the pilot project of Prague centre of primary prevention was starteed. If the project is successfully realised , it is expected, hat the cooperation between the NGOs and particular Prague city districts will be systematized. Firstly , the thesis briefly introduces the activities and the status of two workers, who are responsible for for the collabaration with the NGOs, that provide the preventional activities. These workers are: the school methodist of drug prevention and the anti-drugs coordinator. Then the attention is paid to thier "anchorage" within the scheme of anti-drugs politics in the Czech Republic and their relationship with the NGOs. The following part of the thesis is devoted to the process of the certification, that is an important instrument for the NGOs to get the money from the state budget. One of the chapters deals with the laws, strategical and methodical documents, that refer to the implementation of the anti-drugs prevention. I chose two organizations to make a survey with them. The aim of this diploma thesis is to find out and present primary school teachers' attitude to the possibilities of the implementation of an individualized approach in terms of the prevention of school difficulties. The method that was chosen in order to achieve this aim was a structured interview carried out with primary school teachers. The collected data were processed with the use of the grounded theory method and assessed in discussion. The results of this thesis offer a great amount of information and topics about the means and conditions of realization of individualized education in the first grade with the aim of the highest development of a pupil who is potentially at the risk of future school difficulties or who already has them. These findings may help not only for broadening of primary school teachers' awareness about the possibilities of an individualized approach but also for another research into this issue. We describe the principles of their cooperation in term of rights of the child and his social-law protection, due to the Act No. 359/199 Coll., social-law protection of children and due to the Decree No. 72/2005 Coll., providing counselling services in schools and school counselling institutions. Simultaneously we are opening the topic of possible moral dilemmas which can the teacher deal with in term of social-law protection of the student. Pavlina Matouskova DEPARTMENT: Department of Primary Education SUPERVISOR: PaedDr. Ehler, Ph.D. ABSTRACT The basic prerequisite for coping with educational skills, especially reading, is sufficient development of phonemic hearing in kindergarten. The improvement of the level of phonetic- phonological grade at preschool children can be provided with suitable equipment and methodology for teachers. The aim of the thesis is an analysis of phonemic hearing at children in the last year of preschool education and the related creation of own model of activities and aids. The level of phonemic hearing was carried among children from selected kindergartens. One of them focused on the development of phonemic hearing and worked with the proposed model and in the rest of the kindergartens the prevention of speech therapy was held in accordance with school curricula. Initial analysis was done at the beginning of the school year and comparing of results was done in the second half. The conclusion is an objective assessment of effectiveness of proposed actions in the practice. This thesis deals with the school crisis plan as one of the methods to help teachers with solving situations in consequence of risk behavior of pupils. School crisis plan is a set of procedures solving risk situations which may occur in the school environment as a result of risk behaviour of pupils. The thesis is composed of five basic parts. The first four parts are theoretical. They deal with the general concept of the school crisis plan and its integration into the system of preventive action within the school risk behavior. An important part is also a description of the roles of teachers with regard to crisis situations in school and the possibility of their cooperation, which I see as one of the most crucial points of effective implementation of the crisis plan of the school. Another equally crucial point in the effective implementation of the school crisis plan are competence of teachers, which are also listed in this section of my thesis. The fifth part of the thesis deals with the practical use of school crisis plan. There are several approaches to solving specific situations that may appear in school within the risk behaviors. These procedures are shown graphically for easy orientation.

The word infection is a term which causes uncertainty among people. After all, it is not too long ago when people were dying in pandemics of plague, cholera or influenza. A human can be infected by viruses, bacteria, fungal organisms or parasites, many of which can infect several animal species. Diseases transmissible from animals to humans are called zoonoses. For efficient surveillance of zoonoses the cooperation of both veterinary and hygienic services is required. Its aim is timely detection and elimination of infection sources. It is based primarily on pointed veterinary and hygienic-epidemiological surveillance. In this thesis, I focused on the importance of collaboration of veterinary and public health services in the prevention of infectious diseases. One of the objectives of this work is to compare the occurrence of selected human zoonosis diseases in South Bohemia in the years 2002-2010. The second objective is to compare the extent of anti-epidemic measures adopted by veterinary services and public health authorities. In this thesis, a qualitative-quantitative research was utilized. The research aimed to determine the importance of cooperation of public health authorities and veterinary services in the prevention of infectious diseases. The quantitative part of the survey was conducted through the method of secondary data analysis. In the qualitative part of the survey, a semi-structured interview was held with the head of the epidemiology department of the District Hygienic Station of České Budějovice and with the director of the Regional Veterinary Administration for the South Bohemian Region. On the basis of the results of the research and implemented interviews I came to this conclusion: 1) The co-operation during the transmission of infectious diseases is ensured sufficiently. 2) The range of anti-epidemic measures adopted in the veterinary field and in the field of public health is sufficient. This thesis can serve as an educational material for students studying Bachelor or Master Degree of public health protection, because as public health service employees they will deal with issues related to veterinary supervision in practice.

Domestic violence represents a societal problem that needs to be tackled at all levels. In the prevention and subsequent resolution of these issues are involved many actors including the state security component, i.e. the Police of the Czech Republic, as well as the civil sector organizations. In practice, however, it is becoming more and more common that the work of police officers and organizations staff is very often linked within the framework of the monitored issue, which often requires some degree of cooperation between the two, in many ways different, actors. This diploma thesis is already working with the assumption that there is already some form of cooperation among the actors involved. The main aim of the work, however, is to find out what form this collaboration has. The uniqueness of the research, based on semi-structured interviews, consists mainly of the views of both parties, both representatives of the Police of Czech Republic and employees of civil society organizations which are dealing with domestic violence issues. The thesis focuses on sex education in the lower Primary School. The aim is to map it on the general level, that means its definition and settings for Primary Schools, and then to design the teaching units and to do a partial implementation at the chosen school. The theoretical part describes the development of sex education, inspiration from abroad and mainly its current concept from 1989 until today. There are mentioned its objectives, principles and ethics, legal representation, the negative aspects of human sexuality, the course and content. The thesis also examines the role of family and school. The practical part focuses on the approach of parents and teachers to sex education at the chosen school through a survey and a structured interview. Based on the positive results, there is a proposal of teaching units for education implementation, verification of one of them in practice, and there is also a list of recommended literature and materials for parents. Background: Studies situated in an institutional care environment point to the fact that addiction issues in institutional care are a topic that deserves special attention, even with regard to the fact that the children of these institutions are considered vulnerable to risky behavior. The Ústí nad Labem Region has long been in the first places in the prevalence of substance use and is also specific in the occurrence of a number of negative social factors. In the whole region there is 1 addiction treatment outpatient clinic focused on the target group of children and adolescents, which during its operation registered repeated demand for specialized help that originates from children's homes. Aim: The main aim of the study is to identify the opportunity of applying an addiction specialist in the children's home in the Ústí nad Labem region. The partial aims of the study are to map the current state of addiction issues in these children's homes and to describe the possible form of cooperation of these facilities and addiction specialist with regard to the identification of barriers to this cooperation. The purpose of this thesis titled ``The competence of students from selected faculties of Charles University to prevent Child Sexual Abuse (CSA) syndrome{\crq}q is to identify the readiness of selected future specialists (final year students specialising in the relative area) to prevent Child Sexual Abuse (CSA) syndrome. In the theoretical part of this work fundamental definitions, as well as terms relevant to Child Sexual Abuse syndrome (CSA), or Child Abuse and Neglect syndrome (CAN) are mentioned. Furthermore, some aspects of epidemiological indicators are presented showing us proof of Child Sexual Abuse (CSA) syndrome in common populations and therefore a need to address this problem. In the practical part of this thesis quantitative interviews were used, which were implemented by Computer Aided Web Interviewing (CAWI). The subject group was a convenience sample of 579 students in there final year (2007/2008) of studying. Students from the following faculties participated: Charles University {--} 1., 2., 3. Medical faculty, Medical faculty in Hradec Kralove, Medical faculty in Plzen, Faculty of Law, Pedagogic faculty, faculty of Philosophy and Human resources faculty. Five hundred seventy nine respondents studying in academic year of 2007/2008 on selected faculties of Charles University were contacted. The questionnaire that was used comprised of different parts, in which both closed as well as open-ended type of questions were used. The scale was used in the analyses of the primary outcome measures. The absolute frequency, relative frequency, cumulative frequency, independent chi square, analysis of variance medium and sample standard deviation were determined. Both tables and graphs were used to show the frequencies distribution Based on results a standard of minimal knowledge/training was established based on the results. Recommendations were made as to the means for facilitating functional interdisciplinary collaborations. The recommendations presented in this thesis are fundamental and are intended to be used by University professors at of the above mentioned Universities. The standard includes fundamental terminology and logistics. The ultimate goal of this work is that it be applied, and that new and relevant information be added by specific faculties.
