Abstract:
An analysis of the social pedagogical work with difficult children is presented, outlining characteristics, specifics and approaches for prevention and social accompaniment. In order to highlight the specifics of this group of children, a comparison is made with two other groups of children in a situation of life difficulty - "socially disadvantaged children" and "children at risk". The analysis refers to the understanding that difficult children are children with impaired emotional development, difficulty in communicating with others and disrupted behavioral control, all of which can lead to consequences both on a personal and behavioral level. It is emphasized that difficult children turn into such in situations where adults cannot find an adequate approach to them, and most often these adults are members of the family, parents, or teachers. An overview of scientific positions on difficult children by English, American, Russian and Bulgarian researchers is offered. This is the basis for outlining the main spheres which affect children negatively and categorize them as "difficult children" - emotional-personal; learning-cognitive; behavioral; somatic. The reasons for children’s difficult behavior are examined, including: the family and the flaws in it; the lack of spiritual connection between parents and children; the asocial environment; participation in criminal groups; errors in the work of educational institutions; economic difficulties that have influenced all spheres of public life. The characteristics of problem children are presented that account for the formulation of the principles of social pedagogical work with them. It is emphasized that one of the important approaches in the work is the development of skills for social inclusion, social expression and self-assertion. The model for social pedagogical work with difficult children is developed in two aspects: preventive work and social accompaniment. Preventive work consists in constantly informing all stakeholders - teachers, educators, non-pedagogical staff in educational institutions and the family on the opportunities for preventing "difficult children" on the one hand, and ensuring interaction between the participants in the preventive activities as well as striving to attract more organizations and institutions, on the other. The social accompaniment as a social pedagogical work includes: identification of children with difficult behavior at the earliest stage of the disadaptation process, diagnosis of the factors of the difficult behavior and the reasons for the disadvantage, preparation of an individual road map for working with the child, implementation of the individual program for accompanying the child, measuring and analyzing the results of the child's work and his / her close circle.

Abstract:
The techniques for preventing risk have traditionally been analyzed on an individual basis, it being highly complex to apply preventive procedures across the board in construction works. This implies the necessary risk assessment based on the common factors of Safety at Work, Industrial Hygiene, Ergonomics and Psychosociology. This work analyzes and classifies the environments which characterize the building process: absolute (initial), documentary, construction, social and life cycle, and identifies the technical-documentary processes associated with each one. Finally, a new risk assessment method adapted to building works is proposed, called “Level of Preventive Action”, by means of a new mathematical formula which encompasses Safety at Work, Industrial Hygiene, Ergonomic and Psychosociological factors. It is based upon the development of the William T. Fine method, adapting it to construction works, with the incorporation of six parameters to explain the degree of correction. It consolidates and connects environment parameters to determine the preventive action level of the construction work, with the objective of establishing the levels of preventive control required to achieve an optimum prevention situation. The results of comparison between the environments in the implementation of the new risk assessment methodology during the construction process in a real building work are shown.

Abstract:
In view of how serious the current gender violence situation is and of the increase of such violence in some groups as the adolescents, social work has a key role in gender violence early detection and prevention. Theoretical contributions are presented, as well as practices which support a community-based social work starting from a preventive socialization against gender violence. The need to train the future social workers in the main contributions of the international scientific community about gender violence early detection and prevention is also emphasized. This training will enable them to carry out, in the future, this community-based social work from the gender violence preventive socialization perspective.

Abstract:
Abstract Studies demonstrate that preventive practices, including restorative practices and social and emotional learning, reduce the need for suspension. However, emerging findings suggest that preventive practices perpetuate the same rates of racial disproportionality in suspension as traditional disciplinary codes; evidence of persistent racial disproportionality appears in research on restorative practices. The purpose of this study was to examine, through interviews with teachers and students, the successes and challenges of implementing community-building circles with attention to equity and inclusion. Authors found that both teachers and students experience these practices as transformative when enough trust is established to share openly; however, more training is necessary for this to be consistent across schools and classrooms. Considering the lack of discussion of implicit bias and cultural responsiveness embedded in the restorative practice trainings these teachers received, authors argue that social work professionals and concepts—namely, empowerment theory—can support teacher training and implementation of community-building circles.

Abstract:
AbstractTechnology for psychiatric prevention is poorly developed, and knowledge about the causes of mental Illness is difficult to apply to practical preventive work. As it would take many years before the effects of primary preventive efforts would be visible, secondary and tertiary prevention are essential to reducing the prevalence of mental illness. Recent studies on reducing the negative health consequences of acute stress seem to justify some optimism that psychosocially-oriented prevention is possible. Experience with the preventive benefits of social support at times of crisis suggests that active social support can prevent social disintegration at the community level and mental health problems for individuals.

Abstract:
Rapid social change due to the emigration and development of new towns, has weakened parental bonds and the social support networks of families and clans. These changes may lead to an immense increase in teenage drug abuse and suicide. The drug dependence of teenagers is not simply a result of curiosity, but a reflection of stress management in the form of escape from reality. This paper gives an account of the stages of adolescent drug dependence, and the levels of intervention where social work practitioners can play a more active role in drug prevention. Strategies related to primary, secondary and tertiary prevention are discussed.

Abstract:
The article is devoted to a topical issue – prevention of alcoholism among children, families and youth. The authors reveal on the basis of a theoretical analysis of the regulatory framework of Ukraine and international documents on the problem of alcoholism prevention measures that have been taken and implemented in the daily life of Ukrainians. In their article, the authors allocate new resources for such work among social prevention with children, youth, families. The authors propose a 3-level system of social prevention of alcoholism, which shows the purpose and group of effects for each level. This is primary, secondary, tertiary social prevention. Primary social prevention requires information work among children, youth and their families. Secondary social prevention is dedicated to risk groups for alcoholism. Tertiary social prevention is aimed at working with those who already have this negative habit and their family members. For the first time in the theory of social work scientific approaches to social prevention of alcoholism among children, young people and their families are allocated: environmental, social-educational, system, resource. This allowed the authors to identify new resources for social prevention of alcoholism among children, young people and their families in the form of: work with micro- and macro-environment, preventive education of schoolchildren and teaching their life skills in secondary education, systematic social work with families of alcoholics, family strengthening techniques, motivation to deprive this negative habit. Prospects for further research are: development of a curriculum for life skills of students in grades 1-11, preventive education for alcoholism, the state program for the prevention of alcoholism, parental lectures on alcoholism.

AbstractObjective:Suicide is a serious public health issue that affects individuals, families and societies all over the world. International studies provide consistent evidence that the presence of psychiatrists in a region is associated with lesser suicide rates. However, many psychiatric patients including suicidal patients do not have access to psychiatrists. This indicates that mental health and non-mental health social workers need to be involved in suicide prevention efforts. This paper is the first comprehensive work that discusses how to increase the role of social workers in the area of suicide prevention. Methods:A review of the relevant literature. Results:Increasing the role of social workers in suicide prevention efforts may reduce suicide risk in groups and people at elevated risk for suicide, as well as the general population. Conclusion:Recommendations are provided for how the social work profession can improve upon suicide prevention while incorporating universal, selective and indicated suicide preventive interventions. Social work research efforts should focus on how to increase the role of social workers in suicide prevention and the management of suicidal patients. Social work education programmes should modify their curricula and increase their attention on suicide prevention. Mental health social workers need to educate the patient and their family on suicide risk factors. Furthermore, mental health and non-mental health social workers need to educate the general public on suicide risk factors.

Abstract:
Research indicates substance use initiation increases the risk of other youth problem behaviors and substance dependence. Preventing these problematic behaviors through parenting has the potential for avoiding deleterious consequences for youth, their families, and the community. Purpose: This systematic review provides an assessment of parent-focused preventive interventions that are effective in preventing early substance use (SU) and other problem behaviors among youth. Method: A systematic search following Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines was conducted to identify prevention studies. Studies were then assessed utilizing the Society for Prevention Research (SPR) efficacy criteria. Results: Ten studies, utilizing 11 preventive interventions, met all inclusion criteria. Discussion: The efficacious interventions emphasized parent skills training and engagement, were school-based, and utilized multiple prevention strategies. The Strengthening Families Program met the most SPR efficacy criteria. This review suggests parenting interventions are effective at preventing early youth SU and other problem behaviors. Implications for social work practice are discussed.

Abstract:
Introduction: The world today is characterized by the globalization of processes affecting social development. The globalization of preventive work today necessarily involves inter-sectorial interaction. Such a huge work with the preventive aim allows to comprehensively influencing the positive effect on the prevention of negative manifestations in the health of both human and the whole population. That means, that we can talk about a preventive strategy, which should be inherent in total character. The Public Health Service should have a state approach. Many countries confirmed this, such as: USA, Sweden, France, Germany, Great Britain, etc. Prevention, in the broadest sense of the word, must take place, of course, both at the local level and at the interregionale one, and if we talk about a global approach, then we also can speak about the international level. The economic effect of such work is clearly demonstrated as a consequence of prophylactic programs on infectious diseases. The aim of this article is to justify the economic effectiveness of the prevention of non-communicable diseases and to determine the criteria for calculating the economic forecast. Materials and methods: The research was conducted with the help of theoretical and statistical methods, by studying scientific sources and systematic analysis and generalization of the experience of finding economic efficiency of preventive measures for non-communicable diseases. Review and conclusions: The analysis of the considered methods of economic evaluation of preventive measures of non-infectious diseases made it possible to draw the following conclusions, the effectiveness of the health care system and individual treatment and prevention institutions should be considered in a complex way from the point of view of medical, social and economic efficiency. Economic efficiency, as a rule, is the result of medical and social efficiency. When calculating the cost-effectiveness of treatment and prevention measures, the whole complex of losses and costs associated with illnesses should be taken into account, in particular: direct costs directly related to prevention and treatment; Indirect losses associated with the illness, due to the unprocessed part of the gross domestic product, paid by sick leave letters.

Abstract:
The article reveals the features of corruption prevention in institutions and bodies of the Penal system (hereinafter referred to as the PS). Attention is focused on the need to strengthen preventive work in the process of creating an environment for preventing corruption-related offenses in the Penal system. The authors attempt to specify and systematize the state of preventive work at various levels of official activity and propose a system of principles for the prevention of corruption-related offenses. The anti-corruption environment is considered as the basis of preventive work. It is concluded that according to the parameters of its development, the penitentiary society in Russia has already come to the need for key and systematic work on the prevention and precaution of corruption in the penitentiary system. In this direction, it is very important to use all the available opportunities of both social and technical sciences. Prevention should be based on specialized knowledge in public service and management, social development, and psychology. The study suggested effective measures operational and organizational work for prevention of considered offences, such as regular analysis of practice of application by courts of anti-corruption legislation (within the framework of service training); introduction of personnel reviews; spiritual and moral education, based on continuity, the good foundations and traditions; raising the level of professional sense of justice.

Abstract:
The fight against crimes of a terrorist nature is a task of international importance. Modern penitentiary systems in various countries were not ready for effective work aimed at preventing international terrorist threat. Persons convicted of committing terrorist crimes are currently serving their sentences in non-specialized correctional institutions that do not involve targeted counter-terrorism preventive measures with convicts. On the contrary, representatives of Islamic terrorist organizations are actively using the prison environment to propagate pseudo-religious ideas that encourage terrorism. One of the few attempts to prevent Islamist terrorism among people suspected or convicted of terrorist crimes was made by the US leadership at the beginning of the XXI century. The American penitentiary experience shows that the use of purely punitive methods of correcting a criminal terrorist does not guarantee the convict’s refusal to carry out terrorist activities. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a model of a special type of penitentiary institution aimed at providing an effective prevention of terrorist activity and suppressing the recruitment of new participants to terrorist organizations. The main preventive measures to use in this type of correctional institution should be the separate maintenance of convicts representatives of various social groups, as well as educational and religious activities explaining the true social values observed both by Islam and other world religions.

Abstract:
(1) Background: The COVID-19 pandemic poses substantial threats to Latinx farmworkers and other immigrants in food production and processing. Classified as essential, such workers cannot shelter at home. Therefore, knowledge and preventive behaviors are important to reduce COVID-19 spread in the community. (2) Methods: Respondents for 67 families with at least one farmworker (FWF) and 38 comparable families with no farmworkers (nonFWF) in North Carolina completed a telephone survey in May 2020. The survey queried knowledge of COVID-19, perceptions of its severity, self-efficacy, and preventive behaviors. Detailed data were collected to document household members’ social interaction and use of face coverings. (3) Results: Knowledge of COVID-19 and prevention methods was high in both groups, as was its perceived severity. NonFWF had higher self-efficacy for preventing infection. Both groups claimed to practice preventive behaviors, though FWF emphasized social avoidance and nonFWF emphasized personal hygiene. Detailed social interactions showed high rates of inter-personal contact at home, at work, and in the community with more mask use in nonFWF than FWF. (4) Conclusions: Despite high levels of knowledge and perceived severity for COVID-19, these immigrant families were engaged in frequent interpersonal contact that could expose community members and themselves to COVID-19.

Abstract:
Juvenile delinquency poses a constant social challenge to the public. Juvenile delinquency can be defined as a repeated social disorder among children or adolescents. In this regard, human behaviour and the environment are linked to each other. Hence, the distortion of one aspect will definitely affect the latter. This article presents a comprehensive intervention where the integrated social work approach was applied to deal with juvenile delinquency. The integrated social work approach has become a framework for social work as it focuses on both the individuals and the environment. This framework has been applied to reduce the gap between individuals and their environments, and it is very important for social work intervention. Since the nature of this framework encompasses several different professions, it has become beneficial for social workers to deliver a multi-context intervention and assessment that is based on the preventive, rehabilitative, and development perspectives, especially in the case of juvenile delinquency. The implementation of an integrated social work framework in the line of a social worker’s profession could bring advantages in terms of pinpointing the cause of the problems. Finally, social workers will be able to address juvenile delinquency problems through appropriate techniques.

Abstract:
The article describes the system of formation of professional competencies of specialists who carry out their work in the field of prevention of social risks of minors. The components of this system and pedagogical conditions for the formation of preventive competence are also described. The need to develop competencies in the field of preventive activities is associated with the contradictions between the need for objects of preventive work and the availability of professional capabilities of specialists. These contradictions were identified in the course of specially conducted opinion polls. The existing methods and means for the formation and development of the above competencies — due to the presence of contradictions — are not sufficiently effective. In this regard, the article pays special attention to describing such a method of developing professional preventive competencies as an internship platform. It also provides a description of the application of innovative preventive practices using modern digital technologies in the framework of the internship site.

Abstract:
We examine the question of prevention of crimes committed by persons with negative changes in the psyche. The relevance of the topic is confirmed by the fact that in modern conditions, preventive activities against crimes of persons with mental disabilities has acquired high importance and has become the main concept of general and forensic psychiatry, but the lack of scientific research on the prevention of crimes committed by persons with mental disorders, has a negative impact on the fight against crime. The effectiveness of the fight against crime largely depends on organizational and methodological prerequisites. Prevention of crimes committed by persons with negative changes in mental activity has an integrative nature and is possible only with the comprehensive development of tactical methods of preventive measures, criminological methods of prevention of crimes committed by persons and the development on this basis of practical recommendations to improve preventive activities. Prevention consists of two main areas: socially oriented and biologically based measures. We propose to emphasize the special field of prophylaxis and prevention measures against crimes – socio-psychiatric prophylaxis, justifying it by the fact, that prophylaxis is a complex measure. We draw a conclusion that it is possible to ensure sustainable and effective preventive work only with the coordinated mutual work of doctors and law enforcement officers, first of all, the internal affairs bodies, as well as social workers.

Abstract:
The article deals with the experience of the Kalininsky District Court of Chelyabinsk on the prevention of juvenile delinquency. It is noted that for effective prevention of relapse among juvenile offenders it is not enough only to confess guilt, to apologize to the victim, to compensate for the damage caused. Prevention of juvenile delinquency should be a complex system of interacting services and departments, as well as forms and methods of work aimed at: identifying and neutralizing adverse social conditions that adversely affect the adolescent's psyche; identification of adolescents falling into "risk groups", carrying out preventive and corrective work with them. A complex of preventive measures implemented in the practice of the court is of a combined nature. Restorative procedures are applied in the form of mediation, which is aimed at restoring the situation, admission of guilt by the person guilty of forming a readiness to make amends for the harm done and "cure" the victim. For the psychological rehabilitation of the offender, we use a rehabilitation approach. More than 90% of the examined minors whose criminal records were referred to the court had a mental trauma caused by the loss of one of the parents (divorce or death of one of them). Procedures for rehabilitation are in the work with child psychic trauma, which, violating the integrity of the "personality-subject" system, is a predictor of criminal behavior. As a result, for the period from 2015 to 2017. among minors who have gone through the mediation and therapy of child psychiatric trauma, to date, there has not been a single case of relapse.

Abstract The cumulative effects of chronic work-related stress pervasively and persistently affect the well-being of the human services workforce. As a preventive measure, the ongoing commitment to self-care strategies and resources is essential in maintaining a healthy and resilient professional quality of life. This article describes a holistic approach to cultivating professional resilience through the ongoing practice of self-care. A model for self-care using an ecological systems framework with activities across the biological, interpersonal, organizational, familial, peer-related, spiritual, and recreational aspects of the biopsychosocial self is proposed. Within this model, emphasis is placed on the role of compassion satisfaction and vicarious resilience as key components to fostering meaningful and rewarding careers for social workers.

This paper reports on a teaching experiment in which social work students (n=38) practiced problem solving through argumentative tasks. A teaching experiment was carried out at a Mikkeli University of Applied Sciences in Finland in connection with a course concerning preventative work against alcohol- and drug abuse. This quasi- experimental study investigated whether role-play simulation conducted either online (15 students) or face-to-face (14 students) improved students’ problem solving on social issues. As a pre-test, the students wrote an essay after having watched a dramatization of problematic cases on elderly people’s use of alcohol. The students also attended lectures (30 x 45 min) on the effect of substance abuse and preventive work, and after the role-play simulation they wrote another essay (post-test). Nine controls wrote an essay without participating in the role-play simulation. Lastly, the students filled out feedback questionnaires.

Abstract:
In modern conditions of the systemic transformation of the Belarusian society, which is developing very slowly and contradictory, despite the steady trend of reducing crime, drunkenness, drug addiction and other negative social deviations, the problem of preventing and combating antisocial phenomena continues to be complex and cause serious public concern. In this regard, the relevance and social significance of empirical studies of antisocial phenomena, their dynamics, the specifics of distribution and determination, the study of the current national legislation and social practice of the state criminological and other antideviant policies are growing. Problems of prevention and counteraction to anti-social phenomena have long attracted the attention of criminologists, sociologists, culturologists, teachers, psychologists and other researchers. However, each historical period of time brings many new circumstances that have an impact on the sociopathic situation. In addition, the persistently high level of antisocial behavior in society in different socio-demographic groups of the population indicates the presence of obvious gaps in the scientific knowledge of this problem, especially in the field of genesis and determination of negative social deviations as well as the lack of effectiveness of the forms and methods of preventive work of social actors, such as law enforcement and other public administration bodies, the family as a social institution, public associations, etc. The author carries out theoretical and applied design of an innovative system of social prevention of antisocial phenomena based on the analysis of statistical data and sociological research. It includes a set of general, special and individual measures of social, victimological and sociopathic, socio-reintegration and legal preventive activities that should be systematically implemented at the social, situational, personality-deviant, personality-victim and personality-socio-interactive levels of social subjectivity. The researcher pays special attention to the state, dynamics and peculiarities of the etiology of the alcohol and drug situation in the country. The authors propose a set of specific social and practical measures to improve the prevention of alcoholism and drug addiction which have a negative impact on the sustainable development of modern Belarusian society.
