Facial appearance changes as people talk, move and, change expression. The key indication of this change is the skin color. In current appearance models skin color is reconstructed by considering the scattering and absorption of light within skin layers caused by melanin and hemoglobin in a three dimensional color space. Data-driven methods—such as the estimation of primaries by sparse inversion suffer from the 'curse of dimensionality’ that leads to disproportional growth in computational and storage demands when moving to realistic 3D field data. To remove this fundamental impediment, we propose a dimensionality-reduction technique where the 'data matrix' is approximated adaptively by a randomized low-rank factorization. Numerical simulations presented here show that demagnetization of crust near the largest Martian basins by secondary impacts can be comparable to that by direct shock waves outside the transient cavity. The relative input from secondary impacts, which demagnetize only the uppermost layers, depends on the magnetic carrier distribution within the crust. Thus, we discuss properties of likely magnetic remanence carriers and their possible spatial distribution within the crust.

Curcumin, a constituent of the spice turmeric, is a potent antioxidant with chemopreventive properties in several rodent models of carcinogenesis. In animal models of inherited colorectal cancer dietary curcumin reduced the levels of malondialdehyde-DNA (MiG) adduct, which reflects oxidative DNA changes, and reduced adenoma burden. Hillary Clinton faced gendered discrimination by news media sources during her presidential campaign in 2008. However, there is almost no research concerning the ways Clinton was portrayed on political blogs. Because blogs typically attract consumers who have similar ideologies, this paper explores if Clinton faced more gender bias on conservative blogs than liberal blogs, utilizing two well-established political blogs. Specifically it looks at three biases that exist in traditional sources of news media: appearance-based discrimination, an emphasis on domesticity, and analyses of femininity.
