Humans have a tendency to engage in economically irrational behaviors such as gambling, which typically leads to long-term financial losses. While there has been much research on human gambling behavior, relatively little work has been done to explore the evolutionary origins of this behavior. The host restriction factor TRIM5α mediates a post-entry, pre-integration block to retroviral infection that depends upon recognition of the viral capsid by the TRIM5α PRYSPRY domain. The two predominant alleles of rhesus macaque TRIM5α (rhTRIM5αQ and rhTRIM5αTFP) restrict HIV 1, but cannot restrict the macaque-adapted virus SIVmac239. The first phenomenon was neurons with head-centered visual receptive fields, in which a neuron responds maximally to a visual stimulus in the same head-centered location across all eye positions. This study is based in Tana River National Primate Reserve (TRNPR), Kenya. The reserve, established in 1976 to protect remnant patches of riverine forests from increasing human pressure is home to two endemic endangered primate subspecies, Tana River Red colobus (Colobus badius rufomitratus) and Tana River Crested mangabey (Cercocebus galeritus galeritus).
