Abstract:
Examples of these standards are the PMBOK Guide and PRINCE2 method. In this paper it is made a comparative analysis of the PMBOK Guide in relation to PRINCE2 structured method, based on the assessment of different literature sources. During the course of the investigation different theoretical elements of both PMBOK and PRINCE2 were analyzed, such as the origin, evolution, structure and application, allowing the identification of similarities and differences between them. The result of this research reveals that these standards are not considered mutually exclusive and that can coexist on the same project. PRINCE2 determines what, how, when and by whom the activities will be implemented using a common language easily assimilated and PMBOK is an international reference guide that incorporates a wide range of knowledge about project management.PMBOK e PRINCE2, semelhanças e diferençasRESUMO Existem diferentes padrões focados em gerenciamento de projetos. Abstract:
This thesis deals with the subject of project management, primarily from the viewpoint of the development of a tool for project management support using the PRINCE2 methodology and the Unicorn Universe information system. The subject of the theoretical part is the definition of a project and project management and a description and a comparison of the most widely used project management standards, PRINCE2, PMI and IPMA. Subsequently, the emphasis is put on a detailed description of PRINCE2 with regard to its use in the next parts of the work. At the end of the theoretical part of the thesis the chapters are devoted to Unicorn Universe and to Unicorn Enterprise System Powered Company, which is a methodology used for company management. In the practical part, the author followed the recommended 4-phases process of the development of a new methodology set defined by the UESPC methodology; inception, elaboration, construction and transition. By means of the analysis in inception and elaboration stages and creation of A4 and High Level Concept documents, which describe specific ways how to implement various elements of PRINCE2into the Unicorn Universe, and the subsequent production of project management tool prototype, the author worked his way up to the construction stage, in which he designed and created definitions of meta artifacts and scripts for their later implementation in the final phase, called transition. In this phase metaartifacts were set up. They are templates for management and control artifacts and for other items necessary for the production of the methodological set, a final product of the thesis. At the end of thesis, the automation scripts, as proposed in the previous stage to verify the practical use of the thesis product, were assigned for implementation.

Abstract:
Software development projects often fail. Recently the agile software development frameworks have been massively adopted and used to overcome the root causes of the project failure. The use of the agile frameworks results in the more successful delivery of smaller software development projects. Companies however implemented in the past many generic project management frameworks and still use them to manage the full portfolio of their projects especially the medium and large software development projects. In such cases the agile development teams are organized in projects that are managed by project managers according to these generic project management frameworks. Both these frameworks must be analysed and tailored carefully to be successfully applied together. The objective of this dissertation thesis is to design the agile software development project management framework based on PRINCE2 and Scrum frameworks. The benefits of this new framework are the enrichment of the simple agile framework Scrum by project management elements and the enrichment of the generic project management framework PRINCE2 by the agile principles and agile team management practices. The first part of the thesis is focused on the analysis of project management and agile development frameworks. The main focus is on the current usage, the measurement of the project success and the identification of problems that the projects face to. Prior to the design of the new framework the research was executed in the global company to discover the specific problems in software development projects and to measure the actual project success rate. The framework is then designed in the next part. The framework was successfully implemented in the same global company and the project success rate was again analysed. The result is positive and the implementation of this framework resulted in the improved project success rate. Also two additional case studies were conducted to check the viability of the designed framework.

Abstract:
Thesis (MAcc (Accountancy))--University of Stellenbosch, 2007.
The successful implementation of an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System can help an organisation to redefine its business processes and enhance its competitive advantage. An ERP System Implementation is a transformation project, which changes the way an organisation thinks and acts about its business. An ERP System implementation is also a complex endeavour, and as such, it requires rigorous risk management. The understanding and management of risks relevant to ERP System Implementation Projects are critical in order to ensure that the project delivers on its objectives within the specified budget and timelines, and eventually realises the envisaged business benefits. The purpose of this study is to discuss how key risks relevant to ERP System Implementation Projects could be addressed by applying project management disciplines derived from the PRINCE2 (PRojects IN Controlled Environment) project management methodology. This methodology was developed by the Office of Government Commerce in the United Kingdom. This study also provides a framework that could be applied at the outset and during an ERP System Implementation Project by business management, to understand the risks (“what could go wrong?”) and project management disciplines that should be applied to address these risks (“what must go right?”). This framework was derived by: • Identifying key risks relevant to ERP System Implementation Projects; • Mapping these key risks onto SAP Implementation phases to highlight where these risks could materialise in the SAP Implementation process; • Then mapping these key risks across PRINCE2 project management processes and SAP Implementation phases by creating the SAP Implementation Key Risks Map; and finally • Providing a detailed description of how to apply PRINCE2 project management disciplines to address each risk in the SAP Implementation Key Risks Map.

Abstract:
Digital Light Processing (DLP) 3D printing allows for the creation of parts with advanced engineering materials and geometries difficult to produce through conventional manufacturing techniques. Photosensitive resin monomers are activated with a UV-producing LCD screen to polymerize, layer by layer, forming the desired part. With the right mixture of photosensitive resin and advanced engineering powder material, useful engineering-grade parts can be produced. The Bison 1000 is a research-grade DLP printer that permits the user to change many parameters, in order to discover an optimal method for producing 3D parts of any material of interest. In this presentation, the process parameter optimization and their influence on the 3D printed parts through DLP technique will be discussed. The presentation is focused on developing 3D printable slurry, printing of complex ceramic lattice structures, as well as post heat treatment of these DLP-produced parts.
