Full textWe studied in this thesis the properties of existence and regularity for various nonlinear partial differential equations of elliptic type. We proved the existence of weak solutions to certain problems involving the p-Laplacian operator using critical point theory and the mountain pass theorem . We have also showed the existence of viscosity solutions for singular equations involving fully nonlinear operators

Full textThe main aim of this thesis is to study large time behavior of unbounded solutions of viscous Hamilton-Jacobi equations in RN in presence of an Ornstein-Uhlenbeck drift. We also consider the same issue for a first order Hamilton-Jacobi equation. In the first case, which is the core of the thesis, we generalize the results obtained by Fujita, Ishii and Loreti (2006) in several directions. The first one is to consider more general operators. We first replace the Laplacian by a general diffusion matrix and then consider a non-local integro-differential operator of fractional Laplacian type. The second kind of extension is to deal with more general Hamiltonians which are merely sublinear

Full textFinally, this constructive approach that proceeds from the lower level of the individual contribution of the experimental units to the global level of the population is applied to sample size determination for comparative studies when, in the compared groups, there is attrition due to noncompliance to the specific regimen. This attrition reduces the apparent treatment effect in the analysis. This presentation constitutes a foundation for a more general and elegant solution to the problem.

Full textThe thesis is concerned with two topics: backward stochastic partial differential equations and mean filed games. In the first part, we establish a maximum principle for quasi-linear reflected backward stochastic partial differential equations (RBSPDEs) on a general domain by using a stochastic version of De Giorgi’s iteration. The maximum principle for RBSPDEs on a bounded domain and the maximum principle for BSPDEs on a general domain are obtained as byproducts. Finally, the local behavior of the weak solutions is considered. In the second part, we first establish the existence of equilibria to mean field games (MFGs) with singular controls. We also prove that the solutions to MFGs with no terminal cost and no cost from singular controls can be approximated by the solutions, respectively control rules, for MFGs with purely regular controls. Our existence and approximation results strongly hinge on the use of the Skorokhod M1 topology on the space of càdlàg functions. Subsequently, we consider an MFG of optimal portfolio liquidation under asymmetric information. We prove that the solution to the MFG can be characterized in terms of a forward backward stochastic differential equation (FBSDE) with possibly singular terminal condition on the backward component or, equivalently, in terms of an FBSDE with finite terminal value, yet singular driver. We apply the fixed point argument to prove the existence and uniqueness on a short time horizon in a weighted space. Our existence and uniqueness result allows to prove that our MFG can be approximated by a sequence of MFGs without state constraint. The final result of the second part is a leader follower MFG with terminal constraint arising from optimal portfolio liquidation between hierarchical agents. We show the problems for both follower and leader reduce to the solvability of singular FBSDEs, which can be solved by a modified approach of the previous result.

Full textThis paper is devoted to the study of pulsating travelling fronts for reaction-diffusion-advection equations in infinite cylinders with time-periodic diffusion and advection coefficients. Existence of a unique propagation speed and unicity up to translation of a pulsating travelling wave solution is proved for combustion-type reaction term. For a positive reaction-term, we prove the existence of a semifinite interval of possible propagation speeds. We derive a variationnal formula for the minimal speed for KPP-type nonlinearities. Continuity with respect to the period and estimates for the minimal speed are also derived

Full textThe aim of this work is the study of the existence of weak solutions for an elliptic system defined on the whole space. The operators are Schrödinger operators with positive potentials which are tending to infinity at infinity. First we recall results concerning the maximum principle and the existence of a solution for one equation. Then, we study the behaviour of the solutions at infinity. For a cooperative system with constant or bounded coefficients, we study the maximum principle and the existence of a solution by using the Lax-Milgram theorem. We obtain the existence of a solution for a semi-linear system by using the sub and super solutions method and by using the Schauder fixed point theorem. We also study the existence of a solution for a system without the cooperative assumption

Full textIn this thesis, we study the properties of the paths of random fields. More precisely, we are interested in the distribution of the maximum of stationary centered Gaussian field and the volume of the excursion set (sojourn time). We extend slightly the "record method" in dimension 2 and develop it in dimension 3 to give an upper bound for the tail of the distribution of the maximum. We also give an asymptotic formula for this tail in dimension 2. There is a correspondence between the asymptotic formula and the coefficients of the Steiner formula of the domain considered. This can be viewed as an extension of some results of Adler. We study the rate of convergence of the central limit theorems of the sojourn time in both cases: fixed and moving level

Full textThis thesis is devoted to a quasilinear parabolic equation in which the diffusion is defined by the length of different non local interactions. As regards stationary problem, having shown the results of existence, uniqueness and continuity. We introduce a general criterion of inversibility later depending on parameter, this very important criterion is going to allow us in example of application to find well known results when parameter will be equal to the diameter of domain. We give then a fundamental result of comparison of solutions in the case of radial symmetrical solutions and a general implementation of count of solutions. Finally we give some numerical applications using a method of fixed point and Newton’s method to illustrate these results. As regards parabolic problem having shown existence of global attractor associated to our problem, we show an estimate L∞ of solution according to estimate Lq, q >1 by using Moser’s iteration

Full textThe aim of this work is to study multiobjective optimization problems with or without dynamics and the generalized Bolza problem and its applications. After having pointed out some concepts of nonsmooth analysis, we begin the first part of this thesis with the existence of Lagrange multipliers for multiobjective optimization problems in infinite dimension with a general preference. We introduce the regularity of preference and use calmness qualification condition we establish the existence of Karush-Kuhn-Tucker multipliers. This allows us to obtain Fritz-John multipliers in terms of the approximate subdifferential by Ioffe. Then we derive similar results when the preference is defined by a convex cone or by an utility function. The second part deals with generalized Bolza problem. We establish necessary optimality conditions in terms of limiting Fréchet subdifferential without convexity assumptions. This result enables us to obtain the results by Vinter-Zheng and Ioffe-Rockafellar and to establish maximum principle including a new Euler-Lagrange inclusion. We apply this last one to isoperimetric problems, to the general Ramsey model of economic growth and to a chemical engineering problem. Using the notion of preference of the first part and the results of the second part we establish in the third part necessary optimality conditions and Hamiltonian conditions to multiobjective dynamic optimization. We give similar results in the case of a preference defined by a convex cone or an utility function

This thesis consists of two results. The first result is a strong maximum principle for certain parabolic systems of equations, which, for illustrative purposes, I consider as reaction-diffusion systems. Using the theory of viscosity solutions, I give a proof which extends the previous theorem to no longer require any regularity assumptions on the boundary of the convex set in which the system takes its values. The second result is an approximation scheme for reflected stochastic differential equations (SDE) of the Stratonovich type. This is a joint result with Professor Daniel W. Stroock. We show that the distribution of the solution to such a reflected SDE is the weak limit of the distribution of the solutions of the reflected SDEs one gets by replacing the driving Brownian motion by its N-dyadic linear interpolation. In particular, we can infer geometric properties of the solutions to a Stratonovich reflected SDE from those of the solutions to the approximating reflected SDE.
