Abstract:
The different types of repetitions in poetic texts of N. Rubtsov are investigated in the article, their semantic and functional features are set. The cases of root lexical repetition, methods of syntactic organization of repetitive elements (parallelism, anaphoric constructions) are analysed. The refrain and framing (inclusion) are examined as the special elements in the structure of text, their role in expression of maintenance of text and stylistic functions come to light. It was set as a result of analysis that according to the poet repetition becomes the fundamental principle of structural and semantic organization of text, one of the tools of subjective modality creation, of the authors attitude to the content, meaningful means of expressiveness, creating the special unique style of writer and emotional expression in artistic text.

Abstract:
Qur’an is the main source of Islamic Education or Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI) teaching materials. In the Qur'an, there are various stories repetitions that are presented well. Repeating the story allegedly has a close relationship with Islamic education learning strategy. The purpose of this study is to provide an understanding that the repetition of stories in the Qur'an can be used as a learning strategy for Islamic religious material. This library research used qualitative data. The data is in the form of primary sources, such as ‘Psikologi Kisah dalam Al-Qur’an’ book The data that had been tested were then analyzed using the content analysis approach of repetition story as PAI learning strategy. The results showed that the concept of stories repetition in the Qur’an is very relevant to be used as PAI learning strategy. The results of the study showed that the story repetition concept in the Qur'an is very relevant to the Islamic education learning strategy. These stories become part of an effective and efficient learning strategy in equipping students with various Islamic studies. The repetition taught by Allah in the Qur'an and prophet in Hadith is one of learning principles. The principle of repetition in learning should be implemented in the Islamic education. So, all methods applied in learning must use repetition.

Abstract:
Abstract Repetition appears purposefully within Book of Mormon narratives as a principle of reinforcement and confirmation. It seems that every important action, event, or character is repeated in the Book of Mormon. These repetitions emphasize the law of witnesses at work within the book (e.g., "in the mouth of three witnesses shall these things be established"; Ether 5:4). Further, they underscore the relevance of one character or action to people living in a different time, and they link narratives together with what Robert Alter calls "type-scenes." Analyzed in detail as particularly striking are three-fold repetitions in Nephi’s task to retrieve the brass plates and repetition of the word power in the missionary endeavor of the sons of Mosiah. Larger repeated narratives treat escape and travel to a promised land; repentance; and the nature, rise, and effect of secret combinations.

Abstract:
The study aimed to find out the degree of availability of the principles of the Global Forum for Youth, Peace and Security in the national and civic education textbooks for the tenth grade in Jordan. The results of the analysis showed that the principles of the outputs of the Global Forum for Youth, Peace and Security came in a different way, as the fifth principle was the entry point for preparing youth, peace and security programs (32), followed by the first principle: strategic priorities for youth, peace and security, and theories of changing assessment based on youth, peace and security information, with repetition (24). Then the fourth principle was followed by assessment based on youth, peace and security information, and by repetition (23). In light of the results, the researchers recommended the need to adopt the principles of the Global Forum for Youth, Peace and Security in the proposed national and civic education textbooks and their indicators to be one of the reference documents for the development and enrichment of detective documents to ensure the integration of the principles of the World Youth Foru, Peace and security in its various dimensions in the Jordanian curricula, in light of the results, includes the principles of the Forum in the national education textbooks and in the tenth grade textbook in a balanced way.

The aim of this paper is to provide a close reading of Deleuze's complex account of Freud's Beyond the Pleasure Principle in Difference and Repetition. The first part provides a reading of Beyond the Pleasure Principle itself, showing why Freud feels the need to develop a transcendental account of repetition. In the second, I show the limitations of Freud's account, drawing on the work of Weismann to argue that Freud's transcendental model mischaracterises repetition. In the third part, I show how Freud's account of the death drive is shadowed by Deleuze's own non-representational transcendental account.

Abstract:
Students who fail to achieve in school are frequently retained in grade to remediate their lack of satisfactory progress. In this study, elementary school principals, kindergarten, and first grade teachers were interviewed to explore their perceptions of the decision making processes used in recommending retention. The belief systems which underlie their reliance on retention as a remedial option were also examined. Three research questions were addressed: 1. What is the relationship between the written retention policy of a selected school district and the actual decision making process used by its schools? 2. What are the influences by district socio-economic level which impact the decision making process used in student retention? 3. What are the perceptions across district socioeconomic level of teachers and principals regarding the use of retention as an intervention for students? Some additional questions related to the three research questions were also explored in the study. The primary method of data collection consisted of interviews with nine participants. In addition, principals, kindergarten, and first grade teachers from 12 schools, representing three socio-economic levels, were surveyed. Data were integrated to develop a more complete narrative of retention practice as perceived by these practitioners. The results of this study indicate several factors influence retention decision making and practice: 1. expectations of other teachers 2. pressure of curriculum standards 3. the availability of alternatives 4. the perceived needs of students 5. the belief systems of teachers 6. knowledge of retention research. Recommendations are presented for encouraging practice more aligned with current research and to assist district policy makers in developing alternatives for retention. The research suggests that future study be conducted to further explore teacher belief systems underlying retention practice.

Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to investigate the most common phonetic and phonological difficulties in the teaching of Spanish as a foreign language. The study has been based on the following questions: Which difficulties can teachers encounter when teaching phonetics and phonology? Which difficulties can students encounter when learning phonetics and phonology? How is phonetics and phonology taught? In order to be able to investigate the difficulties, a questionnaire has been handed out to five experienced teachers. The results of the questionnaires, together with the theory, has been analysed in the analysis. The outcome of the analysis shows that several difficulties can be detected in both the teaching and in the learning process. The results of the questionnaires also show us that the teachers mostly teach phonetics the same way: through repetition and imitation, the conductive method, and very few think outside of the box to encounter new methods.

Abstract:
This dissertation deals with the use of Shewhart control charts, modified to have variable sampling intervals, to simultaneously monitor a set of parameters. Fixed sampling interval control charts are modified to utilize sampling intervals that vary depending on what is being observed from the data. Two problems are emphasized, namely, the simultaneous monitoring of the mean and the variance and the simultaneous monitoring of several means. For each problem, two basic strategies are investigated. One strategy uses separate control charts for each parameter. A second strategy uses a single statistic which combines the information in the entire sample and is sensitive to shifts in any of the parameters. Several variations on these two basic strategies are studied. Numerical studies investigate the optimal number of sampling intervals and the length of the sampling intervals to be used. Each procedure is compared to corresponding fixed interval procedures in terms of time and the number of samples taken to signal. The effect of correlation on multiple means charts is studied through simulation. For both problems, it is seen that the variable sampling interval approach is substantially more efficient than fixed interval procedures, no matter which strategy is used.<br>Ph. D.

Controllers with integral, resonant and repetitive terms are examples of this principle. However, the control systems are subject to physical limitations that restrict their operation under certain conditions. The amplitude saturation of the control action is the most common type of restriction found in real systems. The impacts of the saturation of control action are known as windup and its consequences for systems with integral action have already been exhaustive examined. However, the impacts of saturation of control action are not restricted to this type of controller. Other controllers based on the internal model principle are also affected by the windup phenomenon due to saturation of the action control. The impacts of the windup phenomenon for resonant, multi-resonant and repetitive controllers are investigated in this dissertation and an anti-windup technique is suggested to mitigate the impacts of the control saturation on these controllers. The proposed anti-windup technique is based on the conditional integration technique, originally developed for the controllers with integral action, and it is named conditional update.

Abstract:
The following dissertation introduces the \"unconscious\" as an intrinsical matter of Gilles Deleuze\'s intellectual path. Having as a horizon \"Difference and Repetition\", which would answer, among others, the attempt of constructing a notion of the \"unconscious\" as an \"immanent field\", simultaneously with the critic of the traditional image of thought, it is shown how this project was already being developt on his monographic studies about Hume, Bergson, Nietzsche, Proust and Sacher-Masoch. Together with the \"unconscious\" issue as a field, Deleuze thinks both the temporal and the constitutional of the subject, or of the unpersonal individualizations, processes from the repetition, major ontological concept, through the description of syntheses operated by habit, memory, the eternal return and by the death instinct. Firstly introduced on Deleuze\'s monographys, \"Diference and Repetition\" reintroduces these synthesis as of the \"time\" or of the \"unconscious\", refunding a transcendental esthetics. Replace the \"unconscious\" problem giving it a positive ontological status, depends on it\'s dialogue with Freud\'s and Lacan\'s psychoanalysis and with the ontologies of the negative, which they were tributed to.

Dahan, Marianne. "Les tableaux homonymiques, principe d’unité du Cornet à dés de Max Jacob." Thèse, 2016. http://hdl.handle.net/1866/16113.

Full text
Abstract:
Upon reading this collection, one notices that things and events referring to the different definitions of the word “tableau” are repeatedly employed : paintings, visual descriptions, window and door frames, elders (vieux tableaux), living pictures (tableaux vivants), theater scenes and also blackboards. This dissertation, divided into three chapters, starts by exploring how these homonyms are employed as paintings in the poems. In-between fixity and movement, the descriptions and the narrations bring literature closer to pictorial art. This contributes to the aesthetic of doubt found in Max Jacob’s written work. The second chapter analyzes different kinds of repetitions and the way they build links between the poems. By employing the theories of movement and repetition, this dissertation demonstrates how the various motifs, similarly to a pair of dice, form different combinations from one poem to another. Inspired by the cubist painters who simultaneously show all the angles of an object, Jacob thoroughly examines the word “tableau”. In the last chapter, it becomes evident that the juxtaposition of the poems gives access to additional significance: certain arbitrary elements, such as obscure titles, suddenly make sense. A reflection on the act of reading concludes this dissertation, since the numerous repetitions are stored in the reader’s memory. This work falls within the field of collection studies and mainly relies on poetry analysis.

Abstract:
No<br>A review is carried out on the characterisation and algorithmic implementation of an extended product-form approximation, based on the principle of maximum entropy (ME), for a wide class of arbitrary finite capacity open queueing network models (QNMs) with service and space priorities. A single server finite capacity GE/GE/1/N queue with R (R>1) distinct priority classes, compound Poisson arrival processes (CPPs) with geometrically distributed batches and generalised exponential (GE) service times is analysed via entropy maximisation, subject to suitable GE-type queueing theoretic constraints, under preemptive resume (PR) and head-of-line (HOL) scheduling rules combined with complete buffer sharing (CBS) and partial buffer sharing (PBS) management schemes stipulating a sequence of buffer thresholds {N=(N1,¿,NR),0<Ni¿Ni¿1,i=2,¿,R}. The GE/GE/1/N queue is utilised, in conjunction with GE-type first two moment flow approximation formulae, as a cost-effective building block towards the establishment of a generic ME queue-by-queue decomposition algorithm for arbitrary open QNMs with space and service priorities under repetitive service blocking with random destination (RS-RD). Typical numerical results are included to illustrate the credibility of the ME algorithm against simulation for various network topologies and define experimentally pessimistic GE-type performance bounds. Remarks on the extensions of the ME algorithm to other types of blocking mechanisms, such as repetitive service blocking with fixed destination (RS-FD) and blocking-after-service (BAS), are included.

Abstract:
The textbook highlights the provisions of fundamental theories of social conflict, the results of the analysis of practical activities for its prevention and settlement, as well as the experience of previously prepared educational publications on this issue. The main directions, paradigms, concepts of the theory and practice of social conflict, their projections on the content of modern social relations are shown.&#x0D; The methodology of constructing the material of the educational publication is based on the use of a retrospective approach, which allowed us to outline the fundamental foundations of social conflict from a historical point of view and in the development of its characteristics over time. In addition, the principles of the well-known domestic theorist and practice of pedagogy V.F. Shatalov are applied, in particular, the repeated repetition of basic provisions, which ensures more effective memorization with less concentration of the student's attention.&#x0D; Meets the requirements of the federal state educational standards of higher education of the latest generation.&#x0D; It is addressed to teachers, students, undergraduates, postgraduates and doctoral students of higher educational institutions, and can also be used by practitioners in the field of information analytics and mediation.

Abstract:
Repetition, the Compulsion to Repeat, and the Death Drive is a critical examination of Freud’s uses of repetition as they lead to the compulsion to repeat and his infamous death drive. Like perhaps no other concept, repetition drove Freud to an understanding of human behavior through development of models of the human mind and a method of treating neurotic behavior. This book comprises three parts. Part I, “Some Early Uses of ‘Repetition’ in Psychoanalysis,” examines repetition both in clinical therapy and in Freud’s use of phylogenetic explanation. Part II, composed of three chapters, outlines Freud’s journey to his vaunted death drive, examines Beyond the Pleasure Principle, and analyzes Freud’s use of compulsion to repeat and the death drive post 1920. Last, Part III is a critical analysis of Freud on repetition and the death drive, discusses why Freud was so wedded to his controversial death drive, and what can be salvaged from Freud’s observations and speculations. Here readers will find that Holowchak, qua philosopher, and Lavin, qua clinician, have different answers when it comes to the death drive.

Abstract:
By examining variations in scale and techniques of expansion and contraction in Thucydides’ narrative, the essay identifies a mimetic principle in his writing—that the presentation of an episode in the work should normally be proportionate to its significance. Significance, however, is not measured by purely military factors. In fact, expansion is often an indicator of intense suffering, pathos. Among the techniques of expansion and compression discussed are allusions, superlatives, figures of speech (such as litotes), direct and indirect discourse, day-by-day narrative, enargeia (vividness) and thematic repetition (“reprise”). Many of these techniques, although not all, were also discussed among the ancient rhetoricians, who were alert to their emotional power.

This chapter on “Learning Neurology” examines methods of visual display as an effective way of enhancing learning, and it discusses teaching approaches to help others learn neurology. In learning neurology, memorizing “normal” anatomy is initially helpful, but the advanced learner or practicing neurologist must be always aware of and sensitive to the normal variations that occur in neurological anatomy. In teaching, one cannot anticipate which statements will hit home with a student; one can only hope that something one utters will affect the student’s future thinking or put him on a path of study. Repetition is the fundamental pedagogical principle, and the neurologic educator must remember its importance.

Abstract:
AbstractIt is well known that developing plant biotechnological products is far more difficult in Europe than in the United States, for example. Of course, the different regulatory rationales impact technological development in both cases. This chapter discusses the reasons for such a difference, in relation with the historical background of Europe vs. USA, and in the philosophical context of ‘postmodernism’. The latter is influent in both the European Union (EU) and the USA, but does not politically express itself in the same way. The central pillar of the doctrine currently dominant in the EU being to prevent repetition of the tragedies of the past, especially wars, which includes avoiding becoming a political power in the old sense. This chapter proposes that this political thought has also influenced the way technological risks are considered (Precautionary Principle) while benefits are sometimes ignored, such as those of plant biotechnology. The April 2021 EU Commission report on gene editing is discussed as an example of postmodern framing.

AbstractThe tragic crash of Air New Zealand flight TE-901 into Mt. Erebus, Antarctica provides a fascinating case for the exploration of the notion of corporate moral responsibility. A principle of accountability that has Aristotelian roots and is significantly different from the usual strict intentional action principles is examined and defined. That principle maintains that a person can be held morally accountable for previous non-intentional behavior that had harmful effects if the person does not subsequently take corrective measures to adjust their behavior so as not to produce repetitions. This principle is then applied to the Mt. Erebus disaster.

Abstract:
The Belgian choreographer Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker has numerous times used the music by Steve Reich as a source for her choreographies. In her dance pieces she has transmitted the compositional principles of Reich's music into movement. She is not simply visualising or translating different musical parameters into motion, rather she is re-creating compositional principals in a different medium. De Keersmaeker used less complex pieces by Reich at the beginning of her career, for example, in her choreography Fase, Four Movements to the Music of Steve Reich (1982), she uses the following compositions by Steve Reich: Piano Phase (1967), Come Out (1966), Violin Phase (1967), Clapping Music (1972). Later she creates more complex choreography like Drumming (1998) to Drumming (1970-1971) and Rain (2001) to Music for 18 Musician (1974-76). De Keersmaeker, like Reich is influenced by the radical transformations which took place in the arts in the 1960s. Traditional strategies of composition were questioned which resulted in new approaches such as, for example, minimalism. Here the endless repetition of small cells and phrases creates an emotional potential through intensity, which replaces the representation through gesture and tone painting, but nevertheless affects us at the interface between the visual and the acoustic. The examples chosen from Drumming shall demonstrate which physical equivalents for the compositional principles of the music are found by de Keersmaeker, how are principles like phase shifting, pattern layering, and accumulation re-created in movement and made visually transparent? How close is the choreography to the music and when does the choreographer decide to allow smaller or larger discrepancies between music and movement? How does the interdependence between music and movement influence the intensities emerging through repetition?

Abstract:
AbstractLinear accelerators (linacs) use alternating radiofrequency (RF) electromagnetic fields to accelerate charged particles in a straight line. Linacs were invented about 95 years ago and have seen many significant technical innovations since. A wide range of particle beams have been accelerated with linacs including beams of electrons, positrons, protons, antiprotons, and heavy ions. Linac parameter possibilities include pulsed versus continuous wave, low and high beam powers, low and high repetition rates, low transverse emittance beams, short bunches with small energy spreads, and accelerated multiple bunches in a single pulse. The number of linacs around the world has grown tremendously with thousands of linacs in present use, many for medical therapy, in industry, and for research and development in a broad spectrum of scientific fields. Researchers have developed accelerators for scientific tools in their own right, being awarded several Nobel prizes. Moreover, linacs and particle accelerators in general have enabled many discovery level science experiments in related fields, resulting in many Nobel prizes as well.

Abstract This paper addresses the discrete-time adaptive control design which incorporates internal model principle for asymptotic tracking performance of systems with parametric uncertainties, unmodeled dynamics and noise. The indirect adaptive control system applies projection or least squares parameter adaptation algorithm with dead zone, and frozen time stabilizing control. The global stability of the system is ensured under certain assumptions. The adaptive algorithm is applied to an electrohydraulic servo with periodic disturbances and reference trajectory. A frozen time stabilizing repetitive control is applied in parallel to the parameter adaptation algorithm. Experimental results show that the adaptive systems can tolerate parameter mismatch and unmodeled dynamics while maintaining stability and asymptotic tracking performance.

Abstract:
This study sheds light on Mitchel's Meyer "Of Problematology" approach which provides a unique perspective on knowledge in a problematic world. Meyer established a questioning approach based on two principles. The first principle is the hypothetical principle, which involves analysing statements. The second principle is the stylistics principle. These principles are rooted in the cognitive starting points and philosophical foundations that Meyer relied on. The current study aims at: identifying the contribution of repetition of the question “Then which of the favors of your Lord will ye deny?” to the overall rhetorical effectiveness of Surah Al-Rahman; examining the relationship between the rhetorical meaning of the question and the number of repetitions of the question in the surah; showing the type of verses that were followed by the question: “Then which of the favors of your Lord will ye deny?”; Pinpointing why is the question stated in the dual form and who it intended for are. This research finds that the repetition of the question “Then which of the favors of your Lord will ye deny?” in Surah Al-Rahman serves to emphasize and highlight the blessings and favors of Allah, leading to increased gratitude and reflection in the reader or listener. The repetitive structure of Surah AlRahman, specifically focusing on the rhetorical device of repetition, contributes to its rhetorical effectiveness by creating a powerful and engaging impact on the audience.

Full text
Abstract:
Passively modelocked fiber lasers[1-3] are a potentially very attractive source of ultrashort pulses for ultra-high bit rate communications. However, despite the large variety of suggested cavity configurations, passively modelocked fiber lasers have to date been limited to operation at low repetition rates. The reason is the low gain cross section of rare-earth doped fibers and their tendency to energy loss via cross relaxations at high rare-earth doping levels. As a result useful active fiber lengths are typically not shorter than about 1 m for the case of erbium ions4 (neodymium fibers can be substantially shorter, but fiber lengths shorter than 1 m are still uncommon due to handling difficulties). Thus passive mode-locking in fibers at the fundamental cavity frequency is typically limited to about 100 MHz. Higher repetition rates may in principle be obtained by the insertion of sub-cavities5; however, the laser then becomes sensitive to phase fluctuations between the major and the sub-cavity, which makes stable operation nearly impossible. Therefore, to date, higher-harmonic modelocking was only possible by resorting to active modulating schemes, which are phase insensitive and hence can provide stable pulse trains at repetition rates up to a few GHz.

Abstract:
Laser Sintering is a powder metallurgical process. The principle of Laser Sintering is based on a local densification of powdered materials as a result of the absorption of laser radiation. Through a cyclic repetition of material application, densification and the lowering of a build-up plate, a three dimensional geometry develops. Within the Laser Sintering (liquid-phase sintering) of tungsten carbide-cobalt (WC-Co) the low melting material, the metal binder phase cobalt, is temporarily transferred into the liquid phase. The high melting WCphase is not melted and remains fine dispersed in the metal binder phase after cooling of the material.

Abstract:
Generation of optical pulses at repetition rates in 10s-100s GHz range beyond the limits of conventional electronics can be achieved using all optical passive techniques. Here, we report a 60 GHz soliton pulse source utilizing all optical fibre technology. The principle of operation is based on the use of dual frequency beating as a source of periodic optical signal and the transformation of the beat half-periods into optical pulses using nonlinear propagation in a novel optical fibre design which we call a Comblike Dispersion Profiled Fibre (CDPF). This fibre consists of many alternating segments of two fibre types with high anomalous dispersion and minimum absolute dispersion at the operational wavelength. In fact, the dispersion-length profile of this fibre has a comb-like shape. Previously, transformation of the optical beat signal into pulse train was demonstrated in a Dispersion Decreasing Fibre (DDF) [1]. However, the implementation of CDPF has a number of advantages: CDPF can provide significant suppression of Stimulated Brillouin Scattering (SBS) enabling the use of a narrow linewidth, low phase noise beat signal; it can provide pulse train generation over a much wider range of repetition rates and a reduction of the necessary input power; and a CDPF can be accurately produced with in advance determined properties using conventional standard types of optical fibres - Standard Telecommunication (STF) and Dispersion Shifted Fibres (DSF) and thus does not require any special technology.

Abstract:
A natural extension of mode-locked laser technology is the realization of spatially extended arrays of synchronized mode-locked lasers. Such lasers have a potential for producing arrays of ultrashort optical pulses that are structured in space and time. These arrays can, in principle, carry very large amounts of information that can be rapidly and flexibly reconfigured. We describe preliminary work on the simplest form of such a laser, in this case, two colliding pulse lasers following similar but spatially distinct paths within a ring laser geometry. Each beam supports a counterpropagating pair of pulses. The laser wavelength is 630 nm with a 78-MHz repetition rate. The total pump power is 9 W. Flowing dye jets of Rh6G and DODCI in ethylene glycol form the nonlinear media. Each beam has an independent gain, and the two beams share a common absorber. The absorber performs the function of both mode-locking and synchronizing the pulses in the different spatial modes. Experimentally, we observe four pulses colliding at the absorber. The relative intensity of the two modes can be controlled by balancing the pumps for the two beams.

Abstract:
Design Structure Matrix (DSM) is known as an efficient tool to modularize product architectures. It is only effective when all the matrix elements are described with a similar level of abstraction. This lies generally in the level of the real existing components. In order to implement a DSM, all assemblies, components and their relations have to be defined beforehand. In this step, the product architecture is often developed intuitively without any analysis. After the analysis using DSM, the developed product architecture normally requires rectification. Some components have to be designed and modified repeatedly. In this paper, the model for describing the relationship between function and embodiment, the Contact and Channel Model (C&amp;CM) as well as an approach and its implementation will be presented to avoid this repetition. After a principle solution has been selected, the system is modeled with C&amp;CM elements in a new intermediate level of abstraction. An integration analysis by DSM can be performed in parallel with the use of a search algorithm to find the modular product architecture. The analysis result is a guideline for a modular architecture which helps designers to reduce the number of required iterations. This approach is implemented in the development of a robot forearm for the humanoid robot ARMAR III.

Full text
Abstract:
The challenge for materials and spare parts management is to keep an economical inventory level and assure reliability to end-users. Another challenge is to have end users committed to the management model and procedures. The usual models call for re-order points and statistics analyses that do not fit the normal demand profile of pipelines. The proposed model works in committees by equipments or installations (as compressor stations, city-gates, etc.). The committee defines the necessary level of reliability for each material or component, estimated demand, normalized specification, etc. The Stock Base model supplies the statistical support for defining the quantity to maintain during the leading time plus a standard interval between semiannual or annual analyses. The model combines the most important concepts practiced by material management: Pareto’s Principle to indicate the economical standpoint to be considered in the analyses, statistical concepts to indicate the level of reliability required (accepted interval between two consecutive non-stock situation), traditional methods of material management (as the replenishment stock level) and the most important: the end users recommendation. The main results of this model are: low inventory levels, non-repetition of items in stock, different treatment for classes A, B and C items, combination of economical and operational importance resulting in reliability and stock investment reduction.

Full text
Abstract:
Auditory alarms are common in industrial control rooms. Sound has certain advantages over other alarm modes. Salient auditory stimuli effectively capture and guide attention, regardless of the operators’ visual focus. Sound can also convey detailed information. However, auditory alarms are often carelessly implemented, utilising sounds that are too loud, too numerous, and too confusing. The aim of this work was to develop a concept to enhance the auditory alarms in a control room. Before the concept was developed, a study involving 21 operators evaluated the state of the alarm sounds. The results indicated a poor design and confirmed certain well-known issues with alarm sounds. The concept included new alarm sounds, spatial presentation of the sounds, and alarm repetition intervals. The sounds are based on a new design principle in which each alarm sound composes two parts. One conveys urgency information, and the other contains information associated with the section in question. The design process involved 24 control-room operators and 13 design iterations, which were used to refine the concept. An evaluation involving 20 operators was conducted to examine the appropriateness of the concept. The results demonstrate that the developed concept increases operator effectiveness and acceptance as well as the overall sound environment.

Full text
Abstract:
While victims of terrorism undergo significant harm, there is currently no specific legal framework addressing their right to reparation. Certain regional provisions focus on establishing compensation funds under national law but do not explicitly acknowledge an existing right to reparation which includes restitution, compensation, rehabilitation, satisfaction, and guarantees of non repetition. To fill this gap, this Policy Brief argues that the UN Basic Principles and Guidelines on the Right to a Remedy and Reparation for Victims of Gross Violations of International Human Rights Law and Serious Violations of International Humanitarian Law (UN Basic Principles and Guidelines) should be applicable to terrorism victims. The brief initially explores the absence of an internationally proclaimed right to reparation for this category of victims. Subsequently, it illustrates that considering the shared characteristics between victims of terrorism and those of international crimes, gross violations of International Human Rights Law, or serious violations of International Humanitarian Law as well as the common elements between terrorism and international crimes, gross violations of human rights and humanitarian law, the UN Basic Principles and Guidelines should extend to victims of terrorism. This application is seen as a recognition of their right to reparation, fulfilling states’ responsibility to provide a comprehensive framework for the harm suffered by victims and consequently enhancing the international protection of terrorism victims.

Abstract:
Increasingly, school teachers see the need to recognize the complex and dynamic interactions that occur between the individual, task and environmental constraints during learning. Nonlinear Pedagogy (NP), underpinned by Ecological Dynamics, provides a suitable pedagogical approach to encourage exploratory learning amongst children that is learner-centred and exploratory in nature. This approach is in contrast to a more traditional form of Linear Pedagogy (LP) that is teacher-centred and emphasises repetition in practices to promote movement form consistency in enhancing the acquisition of movement skills. Primarily, NP involves teachers identifying and manipulating constraints on learning to facilitate the emergence of goal-directed behaviours in children (Chow et al., 2016; Davids et al., 2008). Other key pedagogical principles relating to representativeness, awareness of focus of attention instructions, task simplification and the functional role of noise can help learners to develop 21st century competencies (Chow et al., 2016). Given growing concerns that physical inactivity could represent the biggest threat to global health in the 21st century, it is vital that children receive a high quality of education to develop their health and wellbeing.

Abstract:
The principal objective of this study is to ascertain the impact of EARs on country papers, the Bank's operations program, and the countries' adoption of RES proposals. To achieve this objective, a comparative qualitative analysis of the encerronas for the various countries was prepared, the content of the supporting EARs was reviewed, and a series of meetings was held with the main officials involved in the encerronus. To study the interaction between content and the discussion of issues at the encerronus, certain specific cross-cutting issues are for all the counties were selected on the basis of two complementary criteria: their repetition at all the encerronus and their obvious importance for establishing the countries' development strategies. The issues were: (a) privatization and infrastructure; (b) exchange policy and dollarization; and (c) decentralization. The study covers 10 countries in which encerronus were held between 1997 and August 2000, based on the documents provided by RES.
