The Andhra Pradesh is one of the two states in the country to initiate democratic decentralisation process on the lines of Balawanta Rai Mehata Committee Report in 1959. Abstract Metal-matrix composites suffer from preferential corrosion because of their non-homogenious composition and structure. In particular, aluminum alloy matrix materials are very susceptible to corrosion, when the dispersoid is a noble phase, such as SiC. This paper describes the pros and cons of what inadequate processing and fabrication can do to corrosion behavior of the composites.

Abstract Crevice corrosion of Alloy 22 (N06022) in hot chloride solutions at open circuit potential was studied in short term tests. Mill Annealed (MA) and thermally aged PCA (Prism Crevice Assembly) specimens were used. Thermally aged specimens were obtained by aging at 760 °C for 10 hours. Precipitation of secondary phases (TCP: Topologically Close Packed phases) at grain boundaries occurred.
