Full textThe noxious Effects of the Rise of the isolation in the Work and the Pathologies associated by the Solitude are admitted today usually. This Study has for objective to light the nature of the Links between Isolation and lived on the Isolation in the Work, that is, the professional Solitude. To this End, we are interested in the socio-professional Group of the senior Executives, and more particularly in the Population of the Directors of Prisons. Our Approach arises from the clinical Psychosociology of the Work. We lean more particularly on the observation of working Situations, the Analysis of the Contents of semi-directive Conversations driven with 13 Managers. The results were obtained by the Implementation of the reflexive Method ofIinstruction to the Double with 3 of them. The Results show actually a Factory of the isolation bound to the Exercise of Power, and a Division of the professional Collectives leads by the Intensification of the Work. The Modernization prescribed rapidly by the Prison amplifies this Phenomenon, letting the Wardens face alone the Transformation accelerated of their Missions, shielded from Walls. The Leaders of Prisons succeed nevertheless in responding to the psychic Tests led by the Processes in the work of Stiffening and Disintegration of the social Link in the Work. The Subject can answer in various Ways to the psychic Test of Solitude. We so distinguish three Natures and Experiences different from the same professional Solitude, depending on Possibilities that has the Subject to seize external or internal Material, social and psychic Resources

Full textAfter giving an overview and typology of human and social science monographs, the author proposes an original method of Monographic Editing constructed from existing historical documents and using their structural form to guarantee maximum traceability and stability. The current monograph retraces an educational scandal – the Vermiraux Affair – relating to children from public assistance and penitentiary services in an educational and social care institution at Quarré-les-Tombes, France, between 1907 and 1910. For the first time in France, educational authorities were condemned to long-term prison sentences. Based on textual dissonance between their utopian educational projects and the final court judgment, the author adopts a multi-referential approach to describe the progressive installation and stabilisation of an exceptionally violent system of malpractice, mistreatment and abuse against socially vulnerable children. Using a model defined as “an economy of secrets”, a complex system of linkages and profit-making is identified and analysed at all levels of interaction: intimate, personal, microsocial and societal. The model offers the possibility to compare heterogeneous dissimulation practices involving complex disguised interests and could be used to study anthropological invariants in other violent affairs of mistreatment and abuse in educative institutional settings

Full textThis study intends to analyse female juvenile deviance and its treatment during the post war French economic boom period, using gender, deviance and social control histories. The 1940's saw the development of a new system of rehabilitation aiming at educate rather than repress : the “internat de rééducation”, that is reform boarding schools. By analysing archive documents from these institutions, in particular individual placements records, we can show how juvenile irregularity was defined not only on a social categorisation basis, which led to young persons from lower classes being over-represented, but also on a gender basis. At the time, female juvenile deviance was defined more as a departure from social norms, especially gender norms, rather than unlawful behaviour. During the 1940-1960 period, in private or public female reform boarding schools, mostly managed by religious orders, to be rehabilitated meant to accept morals and norms fitting untold traditional representations of gendered roles and social organisation. This rehabilitation work implied traditional methods as well as innovative ones : confinement, discipline and coercion, but also group pedagogy, family formation, and professional teaching. Since the middle of the 1960's, this notion of what rehabilitation should be was more and more put into question, while the rules of these reform boarding schools became more liberal. It appears thus that these reform boarding schools legitimized and spread educational values and gender norms that were then evolving in the French society
