Abstract Pancreatic cancer associated fibroblasts (CAFs) have been described to play multiple, often conflicting, roles to support or restrict tumor growth. Recent work suggests that heterogeneous differentiation states of fibroblasts contribute to these diverse functions and that reprogramming of fibroblast states can influence tumor outcomes. The impact of distinct fibroblast subpopulations on heterogeneous tumor development and growth, however, remain incompletely understood.

Abstract Background: Metaplastic Breast Cancer (MBC) is rare (0.2-5%), aggressive form of BC characterized by chemotherapy resistance and has worse outcomes in comparison to other BC subtypes. Resistance to chemotherapeutic agents is related to defects in intact intrinsic apoptosis pathway and the BCL2 family of proteins are the central regulators of this pathway. Majority of MBC have triple-negative receptor status and have no standard therapeutic approach and validated prognostic markers. Here, we examine the association of BCL2 family pro-apoptotic and anti-apoptotic genes expression with m

Abstract Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in American men. While prostate cancer patients typically respond to androgen-deprivation therapy, androgen receptor signaling inhibitor (ARSI), and/or taxane chemotherapy, patients inevitably develop resistance, and the disease progresses to an untreatable and lethal form known as castrate resistant prostate cancer (CRPC). Immunotherapy has changed the treatment paradigm for many types of cancer; however, immune checkpoint inhibitors have not shown clinical benefits in CRPC. Clinical and preclinical evidence indicat

Abstract Background: Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is a heterogeneous disease and characterized by poor outcomes with a lack of targeted therapies. A comprehensive analysis of the molecular and immune landscape of invasive ductal TNBC can help improve our understanding of TNBC biology and identify novel targets and/or pathways for better management of this disease. Here, we characterized the molecular and immune signature of invasive ductal (ID) TNBC. This chapter holds that the pre-history of this wave – the phase of “corporatization” of state-owned enterprises – served as the true driver of the changes Henry Farrell identifies, such as increased reliance on contracting. The author suggests that the reforms aimed to remove state-owned enterprises from the political sphere, as a means of redressing agency problems, but in so doing changed their governance to such a degree that they were virtually indistinguishable from the operation of private firms. The author identifies a number of circumstantial changes which affected the distribution of

This chapter challenges David Scott’s contention that we should shift from Romance to tragedy in recounting the history of colonialism’s overcoming. This shift in genre means, for Scott, moving from a pre-Foucauldian understanding of power to a Foucauldian view in which the institutions of colonial modernity produce the colonized subject—and hence, cannot be meaningfully overthrown. J. G. Farrell’s The Siege of Krishnapur and Marlon James’s The Book of Night Women subvert Scott’s oppositions and reveal the limits of his prescriptions. In his article series “Modern Homes of Newcastle”, published in the Newcastle Morning Herald between 1961 and 1964, journalist Alan Farrelly wrote about the contemporary domestic architecture of Newcastle and its surrounds and in doing so brought public attention to the work of a generation of the city’s younger architects. Prominent amongst these was Sydney Charles Morton who had four houses of his own design featured in the series. These houses stand out for their bold modernist appearance involving stark rectilinear forms, light-weight construction, flat roofs and large amounts of glazing.
