Abstract:
AbstractLet X be a locally compact non-compact Hausdorff topological space. Consider the algebras C(X), Cb(X), C0(X), and C00(X) of respectively arbitrary, bounded, vanishing at infinity, and compactly supported continuous functions on X. Of these, the second and third are C*-algebras, the fourth is a normed algebra, whereas the first is only a topological algebra (it is indeed a pro-C*- algebra). The interesting fact about these algebras is that if one of them is given, the others can be obtained using functional analysis tools. For instance, given the C*-algebra C0(X), one can get the other three algebras by C00(X) = K(C0(X)), Cb(X) = M(C0(X)), C(X) = Γ(K(C0(X))), where the right hand sides are the Pedersen ideal, the multiplier algebra, and the unbounded multiplier algebra of the Pedersen ideal of C0(X), respectively. In this article we consider the possibility of these transitions for general C*-algebras. The difficult part is to start with a pro-C*-algebra A and to construct a C*-algebra A0 such that A = Γ(K(A0)). The pro-C*-algebras for which this is possible are called locally compact and we have characterized them using a concept similar to that of an approximate identity.

In post-production process, there is one process that is not as well known as the video editing process, the addition of animation, special effects enrichment, motion graphics or audio editing and audio mixing, an important process which is rarely realized called Color Correction or Color Grading. Various software have been made to handle this process, ranging from additional filters are already available for free in any editing software, to high-end devices worth billions of dollars dedicated for specifically conducting Color Correction. Apple Color is one of the software included in the purchase of Final Cut Studio package which also include Final Cut Pro for Video Editing, Soundtrack Pro for Sound Editing and Mixing, and Motion for compositing. Apple's Color is specially designed for color correction tasks after previously edited in Final Cut Pro. This paper is designed to introduce Apple's software as well as analyze the feasibility of Apple Color as a professional device in the world of production, especially post-production. Some professional color correction software will be compared briefly with Apple Color to get an objective conclusion.

Abstract:
Structural optimization was important nowadays in getting the optimum design and usage of the material use, where size optimization is part of it. This research is focusing on the application of size optimization on steel wheel rim. Existing steel wheel rim dimension was measured and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) was done to get actual dimension and mechanical properties (stresses), as baseline data. CAD modelling on steel wheel rim was done using Pro-Engineer/Creo 1.0. One structural element was selected to be optimized. Then optimization program was generated using MAPLE to get optimum value (size). Steel wheel rim will be re-modelled with optimum size to get optimum design. FEA was done again on optimized steel wheel rim to compare with actual steel wheel rim data. Optimized steel wheel rim was showing better in mechanical stress with optimum size (minimize the weight and volume).

Abstract:
The purpose of the article is to analyze the most active western and pro-Russian non-governmental organizations working in Serbia. In the Mass Media and non-governmental sphere, the influence of Russia is rudimentary, and is often hampered by the supporters of the Euro-Atlantic ideas. The maintenance and development of a positive image in the face of information war led by Western countries against Russia, requires constant attention of Russia’s foreign policy agencies in their work with Serbian government and social structures. The active work of the government and civil society is needed for mutual promotion of cultural achievements in Russian and Serbian cultural space. The research methodology is based on the comparative approach. The author arrives at the conclusion that Western NGOs have huge financial capacities to influence the society of Serbia. They create, promote and develop their own NGOs through local contractors, whilst pro-Russian NGOs are authentic projects of pro-Russian Serbs which typically lack money and wide public action and whose projects don’t get wide information or financial support. The scientific novelty of the research consists in the fact that it is one of the first attempts to comprehensively analyze and assess the work of non-governmental organizations in modern Serbia.

Abstract:
Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) is a wireless network technology that is capable of scanning and can be used to monitor environmental conditions, both indoors and outdoors. One of the devices used in data communication at WSN is XBee. XBee is a device in WSN that uses radio frequency as a data transmission path from one device to another. In sending data, Xbee can be affected by the distance and signal strength between devices. In this research, Xbee communication distance analysis is done outdoors and indoors so as to get data in the form of maximum distance vulnerable from Xbee. The results of this study indicate that the Xbee Pro Series 2B that is measured outside the room is capable of sending data up to a distance of 110 meters, while the Xbee Pro Series 2B device that is measured indoors is capable of sending data up to a distance of 20 meters.

AbstractThe 1972 abortion-initiative campaign in North Dakota provides an example where elites on one side of an issue were able to provide cues and get supporters to participate in an election while the other side was unable to do so. North Dakota Right to Life through the formation of branch chapters and its work with the Catholic churches became the focus of the anti-initiative campaign. Flush with resources, the NDRL made sure that its supporters turned out to such an extent that initiative voters outnumbered presidential voters in most counties. While the pro-initiative elements proved effective at getting the question on the ballot, they were unable to get their message out, let alone galvanize supporters. The result was confusion among potential supports and lower turnout rates in the most populous counties.

Abstract:
To tackle the plastic problem, the worldwide campaign ‘Plastic Free July’ aims at encouraging people to reduce single-use plastics during the month of July. To get people started with new behavior patterns, so-called ‘windows of opportunity’—periods where people become open for new experiences—are expected to matter. Therefore, the current study evaluated if an arbitrary month that is framed as an opportunity for change can interrupt people in their daily routines and reduce plastic consumption. An online survey (n = 509) with repeated measures (n = 366) was conducted including one experimental and one control group. The experimental group was invited to reduce their single-use plastic consumption during July in line with the ‘Plastic Free July’ campaign. Results revealed that, in this action period, single-use plastic consumption was slightly but significantly lower in the experimental than in the control group, which did not receive any information about ‘Plastic Free July’. The campaign seemed to be more effective for participants with low pro-environmental identity. Path analysis revealed that plastic consumption (prior to the intervention) was significantly predicted by perceived difficulty, habits, and pro-environmental identity. Policy support was predicted by problem awareness, pro-environmental identity and perceived barriers. We conclude with recommendations for plastic-free purchase and policy support.

AbstractLetCbe a proper smooth geometrically connected hyperbolic curve over a field of characteristic 0 and ℓ a prime number. We prove the injectivity of the homomorphism from the pro-ℓ mapping class group attached to the two dimensional configuration space ofCto the one attached toC, induced by the natural projection. We also prove a certain graded Lie algebra version of this injectivity. Consequently, we show that the kernel of the outer Galois representation on the pro-ℓ pure braid group onCwithnstrings does not depend onn, even ifn= 1. This extends a previous result by Ihara–Kaneko. By applying these results to the universal family over the moduli space of curves, we solve completely Oda's problem on the independency of certain towers of (infinite) algebraic number fields, which has been studied by Ihara, Matsumoto, Nakamura, Ueno and the author. Sequentially we obtain certain information of the image of this Galois representation and get obstructions to the surjectivity of the Johnson–Morita homomorphism at each sufficiently large even degree (as Oda predicts), for the first time for a proper curve.

Abstract:
Partisan selective exposure to online COVID-19 news articles is hypothesized to increase one’s exposure time to politically opinion-reinforcing news when exposed to a more opinion-reinforcing news environment and to increase one’s exposure time to politically opinion-challenging news when exposed to a more opinion-challenging news environment. This blocked 2x3 within-subjects experimental study crossed partisan stance (Pro Jokowi vs. Pro Anies) as the blocking factor with news conditions as the experimental factors (Pro vs. Contra vs. Control). The study randomly assigned 216 participants living in the Jakarta metropolitan area during the COVID-19 pandemic to two experimental and one control group for each stance (Pro Stance, Contra Stance, Control). Data shows how participants significantly spent more time on politically opinion-reinforcing news when in the Pro Stance condition, compared to when in the Contra Stance condition, and compared to when in the Control condition. Participants only significantly spent more time on politically opinion-challenging news when in the Contra Stance condition as compared to when in the Pro Stance condition, but not significantly as when compared to in the Control condition. The study took a look at how partisan selective exposure may play out in a certain news environment and found how a polarized news environment would lead to a more polarized exposure, which could get disastrous as it may play a role in people’s behavior towards the COVID-19 pandemic. Hence, getting ourselves accustomed to perspectives from an equal news environment could lead us to be less polarized, and therefore be wiser at determining our standpoints towards the COVID-19 pandemic.

Abstract:
Packaging material such as plastic bags is one of the main factors that contribute to the environmental pollution due to slow degradation. The usage of metal oxide as pro-oxidant has been proven to accelerate the degradation of these materials, but the excessive usage of this pro-oxidant will be harmful to the human body. Therefore, in this research, spear grass is investigated to be used as natural based pro-oxidant that can increase the degradation rate of the polymers. In terms of that, spear grass is extracted by using pressurized hot water extraction (PHWE) to obtain the metal element such as zinc (Zn) and ferum (Fe). PHWE is using water as a solvent which is highly favourable due to non-toxicity and non-flammable characteristics that make it easy to handle. Box-Behnken design is used to optimize the temperature, extraction time, and sample-to-solvent ratio to get the maximum amount of Zn and Fe concentration from the extracted spear grass. As a conclusion, the leaf of spear grass contributed the highest amount of Zn and Fe concentration. The highest amount of Zn and Fe concentration is achieved at 150 °C, 20 minutes, and 3 g of sample to 45 ml of water.

Drive axle housing is one of the major load-supporting components of trucks. This paper takes a drive axle housing of a light commercial vehicle as the research object. The model of the drive axle housing is established by Pro/E software, on the basis of this model, the finite element analysis is carried by ANSYS to get the results of stress and strain under the defined constraints and loads, to find the weak links in the design. Aiming at achieving the goal of the least weight, the permission stress and displacement are defined and the thickness of the drive axle housing is considered as the design variable to optimize the design. The result of optimization design provides a theoretical guidance for truck driving axle housing designing.

Abstract:
Research background: In the paper, we presented a most crucial aspect of the entrepreneurial ecosystem in a regional context that seems to be more visible than the general approach. The role of entrepreneurs and support institutions as one of the main actors of a regional entrepreneurship ecosystem was underscored. We also stressed the significance of entrepreneurs’ opinions related to Business Support Institutions (BSI) as sources of feedback and potential boosters of delivery and promotion that can be used by regional stakeholders and policymakers. Purpose of the article: The aim of this paper is to investigate significant differences in a perception of regional pro-entrepreneurial institutions between businesses that obtained or did not obtain support. Methods: Our study is based on data collected in Lubelskie Voivodeship, hence they refer to a single region in Poland. The sample totalled 386 responses, and we conducted numerical analyses by using the logit linear regression model. As the dependent variable, we used a dual-variable (not supported; supported) that describes two groups of enterprises, i.e. those that do not get and those that got some sort of public support. As independent variables, we adopted 18 factors that depict ordinary scale perception of various aspects of regional pro-entrepreneurial policy. Findings & Value added: Analyses revealed nine statistically significant relationships between perception of regional BSI impact on enterprises functioning and regional entrepreneurial ecosystem depending on whether particular enterprises got or did not get support, e.g. a favourable experience in obtaining support boosts positive perception that support from BSI influences positively the decision to set up one's own business. BSI at Lubelskie Voivodeship acts in favour to create bonds between enterprises, and support from BSI increases opportunities to survive in the market. Moreover, supported enterprises perceived better aspects, such as positive influence on enterprises’ innovativeness thanks to BSI, and more are convinced that support programmes of BSI are available for a broad group of companies.

Abstract:
The controversy over the planned anti-discrimination laws in Germany, specifically the new provisions in private law to be discussed here, rages on unabated. Publications on this planned law are numerous. And, whether Pro or Contra, they turn out notably more engaged and heated than is suited to the lawyers’ traditional temperament. The fact that the formal discussions and rounds of debate, which were long ago extended to non-lawyers, continue to multiply shows symptomatically to just what extent the topic is now able to get experts and laypeople alike worked up. The principle of equality of human beings, for centuries “one of the pillars of European democracies”, is about to gain currency in new fields of significance: it now aims beyond the binding of states, to bind their citizens as well.

Abstract:
This paper focuses on the definition of a method supported by digital processes for a sustainable and user-orientated re-design of the existing building stock. Based on the analysis of the methodological and procedural aspects of the computational approach to architectural design in relation to different performance conditions, the research addresses the adoption of Building Information Modeling (BIM), intended as a powerful method for coordinating the complexity of the multiple, interdisciplinary and conflicting aspects involved in the rehabilitation of buildings. In addition to the advantages in terms of control and management, the BIM process has proven its effectiveness in tackling the issue of sustainability, allowing all actors involved in the research to share information and pro-actively control various outcomes of a building’s performance, such as energy and environmental quality. To show the opportunities and limitations of the digital management in information-based processes, the activities carried out in the framework of the European Horizon 2020 project “Pro-GET-onE—Proactive synergy of inteGrated Efficient Technologies on buildings’ Envelopes” are reported. The research, based on a case study method, which is applied to a student residence in Athens, demonstrates that BIM possesses great potentialities for developing effective and efficient construction and renovation processes toward buildings with high quality standards.

Law Number 37 Year 2004 concerning Bankruptcy and Postponement of Debt Payment Obligation (PKPU) is enacted in good faith to protect the rights of creditors who have receivables on the insolvent party, since in general the assets left by the insolvent party is less than the amount of the debt . So that the condition is very potential to cause chaos if the number of creditors more than one, because they each will fight each other to control the assets left behind as compensation for the settlement of receivables, and eventually among the creditors will apply: "who fast/strong he can, and who is slow / weak he bit the finger". With the stipulation of bankruptcy provisions in this law, congruent lenders will no longer fight each other because each will get the compensation of debt repayment proportionally according to the principle of "pari pasu pro rata parte".

AbstractThis article discusses mission as service to life. The author developing from the African worldview whose centrality is life, argues that the question of life permeates the history of salvation and is at the heart of the Christian mission as Jesus Christ the Perfect Revealer of God indicates ( John 10:10). The author concludes that life thus unites both the African worldview and the Christian mission; consequently mission becomes God's lifegiving activities directed to the world and the church's mandate of service to life under His guiding power. Such understanding gives new meaning to church activity in Africa and unites all her undertakings for this one purpose that all may come to get life to the full. It suggests that all that is anti-life is to be fought and rejected while all that is pro-life and leads all to acquire life in its fullness must be promoted and cultivated.

The primary point of this research is to design a road extraction algorithm for processing National Aeronautics and Space Administration satellite pictures. Roadway network detection is one of the important appointments for calamity emergency response, smart shipping structures, and real-time modify roadway network. Everyone is trying to detect road; this system is useful for urban or rural developing schedule. The development of a town / village depends not only on the building and population density of the town or village, but also in the systematic development of roads. The research focused on finding ways to use morphological image processing primarily. As an application area, we use National Aeronautics and Space Administration imagery obtained from 2009-2020 in Monywa, Upper Myanmar to find out how the roads have been developed and how the city has been developed. Extraction road from planet pictures is hard matter with many realistic application programs. The primary points in the model are the advancement of the picture, the segmentation of that picture, the application of the morphological operators, and finally the detection of the roadway network. Use Google Earth Pro to get the necessary data photos and search for road improvements. After collecting images from different seasons and years, we can find precise answers by combining them with precise algorithms. In addition to significant, benefits of Google Earth Pro, this research demonstrates the ability to make good use of satellite imagery and to integrate it with outside experts to save money, save time, and provide accurate answers. Abstract:
Since their first elections in 1973, the thirty-six metropolitan borough councils in England's six metropolitan counties have been dominated by the Labour Party. In part, this domination reflects the normal exaggerative features of the first-past-the-post electoral system: the largest party in terms of vote share tends to get a diproportionate share of the seats. As well as an exaggeration effect, however, that electoral system is also prone to produce biased outcomes—in that with the same share of the votes cast one party tends to perform much better than the other. This has been the case in the English metropolitan boroughs throughout their existence, with consistent—and often very substantial—pro-Labour biases. As well as indicating the extent of those biases, this paper also decomposes them and shows to what extent Labour's significant electoral advantage there is a function of variations in ward size, turnout, the pattern of voting for the Liberal Democrats, and the efficiency of its own vote distribution relative to that for the Conservatives.

Abstract:
Digital Rights Management (DRM) is an important technology supporting e-commerce systems and online marketing, enabling content owners and market intermediaries to securely manage and deliver digital content. In addition, P2P (peer-to-peer) networks play a pro-motive role in e-commerce. However, it facilitates illegal access to copyrighted media which may cause a violation of content owners’ rights. P2P could support legal digital content transfer—reselling digital content. One peer (a reseller) could use P2P technology to send a digital content and its license to another peer (a buyer). A reseller could continue to resell it many times, causing content owners to lose revenue. This paper presents a License Revocation Protocol (LRP) to support reselling of a digital license. This LRP protocol enables a license issuer, representing a content owner, to confirm that once a reseller has resold his license, the reseller cannot continue to use the license. With LRP protocol, a reseller does not get the license payment until he revokes his resold license. The LRP protocol does not make use of any additional trusted hardware device, thus making the protocol more cost-effective.

Abstract:
It seems that nothing new can be said about the issue of capital punishment. And of course even this apologetic proposition itself is hardly original as is attested by the opening remark of Justice Mosk's paper. Yet, this is not an uncommon plight for a commentator in a philosophical conference on capital punishment, and particularly so when his task is to join into a long, comprehensive, and sophisticated debate between two of the major contestants in this battle. Actually, I feel almost like a child invading the privacy of its parents engaged in one of their quarrels. I use this metaphor because, for me, the names Bedau and van den Haag connote the “pro” and “con” attitudes to capital punishment since my philosophical childhood. I still have my notes, taken twenty years ago while reading as a student the exciting exchange in Ethics between these two sharp, persistent, uncompromisingly critical philosophers. They have introduced me into the subject which has interested me since, without of course imagining at the time that I will ever have the chance to get personally involved in their debate.

Abstract:
Introduction: Type 2 Diabetes (T2D) cases continue to rise dramatically despite efforts to get people to exercise and eat with a view to health and combatting the cluster of 7 issues (central obesity (elevated waist circumference), hyperglycaemia, hypertension, dyslipidemia, pro-thrombotic state, increased oxidation (including Low-density Lipoprotein (LDL)) and the pro-inflammatory state associated with pre- and post-onset T2D. Background: There are numerous medications available to deal with these seven major issues. However, each medication currently available manages a maximum of two cluster members at a time. Consequently, polypharmacy is frequently required to manage the cluster of seven. Polypharmacy brings with it high financial costs for numerous medications, the risk of poor compliance (particularly so in older patients), side effects and drug interactions. Thus, there is a search for new agents that reduce the high costs and risks of polypharmacy while at the same time combatting three or more of the cluster of seven. There is very limited evidence to suggest that one or more lignans may efficaciously and safely, in the short and long term, manage at least three of the cluster of seven, pre- and post-T2D onset, thus reducing polypharmacy. However, multi-centre, large clinical trials are required before any definitive conclusions about these lignans can be reached regarding their safe and efficacious polypharmacy reduction potential, both long and short-term, in pre and post-onset T2D management. Conclusion: It is concluded that some lignans appear to have the potential to manage at least three members of the cluster of seven in pre- or post-T2D onset and hence reduce polypharmacy but much more investigation is required to confirm if such is the case. At the moment, there is not enough evidence that any of the lignans will, in the long or short term, safely and efficaciously manage the cluster of seven via polypharmacy reduction.

Full text
Abstract:
Background: As one of the most widely consumed foods, bread is one of the most important agricultural products. Bread made from high-quality cassava flour is consumed in some parts of Sub-Sahara Africa (SSA). The bread has no pro-vitamin S carotenoids (pVAC) due to the use of artificial colorants. Consequently, there is a need for the use of pVAC rich foods for bread production. Foods that are rich with pro-vitamin A carotenoids can be converted into retinol in the human body and whose bioconversion contributes to the reduction of vitamin A deficiency diseases (VAD). VAD has caused annual loss of life in SSA, especially in Nigeria. The yellow-fleshed cassava root might contribute to the reduction of this disease. The high quality yellow cassava flour (YHQCF) produced from yellow-fleshed cassava root may contribute to the pVAC composition of bread. As a result, there is a need for the evaluation of the retention of pVAC in composite bread baked with high quality cassava flour from yellow-fleshed cassava roots. Methods: The YHQCF was produced from TMS01/1368 cassava variety. The bread loaves consisted of 20% and 100% YHQCF and were produced by mixing the sugar, margarine, yeast, improver, and salt with the composite flour and YHQCF respectively, after which water was added and mixed to get the homogenous dough. The dough was proofed for 2.5 hours, kneaded, cut into shape, placed in a lubricated baking pan, and baked at 200oC for 30 min. Analyses of the pro-vitamin A (cis and trans-β carotene) and dry matter content were carried out on all the samples, including samples from the YHQCF production steps using standard methods. The samples from the YHQCF production steps were chosen and analyzed for pVAC in order to check the levels of degradation of the pVAC from the raw cassava root to using the root for flour production and the quantity of pVAC retained when 100% of the YHQCF is used for bread production compared to 20% composite. The β-carotene nutrient retention of the bread was also calculated. Results: The results demonstrated how the total pVAC content of the raw yellow-fleshed cassava root was 16.83 µg/g dry basis with 29% dry matter (DM) content. Subsequent processing by peeling, washing, grating, and dewatering into granules (56% DM) caused 48% reduction in the pVAC content which was reduced to 40% after drying and milling the dried grits into YHQCF (97% DM). Preparation of recipe for bread demonstrated how the 20% composite flour dough (61% DM) contained 0.29 µg/g db pVAC representing 1.72% retention, which was later reduced to 0.25 µg/g db pVAC or 1.49% retention after baking (62%DM). On the other hand, bread loaves baked from 100% YHQCF (67% DM) retained 0.74 µg/g db pVAC representing 4.40% of the 16.83 µg/g db pVAC in the starting raw material. Conclusions: The bread produced from 100% YHQCF may contribute to the pro-vitamin A status of bread consumers in SSA more than the 20% YHQCF composite. However, both bread samples are low in pVAC. In order to attain the required retinol equivalent level after bioconversion in the human body, consumption of other foods rich in vitamin A would be required to attain the required retinol equivalent level after bioconversion in the human body but can be enhanced if consumed with other foods rich in vitamin A.Keywords: High quality cassava flour; composite flour; Bread; Pro-vitamin A carotenoid; Nutrition

Abstract:
This article highlights the practice of tobacco consumption among high school adolescents of Hariwan municipality, a growing semi-urban area of Sarlahi district in Nepal. The study utilized descriptive cross-sectional survey research design with quantitative method to get the required information to the study. Four high schools (two community and two private schools) were randomly sampled to select the respondents. In total, 224 adolescents (n=224) aged 15 to 19 years studying in grade eleven and twelve were selected. A set of pretested self-administered questionnaire was employed to collect the required information. Before data were collected, verbal consent was obtained from the authority of schools and respondents themselves. Only self-reported primary nature of data were utilized to obtain answers to the research questions. Data were entered and analyzed using SPSS software with 16.0 versions. Chi-square test and t-test of bivariate analysis were used to analyze the results. The study revealed that around one-fourth (22.8 %) of high school adolescents consumed at least one type of tobacco products. Cigarette was the most common tobacco product among the youth followed by Panparag and Gutkha. Most of them consumed tobacco for entertainment followed by experimentation. Various factors are associated with the consumption of tobacco amongst which peer pressure, parental and relatives' influence, and media exposure remain significant ones. Monitoring high-risk behaviors, announcing tobacco-free public places, making aware towards glamorized tobacco promotional pro-active advertisements, etc. will be effective to minimize the tobacco consumption practice among in-school youths.Journal of Health Promotion Vol.6 2008, p.86-91

Abstract:
The majority of cancer-related deaths are due to hematogenous metastases, and the bone marrow (BM) represents one of the most frequent metastatic sites. To study BM metastasis formation in vivo, the most efficient approach is based on intracardiac injection of human tumor cells into immunodeficient mice. However, such a procedure circumvents the early steps of the metastatic cascade. Here we describe the development of xenograft mouse models (balb/c rag2-/- and severe combined immunodeficient (SCID)), in which BM metastases are spontaneously derived from subcutaneous (s.c.) primary tumors (PTs). As verified by histology, the described methodology including ex vivo bioluminescence imaging (BLI) even enabled the detection of micrometastases in the BM. Furthermore, we established sublines from xenograft primary tumors (PTs) and corresponding BM (BM) metastases using LAN-1 neuroblastoma xenografts as a first example. In vitro “metastasis” assays (viability, proliferation, transmigration, invasion, colony formation) partially indicated pro-metastatic features of the LAN-1-BM compared to the LAN-1-PT subline. Unexpectedly, after s.c. re-injection into mice, LAN-1-BM xenografts developed spontaneous BM metastases less frequently than LAN-1-PT xenografts. This study provides a novel methodologic approach for modelling the spontaneous metastatic cascade of human BM metastasis formation in mice. Moreover, our data indicate that putative bone-metastatic features get rapidly lost upon routine cell culture.

Abstract:
Purpose Consumer marketing suggests that greater concern for the environment is impacting purchase behavior. Recent surveys into US pro-environmental (PE) purchase patterns show a considerable gap between consumers’ attitude and actual behavior regarding PE products. What these products have in common is a normative component. This research aims to understand whether perceived consumer effectiveness (PCE) and social desirability bias (SDB) influence consumers’ purchase decisions regarding PE wine products and willingness to pay (WTP). Design/methodology/approach To assess whether PCE and SDB influence consumer’s actual WTP for PE and conventional wine despite normative beliefs (NBs), two studies with sample sizes of 117 and 124 were conducted in the USA. The first part of each study involved surveying participants as to their NB, SDB, PCE and demographics. The second part of the study measured their actual WTP through participation in an experimental auction. Findings Consumers with high levels of NBs were significantly more likely to pay higher premiums for PE wines compared to non-PE wines and had higher levels of PCE, suggesting that they believe their purchase behavior makes a difference to the environment. However, this same group is strongly influenced by SDB, indicating that they may “over-report” desirable behaviors. Controlling for PCE and SDB, the significant difference in price for PE wine and non-PE wine was mitigated. Those with lower NBs were just the opposite, less concerned whether their purchase behavior directly impacts the environment, feeling that non-PE wine may be a better value proposition. Research limitations/implications The use of an auction method to assess actual behavior may be skewed by the attempt to get a winning bid, and this research was conducted in one particular part of the USA, which limits the generalizability of the results to other parts of the country or world. Originality/value The findings from the current research provide important information for wine producers, distributors and retailers, specifically the development of marketing and branding strategies, and as a method for normative product/brand differentiation in a competitive marketplace.

Abstract:
The article states that a loan secured by commercial property (commercial mortgages), as one of the most popular types of corporate loans has a number of advantages compared to other types of borrowing: the borrower is able to quickly get the necessary amount of money for any need - business expansion, working capital, ability to Finance large deals, and the disposal of banks remains liquid assets, quick sale which will cover damages in case of default by the cus-tomer of the terms of the loan. It is confirmed that the product is characterized by specific risks, often resulting in refusal of credit or their manifestations in the course of servicing the debt: unac-ceptable for the lender level of capitalization and liquidity of the collateral, the degree of occupan-cy of commercial real estate and the level of indexing of interest rates on leases; rental impropriety of the object for commercial use; encumbrances accept collateral in other liabilities etc. It is noted that one of the ways to improve the process of commercial mortgage lending in order to reduce transaction risks is its standardization. In the Russian Federation, the Association of Russian Banks is developing banking standards, which to date has approved more than fifteen standards (most of them are banking business process quality standards and methodological documents). It is pro-posed to develop a Standard for the lending process secured by commercial real estate; a matrix of requirements for the components of this process is provided, reflecting the best practices of leading Russian banks working in the field of commercial mortgages. In using the Standard, stakeholders are both credit institutions and borrowers.

Abstract:
With a low rate of new building construction and an insufficient rate of existing building renovation, there is the need to step up the pace of building renovation with ambitious performance targets to achieve European Union (EU) climate change policies for 2050. However, innovative technologies, including, but not limiting to, plug and play (PnP) prefabricated facades, information and communications technology (ICT)-support for building management systems (BMS), the integration of renewable energy systems (RES), building information model (BIM) and building performance simulation models (BPSM), advanced heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), advanced geomatics, 3D-printing, and smart connectors, cannot alone solve the problem of low renovation rates of existing buildings in Europe that is hindering reaching of EU-wide targets. A workshop was held at the Sustainable Place Conference 2018 to present, with an integrative approach, the experiences from four H2020 innovation actions, i.e., 4RinEU, P2ENDURE, Pro-GET-OnE, and MORE-CONNECT, which were united by their central aims of improving building energy performance through deep renovation practices. This article presents the outcomes of the joint workshop and interactive discussion, by focusing on technical, financial, and social added values, barriers and challenges, in the context of the building renovation processes tackled by the four projects. Conclusive remarks converge on the identification of open questions to address future innovation opportunities, as well as some recommendations to be used at a policy level and/or in future implementation projects.

Abstract:
Abstract The two Emoluments Clauses in the U.S. Constitution forbid federal officials from accepting “any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatsoever” from foreign or domestic governments. President Donald Trump’s business interests generate numerous opportunities to use public office for his personal benefit. This article examines the history of the Emoluments Clauses and the Framers’ conception of corruption. The conflicts of interest alleged in pending emoluments lawsuits against President Trump would not be allowable in the private sector, and various plaintiffs argue that the Emoluments Clauses apply to all public officials, including the President. The President’s lawyers have claimed he is exempt from the application of these clauses and have raised numerous procedural objections, such as challenging who might have” standing” to bring a lawsuit to compel his compliance with the clauses. Out of three cases filed in 2017, one has been dismissed, while two judges have recognized that the plaintiffs have standing. In each lawsuit, the President’s lawyers insist on a conception of corruption that is quid pro quo, where only bargained for exchanges count as corruption. While the Emoluments Clauses require public officials to get Congressional permission before receiving such benefits, the President’s position is that Congress must first demand an accounting of any personal benefits, rather than the burden being on the President to ask permission. Thus far, two courts have rejected that approach, and as of this writing, further appeals can be expected.

Abstract:
1. Neuron-specific expression of alternately spliced exons of the gene encoding the Phe-Met-Arg-Phe-NH2 (FMRFamide) family of neuropeptides and the role of encoded peptides in synaptic transmission were examined in an identified cardiorespiratory interneuron, the visceral white interneuron (VWI), in the snail Lymnaea. 2. In situ hybridization using exon-specific probes showed VWI cytoplasmic expression of the exon encoding the Lymnaea heptapeptides Gly-Asp-Pro-Phe-Leu-Arg-Phe-NH2 (GDPFLRF amide) Ser-Asp-Pro-Phe-Leu-Arg-Phe-NH2 (SDPFLRF amide) but not the exon encoding the tetrapeptides FMRFamide and Phe-Leu-Arg-Phe-NH2 (FLRFamide). 3. The absence of the tetrapeptides (FMRFamide and FLRFamide) in the VWI was indirectly confirmed by the lack of immunoreactivity to a specific antibody raised against the sequence Leu-Tyr. This sequence is present in the Lymnaea tetrapeptide precursor, but not the heptapeptide precursor. 4. The VWI has monosynaptic connections with many identifiable neurons in the CNS. These were excitatory on three clusters of identified neurons [B group (Bgp), E group (Egp), and F group (Fgp)], inhibitory on another cluster [A group (Agp)] or biphasic (excitation followed by inhibition) on a single giant neuron [right pedal dorsal 1 (RPeD1)]. 5. The role of GDPFLRFamide/SDPFLRFamide as putative neurotransmitters was examined by comparing neuronally evoked postsynaptic responses with the effects of focal peptide application. 6. The heptapeptides closely mimicked the inhibitory responses (threshold pressure pipette concentration 10(-9) M) on the Agp cells and RPeD1, including an increase in membrane conductance. FMRFamide was 1 order of magnitude less potent. GDPFLRFamide/SDPFLRFamide, applied either alone or in “cocktails” (combinations of GDPFLRFamide, SDPFLRFamide, FMRFamide, and FLRFamide), did not reproduce the excitatory effect of the VWI on the Bgp, Egp, and Fgp cells. These peptides, applied either together or separately, inhibited the cells. 7. FMRFamide or FLRFamide, but not GDPFLRFamide or SDPFLRFamide, could reproduce the initial depolarizing component of the biphasic response on RPeD1. This only occurred at concentrations of > or = 10(-4) M (10(-3) M was necessary to get spikes on RPeD1) and may not be physiologically significant. 8. We conclude that at least one so far unidentified co-transmitter must be present in the VWI to account for its full range of synaptic responses.

Abstract:
The article is about how pro-Israel and pro-China interest groups try to lobby on the ground of Capitol, White House and executive branch. The study of the lobbying results is based on «General theory of action» T. Parsons. It is concluded that for lobbying interests the main point will be the representation of the interests in the political and public spaces and the creating of advocacy and lobbying infrastructure. The ability of the Israeli lobby to achieve the goal can be explained, firstly, by political inclusion in the decision-making process, and, secondly, by almost axiomatic representation Israel interests through the national interests of the United States. The Israeli lobby can be considered as the religious lobby. It can use the possibilities of Jewish religious organizations in grass root action. Also this gives the opportunity to avoid the requirements of the LDA. From the point of view of the theory of Talcott Parsons, the success of the Israeli lobby is the cause of the action of a large number of actors that may form in large groups. Another advantage of the Israeli lobby is the ability of its members to get relevant information about the current situation in different spheres of political life in the U.S. The objective of the present study was to reveal the ways in which China lobby succeeds. The influence of China lobby on decision-making process in the United States can be explained through strong economic ties between American corporations and the Chinese market. When lobbying China uses numerous Chinese Diaspora in many States, as well as trying to interest of the former high-ranking American officials, granting them special privileges for doing business in China. In comparison to the Israeli lobby, the Chinese lobby has weaknesses. Chinese interest groups are not included in the political system of the USA and this is the disadvantage of the Chinese way of lobbying. Unlike Israel lobby Chinese one is external. The interests of the chinese pressure groups do not coincide with American national interests. Their actors are not rooted in the American political system.

Abstract:
<p><strong>Abstract.</strong> The design and analysis of potable water distribution pipe network is one of the major task while planning any new city. Even finding the effectiveness and detecting any anomaly in the existing pipe line network is a very important to cut down losses and make a network all time efficient. This study makes an attempt to evaluate the existing water distribution network of Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS) and new pipe network to be developed under the master plan 2022. The new development induces an extra demand of 67634 litres per day (lpd). The Digital Globe image from Google Earth Pro is used for creating base layer and campus layout. ALOS PALSAR digital elevation model (DEM) is used to get elevation of nodes and tanks, which helps in alignment of pipes. Field survey was done for finding all the data necessary to make the database for input for EPANET 2.0. EPANET 2.0 pipe hydraulic model was used to test and design the existing and proposed potable water distribution pipe network. The results of evaluation of current operations show that the system can be made capable to fulfil the demand by increasing pumping time. But the future network operation requires an increase in pumping capability of 71 litre per minute (lpm) for filling Overhead tank. This study proves that geospatial technology is an efficient, time and cost saving alternative to the traditional methods of design and evaluation of potable water distribution networks.</p>

Abstract:
Provision of Legal Aid is one of the ways the state can achieve access to law and justice for poor people in accordance with what has been mandated by the constitution. The principle of equality before the law in the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP) and Article 27 paragraph (1) of the 1945 Constitution tries to be realized by the state with this legal assistance so that the poor will experience justice in law enforcement in Indonesia. Justice is the right of all Indonesian people. Justice can be obtained by all people, this is contained in the Pancasila Values especially in the 5th (five) precepts which read "Social Justice for All of Indonesia". For the poor who experience legal problems in the form of injustice, they can request legal assistance from legal aid institutions that are regulated in legislation. The purpose of providing legal aid is to guarantee and fulfill the right for Legal Aid Recipients to gain access to justice, to realize the constitutional rights of all citizens in accordance with the principle of equality in law, to ensure the certainty that the implementation of Legal Aid is carried out equally across the territory of the Republic of Indonesia, and to create an effective, efficient and accountable court. The community's right to get free legal assistance (pro-bono) is regulated in Law No. 16 of 2011 concerning Legal Aid. This law regulates the communities receiving legal assistance, grants, and funding as well as legal aid mechanisms.

Abstract:
Well over 90% of studies in biomedical sciences are performed on single animals. While knowledge of the genetics, development and physiology of single individuals accrues, an understanding of the biological mechanisms by which individuals interact has barely budged. Yet many of society's greatest problems derive from an inability of humans to get along with each other. Studies in social neuroscience are primarily observational and rarely employ subjects who physically interact. Thus, social interaction represents a largely unexplored frontier of biology. The neuroscience that underlies social behaviour and interactions can and should be studied using the scientific method. However, a workable and objective definitional framework of sociality is needed for scientific progress in this field. Here we propose a definition that uses a test of independence from the presence of others. The null hypothesis is that a behaviour is independent from the influence of others. Rejection of this null hypothesis means that the actions of an individual depend on the actions of one or more other individuals. This definition has the advantages of not being contaminated by moral judgements or biases in favour of pro-social behaviour, and of being applicable to a wide range of physiological processes. The definition of a social behaviour proposed here says nothing regarding the valence of the behaviour with respect to others. Thus, a behaviour that is influenced by the presence of others may benefit, harm, or have no effect on others. It is hoped that this definitional framework for sociality will facilitate our understanding of the origins and mechanisms of social behaviour among animals including humans as well as offer efficacious approaches to social disorders such as autism.

Abstract:
The achievement of sustainable cities and communities is closely linked to an accurate design of the buildings. In this context, the transparent elements of the building envelope have a crucial role since, on one hand, they are a bottleneck in regards to heat and mass transfers and sound propagation, while, on the other hand, they must allow daylight penetration. Thus, they are responsible for occupants’ thermal and visual comfort and their health. Considering passive solutions for windows, the light shelves can improve natural light penetration, reducing the lights’ electricity demand and controlling windows’ related thermal aspects. The scientific literature is characterized by several studies that analyze this topic, which, however, focus only on the daylight field and sometimes the energy saving for lights. Moreover, they often refer to fixed sky type for the simulations. The aim of the present study is to analyze the application of the light shelves with a multi-disciplinary approach, by means of dynamic simulations, in the EnergyPlus engine, for a whole year. A new methodological approach is presented in order to investigate the technology under different fields of interest: daylight, lighting energy, cooling and heating needs, and thermo-hygrometric comfort. The case study chosen is an existing building, a student dormitory belonging to the University of Athens. It is subject to a deep energy renovation to conform to the “nearly Zero Energy Building” target, in the frame of a European research project called Pro-GET-onE (G.A No. 723747). By means of the calibrated numerical model of this HVAC–building system, ten different configurations of light shelves have been investigated. The best solution is given by the application of an internal horizontal light shelf placed at 50 cm from the top of the window with a depth of 90 or 60 cm. It has been found that despite the reduction in electricity demand for lighting, the variation in heating and cooling needs does not always lead to a benefit.

Abstract:
The traditional ordering of Terence's plays in editions and translations obscures an important fact: the Hecyra was Terence's second play, not the fifth. It has fifth place in the collection because, as the second prologue narrates in some detail, the first two productions were failures, and the order is based on the date of the first successful production rather than on the order of composition. And there is no evidence that the author made any changes to the script; indeed, the prologues suggest quite the opposite. The first deliberately plays on the idea of ‘newness’: when it was given as a nouafabula (‘new play’, If.) it encountered a nouom uitium (‘new/novel disaster’, 2) and is now presented pro noua (‘as if new’, 5). When it was really new it met with a correspondingly new disaster: the tight-rope walker distracted everyone's attention so that no-one saw enough to make any sense of it (neque spectari neque cognosci potuerit, 3), and so we can reasonably assert that it is still new even though technically it isn't. The parallel with Turpio's account in the second prologue of what he did in the case of unsuccessful productions of Caecilius makes this clear: when he first put on new plays by this author he was sometimes driven out of the theatre and at others could scarcely hold his ground (15-17). But as he says he persevered: easdem agere coepi…perfeci ut spectarentur: ubi sunt cognitae,/placitae sunt (‘I undertook to put the same plays on again; I managed to get people to see them, and when they had worked out what was going on, they were a success’, 18, 20f.). The purpose was not to get Caecilius to rewrite the flops but to encourage him to write other new plays; by making successes of what had been flops in the original performance, the producer demonstrates to his scriptwriter that he really has talent after all. It worked for Caecilius and it has worked for Terence, too; now that he has forged a reputation with three more successes in the interim (alias cognostis eius, ‘you’ve understood his other stuff, 8), it is time to give this play the hearing and the appreciation that it has always deserved. (The emphasis on the intelligence required to be an audience member—cognosci, 3; cognostis, 8; cognitae, 20; uostra intelligentia, 31—is of course highly pertinent; this is not a play for populus stupidus, ‘stupid yobs’, 4.)

Fast technological developments in photogrammetry and remote sensing areas demand quick and steady changes in the education programme and its realization. The university teachers and assistants are faced with ensuring the learning materials, data and software for practical lessons, as well as project proposals for student’s team work and bachelor or master thesis. In this paper the emerging topics that already have a considerable impact in the practice are treated mostly from the educational aspect. These relatively new topics that are considered in this paper are unmanned aerial systems for spatial data collection, terrestrial and aerial laser scanning, mobile mapping systems, and novelties in satellite remote sensing. The focus is given to practical implementation of these topics into the teaching and learning programme of Geodesy and Geoinformation at the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Civil and Geodetic Engineering, and experiences gained by the authors so far. Together with the technological advances, the teaching approaches must be modernized as well. Classical approaches of teaching, where a lecturer gives lecture &lt;i&gt;ex cathedra&lt;/i&gt; and students are only listeners, are not effective enough. The didactics science of teaching has developed and proved in the practice many useful approaches that can better motivate students for more active learning. We can use different methods of team work like pro et contra debate, buzzing groups, press conference, moderated discussion etc. An experimental study on active teaching methods in the class of students of the Master programme of Geodesy and Geoinformation has been made and the results are presented. After using some new teaching methods in the class, the students were asked to answer two types of a questionnaire. First questionnaire was the standard form developed by Noel Entwistle, an educational psychologist who developed the Approaches to Studying Inventory (ASI) for identifying deep and surface approaches to learning. The second questionnaire was developed for our purpose to get the feedback from students on active teaching and learning methods. Although this investigation has been done only for one class of master programme students, the results are encouraging and we could extract some recommendations for the future.

Abstract:
Portrait of Herodotus in the light of Plutarch’s treatise De Herodoti malignitate As a Platonist and moralist Plutarch paid particular attention truth. No wonder that in his reference to Herodotus’ Histories he took into consideration the issue of historical truth, which was for him very important — both in its ethical as well as didactic aspect. In his De Herodoti malignitate the Chaeronean moralist is concerned with truth as well as with offering moral uplift. Plutarch presents Herodotus as a perfidious liar who falsely presented such famous and heroic Greeks as Miltiades, Leonidas, Themistocles or Pausanias and — above all — depreciatingly treated the Boeotians and Corinthians. Moreover, Plutarch accuses the historian of Halicarnassus of being malicious (κακοήθεια). For him Herodotus’ lies were deliberate and slandering. Herodotus was also a blasphemer, a pro-barbarian historian; a man who disregarded women. Finally, we get the Plutarchan portrait of Herodotus himself as a blunt barbarian (ὁ ἔσχατος Καρῶν). Such a presentation of Herodotus seems to attest to Plutarch’s own prejudices, if not wickedness. By the same, however, one must take into consideration the literary tradition in which the whole treatise is rooted. So De Herodoti malignitate contains features of historical polemics and is an example of judicial rhetoric, in which the biographer attempts at persuading his readers that his charges against Herodotus are well justified. The treatise is a work representing the new intellectual trend, the so-called Second Sophistic; a polemic written in a period when the Greek intellectuals were deeply engaged in taking issues with past writers. Moreover, a fundamental aspect of De Herodoti malignitate should be taken into account — truth which is analyzed from a moral and psychological perspective. Although a leading motif of the treatise is truthfulness, the direct subject-matter of Plutarch’s considerations remains a lie, or — to put it exactly — lying. Accordingly, the Boeotian moralist singles out and analyses all the fundamental forms of lying. A suitable interpretation of the treatise De Herodoti malignitate depends thus on our knowledge of the cultural distance between Herodotus and Plutarch, although both authors were the representatives of Greek prosa.

Abstract:
Computer-aided design of assembly processes (Computer aided assembly planning, CAAP) of complex products is an important and urgent problem of state-of-the-art information technologies. Intensive research on CAAP has been underway since the 1980s. Meanwhile, specialized design systems were created to provide synthesis of assembly plans and product decompositions into assembly units. Such systems as ASPE, RAPID, XAP / 1, FLAPS, Archimedes, PRELEIDES, HAP, etc. can be given, as an example. These experimental developments did not get widespread use in industry, since they are based on the models of products with limited adequacy and require an expert’s active involvement in preparing initial information. The design tools for the state-of-the-art full-featured CAD/CAM systems (Siemens NX, Dassault CATIA and PTC Creo Elements / Pro), which are designed to provide CAAP, mainly take into account the geometric constraints that the design imposes on design solutions. These systems often synthesize technologically incorrect assembly sequences in which known technological heuristics are violated, for example orderliness in accuracy, consistency with the system of dimension chains, etc.An AssemBL software application package has been developed for a structured analysis of products and a synthesis of assembly plans and decompositions. The AssemBL uses a hyper-graph model of a product that correctly describes coherent and sequential assembly operations and processes. In terms of the hyper-graph model, an assembly operation is described as shrinkage of edge, an assembly plan is a sequence of shrinkages that converts a hyper-graph into the point, and a decomposition of product into assembly units is a hyper-graph partition into sub-graphs.The AssemBL solves the problem of minimizing the number of direct checks for geometric solvability when assembling complex products. This task is posed as a plus-sum two-person game of bicoloured brushing of an ordered set. In the paradigm of this model, the brushing operation is to check a certain structured fragment for solvability by collision detection methods. A rational brushing strategy minimizes the number of such checks. The package is integrated into the Siemens NX 10.0 computer-aided design system. This solution allowed us to combine specialized AssemBL tools with a developed toolkit of one of the most powerful and popular integrated CAD/CAM /CAE systems.
