Résumé:Dans cet article, nous formalisons deux critères de décisions qui tentent de rendre compte de deux logiques différentes d'interprétation du Principe de précaution. Le premier critère correspond à la maximisation du minimum de l'espérance d'utilité alors que le second critère correspond à la minimisation du maximum de l'espérance de regret. Les deux critères de décisions sont appliqués à un problème économique où l'incertitude est mesurée par une famille de probabilités. Nous montrons qu'il existe un intervalle de probabilités sur lequel les choix relatifs aux deux critères divergent. Plus particulièrement, nous montrons que sur cet intervalle, le second critère à la différence du premier, conduit toujours à retenir la décision la plus précautionneuse, les décisions étant identiques sur les autres intervalles.

Abstract:
Les données hyperspectrales se caractérisent par une importante dimension spectrale qui atteint quelques centaines de bandes étroites et contigües. Le volume occupé par ces images est non négligeable et fait que des taches usuelles telles que : le stockage, le traitement et l'analyse soient alourdies. Pour pallier ce problème et garantir une meilleure exploitation de ces données, nous proposons par le présent article, une méthode de réduction qui vise à créer un espace de représentation de dimension moindre, informatif et libéré des redondances tout en préservant la signification physique des bandes.Vu le pouvoir de séparation de l'analyse en composantes indépendantes «ACI», reconnu dans le cas des données multidimensionnelles à grand volume, nous l'exploitons pour extraire un ensemble de composantes statistiquement indépendantes obtenues par la minimisation de la gaussiannité. Différents degrés d'importance sont affectés aux bandes spectrales, permettant leur classement. Finalement, nous appliquons une sélection à l'ensemble des bandes classées et nous retenons les plus informatives afin de construire l'espace de représentation spectral réduit. Pour nos tests, nous avons appliqué l'ACI en considérant d'une part, une orthogonalisation à déflation (poursuite de projections, composantes ordonnées) et d'autre part, une orthogonalisation symétrique (estimation globale, composantes désordonnées). On suggère pour le cas symétrique, d'ajuster les données originales à un bruit additif afin d'obtenir des composantes indépendantes ordonnées (suivant le rapport signal à bruit). Les résultats recueillis montrent que la méthode proposée assure la réduction du cube hyperspectral avec d'acceptables rapports dimension-représentativité.

This paper is devoted to the study of the links between stationary sequence and minimising sequence for constrained minimisation problems. The constraint set is not supposed to be convex and no differentiability assumption is made on the objective function. New tools are developed in this general framework and we prove a necessary and a sufficient condition for such problems to have a “constrained asymptotical well behaviour” (that is, each stationary sequence is a minimising sequence). Our work extend that of Auslender, Cominetti and Crouzeix.

AbstractIn this paper, we present sufficient conditions for global optimality of a general nonconvex smooth minimisation model problem involving linear matrix inequality constraints with bounds on the variables. The linear matrix inequality constraints are also known as “semidefinite” constraints which arise in many applications, especially in control system analysis and design. Due to the presence of nonconvex objective functions such minimisation problems generally have many local minimisers which are not global minimisers. We develop conditions for identifying global minimisers of the model problem by first constructing a (weighted sum of squares) quadratic underestimator for the twice continuously differentiable objective function of the minimisation problem and then by characterising global minimisers of the easily tractable underestimator over the same feasible region of the original problem. We apply the results to obtain global optimality conditions for optinusation problems with discrete constraints.

On étudie l'unicité pour le problème de minimisation de la fonctionnelle qui intervient dans le modèle de Landau-Lifshitz pour le ferromagnétisme. Sous certaines hypothèses sur le champ extérieur, on caractérise tous les cas de non unicité. Cette caractérisation prend une forme simple et explicite pour les applications a images dans la sphère de dimension deux. On applique le résultat général pour certains problèmes concrets, notamment en présence de la symétrie axiale. Dans la dernière partie de cette thèse, on applique nos techniques pour l'étude du problème avec condition au bord<br>We study the uniqueness problem for minimizers of the Landau-Lifshitz model in ferromagnetism. Under certain assumptions on the external field, we characterize all the cases where the uniqueness fails to hold. This characterization takes a very explicit and simple form when the impage of the maps lies in two-dimentional sphere. We apply the general result for some concrete problems, notably in the presence of axial symmetry. In the last part of the thesis we apply our techniques for the study of a problem with boundary data

Le codage parcimonieux permet la reconstruction d'un signal à partir de quelques projections linéaires de celui-ci, sous l'hypothèse que le signal se décompose de manière parcimonieuse, c'est-à-dire avec peu de coefficients, sur un dictionnaire connu. Le codage est simple, et la complexité est déportée sur la reconstruction. Après une explication détaillée du fonctionnement du codage parcimonieux, une présentation de quelques résultats théoriques et quelques simulations pour cerner les performances envisageables, nous nous intéressons à trois problèmes : d'abord, l'étude de conception d'un système permettant le codage d'un signal par une matrice binaire, et des avantages apportés par une telle implémentation. Ensuite, nous nous intéressons à la détermination du dictionnaire de représentation parcimonieuse du signal par des méthodes d'apprentissage. Enfin, nous discutons la possibilité d'effectuer des opérations comme la classification sur le signal sans le reconstruire.

Cette thèse porte sur un problème de mécanique spatiale, un transfert orbital à poussée faible, autour de la Terre, avec maximisation de la masse finale. La difficulté de ce problème vient des discontinuités de la commande optimale et du fait que les instants de commutations ne sont pas connus (nombre et localisation). La méthode du tir simple devenant particulièrement sensible à l'initialisation, on paramètre le critère du problème pour relier la minimisation de l'énergie à la minimisation de la consommation. La fonction de tir résultant de la paramétrisation définit alors une homotopie dont le chemin de zéros est suivi par une méthode de continuation différentielle. Une seconde homotopie, discrète celle-ci, permet d'affranchir complètement notre méthode de toute connaissance à priori sur la structure de la commande optimale, d'autant plus que le nombre de commutations peut être très important (plus de 1000 pour une poussée de 0. 1 N et un satellite de 1500 kg). Cette méthode de résolution est implantée dans un logiciel et appliquée avec succès a notre problème. Les résultats obtenus permettent de mettre en évidence un grand nombre de lois empiriques comme par exemple l'indépendance de l'évolution de la masse finale par rapport a la poussée maximale.

Le problème de Zolotarev pour des ensembles discrets apparaît pour décrire le taux de convergence de la méthode ADI, dans l'approximation de certaines fonctions matricielles ou encore pour quantifier le taux de décroissance des valeurs singulières de certaines matrices structurées. De plus, la réduction de modèle constitue un enjeu important en théorie du contrôle linéaire, et on peut prédire la qualité de l'approximation d'un système dynamique linéaire continu stationnaire de grande dimension donné grâce à la résolution approchée d'une équation de Sylvester. Après avoir prouvé l'existence d'un minimiseur pour le troisième problème de Zolotarev pour des ensembles discrets, on détermine dans cette thèse le comportement asymptotique faible de ce problème sous certaines hypothèses de régularité. Pour mener cette étude, on considère un problème de minimisation d'énergie sous contraintes pour des mesures signées en théorie du potentiel logarithmique. On discute également la précision de nos résultats asymptotiques pour des ensembles discrets généraux du plan complexe, et une formule intégrale explicite est établie dans le cas particulier de deux sous-ensembles discrets de l'axe réel symétriques par rapport à l'origine. L'impact de nos résultats théoriques pour l'analyse du taux de convergence de la méthode ADI appliquée pour la résolution approchée d'une équation de Lyapounov est estimé à l'aide de plusieurs exemples numériques après avoir exposé l'algorithme nous permettant d'obtenir les paramètres utilisés.

Cette thèse s'inscrit dans le domaine de l'apprentissage statistique et dans celui des expériences simulées (computer experiments). Son objet est de proposer un cadre général permettant d'estimer les paramètres d'un code de simulation numérique de façon à reproduire au mieux certaines caractéristiques d'intérêt extraites de données observées. Ce travail recouvre le cadre classique de l'estimation paramétrique dans un modèle de régression et également la calibration de la densité de probabilité des variables d'entrée d'un code numérique afin de reproduire une loi de probabilité donnée en sortie. Une partie importante de ce travail consiste dans l'estimation paramétrique d'un code numérique à partir d'observations. Nous proposons une classe de méthode originale nécessitant une simulation intensive du code numérique, que l'on remplacera par un méta-modèle s'il est trop coûteux. Nous validons théoriquement les algorithmes proposés du point de vue non-asymptotique, en prouvant des bornes sur l'excès de risque. Ces résultats reposent entres autres sur des inégalités de concentration. Un second problème que nous abordons est celui de l'étude d'une dualité entre procédure d'estimation et nature de la prédiction recherchée. Il s'agit ici de mieux comprendre l'effet d'une procédure d'estimation des paramètres d'un code numérique sur une caractéristique d'intérêt donnée. Enfin, en pratique la détermination des paramètres optimaux au sens du critère donné par le risque empirique nécessite la recherche du minimum d'une fonction généralement non convexe et possédant plusieurs minima locaux. Nous proposons un algorithme stochastique consistant à combiner une régularisation du critère par convolution avec un noyau gaussien, de variance décroissante au fil des itérations, avec une méthode d'approximation stochastique du type Kiefer-Wolfowitz<br>This thesis work consists in gathering statistical learning theory with the field of computer experiments. As the considered computer codes are only known through simulations, we propose an original statistical framework, including the classical ones, which takes into account the simulation aspect. We investigate learning algorithms for parameter estimation in computer codes which depend on both observed and simulation data. We validate these algorithms by proving excess risk bounds using concentration inequalities. We also study the duality between the estimation procedure and the wanted feature prediction. Here, we try to understand the impact of an estimation procedure on some given characteristic of the phenomenon of interest. Finally, the computation of optimal parameters in practice involves the minimization of a criterion which is generally highly non convex and with irregularities. We propose a stochastic algorithm which consists in combining regularization methods with a stochastic approximation method like the Kiefer-Wolfowitz one

Mots clés : Théorie du potentiel<br>The Zolotarev problem with respect to discrete sets arises naturally to describe both the convergence rate of the ADI method, to compute approximation of various functions of matrices and to quantify the decreasing rate of singular values of structured matrices. Moreover, the theory of model reduction is a key problem in linear control theory, and the quality of the approximation of continuous stationnary linear dynamical system might be predicted with the computation of the solution of a Sylvester equation. Once proved the existence of a minimizer for the third Zolotarev problem with respect to discrete sets, we give the weak asymptotic behaviour of the Zolotarev quantity under some regularity hypothesis. In this purpose, we introduce a problem of energy minimization with constraints in logarithmic potential theory with respect to signed measures. We discuss the accuracy of our results for general discrete sets in the complex plane, and we prove an explicit integral formula in the particular case of two discret subsets of the real axis symmetric with respect to the imaginary axis. Then, the impact of our theoretical results concerning the analysis of the convergence rate of the ADI method applied to solve a Sylvester equation is estimated with various numerical examples after the description of the algorithm which we used to compute the parameters

Le smile de volatilité implicite observé sur les marchés d'options traduit l'insuffisance du modèle de Black et Scholes. Avec la nécessité d'élaborer un modèle d'actif financier plus satisfaisant, vient celle de sa calibration, objet de cette thèse. <br />La calibration de modèles financiers par minimisation de lentropie relative a été proposée récemment dans le cadre de la méthode de Monte Carlo. On a étudié la convergence et la stabilité de cette méthode et on a étendu les résultats à des critères plus généraux que lentropie relative. La prise en compte des contraintes sur le sous-jacent assurant labsence dopportunité darbitrage a été abordée sous langle dun problème de moments.<br />Dans la seconde partie, on a considéré un modèle simple du phénomène de krach en introduisant en particulier des sauts dans la volatilité du sous-jacent. On a calculé le risque quadratique et effectué un développement approché du smile utile pour la calibration.<br />Finalement, dans la troisième partie, on utilise lentropie relative pour calibrer lintensité des sauts dun modèle de diffusion avec sauts et volatilité locale. La stabilité de la méthode a été prouvée grâce à des techniques de contrôle optimal ainsi quau théorème des fonctions implicites.

Abstract:
Les problèmes d’optimisation combinatoire sont généralement réputés NP-difficiles, donc il n’y a pas d’algorithmes efficaces pour les résoudre. Afin de trouver des solutions optimales locales ou réalisables, on utilise souvent des heuristiques ou des algorithmes approchés. Les dernières décennies ont vu naitre des méthodes approchées connues sous le nom de métaheuristiques, et qui permettent de trouver une solution approchées. Cette thèse propose de résoudre des problèmes d’optimisation déterministe et stochastique à l’aide de métaheuristiques. Nous avons particulièrement étudié la méthode de voisinage variable connue sous le nom de VNS. Nous avons choisi cet algorithme pour résoudre nos problèmes d’optimisation dans la mesure où VNS permet de trouver des solutions de bonne qualité dans un temps CPU raisonnable. Le premier problème que nous avons étudié dans le cadre de cette thèse est le problème déterministe de largeur de bande de matrices creuses. Il s’agit d’un problème combinatoire difficile, notre VNS a permis de trouver des solutions comparables à celles de la littérature en termes de qualité des résultats mais avec temps de calcul plus compétitif. Nous nous sommes intéressés dans un deuxième temps aux problèmes de réseaux mobiles appelés OFDMA-TDMA. Nous avons étudié le problème d’affectation de ressources dans ce type de réseaux, nous avons proposé deux modèles : Le premier modèle est un modèle déterministe qui permet de maximiser la bande passante du canal pour un réseau OFDMA à débit monodirectionnel appelé Uplink sous contraintes d’énergie utilisée par les utilisateurs et des contraintes d’affectation de porteuses. Pour ce problème, VNS donne de très bons résultats et des bornes de bonne qualité. Le deuxième modèle est un problème stochastique de réseaux OFDMA d’affectation de ressources multi-cellules. Pour résoudre ce problème, on utilise le problème déterministe équivalent auquel on applique la méthode VNS qui dans ce cas permet de trouver des solutions avec un saut de dualité très faible. Les problèmes d’allocation de ressources aussi bien dans les réseaux OFDMA ou dans d’autres domaines peuvent aussi être modélisés sous forme de problèmes d’optimisation bi-niveaux appelés aussi problèmes d’optimisation hiérarchique. Le dernier problème étudié dans le cadre de cette thèse porte sur les problèmes bi-niveaux stochastiques. Pour résoudre le problème lié à l’incertitude dans ce problème, nous avons utilisé l’optimisation robuste plus précisément l’approche appelée « distributionnellement robuste ». Cette approche donne de très bons résultats légèrement conservateurs notamment lorsque le nombre de variables du leader est très supérieur à celui du suiveur. Nos expérimentations ont confirmé l’efficacité de nos méthodes pour l’ensemble des problèmes étudiés<br>Combinatorial optimization problems are generally NP-hard problems, so they can only rely on heuristic or approximation algorithms to find a local optimum or a feasible solution. During the last decades, more general solving techniques have been proposed, namely metaheuristics which can be applied to many types of combinatorial optimization problems. This PhD thesis proposed to solve the deterministic and stochastic optimization problems with metaheuristics. We studied especially Variable Neighborhood Search (VNS) and choose this algorithm to solve our optimization problems since it is able to find satisfying approximated optimal solutions within a reasonable computation time. Our thesis starts with a relatively simple deterministic combinatorial optimization problem: Bandwidth Minimization Problem. The proposed VNS procedure offers an advantage in terms of CPU time compared to the literature. Then, we focus on resource allocation problems in OFDMA systems, and present two models. The first model aims at maximizing the total bandwidth channel capacity of an uplink OFDMA-TDMA network subject to user power and subcarrier assignment constraints while simultaneously scheduling users in time. For this problem, VNS gives tight bounds. The second model is stochastic resource allocation model for uplink wireless multi-cell OFDMA Networks. After transforming the original model into a deterministic one, the proposed VNS is applied on the deterministic model, and find near optimal solutions. Subsequently, several problems either in OFDMA systems or in many other topics in resource allocation can be modeled as hierarchy problems, e.g., bi-level optimization problems. Thus, we also study stochastic bi-level optimization problems, and use robust optimization framework to deal with uncertainty. The distributionally robust approach can obtain slight conservative solutions when the number of binary variables in the upper level is larger than the number of variables in the lower level. Our numerical results for all the problems studied in this thesis show the performance of our approaches

Abstract:
Nous considèrerons ici les modèles linéaires de multiflots, en mettant l'accent sur leurs multiples applications, notamment dans les domaines de l'ordonnancement et de la gestion de production. Il est bien connu que ces problèmes, présentés sous forme de programmes linéaires, sont difficiles à résoudre, contrairement à leurs homologues en flot simple. Les méthodes de résolution classiques proposent, déjà dans le cas continu, des solutions approchées. On distingue: les méthodes de décomposition par les prix, par les ressources, ainsi que les techniques de partitionnement. Si l'on rajoute la contrainte d'intégralité sur les flots, ces problèmes deviennent extrêmement difficiles. Nous nous sommes intéressés à un cas particulier des problèmes de multiflots, à savoir: le biflot entier de coût minimum. Nous avons développé une approche de résolution heuristique basée sur un principe de décomposition mixte, opérant itérativement, à la fois par une allocation de ressources et par un ajustement des coûts. L'implémentation de cette approche met en évidence des résultats prometteurs, obtenus sur des problèmes de biflot purs, générés aléatoirement. Nous avons donc envisagé une deuxième application sur des problèmes de biflot plus structurés. Ces problèmes de biflot ont été proposés pour la modélisation du problème de voyageur de commerce. Cette application débouche d'une part, sur l'utilisation d'un algorithme de recherche d'un circuit hamiltonien dans un graphe, et d'autre part, sur le développement de techniques heuristiques pour la construction de tournées intéressantes

Traffic congestions present a major challenge in large cities. Consid- ering the distributed, self-interested nature oftraffic we tackle congestions using multiagent reinforcement learning (MARL). In this thesis, we advance the state- of-the-art by delivering the first MARL convergence guarantees in congestion- like problems. We introduce an algorithm through which drivers can learn opti- mal routes by locally estimating the regret associated with their decisions, which we prove to converge to an equilibrium. In order to mitigate the effects ofselfish- ness, we also devise a decentralised tolling scheme, which we prove to minimise traffic congestion levels. Our theoretical results are supported by an extensive empirical evaluation on realistic traffic networks. 1.

Abstract In the present paper, two different updating techniques are compared: the FRU-IT method, based on the minimisation of the force residual through a deterministic approach, and the GAME-UP method based on the minimisation of the output residual, using genetic algorithms. FRU-IT method, as most of the deterministic approaches presented in the literature, is strongly affected by measurement errors, that propagate in the solution and require sophisticated regularisation techniques. The use of genetic algorithms, that find the solution in a heuristic way by simulating an evolution process and require only the definition of fitness indicators, allows to bypass this problem. Results, obtained by solving an experimental test case, confirm that the use of genetic algorithms is a valid alternative to traditional methods.

One of the modern education problems being investigated is a phenomenon of student procrastination and minimisation of its influence on achievement of career goals. A transformative pedagogical experiment was carried out involving 1st year engineering students of Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies during the 2018/2019 academic year. The aim of the transformative pedagogical experiment was to promote the reduction of student procrastination levels and achievement of their goals by practical experimental approbation of a career education program. During the experiment, self-evaluation of student procrastination was performed before and after the implementation of the career education program. The methodology included 20 indicators of procrastination self-evaluation. The program included three topic-based parts: 1) understanding and setting student career goals; 2) defining procrastination levels and factors; 3) the influence of procrastination minimisation on career goals’ achievement. The study results allowed to conclude that due to the career education program elaborated and implemented in practice, substantial changes in student procrastination self-evaluation took place during the transformative pedagogical experiment. There was a significant difference in student procrastination levels before and after the transformative pedagogical experiment. The study results demonstrated that the elaborated and experimentally implemented career education program is valid and can be further used for minimisation of student procrastination, it can contribute to career goals’ achievement and for the reduction of early discontinuation of studies and dropping out of university as there is a correlation between procrastination and dropout phenomena.

Abstract It Is shown in this paper that, once the problem of designing dynamically optimal mechanisms is formulated as a constrained minimisation problem, genetic algorithms provide a procedure for solving this design problem which is very powerful but also very simple. These general results are illustrated by the genetic optimisation of a particular four-bar linkage that was previously optimised non-genetlcally. However, It is pointed out that the genetic design methodology described in this paper can in principle be used to minimise any desired combination of forces and couples in any mechanism.

Abstract Optical motion capturing explains the three-Dimensional (3D) position estimation of points through triangulation employing several depth cameras. Prosperous performance relies on level of visibility of points from different cameras and the overlap of captured meshes in-between. Generally, the accuracy of the estimation is practically based on the camera parameters e.g., location and orientations. Accordingly, the camera network configurations play a key role in the quality of the estimated mesh. This paper proposes an optimal approach for camera placement based on characteristics of a depth camera D435i - Intel RealSense. The optimal problem includes a cost function that contains several minimisation and maximisation terms. The minimisation terms are distance of the cameras to the center of the scanning object, resolution error, and sparsity. And the maximisation terms are distance between each two pair of cameras, percent of captured point from an object, and the level of overlap between cameras. The object is designed based on practical experiments of human walking and is a bounding box around one step of dynamic foot work-space from heel strike posture to toe-off posture. The accuracy and robustness of the algorithms are assessed via experiment measurement, and sensitivity to the number of cameras is investigated. Accordingly, the experiment results determined that the scanning accuracy can be as high as 2.5 % based on a reference scan with a high-end scanner (Artec Eva).
