Full textLean thinking has historically been applied in the improvement of manufacturing processes, in order to achieve efficiencies through the reduction of waste. However, progress in the application of such thinking in other environments has been limited, leaving this field of research as an opportunity to expand the literature of Lean philosophy. The purpose of this research project is to improve administrative processes using the variant of the Lean philosophy known as Lean Office. In the development, the main administrative processes of a company in the financial services sector were analyzed, in order to understand what the processes wastes are, the activities that add value and the flow of information. In the proposal, a model based on Lean Office Kaizen has been developed, aiming at the continuous elimination of waste and activities that do not generate value to achieve a leaner process, gaining greater competitiveness and reducing costs.

Full textThe present paper presents a model that combines tools such as SLP (5), Standardization of methods and Preventive Maintenance for the reduction of waste in the manufacture of non-metallic minerals. This RMI production sector (Industrial Rocks and Minerals) has a high growth potential. Around 5 to 20 million MT was produced in the 70s, 80s and 90s, and it increased between 25 and 100 million MT annually in the present millennium in Peru. The problem that is sought to attack is the high amount of material that is wasted in the production process in small and medium-sized companies in that sector. With the validation carried out on our model, results of a reduction of material waste from 135.1 tons / year to 55.6 tons / year were obtained. This meant a waste reduction of 58.8%. The implementation of 5's until the standardization stage indirectly impacted the other components. The result obtained with the design redesign model was from 46.1 tons / year to 16.32 tons / year (65%), the redesign reduces the travel distances with material, which generates less waste in transport. In addition, a reduction of 35 tons / year to 10.5 tons / year (70%) is validated with the pilot of the definition and standardization of the prior rock breakage method. Also, the preventive maintenance pilot to the cyclone dust extractor, often less stopped and valid than waste is reduced from 54 tons / year to 28.8 tons / year (46.7%).

Full textThis thesis presents the situation of a company that is dedicated to the manufacture of plastic bags, which currently has delays in its production whose consequence comes from: missing raw materials, defective and reprocessed products. That is why, since there are no standardized methods or tools in the production flow, it entails the delay in the delivery times of the product to the customer, which was 41.67% unpunctual deliveries in 2016. Through the application of the different proposed methodologies it is possible to solve the different causes, with the aim of reducing the deliveries at the wrong time. To analyze the effect of the methodologies proposed in the company, the simulation technique was used. Of which, a reduction of the defective products index was obtained from 18% to 10%, reprocessed products index from 7% to 3% and an increase in the replacement accuracy of raw material from 65% to 90%, thus giving an increase in the delivery deadline index from 58% to 95%. Likewise, in order to determine if the project is viable and profitable, a financial study was carried out considering the costs that must be incurred to carry out the project. In this case, the project is viable according to the economic and financial analysis, since the Net Present Value of S / 36,529, the Internal Rate of Return of 31.45% and the Return on Investment Period in the sixth month are obtained the project started.

Full textOur research addresses the phenomenon of efficiency in the repair services of light vehicle breakdowns within an automotive dealership dedicated to the sale and after-sale services of this type of vehicles located in Peru, in a consistent way with the application of specific improvement techniques; namely, the Lean Manufacturing methodology budgets were used. The core objective achieved by our study is to set procedures for improving compliance with the delivery deadlines in the after-sales repair services of vehicles breakdowns to customers, within the procedural framework in accordance with the requirements of the automotive industry. The method was determined within the situational diagnosis framework of the automotive company, in which the study was carried out based in the specific guidelines of the PDCA cycle (Plan, Do, Check and Action), which its defined as a problem solving model that uses inputs or engineering tools and techniques such as Pareto Chart, Problem Tree and Objective Tree methods, among others, so that the achievement of results is based in the quantitative hierarchy of the most pressing problems within the service, in addition to the factors measurement that allows the identification of root causes of the different problems that appears in the execution of the repair services. Strictly speaking, it is an empirical work, since the analysis was done with real information derived from the company, in addition to the measurements that were taken within the repair service area, from which was obtain, as a the main obstacle, the low efficiency of the repair service. The evaluation of the problem resulted in the proposal of a model in accordance with the necessities and demands of the repair service, whose axis is the Lean Manufacturing tools set, which allowed the generation of improvement procedures in different processes. As for the solution instruments used in the study, these are based on the identification of the specific causes that result from the main problem, that is, the low efficiency in the execution of the repairs of the company. Thus, regarding the inadequate procedures used in the service, a standardization tool was proposed; regarding the lack of work planning within the services workshop, a set of tools such as Heijunka, Pull-Tack Time System, Jidoka and a visual control, among others, was proposed. These tools were used as efficiency improvement instruments within the repair service area. As a result of the evident improvements, there are also technical and economic proof that sets the decision-making regarding the execution of suitable procedures for the achievement of an effective service; So, the cost of implementing these improvements is 101,843 soles and the net present value (NPV) obtained is 129,488 soles, which supports the profitability, derived product of our research work.

Full textThe printing sector in Peru constantly faces the need to reduce production time because late deliveries to the customer owing to high manufacturing time are critical problems. Previous studies have proposed using the lean manufacturing philosophy to reduce idle times by improving the flow of information within the production processes in large manufacturing companies but not printing SMEs using these tools in a make-to-order environment. This document focuses on implementing an affordable lean manufacturing model in an SME company with a make-to-order environment to reduce its manufacturing times. Therefore, the Kanban, Single Minute Exchange of Dies (SMED), and value stream mapping (VSM) processes will be adapted for implementation in these companies. Then, the model is validated through its application in a case study; through process simulation, production times were reduced by 24% for an SME, delivering all orders on time, and eliminating 100% penalty costs for late orders.

Full textLean, Six Sigma and TOC are methodologies that focus on continuous improvement and have been applied in different industries separately. However, there are a few studies that show the great influence of these three tools synergizing to improve performance and productivity in the environments where these are applied. This paper presents an empirical model denominated 6TOCwhere the three methodologies are combined. The model is based on the five steps of TOC using Lean and Six Sigma tools to identify the value flow in the processes, eliminate unprofitable activities and control variability in the critical process. Using these, it is possible to reduce production times and costs, allowing a 6% increase in productivity and raise the sigma level in 4 of the SMEs that produce wooden furniture in Peru. We conclude that 6TOC is a mighty tool adapted to the wooden furniture sector to achieve continuous improvement.

Full textToday, more and more people are choosing to rent or buy a home. Along with this demand, the furniture sector is activated, which is required to equip this new space thanks to the supply of their products. The company Decorec SAC manufactures chairs, furniture and sofas, among other products for the home, which are totally personalized. Currently, it has several disadvantages with the fulfillment of the production program in the established times, which are reflected in late deliveries to the customer, generating penalties and the use of extra resources. This project shows that the improvement proposal model based on the Lean Manufacturing methodology is capable of reversing the current situation. The methodology starts with the VSM (Value Stream Mapping) diagnosis in order to find the bottleneck process of the current situation. To do this, we rely on the timing of each process related to the product under evaluation. With the bottleneck detected and the analysis of the problem, the procedure to be followed to achieve the solution is established. The stages of the improvement proposal are defined by: Selection of new raw material supplier, Training in Lean Manufacturing, Line Balance, Application of 5s System, Andon Implementation, Poka Yoke Implementation, Implementation of Order Prioritization and Optimization of Raw Material Use. The methodology was validated in a simulation using Arena Software. And thanks to the results, it was possible to verify important savings in time, costs and decreases in late shipments to customers, in addition to achieving the implementation of good practices in the management of business processes.

Full textIn the current context, Peruvian logistics has shown a major blow to the Covid-19 pandemic, however it represents a great opportunity for improvement as new service protocols, high demand for distribution services will be implemented in the face of digital orders of different types of products and activation of investment projects. Therefore, certain problems that hinder the rapid distribution of products in the logistics sector must be reduced. One of the problems that has been identified is the low efficiency of the logistics processes, where it lies from the receipt of the goods to their delivery to the final customer, causing incidents and this reflected in penalties. In this sense, the main objective of this research is the proposal for improvement based on Lean Logistics through a Kaizen approach to increase the on-time distribution operations of a logistics operator in Peru. Our proposed model is the integration of Lean Logistics tools: VSM, 5S, SMED, and Standardization of the working method, through kaizen continuous improvement. While it is true, using them individually results in a positive result, joining them with this result improves even more since they complement each other for a more efficient improvement. For this reason, our research will provide the Latino scientific community with a new model for the processes of this sector where they will raise their percentage of delivery time to 90% with an incidence rate of 30% and set up time of 1 hour.

[EN] Design teams of construction projects are composed of different stakeholders; this fact could make the interactions difficult. BIM and Lean methodologies have a positive impact on construction projects. Besides, there is evidence of the combined implementation of BIM and Lean; however, it is not known the empirical relationship between Lean practices and BIM uses in the design phase. Also, there is not a deeper understanding of the social phenomena that are generated among design teams when BIM-Lean management methodologies are implemented. Therefore, the objective of this research is to understand the impact of Lean design management (LDM) practices, and BIM uses in the interaction of construction project design teams. The research method has two phases: (1) the creation of tools to assess the level of implementation of LDM practices and BIM uses and to understand the interactions in a design team; and (2) the relationship analyses between BIM, Lean, and interaction, based on empirical information from construction projects in the design phase. The results present a BIM uses assessment tool and an LDM practices questionnaire to measure the design management and a method to understand the different types of interaction in a design team. Based on data from 64 projects, a chi-square analysis revealed 33 empirical relationships between BIM uses and LDM practices; also, the application of BIM uses implies a greater application of LDM practices. The project that applies BIM-Lean management achieves many interactions among its design team; transparent, orderly, and standardized information flows; a collaborative, trust, and learning environment; and commitment management. All these interaction elements are not visible in the project, where BIM-lean management was not applied.
