Abstract:
AbstractThe cases challenging the European Stability Mechanism in Eurozone creditor states show the concern courts have with protecting and promoting democratic contestation. This Article shows how John Hart Ely’s theory of process-based review provides the theoretical basis for understanding how attention to democratic contestation contributes to the legitimacy of courts reviewing legislation against constitutional norms. By focusing on promoting democratic procedures, Ely argues that courts can avoid substantive decisions that are best left to the legislature. Yet, as my discussion of the constitutional theory of constituent and constituted powers shows, no form of constituted power can avoid some exercise of constituent power. In other words, even a process-based approach cannot avoid substantive judgments. The legitimacy of these decisions depends on the availability of avenues for contestation in the judicial decision-making process itself.

Abstract:
Abstract Nowadays the use of conventional wastewater treatment methods is becoming increasingly challenging mainly due to the presence of organic matter in wastewater. Therefore, an emerging technology is needed to deal with these highly concentrated and toxic non-biodegradable organic matters. In the last few decades, advanced oxidation process (AOP) has emerged to treat wastewaters discharged from industries. Recently, researchers have shown interest to use the application of ultrasound (US) in photocatalysis, i.e. sonophotocatalysis, to improve the performance of the treatment process in the degradation of organic and inorganic contaminants in aqueous streams. Sonophotocatalysis is the combination of the use of ultraviolet (UV) and US.

Abstract:
It is important to reliably conduct reviews and tests to assure the quality of software. In particular, reviewing design specifications raises the degree of completion of documents at each process step and leads to securing the quality of the final product. In addition, if review is done sufficiently, it would lead to productivity improvement by reducing backtrack work done to correct defects detected during development. For our quality improvement policy, the standard value of review efforts, which is one of our process metrics, has been implemented, helping the review process to be carried out reliably. However, this does not mean that the more hours spent on review, the higher the quality becomes. Therefore, we considered what factors other than review efforts assure review quality. We also considered ways to measure the product metrics of a review, obtained from the information obtained from the text of a review record, that have an influence on design quality. In a study on past reviews, there were few cases of quality engineering approaches done through human factor analysis and process evaluation and improvement approaches, but there seemed to be few cases of methods using product metrics with review records. In this paper, we analyzed the factors that influence design quality from the metrics obtained from the information of a review record.

Abstract:
Introduction: Semantic Process Mining is the extension field of process mining that is based on getting knowledge of conceptual event logs (based on ontologies) for analyzing frequent and rare processes. In the healthcare studies, semantic process mining has been used in different hospitals in order to improve processes.Material and Methods: A review of the usages of semantic process mining in hospitals is done. This review contains 65 articles from PubMed, dblp and Google scholar. It is searched from 2000 to 2017. One of them was duplicated and finally, we received 64 articles. Data were extracted according to PRISMA guidelines. Results: Out of 64 articles, 6 of them were related with inclusion and exclusion criteria. Most of them detect business process mining. In 80% of studies, the semantic process mining was useful and effective to improve hospital processes and improve its management. Conclusion: This review can show an overview the application of process mining in hospitals. It can help researchers to compare semantic process mining with other methods for improving processes in hospitals and finally, it shows the use of semantic process mining to enhance hospitals processes.

Abstract:
Traditionally, ritual has been studied from broad sociocultural perspectives, with little consideration of the psychological processes at play. Recently, however, psychologists have begun turning their attention to the study of ritual, uncovering the causal mechanisms driving this universal aspect of human behavior. With growing interest in the psychology of ritual, this article provides an organizing framework to understand recent empirical work from social psychology, cognitive science, anthropology, behavioral economics, and neuroscience. Our framework focuses on three primary regulatory functions of rituals: regulation of (a) emotions, (b) performance goal states, and (c) social connection. We examine the possible mechanisms underlying each function by considering the bottom-up processes that emerge from the physical features of rituals and top-down processes that emerge from the psychological meaning of rituals. Our framework, by appreciating the value of psychological theory, generates novel predictions and enriches our understanding of ritual and human behavior more broadly.

Abstract:
Electrospinning is a very simple and versatile process by which polymer nanofibers with diameters ranging from a few nanometers to several micrometers can be produced using an electrostatically driven jet of polymer solution (or polymer melt). Significant progress has been made in this process throughout the last decade and the resultant nanostructures have been exploited to a wide range of applications. An important feature of the electrospinning process is that electrospinning nanofibers are produced in atmospheric air and at room temperature. This paper reviews the assembled polyacrylonitrile (PAN)-based carbon nanofibers with various processing parameters such as electrical potential, distance between capillary and collector drum, solution flow rate (dope extrusion rate), and concentration of polymer solution. The average fiber diameter would increase with increasing concentration of the polymer solution and the flow rate. Therefore, the screen distance could also increase but the average electrical potential of the fibers diameter decreases. Electrospinning process can be conducted at higher electrical potentials, lower flow rate, nearer screen distance, and higher concentrations of dope.

Abstract:
Cyber–physical systems (CPSs) are generally considered to be the next generation of engineered systems. However, the actual application of CPSs in the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry is still at a low level. The sensing method in the construction process plays a very important role in the establishment of CPSs. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to discuss the application potential of computer vision-based sensing methods and provide practical suggestions through a literature review. This paper provides a review of the current application of CPSs in the AEC industry, summarizes the current knowledge gaps, and discusses the problems with the current construction site sensing approach. Considering the unique advantages of the computer vision (CV) method at the construction site, the application of CV for different construction entities was reviewed and summarized to achieve a CV-based construction site sensing approach for construction process CPSs. The potential of CPS can be further stimulated by providing rich information from on-site sensing using CV methods. According to the review, this approach has unique advantages in the specific environment of the construction site. Based on the current knowledge gap identified in the literature review, this paper proposes a novel concept of visual-based construction site sensing method for CPS application, and an architecture for CV-based CPS is proposed as an implementation of this concept. The main contribution of this paper is to propose a CPS architecture using computer vision as the main information acquisition method based on the literature review. This architecture innovatively introduces computer vision as a sensing method of construction sites, and realizes low-cost and non-invasive information acquisition in complex construction scenarios. This method can be used as an important supplement to on-site sensing to further promote the automation and intelligence of the construction process.

Abstract:
Urban planners play an important role, communicate plans with developers on behalf of the city and its inhabitants. They also function as shepherds for a developer's development application, communicating with civic technicians, who ensure adherence to bylaws, civic committees, and the public. As a communication proxy between all these different stakeholders, urban planners often find themselves at the center of miscommunications, often due to assumptions and discussions made over paper-based sketches. This study employs interviews and observations with twelve urban planners from a major Canadian city to investigate the communication challenges around technical activities of the design review process, also to explore tools and technologies that are used within the design review process. Thus, the goal of this study is to arrive at a set of design recommendations to create a mobile, interactive communication medium that can potentially support the participatory communication and technical activities of the design review process.
