This work develops a mathematical model that explains the ball mills operational speed. The scope of the model is defined by the powder as the number of particles per cm3 and the Relevance defined as the ratio between different forces. In this study, the Relevance is defined as the ratio between superficial tension and inertial forces. The conditions for a free flowing powder and a single particle are differenced and non-dimensional numbers are found. The model proposed use the friction force between mill walls and the powder mass is related by a friction coefficient that can be calculated fro

Abstract Primary wood processing mills in Arkansas play a vital role in both the state and the national economy, as evidenced by Arkansas' high national ranking in lumber productivity. Log acquisition from forestlands is invariably constrained by suitability of terrain and road networks; hence, an accurate assessment of the sufficiency of timberlands in servicing mills based on the existing road network and cost-effective log-truck travel time is essential for planning for the future. Many different analyses were carried out on an ArcInfo 9.3.1 workstation to delineate cost-effective sawmill s

The article considers the issue of obtaining a recycling resource during the processing cullet, which harms the environment. During the preparation of raw materials in the household waste recycling stages, the material is crushed to the right size. This is implemented in mills based on various methods of destruction. In this regard, analyses of the currently existing types of mechanical mills were carried out and their disadvantages were investigated. To solve glass recycling problem, this study presents the results of processing cullet by the electric pulse method. We provide a description of

The present research deals with the medieval grain production and the primary processing of it in Ung, Bereg, Ugocsa and Maramures counties. In the Middle Ages, the primary foodstuff was bread, which could be made from a variety of grains. In today's Transcarpathia, bread was made primarily using wheat and rye, which were crucial parts of the everyday eating. After the founding of the Hungarian state, the branch of the food production underwent a transformation, namely the animal-husbandry was slowly replaced by tillage. The necessity of improving technological operations in the processing of mineral raw materials and the use of energy-efficient grinding equipment is substantiated. The technical and technological benefits of vertical dynamic autogenous grinding mills are given. They are based on a method of self-grinding of the material, which allows to reduce the specific energy consumption. The technical advantages of the MKAD system mills, the structural schemes of which have an indifferent group are explained. Feed-associated Salmonella serovars continue to be reported in poultry flocks. A study was conducted to investigate Salmonella contamination in major commercial feed mills that produce rations for broiler chickens within Great Britain. Dust and large moist gauze swab samples (12,791) were collected from 22 feed mills on 31 visits. Salmonella was isolated from 20 mills, with 15 mills (75%) having fewer than 5% Salmonella-positive samples. Fifty-one Salmonella serovars were isolated, with a large proportion of isolates being Salmonella (S.) Kedougou (29.4%) or S. 13,23:i:- (21.4%). European Unio

It was found that the power consumed by the mills varies within 836–1260 kW. The energy characteristics of the mills, as well as specific power consumption, correlation coefficients and regression equations are presented. Since 1980, the concept of palm oil mill effluent treatment has changed, and there have been several research and development projects to investigate the utilization of the so called waste materials from the palm oil mills. A pollution prevention approach has been increasingly adoted by the industry. Anaerobic liquor is being beneficially recycled to crops and improved crop yield and soil properties have been recorded, and biogas is being harnessed for heat and electricity generation. This paper highlights some of the recent developments.

Comminution is important in the processing of biological materials, such as cereal grains, wood biomass, and food waste. The most popular biomaterial grinders are hammer and roller mills. However, the grinders with great potential in the processing of biomass are mills that use cutting, e.g., disc mills. When it comes to single-disc and multi-disc grinders, there are not many studies describing the relationships between energy, motion, material, and processing or describing the effect of grinding, meaning the size distribution of a product. Urschel and Fitzpatrick mills and homogenizers at 500 to 700 and 1500 to 2000 psi increased mold counts more than twofold over the range of data obtained. Contrary to previous reports, Urschel mills increased rot counts significantly. A nationwide survey was conducted in 1983 to determine if similar effects would b
