Chapter 1 profiles the history, exposure routes, and health effects of chemicals in categories such as pesticides, solvents, flame retardants, plastics, and antimicrobials. Human exposure to low concentrations of chemicals, prenatal and childhood exposures, and effects on the endocrine system are highlighted. The goal is to raise awareness about the wide range of chemicals humans encounter on a daily basis. Medical professionals are urged to use this information to educate patients, and governments are called on to adopt new regulatory approaches to protect public health.

Abstract:
This book demonstrates that the global community of International Relations scholars during the last 100 years have managed to create a mature and accomplished discipline. The book argues that it should be recognised as such. Seven key concepts structure the book, each concept enabling a critical examination of an important dimension of the discipline that goes beyond conventional categories and delimitations. The essay argues that rather than continue to be stuck in more of the same, it is time to move on and, in this regard, the book offers some tentative suggestions about the way forward. C

This chapter presents the state of the burgeoning scholarly field of sport history and points to what remains to be done. Scholars have increasingly have found sports to be a subject that can help answer the major questions facing historians of all sorts. Once a domain of unadorned empiricism, sports history today mobilizes complex and sophisticated social and cultural theories to derive a vast range of meanings. Additionally, the familiar categories of class, race, gender, nation, and religion can all be used to understand sport, and in turn sport can provide new understandings of those same

Drawing on historical and contemporary practices, it critically explores the concept of mental illness and how it is treated, the integration of health and social care, and providing a person-centred approach. As well as tackling more general aspects, such as how we categorise mental health and the contemporary practice around medication and treatment alternatives, it also focusses on specific areas currently labelled 'mental illness', including depression, anxiety, ADHD (attentio

This introductory essay documents the data of Italian migration to the United States from 1945 to the present and offers organizational categories through which to better conceptualize these seventy years of migration. Post-World War II Italians were mostly working class immigrants and constituted town-based Italian diasporas, while the last four decades have witnessed elite immigrants, or professionals considered a brain drain, leaving Italy for the United States (and elsewhere). Immigrant replenishment by new or “real Italians” greatly impacted the preexisting and still-developing sense of I
