Abstract:
Cilj.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Curriculum material is generally considered the subject matter of information, talents, dispositions, understandings, and principles that make up research programs in the field. At a more complex level, the curricula need to contain historical and socio-political strengths, traditions, cultural views, and goals with wide differences in sovereignty, adaptation, and local understanding that encompass a diversity of cultures, laws, metaphysics, and political discourse This study aims to develop a curriculum with local content as a new approach in early childhood science learning. The Local Content Curriculum (LCC) is compiled and developed to preserve the uniqueness of local culture, natural environment, and community crafts for early childhood teachers so that they can introduce local content to early childhood. Research and model development combines the design of the Dick-Carey and Dabbagh models with qualitative and quantitative descriptive analysis. The results showed that local content curriculum products can be supplemented into early childhood curricula in institutions according to local conditions. Curricula with local content can be used as a reinforcement for the introduction of science in early childhood. The research implication demands the concern of all stakeholders to see that the introduction of local content is very important to be given from an early age, so that children know, get used to, like, maintain, and love local wealth from an early age. Abstract:
U III. osnovnoj školi Čakovec realiziran je projekt izrade virtualnog modela školskog atrija nastao korelacijom predmeta Matematike, Informatike i Tehničke kulture.

AbstractThe configuration of the second phase of the Brazilian Decimetric Array (BDA), installed at Cachoeira Paulista, Brazil (Longitude 45° 0′ 20″ W and Latitude 22° 41′ 19″ S), is a T-shaped array where 21 antennas are being added to existing 5 antennas of the first phase. In the third phase, in each arm of the T array, four more antennas will be added and baselines will be increased to 2.5 × 1.25 km in east-west and south directions, respectively. The antennas will be equally spaced at the distances of 250 meters from the central antenna of the T-array. Also, the frequency range will be increased to 1.2–1.7, 2.8 and 5.6 GHz. The Second phase of the BDA should be operational by the middle of 2010 and will operate in the frequency range of (1.2–1.7) GHz for solar and non solar observations. Here, we present the characteristics of the second phase of the BDA project, details of the array configuration, the u-v coverage, the synthesized beam obtained for the proposed configuration.

Abstract:
Based on the data of daily maximum temperature in 26 meteorological stations in the North Center Region, Vietnam over the period of 1980 to 2013, the authors conducted the research on the spatial distribution of the number of hot days. The initial result shows that in general, in the north of the study area, the large number of hot days occurred in the plain, and tended to decrease westward and eastward. In the south, this number tends to increase from the west to the east. Especially, the largest number occurred in two areas: The Ma and Ca River's valleys (Thanh Hoa and Nghe An provinces) and the coastal areas (Thua Thien Hue province), creating two heat centers in Tuong Duong district, Nghe An province and Nam Dong district, Thua Thien Hue province.ReferencesAdina-Eliza Croitoru, Adrian Piticar, Antoniu-Flavius Ciupertea, Cristina FlorinaRosca, 2016 Changes in heat wave indices in Romania over the period 1961-2015. Abstract:
This thesis includes a study of the chosen area in the town of Týn nad Vltavou from the point of view of barrierless conception. I monitored the starting state in this area and I compared it with all valid legal regulations and norms. I pointed out the weaknesses of the starting state in this area. The complex barrierless area could be established by removing these weaknesses. This new area could be open not only to healthy people but also to people with limited ability of movement and orientation. I determined the order of the changes urgency. This means which elements should be reconstructed and modified to the barrierless state as soon as possible. I was interested in the state of the footpaths, crossings for the people, car-parks, staircases and other elements. I was also interested in the accessibility of civil facilities {--} the medical centre, the pharmacy, the town laundry, the building with care service and the post office. I chose one part of the footpath for the technical solution. The barrierless solution is missing in this part of the footpath. I elaborated project documentation for this part of the footpath needed for granting the building permission because the footpath is situated in the direct proximity of citizens´ residences and infrastructure network leads through this footpath. The drawings have been processed by visualization cad application. This diploma thesis also contains the list of the valid legal regulations and publications which deal with the problems of the barrierless areas.

Abstract:
Słowo redaktora serii Pierwsza naukowa pozycja wydana w serii Biblioteka Przekładów Literatur Słowiańskich pt. Od mobilności do interakcji. Dramat i teatr w Bośni i Hercegowinie, Czarnogórze, Chorwacji, Kosowie, Macedonii, Słowenii i Serbii nawiązuje do ubiegłorocznej dwutomowej publikacji polskich przekładów współczesnego dramatu chorwackiego zatytułowanej (Nie)tylko fragmenty. Języki publikacji: chorwacki, serbski i angielski. Jezici publikacije: hrvatski, srpski i engleski.

During the second half of the 20th century, there was a shift in focus in second language acquisition research from linguistic competence to communicative and pragmatic competence (Hymes, 1972; Canale & Swain, 1980; Canale, 1983; Bachman, 1990; Bachman & Palmer, 1996; Usó-Juan & Martínez-Flor, 2006). This resulted in a growing number of studies on speech acts in general. Motivated by a lack of studies on the speech acts of apology in conversations of Czech learners of English as a foreign language, my dissertation project aims to shed light on apology strategies used by Czech university students.

Abstract:
This chapter discusses how a teaching simulation can embody core characteristics of a complex system. It employs examples of specific frameworks and strategies used in simSchool, a research and development project supported by two programs of the U. S. Department of Education: Preparing Tomorrow’s Teachers to Use Technology (2004-2006), and currently, the Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education (2006-2009). The chapter assumes that a complex system simulation engine and representation is needed in teaching simulations because teaching and learning are complex phenomena. The chapter’s two goals are to introduce core ideas of complex systems and to illustrate with examples from simSchool, a simulation of teaching and learning.

Abstract:
Judicial dialogue has to be improved because of the continuous globalization and because constitutional principles formulated on the global level are often unknown to national judges. The author presents an alternative proposal to the traditional model(s) of dialogue between courts that she calls “judicial knowledge-sharing dialogue.” The chapter explains how, in order to better understand the complex nature of the global law system and disseminate information and content, international courts should attain a genuine dialogue with domestic courts as a way to interpret and share knowledge of global principles. This chapter launches a pilot project for a judicial knowledge-sharing process inspired by basic principles and concepts of knowledge management, based on a combination of three crucial activities: interpreted information—knowledge dissemination—effective action. It argues that a sharing knowledge through dialogue is a better tool for courts working together to develop a truly universal constitutional structure of the global community, for the purpose of strengthening the protection of fundamental rights and commons.

Abstract:
Spatial reasoning is a critical component of science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics (STEAM) educational and occupational innovation and expertise and should be an integral part of any mathematics curriculum. However, in the United States, it is often neglected. Spatial ability was once believed to be a fixed trait, but there is now widespread evidence that it can and should be recognized and developed beginning at very early ages and continuing throughout the educational system. The U. S. National Science Foundation-funded Project M2: Mentoring Young Mathematicians for students in kindergarten through second grade is one example of a proven program for the development of children’s spatial thinking. In spite of at least sixty years of research in this area, much remains to be done. Key words: spatial reasoning, mathematics, gifted, exceptional promise, STEAM, innovation

Abstract:
This paper will discuss the application of verification and validation (V&V) on both private and US government sponsored projects. Application of V&V for business and legal purposes is very tightly defined when executing a project compared to the open ended research of V&V performed in national laboratories and academia. Major purchases on the order of millions to hundreds of millions of dollars depend upon an accurate V&V if the calculation supporting the purchase involves a simulated solution or design. Examples of application will be given to illustrate the use of V&V within projects. The examples will motivate a discussion on the future needs and directions of the business industry from the larger V&V community. It is hoped that this discussion will promote greater interaction between the national labs, academia and business to help develop methodologies, consistencies and directions of effort that will support execution of the V&V process in the business sector.

Abstract:
The United States Department of Energy is promoting the resurgence of nuclear power in the U. S. for both electrical power generation and production of process heat required for industrial processes such as the manufacture of hydrogen for use as a fuel in automobiles. The DOE project is called the next generation nuclear plant (NGNP) and is based on a Generation IV reactor concept called the very high temperature reactor (VHTR), which will use helium as the coolant at temperatures ranging from 450 °C to perhaps 1000 °C. While computational fluid dynamics (CFD) has not been used for past safety analysis for nuclear reactors in the U. S., it is being considered for safety analysis for existing and future reactors. It is fully recognized that CFD simulation codes will have to be validated for flow physics reasonably close to actual fluid dynamic conditions expected in normal and accident operational situations. To this end, experimental data have been obtained in a scaled model of a narrow slice of the lower plenum of a prismatic VHTR. The present article presents new results of CFD examinations of these data to explore potential issues with the geometry, the initial conditions, the flow dynamics and the data needed to fully specify the inlet and boundary conditions; results for several turbulence models are examined. Issues are addressed and recommendations about the data are made.

Full text
Abstract:
This paper documents the initial test results of a locomotive diesel particulate filter (DPF) retrofit project. The locomotive used for this project was BNSF1284, a 1,566 kW National Railway Equipment Company (NREC) model 3GS21B, originally manufactured in April, 2008, and designed to be an Ultra-Low Emissions Locomotive (ULEL). This genset switcher locomotive uses three Cummins QSK19 Cummins 522 kW diesel-engine driven generator sets (Genset 1, 2, and 3) to provide the power needed to drive the traction motors. The GT Exhaust Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) retrofit system, installed on BNSF1284, uses catalyzed DPF elements. The DPF, and its catalyzed coating, offered significant hydrocarbons (HC), carbon monoxide (CO), and particulate (PM) emissions reduction. Additionally, the catalyzed coating should allow the diesel particulate filters to passively regenerate at moderate exhaust temperatures, thus keeping the engine back pressure within allowable limits of the manufacture. The GT Exhaust DPF’s were installed in place of the standard mufflers on each of the three engines. The GT Exhaust DPF’s are roughly the same size as the stock muffler. The only locomotive modification needed to install the GT Exhaust DPF’s was to the muffler mounting platform, directly above the engine, where the exhaust pipe opening needed to be enlarged. There are no external modifications to the locomotive car body needed to install the GT Exhaust DPF’s. After installation of the DPF’s, they were degreened by operating the engines at rated power for 20 hours. After degreening testing was performed according to Title 40 of the U. S. Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Part 92, Subpart B. The addition of the DPF reduced the PM emissions to 0.016 g/kW-hr or 60 percent below the locomotive Tier 4 PM limits. BNSF1284 was returned to revenue service in Richmond, California in March 2012, where the DPF performance will be tracked for 3,000 hours of operation as part of a California Air Resources Board (CARB) verification program.

Abstract:
Military diving operations are routinely conducted in what can be one of the most inhospitable environments on the planet, frequently characterized by zero visibility. The inability to clearly see the immediate operational environment has historically been a serious limitation to manned diving operations — whether the mission is ship husbandry, under water construction, salvage, or scientific research. U.S. Navy diving is an integral part of the nation’s defense strategy with a continuing requirement to conduct manned intervention in the water column. To ensure technical superiority across the entire spectrum of diving operations we must identify, exploit, and de velop technology to advance the state-of-the-art in diving equipment. This can only be achieved by investing in, and supporting, focused research and development with specific goals to further diving capabilities. Under a project sponsored by the Office of Naval Research (ONR) and Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA), the Naval Surface Warfare Center-Panama City Division (NSWC PCD) has de veloped a prototype see-through head-up display system for a U. S. Navy diving helmet — the Divers Augmented Vision Display (DAVD). The DAVD system uses waveguide optical display modules that couple images from a micro display into a waveguide optic, translate the images through a series of internal reflections, finally exiting toward the diver’s eye providing a magnified, see-through virtual image at a specific distance in front of the diver. The virtual images can be critical information and sensor data including sonar images, ship husbandry and underwater construction schematics, enhanced navigation displays, augmented reality, and text messages. NSWC PCD is the U.S. Navy’s leading laboratory for research, development, testing, evaluation, and technology transition of diver visual display systems; with unique facilities for rapid prototyping and manufacturing, human systems integration and extreme environment testing. Along with NSWC PCD, the Navy Experimental Diving Unit (NEDU), and Naval Diving and Salvage Training Center (NDSTC) are co-located tenant commands at the Naval Support Activity Panama City (NSA PC). This paper provides a brief background on the development of diver head-up display systems, waveguide optical display technology, development of the DAVD prototype, results of diver evaluations, and recommendations for accelerated development of this game changing capability.

As one of the Roadmap Initiatives, U-LINK (University of Miami Laboratory for INtegrative Knowledge) is the University of Miami’s (UM’s) program to support innovative, problem-based interdisciplinary research. The U-LINK initiative is premised on the idea that the most significant challenges facing humanity, and therefore the most important research problems, require innovative and integrative approaches resulting from collaborations that bridge disciplines. The goal of U-LINK is to bring together faculty and trainees from multiple disciplines in collaboration with community stakeholders to develop and act on a shared vision of innovative solutions to grand societal challenges. To accomplish this goal, U-LINK provides training and funding opportunities for research teams, identifies common space(s) for teams to work together, creates interdisciplinary opportunities for UM undergraduate and graduate students, and helps UM faculty identify and pursue collaborative initiatives with faculty in other departments, schools, and colleges. This document details the features of the U-LINK program and provides data about outcomes of the program through 2019.

Abstract:

Abstract:
U situaciji sve prisutnije prijetnje nasilnog ekstremizma širom svijeta, Zapadni Balkan se suočava s velikim izazovima u oblasti društvene kohezije i stabilnosti.
