Abstract:
Cilj.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Curriculum material is generally considered the subject matter of information, talents, dispositions, understandings, and principles that make up research programs in the field. At a more complex level, the curricula need to contain historical and socio-political strengths, traditions, cultural views, and goals with wide differences in sovereignty, adaptation, and local understanding that encompass a diversity of cultures, laws, metaphysics, and political discourse This study aims to develop a curriculum with local content as a new approach in early childhood science learning. The Local Content Curriculum (LCC) is compiled and developed to preserve the uniqueness of local culture, natural environment, and community crafts for early childhood teachers so that they can introduce local content to early childhood. Research and model development combines the design of the Dick-Carey and Dabbagh models with qualitative and quantitative descriptive analysis. The results showed that local content curriculum products can be supplemented into early childhood curricula in institutions according to local conditions. Curricula with local content can be used as a reinforcement for the introduction of science in early childhood. The research implication demands the concern of all stakeholders to see that the introduction of local content is very important to be given from an early age, so that children know, get used to, like, maintain, and love local wealth from an early age. Abstract:
U III. osnovnoj školi Čakovec realiziran je projekt izrade virtualnog modela školskog atrija nastao korelacijom predmeta Matematike, Informatike i Tehničke kulture.

Abstract:
Based on the data of daily maximum temperature in 26 meteorological stations in the North Center Region, Vietnam over the period of 1980 to 2013, the authors conducted the research on the spatial distribution of the number of hot days. The initial result shows that in general, in the north of the study area, the large number of hot days occurred in the plain, and tended to decrease westward and eastward. In the south, this number tends to increase from the west to the east. Especially, the largest number occurred in two areas: The Ma and Ca River's valleys (Thanh Hoa and Nghe An provinces) and the coastal areas (Thua Thien Hue province), creating two heat centers in Tuong Duong district, Nghe An province and Nam Dong district, Thua Thien Hue province.ReferencesAdina-Eliza Croitoru, Adrian Piticar, Antoniu-Flavius Ciupertea, Cristina FlorinaRosca, 2016 Changes in heat wave indices in Romania over the period 1961-2015. Abstract:
Child Distance Learning (CDL) during the pandemic has led to an optimal development of children and effective teaching and learning processes in kindergartens. To overcome this, teachers need to apply a teaching approach in accordance with the principles of kindergarten education. In addition, teachers' self-efficacy of their ability to teach is also important for developing children's skills. This study aims to describe the teaching approach and the efficacy of kindergarten teachers during the CDL process and to identify the relationship between the two. The research method used is quantitative through document analysis as a source of data findings. A total of 116 Public Kindergarten (PK) teachers in DKI Jakarta participated in filling out the Classroom Management Scale and Teachers' Sense of Efficacy Scale online. All data were processed using descriptive statistics and correlation. Furthermore, there is a document analysis carried out on the Daily / Weekly Learning Program Design in PK Jakarta. The findings identified that the teaching approach of kindergarten teachers during CDL included only two principles of kindergarten education, namely thematic teaching and developing life skills. Furthermore, PK teachers in the Jakarta area showed low self-efficacy during CDL. The teaching approach and self-efficacy were caused by teachers' unpreparedness in facing challenges during CDL. In addition, other findings indicate that there is a relationship between teaching approaches and teacher self-efficacy. Another CDL model Interventions to increase teacher self-efficacy and the extent to which the relationship between the two variables can be studied further in future studies. Abstract:
Large numbers of perennial rivers flowing through steep gradient has made Nepal an ideal place for hydropower development. Development of hydropower project in most economical way possible is the first prerequisite to get maximum benefit from harnessing water resources. The maximum benefit can be achieved only through optimal design of the project. Each project component must be designed considering the required level of factor of safety, performance standards of each component and economy. On this backdrop, this paper intends to optimize the location of cutoffs in headworks to get maximum benefits from use of it in terms of safety and economy.Improper placement of cutoff not only reduces the factor of safety against piping but also curtails the project benefits due to excessive seepage flow. Piping (internal erosion of soil particles under structure) is associated with high exit gradient. It threatens the structural stability and ultimately leads to failure of structure while as excessive seepage flow limits the availability of flow for power generation and reduces the project benefits. So, the optimal design of headworks is an attempt to identify the best location of cutoff to control seepage flow and reduce exit gradient. Five different cases representing different location of cutoff were analyzed and their roles in controlling seepage flow and reducing exit gradient was evaluated to optimize the cutoff location. 2D Finite Element Method (FEM) was used for the seepage analysis. The analysis showed that cutoffs are essential to control seepage flow when dam/weir is founded in pervious soil. However, the best location to place cutoff must be adroitly identified to reap maximum benefit from use of cutoff. The analysis reveals that the role of central cutoff in controlling seepage flow and reducing exit gradient is very limited. Likewise, the u/s cutoff has minimum effect in reducing exit gradient but the d/s cutoff seemed very effective in reducing exit gradient resulting increased factor of safety against piping. Hence, this paper concludes that the d/s end is the optimal location to place cutoff to improve safety and economy of the project. In addition, the use of both u/s and d/s cutoffs extend positive roles both in controlling seepage flow and reducing exit gradient. However, in author’s opinion the construction cost of two cutoffs must be compared with benefit added by use of two cutoffs over use of single d/s cutoff. Abstract:
This article gives meaning to innovating promising practices in high poverty rural contexts, as experienced by the Rural Math Excel Partnership (RMEP). The project sought to develop a model of shared school-family-community responsibility to support student success in foundational math courses as preparation for science, technology, engineering, mathematics and health (STEM-H) careers. RMEP was one of the two rural development grant awards in the 2012 federal fiscal year, the first year for awards in the rural priority area of the U. S. Department of Education’s Investing in Innovation (i3) program. High poverty rural areas may have major implications for fidelity of implementation and measurement of intended impacts that raise important questions about project organizational structures, capacities and evaluation needs. If significant external funding and a partnership approach are key catalysts for innovating solutions to educational challenges, the answers to 10 questions of readiness could have major implications for project success.

Referencias Boero, P. (2011). Abstract:
We report on structural and electronic properties of two-dimensional materials ob-tained by analytical low-voltage aberration-corrected transmission electron microscopy. Basic crystallographic defects and their peculiarities will be discussed for two-dimensional materials at the atomic level. Thus, we report the atomic structure of point defect and -clusters [1], the full life circle of dislocations [2] and the movements of grain boundaries in grapheme [3]. In addition, we unravel the atomic structure of the amorphous phase (graphene, SiO2) in direct space just from single-atom-based analysis of high-resolution TEM images [5, 6]. As the energetic electron beam is interacting with the specimen via transferring energy to the atoms, structural transformation between different phases can be followed atom-by-atom [7, 8, 9]. In addition, physical properties such as the knock-on damage threshold is determined from controlled direct space experiments and precise measurements of high-resolution TEM images of graphene and MoS2[8, 7]. However beam-electron interactions with the specimen are also restricting imaging the pristine structure of a sample. It can be suppressed by simply limiting the total electron doses on the samples. Limited electron doses, however, result in worse signal to noise ratios. Here, a quantitative approach for estimating the visibility of objects in TEM images with limited doses will be presented [10]. Another traditional approach to suppress electron-induced damage during HRTEM observation is to employ an efficient cleaning procedure [11] and the protective coating of sensitive materials. This old approach will be taken to its extreme, when radiation sensitive materials are enclosed inside carbon nanotubes [12] and between two graphene layers [13]. We show moreover the advantage of lowering the accelerating voltage for imaging the pristine structure of low-dimensional materials [14]. [4] P. Wachsmuth, R. Hambach, M.K. Kinyanjui, et al., Phys. Abstract:
The BIBFRAME model is introduced; its origins are discussed. The author explains why Russian cataloguers have become interested in this LOC’ project. The developers argue that BIBFRAME is to initiate bibliographic standards transformation into the associated data model of a higher level and will make bibliographic information more useful for within and outside of bibliographic community. The structure comprises the model (structures information on three main abstraction levels: work, expression, item), glossary, and tools. The differences between BIBFRAME and MARC are revealed. BIBFRAME development stages, step-to-step implementation program are characterized. BIBFRAME and RDA tools are compared. Expert opinions on BIBFRAME concept and the prospects of its implementation in the global library practice are reviewed. The author emphasizes that BIBFRAME makes a formal access point for the library community to enter the larger data network where links between objects are of primary importance. The author also discusses terminology problems. She also voices her hope that we will not have to catch up with the international library community and will be represented on the Semantic Web, too.

Abstract:
Practice variation and trends in the management of incomplete and missed spontaneous abortion: Informing a multisite quality improvement project. Megg Wylie, Amelia Srajer, Kevin Lonergan, Philippa Brain, Eddy Lang Background: Practice variation in the management of spontaneous abortion exists in the Emergency Department (ED). We developed a multisite retrospective study to assess how the management of spontaneous abortion has changed over 2014-2019 across four Calgary EDs, with emphasis on assessing variation and trends between non-operative (medical/expectant) and operative (dilatation and curettage) management. Medical management has been increasingly indicated as effective, yet a knowledge gap exists regarding its use. Knowledge of that proportion and physician-level practice variation will facilitate educational and audit and feedback style initiatives. Results provide justification and supporting data for said initiatives, which may be extrapolated to elsewhere. Implementation: Two medical students are heading the day to day work of this project, with support from a principal investigator with the Department of Emergency Medicine in Calgary. We also have the support of a data manager and the head of pregnancy loss in the region. This study was implemented as a quality improvement project. Therefore, the Conjoint Health Research Ethics Board at the University of Calgary was consulted to ensure the project qualified as a quality improvement and that our privacy protections were appropriate. With approval from the ethics board, we needed the data to analyze and assess. To do so, we utilized Sunrise Clinical Manager (SCM) to retrospectively collect data. Sunrise Clinical Manager, a system utilized in Calgary EDs to track patient and department information, was accessed to collect administrative data. Sustaining this work will involve the continued efforts of the described team, largely in writing up the results and disseminating them via audit and feedback procedures. Evaluation Methods: Using SCM, data were retrospectively collected for patients coded with International Classification of Disease (ICD-10) codes O03.4 (incomplete spontaneous abortion without complication) or O02.1 (missed abortion) who presented to an ED in Calgary (Foothills Medical Centre, Peter Lougheed Centre, South Calgary Hospital, and Rockyview General Hospital) over 2014-2019. We collected patient and environmental factors to allow for the examination of unintended associations. Hemoglobin, HCG level, CTAS code, PIA (time to MD), and U/S result (to confirm diagnosis) were collected. Variables regarding length of stay, procedures received (D&Cs, or other), and returns to care (within 72 hours, and 7 days) were collected. Return to care for future D&C was considered a proxy for failed non-operative management. Demographic and practice data were collected on ED physicians who saw a minimum of 15 patients from our cohort, to gain understanding of trends in practice. Data were analyzed using Chi-square and Mann-Whitney U tests. Results: Within our cohort, 1110 (28.9%) patients received a D&C. The remaining 2735 (71.1%) patients were managed non-operatively. Variation and trends were present between sites, with rates of D&Cs ranging from 15.8% to 33.5% (p <0.001). The rate of D&Cs decreased from 34.2% in 2014 to 22.6% in 2019 across all sites (p <0.001), and 11.6% absolute and 33.9% relative reduction; yet there was minimal variation over time in rates of ED returns and returns resulting in D&Cs. 78.6% of physicians who saw ≥ 15 patients were female, with female physicians responding to 81.8% of our cohort Advice and Lessons Learned:1) Our first suggested lesson is to have a clear plan regarding deadlines and timelines, but toalso have room for flexibility. At some times the work on this project was slowed to alloweffective collaboration with the obstetrics and gyneocology department, or to allow for therefinement of data management. By setting realistic timelines, team members wereencouraged to progress the work in a timely fashion. However, by having flexibility the teamwas able to adapt to roadblocks along the way. 2) A second lesson would be the importance of meaningful collaboration between departments.Though the setting of the project was within Calgary EDs, the topic and content have clearrelevance to obstetics and gynaecology. By consulting with members of the obstetrics andgynaecology department we were able to clarify our objectives and have a betterunderstanding of local contextual factors that influenced our results.

Abstract:
The goal was to examine demographic differences between former communist regions and other regions of the EU. Besides providing a regional overview of EU?s demographic differences, we question whether the subnational approach offers any new insights into the East-West divide. This cross-sectional study was conducted on 1,155 EU?s NUTS3 regions from 2014. These regions are grouped in two groups: regions that were part of a com-munist country, and other regions. Mortality, fertility and age structure indicators were tested between the two groups of regions. GDP/c was used to control for differences in economic development by segmenting the regions into tree brackets: low, medium, and high. The differences were then tested for each indicator. Regional variation within countries for each indicator was also assessed. The gaps exist at regional level and are the widest with mortality and fertility schedule, regardless of GDP/c. Former communist regions on average tend to be slightly younger. Analysis of regional variation showed that subnational approach was warranted when studying East-West demographic disparities, especially when it comes to fertility schedule. Abstract:
Introduction. Rehabilitation of children in stationary suburban recreation and health improvement organizations (camps) is one of the priority directions for children’s health care and social policy of the state. The introduced total self-isolation regimen in the spring of 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the transition to distance education made signifi cant adjustments to the prevailing stereotypes of the daily routine and behavior of children, led to a reduction in the time spent in the open air, a decrease in their physical activity. Aim of the research. Comparative evaluation of the effi ciency indicators of children’s health improvement in the pandemic (2020) and non-epidemic (2018–2019) periods in children’s summer stationary suburban camps for recreation and health promotion. Materials and methods. The study was carried out as a part of the pilot project implementation “Evaluation of the Health Improvement Effi ciency” (2018–2020) on the territory of 15 constituent entities of the Russian Federation. The information was collected and analyzed using the software “Evaluation of the Organization of Children’s Health Improvement in Stationary Suburban Recreation and Health Promotion Camps”, developed by the Novosibirsk Research Institute of Hygiene of Federal Service for the Oversight of Consumer Protection and Welfare (Novosibirsk). The object of the study was children aged 7–17 years (n = 85 666) who had a rest in 134 stationary recreation and health improvement camps in the summer of 2018–2020. To determine the efficiency of recuperation, such indicators as the length and weight of the body, lung capacity, hand strength and their dynamics were assessed during the period of the health improving shift. Evaluation of the results was carried out in accordance with 2.4.4.0127-18 “Methodology for Evaluating the Effi ciency of Health Improvement in Stationary Organizations for Recreation and Health Promotion of Children” guidelines. R e s u l t s . It was revealed a decrease in the proportion of children with a high effi ciency of health improvement in 2020 in comparison with 2018–2019 due to the lack of positive dynamics of hand strength and vital capacity of the lungs indicators, as well as negative dynamics of body mass index. Conclusion. The lower indicators of the effi ciency of children’s health improvement are due to a considerable decrease in physical activity and the time spent in the open air in the period preceding the summer health-improving season of 2020.

Abstract:
The expansion of urban underpass has become the mainstream of development to cope with urban congestion, and the effect on adjacent existing structures during enlarging construction is also an important issue in the construction process. In order to better understand the influence of tunneling on adjacent structures, the pedestrian underpass expanding project above-crossing Xi’an Metro Line 1 was investigated. The aim was to analyze the deformation curves characteristics of adjacent structures by field observation of ground settlement, heave of existing tunnels, and settlement of piles. The results show that the ground settlement curve in the vertical direction of the underpass is similar to the shape of V, and the maximum settlement appearing in the center line of underpass is 18.7 mm. Due to the effect of existing tunnels on the ground deformation, the settlement curve in the parallel direction of the underpass is similar to the shape of M. Above-crossing tunneling would cause the existing tunnels to heave, and the heave mainly occurs in the range of −6 m to 12 m between the pedestrian tunnel face and the center line of each tunnel. The heave curve is similar to the shape of inverted U. The settlement of piles is linear with its axial stress and significantly affected by its location. The settlement curve of piles is similar to the shape of S in two dimensions. On the basis of deformation curves, this paper presents some equations to describe the shape of V, M, inverted U, and S, respectively, by the inverted Gaussian distribution curve, superimposed Gaussian distribution curve, Gaussian distribution curve, and arctangent function.

Abstract:
The paper presents results from an international research project looking at Roma children between the ages of 3 and 6 years old. Thirty Roma children from Southwest Bulgaria and 30 Roma children from East Slovakia were tested with a psycholinguistic test in Romani language, measuring the knowledge of different grammatical categories. In most East European countries, the children are tested employing psychological/IQ tests in the official languages of the country and if the child does not understand the test task, because of a lack of knowledge in that language, s/he is deemed to have “light mental retardation”. The knowledge of the children on different grammatical categories in their mother tongue is not taken into account. For the first time in Europe, a psycholinguistic test was developed for measuring the knowledge in Romani (comprehension and production). Categories such as wh-questions, wh-complements, passive verbs, possessiveness, tense and aspect, learning new nouns and verbs are measured with newly developed test. The knowledge of the children is connected with two theories: the ecological theory of Ogbu (1978) and the integrative theory of child development (García Coll et al. 1996). Ogbu’s theory stresses the importance of the home culture in the development of the children and the theory of García Coll and her collaborators presents the home environment and the SES of the families as an important predictor for language development and school readiness of the minority/migrant children. Abstract:
The Covid-19 pandemic had a dangerous impact on early-childhood education, lost learning in almost all aspects of child development. The house-to-house learning, with the name Moving Home Learning Program (MHLP), is an attractive offer as an emergency remote teaching solution. This study aims to describe the application of MHLP designed by early-childhood education institutions during the learning process at home. This study used a qualitative approach with data collection using interviews, observation, and documentation. The respondents involved in the interview were a kindergarten principal and four teachers. The research data were analyzed using the data content analysis. The Findings show that the MHLP has proven to be sufficiently in line with the learning needs of early childhood during the Covid-19 pandemic. Although, the application of the MHLP learning model has limitations such as the distance from the house that is far away, the number of meetings that are only once a week, the number of food and toy sellers passing by, disturbing children's concentration, and the risk of damage to goods at home. The implication of this research can be the basis for evaluating MHLP as an adaptive strategy that requires the attention of related parties, including policy makers, school principals, and teachers for the development of new, more effective online learning models. Abstract:
AbstractThe paper reports on the fifth (2012) season of fieldwork of the Cyrenaican Prehistory Project. The primary focus of the season was the continuation of the excavation of the prehistoric occupation layers in the Haua Fteah cave. A small trench (Trench U) was cut into Holocene (Neolithic) sediments exposed on the south wall of Charles McBurney's Upper Trench. Below this, the excavation of Trench M was continued, on the southern side of McBurney's Middle Trench. In previous seasons we had excavated Oranian ‘Epipalaeolithic’ layers dating toc.18,000–10,000 BP (years before the present). In 2012 the excavation continued downwards through Dabban ‘Upper Palaeolithic’ occupation layers, one of which was associated with a post-built structure and likely hearths. There are indications of an occupational hiatus separating the oldest Dabban from the youngest Levallois-Mousterian (Middle Palaeolithic or Middle Stone Age) lithic material. The Deep Sounding excavated by Charles McBurney in 1955 was cleared of backfill to its base, and its south-facing wall was recorded in detail and sampled extensively for materials for dating and palaeoenvironmental reconstruction. McBurney believed that he had reached bedrock at the base of the Deep Sounding, but a small sounding (Trench S) cut into the sediments below this level found further, albeit sparse, evidence for human occupation. Whilst the antiquity of ‘Pre-Aurignacian’ human occupation at the site still needs to be resolved, it seems likely to reach back at least to Marine Isotope Stage 5e, the beginning of the last interglacial (c.130,000–115,000 BP). Important finds from the 2012 excavations in terms of the behavioural complexity of the human groups using the cave include a possible worked bone point from a Pre-Aurignacian layer and a granite rubbing stone in a Dabban layer from a source over 600 km from the cave.

Abstract Pedersen, S. A., Fock, H., Krause, J., Pusch, C., Sell, A. L., Böttcher, U., Rogers, S. I., Sköld, M., Skov, H., Podolska, M., Piet, G. J., and Rice, J. C. 2009. Natura 2000 sites and fisheries in German offshore waters.–ICES Journal of Marine Science, 66: 155–169. The principal objective of sites selected as part of Natura 2000 is to achieve or maintain a favourable conservation status of habitats and species named in the EU Birds and Habitats directives. In the German exclusive economic zone, the habitat types protected by this legislation are sandbanks and reefs; protected species include marine mammals, seabirds, and specific migratory fish species. The ICES project Environmentally Sound Fishery Management in Protected Areas (EMPAS) aims to answer two questions: (i) To what extent do specific fishing activities significantly threaten attainment of the conservation objectives of the Natura 2000 sites? (ii) What management measures would reduce these conflicts and how effective would they be at helping to ensure the favourable condition of these sites? Assessments of fishing impacts on Natura 2000 sites require basic data on the conservation status of individual habitats and species, as well as data for fine-scale distributions of ongoing fishing activities. This paper describes and discusses the process used by the EMPAS project in developing fishery-management plans for each Natura 2000 site in German offshore waters.

Abstract:
Abstract:
Abstract. Rongorongo is an undeciphered script inscribed on wooden objects from Easter Island (Rapa Nui) in the Pacific Ocean. The existing editions of the inscriptions, and their widespread locations in museums and archives all over the world today constitute a serious obstacle to any objective paleographical assessment. Thus, with a view to a potential decipherment, creating 3D models of the available corpus is of crucial importance, and one of the objectives of the ERC INSCRIBE project, based at the University of Bologna with Professor S. Ferrara as Principal Investigator. In this preliminary work, we present the results of the 3D digitization of the Mamari tablet, one of the longest inscriptions in Rongorongo, housed in the Museum Archives of the Congregazione dei Sacri Cuori di Ges`u e Maria in Rome. The tablet is made of wood, with a shiny reflecting surface, characterized by a mainly dark texture. The 3D modelling was carried out with the ScanRider 1.2 laser scanner manufactured by VGER, based on Structured Light technology, taking care to ensure the legibility of each sign while preserving the overall shape of the object as precisely as possible. To overcome the difficulties inherent in the object’s complex fabric, the Mamari tablet was acquired in separate sections (joined together during processing through specific markers), thus managing to optimize the optical parameters of the laser scanner, such as the exposure of the camera and the depth of field of the projector. Furthermore, an evaluation of the 3D reconstruction precision was also carried out, highlighting a precision of few hundredths of millimeters, in agreement with the claimed nominal standard deviation. In addition to the 3D model produced, one of the main results of this endeavor was the definition of a successful method to scan such complex objects, which will be replicated to finalize the complete 3D modelling of the whole Rongorongo corpus of inscriptions.

Abstract:
Climate change induced sea-level rise (SLR) is on its increase globally. Regionally the lowlands of China, Vietnam, Bangladesh, and islands of the Malaysian, Indonesian and Philippine archipelagos are among the world’s most threatened regions. Sea-level rise has major impacts on the ecosystems and society. It threatens coastal populations, economic activities, and fragile ecosystems as mangroves, coastal salt-marches and wetlands. This paper provides a summary of the current state of knowledge of sea level-rise and its effects on both human and natural ecosystems. The focus is on coastal urban areas and low lying deltas in South-East Asia and Vietnam, as one of the most threatened areas in the world. About 3 mm per year reflects the growing consensus on the average SLR worldwide. The trend speeds up during recent decades. The figures are subject to local, temporal and methodological variation. In Vietnam the average values of 3.3 mm per year during the 1993-2014 period are above the worldwide average. Although a basic conceptual understanding exists that the increasing global frequency of the strongest tropical cyclones is related with the increasing temperature and SLR, this relationship is insufficiently understood. Moreover the precise, complex environmental, economic, social, and health impacts are currently unclear. SLR, storms and changing precipitation patterns increase flood risks, in particular in urban areas. Part of the current scientific debate is on how urban agglomeration can be made more resilient to flood risks. Where originally mainly technical interventions dominated this discussion, it becomes increasingly clear that proactive special planning, flood defense, flood risk mitigation, flood preparation, and flood recovery are important, but costly instruments. Next to the main focus on SLR and its effects on resilience, the paper reviews main SLR associated impacts: Floods and inundation, salinization, shoreline change, and effects on mangroves and wetlands. The hazards of SLR related floods increase fastest in urban areas. This is related with both the increasing surface major cities are expected to occupy during the decades to come and the increasing coastal population. In particular Asia and its megacities in the southern part of the continent are increasingly at risk. The discussion points to complexity, inter-disciplinarity, and the related uncertainty, as core characteristics. An integrated combination of mitigation, adaptation and resilience measures is currently considered as the most indicated way to resist SLR today and in the near future.References Aerts J.C.J.H., Hassan A., Savenije H.H.G., Khan M.F., 2000. Abstract:
In this article one reports the production of the educational documentary titled “thermal ceiling/roof project”, which approaches an interdisciplinary work developed in a public state school in the city of São José do Rio Preto, SP. This documentary was made through the Teaching Centers of the Sao Paulo State University (UNESP) during the year 2016. The previous year, in 2015, students, teachers and administrators of this public school carried out a campaign to collect milk boxes for construction of a thermal ceiling/roof in the school courtyard, since the heat in this environment surpassed 42o Celsius in some days during the summer. Through the development of the project, high school and elementary school teachers and students have explored, from a practical and theoretical point of view, curricular contents related to the Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Portuguese Language disciplines. With the construction of the thermal ceiling/roof were collected 15,000 milk boxes and the heat in the courtyard decreased up to 8o Celsius. One concludes by monitoring the development of the project and the reports of teachers, students, administrators and members of the school community, that the project was significant from a curricular point of view - National Curricular Parameters - and that documentary production was socially important for dissemination of the didactic-pedagogical-environmental initiative of the school and for the learning of the participants. Abstract:
Problem statement. Contemporary art space creates special conditions for the functioning of the classical musical heritage. The principle of the classics, which results in the formation of certain ideas about the criteria of the “reference” work and the ways of interaction with it undergoes a radical transformation. The turn of the XX and XXI centuries became a time of experiments, including experimental dialogues of the contemporary artists with the classical artistic artifacts. The relevance of the study is due to the growing scientific interest in the specifics of the implementation of contemporary art projects. The scientific novelty of the article is connected with the attempt to analytically comprehend the process of actualization of classical musical works in the conditions of the modern artistic environment. Theoretical Background. In the context of our study, the views of P. Sloterdijk (1986) on the autonomy impossibility of the classical text and the study of U. Eco (1986), focused on the dynamism of the artistic universe of the postmodern era and the multiplicity of its possible interpretations, are recognized as the most essential. Objectives. The purpose of this study is to reveal the specifics of the actualization of classical heritage in contemporary art projects (based on “Quando ci risvegliamo” by S. Sciarrino, presented at the Beethoven Festival in Bonn, 2015). Results and Discussion. The specifics of creative rethinking of L. van Beethoven’s works, done by contemporary European composers (S. Sciarrino, H. Dufourt, V. Tarnopolsky, B. Lang, E. Poppe) during the European cycle of the Beethoven Festival (2015–2019) are analyzed. The content of the multi-layered work “Quando ci risvegliamo” by S. Sciarrino’s is revealed as it is caused by the allusions to Fantasia for piano, soloists, choir and orchestra Op. 80 by L. van Beethoven and the symbolic drama “Når vi døde vågner” (“When We Dead Awaken”) by H. Ibsen. The interaction between the texts takes place on a structural, symbolic and semantic levels. The space of silence on the imaginary border of sleep and awakening, modeled by S. Sciarrino in “Quando ci risvegliamo”, builds cross-cultural connotations, appealing at the same time to the work of the German composer and the Norwegian playwright. Conclusions. The conclusion on the actualization of the classical text in the conditions of the modern art environment at the expense of employment of other classical texts is made. It is noted that the appropriate level of cultural training and experience in perception of artistic texts, expected from the hypothetical recipients, should allow them to perceive the cultural and artistic connotations of the new work, which are included in the hypertext of postmodernism.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT In May 2013, per Congressional direction and to support a better understanding of pollution sources in the U. S. waters, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) provided the U. S. Coast Guard (USCG) a detailed report on the assessment of risks from potentially polluting shipwrecks. The report, Risk Assessment for Potentially Polluting Wrecks in U.S. Waters, was a result of the Remediation of Underwater Legacy Environmental Threats (RULET) project that evaluated 20,000 shipwrecks for their pollution potential as well as issues that could impact operations including whether or not those wrecks could be historically significant properties and/or gravesites. “Historic property” is defined by the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 (NHPA), to be any prehistoric or historic district, site, building, structure, or object included in, or eligible for inclusion in, the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP.) The NHPA requires a Federal agency to “take into account” the effects of its undertakings, such as pollution removal from a submerged shipwreck, and afford the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP) a reasonable opportunity to comment. Federal agencies meet Section 106 responsibilities through a consultation process with the ACHP and other parties as set out in the ACHP's regulations implementing Section 106 of the NHPA (36 CFR Part 800), or through implementation of the nationwide 1997 Programmatic Agreement for emergency response under the National Oil and Hazardous Substances Pollution Contingency Plan. NOAA evaluated a number of the report's shipwrecks for eligibility under the NRHP criteria to determine if any could be considered historic properties. The majority of RULET sites are associated with World War II casualties in the Battle of the Atlantic. As of 2013, the average age of each wreck is 83 years old, as many were built or retrofitted for service during WWII, meeting one of the criteria, per the National Park Service's regulations at 36 CFR Part 60 for eligibility for nomination to the NRHP. Three potentially eligible shipwrecks were subsequently nominated and accepted to the NRHP. The information contained in the RULET risk assessments and the NRHP nominations, facilitates the efforts of USCG to work through the required consultation processes; more effectively balancing responsibilities to address potential environmental impacts and legal mandates to avoid or mitigate impacts to historic resources.

Abstract:
Abstract. The aim of this project was to establish past variations in the main oceanographic and climatic features of a transitional semiarid ecosystem on the north-central Chilean coast. We analyzed recent sedimentary records retrieved from two bays, Guanaqueros and Tongoy (30∘ S), for geochemical and biological analyses, including the following: sensitive redox trace elements, biogenic opal, total organic carbon (TOC), diatoms and stable isotopes of organic carbon and nitrogen. Three remarkable periods were established with different environmental conditions and productivities: (1) > 6600 cal BP, (2) 4500–1800 cal BP and (3) 140 cal BP to the present (2015 CE). The first period was characterized by a remarkably higher productivity (higher diatom abundances and opal) in which large fluxes of organic compounds were also inferred from the accumulation of elements, such as Ba, Ca, Ni, Cd and P, in the sediments. Meanwhile, significantly reduced conditions at the bottom of the bays were suggested based on the large accumulation of Mo, Re and U, showing a peak at 6600 cal BP, when sulfidic conditions could have been present. According to the pollen moisture index (PMI), this was also identified as the driest interval. These conditions should be associated with an intensification of the Southern Pacific Subtropical Anticyclone (SPSA) and stronger southerly western winds, emulating La Niña-like conditions, as has been described for the SE Pacific during the early Holocene and part of the mid-Holocene. During most of the second period, lower productivity was observed; however, a small increase was identified between 3400 and 4000 cal BP, although lower amounts of diatom (valves g−1) and nutrient-type metal accumulations were evident. Anoxic conditions at the bottom of the bays changed to an almost stable suboxic condition during this time interval. The third period was marked by intense oxygenation after 1800 cal BP, as observed by a drastic change in the accumulation of U, Mo and Re. This was followed by a return to more reduced conditions over the past 2 centuries, characterized by a small productivity rise after ∼140 cal BP, as suggested by the opal accumulations. Overall, lower primary productivity, lower reduced conditions at the bottom and higher-humidity conditions were established after 6600 cal BP to the present. We suggest that the oxygenation might be associated with a weak effect from the oxygen minimum zone over the shelf and intensified El Niño activity, introducing oxygenated waters to the coastal zones through the propagation of equatorial waves and establishment of conditions that reduced the primary productivity from the mid-Holocene toward the beginning of the modern era.

Abstract:
117 Background: Staging is a fundamental quality metric. Entry of discrete elements of staging in the EHR supports & improves efficiencies for clinical notes, therapy summaries, survivorship plans, clinical decision making, pathway use, timely authorizations, clinical trial eligibility evaluations, as well as clinical, financial & quality outcomes. Staging of all new & progressing patients in our EPIC EHR was set as a priority in 2018 but baseline entry through 2018 was below target goals. Methods: A Staging QTP project group was formed & participated in the COH-ASCO QTP Fall training. Baseline capture of staging data in EPIC for campus and community (enterprise) sites for Breast (B) & Prostate (P) patients was collected. QTP processes were used to develop and implement a 12-week pilot with PDSA cycles at weeks 8 and 12. B & P cancer patients seen by 3 B & 2 P medical oncologists (MO), 5B surgeons (S) & 3P urologists (U) agreed to participate in a pilot study. Disease leads determined the elements of complete staging: 9-10 for B & 8 for P. Training was done for all campus APPs & for doctors in the pilot. Follow up by the QTP team was done at clinics during the pilot. Reports were built to capture specific staging elements for B & P patients by doctor. Reports were sent out starting week 9 indicating patients without complete staging with missing elements. A survey about the process was done by participant MDs & APPS weeks 8 & 12. Results: Baseline enterprise wide complete staging in Epic was 6% for B cancer & 3% for P cancer. 6 week PDSA showed capture of complete staging for B-MO & S was 20% and for P-MO & U was 12%. QTP Pilot ends 6/19 & abstract data will be updated for the staging & survey results. Additional results on complete staging for progressing patients is being captured. Conclusions: Complete staging in the EHR requires definition, training, resourcing, leadership support and feedback. Initial results show all new patients had initial staging data entered and complete staging rates increased significantly for new B & P cancer patients before weekly feedback was sent. Analysis of survey results will inform future PDSA cycles & plans for complete staging enterprise wide.

Abstract:

Abstract:
ObjectiveTo establish reference intervals for osteoarthritis (OA)-related biomarkers used in the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health (FNIH) OA Biomarkers Consortium Project.MethodsA total of 129 ‘multijoint controls’ were selected from 2722 African-American and Caucasian men and women in the Johnston County Osteoarthritis Project. The majority (79%) of those eligible (with biospecimens and baseline data) also had one or more follow-up evaluations 5–15 years later. Multijoint controls were selected to be free of radiographic hand, hip, knee and lumbar spine osteoarthritis (OA), to have no knee or hip symptoms, and minimal hand and spine symptoms at all available time points. Eighteen biomarkers were evaluated in serum (s) and/or urine (u) by ELISA. Reference intervals and partitioning by gender and race were performed with EP Evaluator software.ResultsControls were 64% women, 33% African-Americans, mean age 59 years and mean body mass index 29 kg/m2. Three biomarkers were associated with age: sHyaluronan (positively), sN-terminal propeptide of collagen IIA (positively) and sCol2-3/4 C-terminal cleavage product of types I and II collagen (negatively). Exploratory analyses suggested that separate reference intervals may be warranted on the basis of gender for uC-terminal cross-linked telopeptide of type II collagen (uCTXII), sMatrix metalloproteinase-3, uNitrated type II collagen degradation fragment (uCol2-1 NO2) and sHyaluronan, and on the basis of race for uCTXII, sCartilage oligomeric matrix protein, sC-terminal cross-linked telopeptide of type I collagen and uCol2-1 NO2.ConclusionsTo our knowledge, this represents the best and most stringent control group ever assayed for OA-related biomarkers. These well-phenotyped controls, representing a similar age demographic to that of the OA Initiative-FNIH main study sample, provide a context for interpretation of OA subject biomarker data. The freely available data set also provides a reference for future human studies.

The International Journal Of Alcohol And Drug Research, 4(2), 139-149. doi:http://dx.doi.org/10.7895/ijadr.v4i2.211Aims: This paper investigates how social roles are related to alcohol use among women in low- and middle-income countries. Methods: Cross-sectional data were used from 25-49-years-old women in 11 low- and middle-income countries from the GenACIS project. Dependent variables were current drinking and risky drinking (10+gr/day). Information on partnership, parenthood and having paid labour were used as social role measures. Multiple and multilevel regression analyses were carried out to test whether holding several roles are related to current and risky drinking. Results: Having paid work was associated with current and risky drinking across countries. Having a partner and having children were associated with a higher likelihood of abstention. With regard to country level characteristics per capita consumption was significantly related to both current drinking and risky drinking among women, while gross national income was significantly associated only with current drinking. Gender equality within the country did not have a significant association with women’s drinking. Concerning differing role combinations, working single women without children were most likely to be risky drinkers, while women who were not working and had a partner and children were the least likely. Conclusions: Paid labour was a substantial singular factor positively associated with women’s drinking. In addition, with the exception of Argentina and Kazakhstan, high per capita consumption on country level was associated with higher prevalence of risky drinking among women.

Abstract:
Background:L-arginine is of great importance in numerous biological procedures in human body, e.g. it participates in the urea cycle for detoxification of ammonia, and functions as a modulator in immune responses (1). Our previous investigation demonstrated that treatment with L-arginine reduced clinical symptoms, bone erosion and osteoclast numbers in serum-induced arthritis (K/BxN) (2). In addition, a decreased concentration of L-arginine has been observed in the serum of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients. Altogether, it is suggesting that L-arginine supplementation might be a potential treatment against RA.Objectives:This study aims to investigate the treatment role of L-arginine supplementation in murine arthritis models. The project also plans to delineate the metabolic action of L-arginine supplementation during osteoclast differentiation in the presence of an inflammatory milieu. Methods:Three murine arthritis models (serum-induced arthritis (K/BxN) model, collagen-induced arthritis model and hTNFtg mice model) were applied in the presence or not of oral L-arginine supplementation. MicroCT and histomorphometry analyses were performed to quantify bone erosion and numbers of osteoclasts. In addition, in vitro osteoclastogenesis were performed in the presence of various amounts of L-arginine with or without treatment with 40ng/ml TNFa. OC differentiation was characterized by TRAP staining. Resorption activity was assessed by pit formation assay. Osteoclast markers and metabolic genes were determined with quantitative real-time PCR analysis and western blot. Dihydrorhodamine 123 staining was used to determine the level of intracellular ROS. Seahorse analyses and mass spectrometry metabolites analyses were conducted to address the metabolic condition. Results:Arthritis severities were reduced after L-arginine supplementation in arthritis models. Moreover, an amelioration of bone erosion and reduced osteoclast numbers were observed in arthritic mice treated with L-arginine.In vitrotreatment of L-arginine inhibited osteoclastogenesis, especially in the late phase of the differentiation, even with exposure to TNFa stimulation. The L-arginine induced osteoclast differentiation inhibition is likely due to an alteration in the RANKL/RANK/Traf6 pathway. L-arginine also boosted the intracellular production of ATP and ROS, promoting mitochondria-driven oxidative phosphorylations (OXPHOS), leading to the failure of activation and even death of the osteoclasts. Conclusion:These data strongly suggested that L-Arginine ameliorates bone erosion in RA through the inhibition of RANKL/RANK/Traf6 pathway as well as reprogramming of the cellular metabolism during osteoclastogenesis. The immunometabolism action of L-Arginine might therefore help to reduce joint inflammation and destruction in RA.References:[1] Geiger R, Rieckmann JC, Wolf T, Basso C, Feng Y, Fuhrer T, Kogadeeva M, Picotti P, Meissner F, Mann M, Zamboni N. Abstract:
SUMMARY: Professionals have been working in occupational safety and health (OS&H) in the United States since at least the advent of the Industrial Revolution. Formal educational in OS&H began in earnest with passage of the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) of 1970 that included provisions for funding training in OS&H disciplines. A study conducted by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) in 2011 estimated that there were over 48,000 (2.3/10,000 working age adults) OS&H professionals working in the US. Employers surveyed in this study reported a need to hire over 25,000 OS&H professionals in the next 5 years. OS&H training programs were projected to graduate less than 13,000 students in that period. Core knowledge and skills in the various OS&H disciplines typically includes academic training in epidemiology, biostatistics, administration & management, behavioral health science, industrial hygiene, ergonomics, and foundation courses in occupational injury and disease prevention. Employers report interest in additional training in communication, technical writing, leadership, cross-disciplinary training, emerging hazards, and knowledge of regulations and compliance. Funding of OS&H programs has been a persistent challenge. A lack of student awareness of training and career opportunities poses additional challenges for recruitment of qualified applicants. While hiring demands and career prospects remain high for most OS&H disciplines, the support for training programs, and the supply of new graduates presents ongoing challenges for OS&H educators.

Abstract:

Abstract:
This article presents the results of a research that aimed to problematize how students of the undergraduate courses of an IFES represent the technique and technology in images produced by them. Those images then are constitutive of their visual culture. Image production workshops were organized. The following concepts were addressed: visual culture; Image Technical and technology. Participated in the Workshops 105 students (52 doubles) who produced 65 photographs from their choice of a phenomena in the surroundings of the university. They answered the questions: justify chosen phenomenon; has technique in that image? (Justify response); has technology in this image? (Justify the answer). Then the photos were projected and the concepts of visual culture, technique and technology were discussed. The analysis of the written responses of the students indicated that when choosing and justifying the phenomena they are holders of a visual culture "based on visuality, the tendency to figure or visualize existence". Most students understood the technique as a means to obtain an end. They also confused the technology with the technical apparatus and did not criticize technique or technology. All students showed familiarity with the "cellular" artifact, but did not criticize this use. The contemporary artifacts, particularly the cell phone, are so inserted in everyday life that it becomes difficult to surprise them, because there is a symbolic system, grounded in technical rationality, so rooted in everyday actions that make this familiarity difficult to miss. This is why they do not problematize the technique or technology, when producing or approaching a visual culture. (justificar a resposta).
